Abom Ski and Board

My experience there was top notch. I purchased Skis and a Snowboard. The staff is very knowledgeable and talked me through my options and expertly explained differences from brand to brand. Easy access to the store ample parking also.

After having the worst experience at Ski Cellar in Bowness, (they wouldn’t even honor their trade in program for kids used ski equipment), we drove here and ended up having the best customer service. 4 of us needed to be outfitted for full ski and board equipment, they happily helped all 4 of us and even took the used gear not purchased with them as trade in. They were knowledgeable, helpful, lots of stock and fair prices. Will be using them in the future for the kids ski trade in program and for other gear for sure.

Had some bindings mounted on my new skis. The work was flawless and din settings correct. Also had full service done on another set of skis. Very good workmanship and fair price.

Came here for the first time to research ski gear for my kiddo and the staff were super helpful! Knowledgeable, attentive, patient and had a lovely vibe. Would definitely recommend if you're in need of winter gear!

Love this shop! It always feels like you're coming home and they have some brands that you can't find anywhere. I was just in for a broken pole and the staff was extremely helpful and followed up every step of the way. Class acts.

Mikayla (sp?) was so helpful and friendly. I have a hard time finding snow pants that fit as someone with larger legs and butt and she grabbed me several options with different styles of fit. She also found me an amazing jacket and my partner awesome bib pants. For the end of season, selection was still great and she worked within our budget. New fav spot!

Horrible manager with zero people skill. He did not want to match the competitor price. They install a different binding from the previous year then the one we ask for without letting us know with excuses that they are in the rush and they don’t have the one we want. Good thing we caught it before we left the store. I’m sure there is better place out there that will be happy to do business with you and getting your hard earn money.

Stopped by yesterday and had a wonderful experience purchasing used skis for two of our children. Mikayla was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable and quick to find what we needed. A wonderful experience- thank you Mikayla!

Brought in my new board to ask for advice and help with the bindings. These guys were the best, couldn't have asked for a better shop in the NW area.

Very good selection, very friendly and highly knowledgeable staff. They didn't have wakesurf board demos, ugh, so had to take my biz elsewhere unfortunately. Also found 2021 boards priced at 2022 prices, even with their sales discount as the 2023 boards are beimg launched. That could use an adjustment, as I was able to find the same board online for cheaper, which sucks because I love supporting local. Overall, definitely a place to find your ski, snow, wake, water gear, unless you want to potentially demo it before purchase.

I was looking at surfboards, and Randy helped me understand what I should be looking for. Then Kelsey helped me find the perfect life jackets and went above and beyond looking in the back for exactly what I wanted. A well deserved five stars for selection and customer service.

Smaller store but a decent selection, especially considering covid. Really nice staff EXCEPT for the owner who comes across as rude and not knowledgeable at all. Clearly he has no time for customer service. Staff even makes comments like "no sorry our owner isn't ok with that. "

This place is amazing! I have been looking to buy a snowboard for a while and after looking at several stores, Abom helped me so much. They are extremely knowledgeable about board types and fittings to suit your personal needs. You are buying quality here and will not be disappointed!

The girl quoted me 1 price on some gear. I come back to buy it and the guy says no and quotes me a difernt price lol! The girl was friendly and polite the guy not so much lol. Dont bother goin here you might get tricked!

This store has great service and a solid junior trade-in program. Even when they're busy they make sure you are taken care of.

I ended up at Abom after a disappointing experience at another ski shop in town and my experience at Abom couldn't have been better! Chris helped me find skis, boots, poles and a few accessories. He was super patient with me, helping me find just the right fit with my boots, explaining the process along the way and making an otherwise mundane task fairly fun. I saw the rest of the staff treating customers with an equal amount of care and I really think this place deserves praise as it was busy! Thank Abom, you've got a customer for life here!

Horrible experience today at this shop. Called earlier to ask if they could do a service on my board and be ready by Thursday night. The person I talked over the phone said: "For sure" so I drove down only to waste my time. First of all, upon arrival I was told a different story from when I called and they even disputed that. It goes further, they said they wouldn't want to wax my board because it needed a full tune up. I explained that I only needed a hot wax because I was scheduled to go boarding on Friday and afterwards, I would gladly come back and pay for a full tune up. Their answer to me offering my business twice was: "I don't even want to put your board on my waxing table" They didn't offer any possible solutions with a customer that actually bought the board from them years ago. Horrendous customer service and I even heard them laugh and mock me as I exited the door. That's a nice way to treat a returning customer. Luckily there are better options in the same area that were happy to see me and tended to my needs without wasting my time or being drama queens. They must not need any business during the pandemic to provide such a poor customer service. Needless to say, I will never set foot on that place again!

This shop looks small from the outside but they have more inventory than most major retailers I've been to.
The staff are always super friendly and helpful; you never feel self conscious to ask about something you don't know.
The pre-season sale for ski and board gear is amazing. I've converted many friends to winter sports by getting their feet wet with the aforementioned sale.

The place to go for Ski, Snowboard, or just general winter wear. Got all of my snowboard gear here. Came in with a budget and they stuck to it. Board was even ready for pick up early!

Awesome experience buying new goggles, and boots. Staff are patient, knowledgeable and incredibly friendly! I wouldn't hesitate to reccomend anyone come to Abom, and am now a customer for life!

GREAT SERVICE CHRIS! We purchased a Thule roof rack system for our Audi a few years ago. Been a while since i installed it. There are some little plugs that have to come out of the audi roof to fit the rails in place. Nothing in the owners manual, nothing on the web.
I knew it was easy but just could not remember the trick. After 6 calls to the dealer trying to get thru to service. I finally succeeded and spoke to a service person whose only response was " i don't know, can you bring the car by". Grrrrr.
Thought i would try where we bought the racks from, in 60 seconds Chris had solved the mini mystery, they just pop out with a small screw driver. Thank you so much for the help, i was loosing my marbles on these little stupid plugs.

Abominable service! Stopped to potentially buy a wetsuit, a wakeboard and a towable. Disinterested staff even though I was literally the only customer. Every time I needed a different suit I had to get fully dressed and get it myself. Every time I had a question, I had to go all the way to the desk where the staff were intently hanging out.

Went in to look at and purchase some new snowboard bindings a couple days ago. Spent about 10 -15 minutes looking/comparing their assortment of available bindings. Not once did any one of the staff approach me or ask if they could help me. Three or four of them did enjoy gathering at the front counter chatting amongst themselves the whole time I was there. So I walked out, drove to Techno Sports. I was immediately approached by staff there. Not only did I purchase new bindings there, but also some other items in the store that was shown to me by attentive staff. Sorry Abom.you missed out.

My family and I only trust Abom for our ski and snowboard gear. The owner as well as his employees are all incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. I wouldn't trust any place else!

I had a great experience buying new skis and boots. Staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. They made it a lovely buying experience. Prices were competitive and fantastic service.

DO NOT RECOMMEND. Bought skis here last year as I was getting back into skiing after boarding for +20 years. Thought I’d support a small business. What a mistake. I specifically told the salesman my one concern was the plastic caps on the Elan skis. I had rented a few times and for some reason the caps were catching when I crossed the skis. I was even willing to buy a more expensive ski at the time to avoid the caps but the salesperson, Adam sounds right, assured me at that time they could be easily removed and filled if it was an issue. It happened and, yup, a 2 grade tear to my left MCL. 5 days couch bound and months of physio, more expensive skis would have been cheaper in the end, I went back today to get the caps pulled off as promised and the OWNER, omg, was condescending, rude and argumentative. I was shocked, asked him at one point if he was arguing with me where he proceeded to tell me that there was no way that was happening and i didn’t know what i was taking about. My 7 year old couldn’t understand why he was being mean, her words. You do not treat customers this way. And they probably lost 1000.00 in business, My spouse needs a new set of skis and boots, I was looking at a new jacket plus we want a Thule carrier for our car.

Have been going here for over half a decade. Always delivers top quality service. Would highly recommend for juniors with trade in program and used selection is great. I even got some excellent skis for myself as well. Will not go anyplace else. Thanks to the team at Abom!

The staff here are so helpful. We needed a hitch-mounted bike rack but didn't have much of a budget. We came here to look at our options. The staff member who helped us walked us through the different features of each, and we ended up buying a higher level rack because of his advice. The one we originally wanted didn't have locks for the bikes, a hitch lock, or adjustable wheel cradles. I'm so glad we got those features. I don't worry that my bikes or rack will be stolen. And I have set the wheel cradles to fit a couple kids bikes too! Thanks for the great advice!

Great place with great staff, good quality items and okay prices. A little bit higher prices than online but it's nice to not have to pay shipping and wait for items to be delivered.

Had a life vest that was out of warranty but ripped. Randy managed to get me a new vest through HO Sports and was even prepared to exchange it for me if it didn't fit. Fantastic customer service, they went over and above to help me out. Thanks guys!

We’ve been buying our winter sports gear here for a few years. The service is fabulous, they sell you what you actually need and they never get annoyed with my children (even when they probably should)! I can’t say enough good tbing about the staff here. Amazing!

Guys here are awesome. This is where I get my gear when im in calgary. My boots lasted over 10 years and my board the same. I just retired my firefly jacket from them this year.and i love the selection! Definitely a place to stop and check out in winter for snowboard and ski gear and summertime too for wakeboards and all your water needs as well.

First time ever walking into this store. We were looking for skis for our daughter and Sport Check did not have her size. Cody was knowledgable and answered all my questions when picking out skis for my daughter. He helped size my daughter up with brand new skis and boots. Took the time to measure her feet to get a proper sized boot for her. While we were there also measure up my youngest daughter for Skis and boots as well. We took full advantage of the sale and also got a full set for my wife also. Cody took the time to ask questions about our skiing experience and style to fit her with skis that would suit her needs. Also he made her try on several pair of boots to make sure she got the boot that was comfortable for her.

We wanted to go to COP that afternoon so Cody had all 3 pair of skis mounted, waxed and ready to go based on the girls weight and experience. He even took my skis in for a wax as well in less that 30 min. I was really happy with the purchase and with the service we got from Cody. Really helpful to have someone experienced and not a pushy at all for selling. He gave recommendations for equipment even if the price was cheaper than equipment we picked that was more expensive. I would highly recommend going to see Cody.

This place can be pretty hard to get to if you have never been here before. Its almost a calgary instituion it has been here so long. The prices are average but they have a huge selection and knowledgeable staff. When I need snowboard stuff this is usually the first place that pops into mind.
