Active Start Childcare-Country Hills

My son enrolled in this place after and before school three years ago until two months ago. This place was good until last year, despite the understanding and polite and experienced trainers. We even recommended it to our friends.
Unfortunately, with the change of management, some teachers (watchers) left the place and newcomer teachers with different growing kids ideas were hired to train the children. In addition to the weakness of the language, according to their style, these teachers used to shout insults at children and sometimes used inappropriate and obscene words with my son.
For many days, my child and his friends were called inappropriate words because of playfulness. Coaches must report even tiny incidents, but according to their idea, these coaches underestimate some of these incidents and do not complete the incident form. Sometimes they don’t even inform the manager. There is a misjudgment among children; they tell whatever they decide and not what is correct. If a parent complains, they focus on that child and constantly complain during the following days and magnify unimportant matters and discuss with the parents in the presence of the child in such a way that the child's self-confidence is taken away.
Before the presence of these coaches, my child was very interested in playing with his friends in this place for a long time. After the presence of these coaches, he did not want to stay and became very aggressive. I do not recommend this place for your children's spirits. In my opinion, in addition to teaching them to respect the free and principled culture of Canada, teachers should learn that verbal punishment, the use of vulgar and inappropriate words, or physical punishment and humiliation are not the solution to controlling children.

We love Active Start. Great set up, clean rooms, good communication. The teachers are wonderful and our son has made some major leaps in learning. We had to switch locations due to family logistics but our son still talks about his CH teachers. Highly recommend!

Active start has been so amazing for my little one. She was not even 2 when she started but I have always been at peace knowing she's well taken care of. She learns loads and has a wonderful time!

All staff are really friendly and care for the kids. They have been above and beyond in working with us, such as with cloth diapers and working through a lot of tantrums.

Active Start Country Hills has welcomed my son with open arms. With a bad experience from a previous daycare we were nervous for him to attend. Our son settled in quickly, the teachers and staff are patient and kind. Any concerns with our child they are quick to help us and offer plenty of resources and advice. Our son is a picky eater so they ensure to update us on his eating habits at school. Since our son has been attending his social skills have improved and he is learning so much. Admin is amazing and kind, and we are always greeted by all the staff!

We get picture updates daily and it always looks like so much fun. My child went from not wanting to go to daycare to being excited and eager to go. He has made many friends.

We absolutely love this place. From Kristine's friendly greeting on the way in, to the lovely teachers (Daniela, Teja, Shiristy, Carmen, Novie.) we are always confident our child is getting the support and development (and activity) they need!

The staff is very friendly and always open arms when it comes to my child, the staff and care takers are very educated and knows exactly how to happen difficult situations.

I have been working in there since one year. I love my job and all the people who are working with me. Senior staff and directors are really helpful and kind. When my daughter will be 3 I want her to go there because she can learn so many things. And there are so many opportunities that she can get and will help her in future.
The building is also good and safe for kids. I usually recommend my friends to put their kids in this day care.

I love this daycare so does my 2yr old son.
We go here 2days a week only and my son always having a blast everytime. The teachers are also very caring with kids and considerate. My son gets sick a lot. Like always. Since january we have been sick 3x. They make sure that my son is properly dressed every time coz of this freezing and inconsistent weather of ours. They also make sure that he is eating properly since he can get picky at times. We also love dress up days. Exciting for us as parents and to our kids too.
The directors are very nice and accomodating too.

We love Active Start! Everyone who works there is always such a pleasure and just friendly and caring to the kids. You can tell they love what they do and everyone I've come across has always been helpful and go above and beyond. They have helped me understand fees and subsidy and have accommodated our part time and full time needs. The best part of course is all 3 of our kids truly love going there sometimes they don't want to leave! They are fed until they are full, comforted when needed, taught wonderful themed things monthly and tons of indoor and ourdoor play. We are so blessed to have them care for our kids while we work. We trust they are in the best hands when they aren't with us. If they have a spot for your children dont hesitate to take it!

I am proud to be part of this company and I love working in this place where the teamwork are great.

I want to thank everyone at Active Start Country Hills for making my baby boy's first day so wonderful. You guys are amazing, patient and so nurturing. We can't wait for all the special days to come with you guys.

I will admit, my first tour of this daycare had me extremely impressed and excited for my son to join. They have great facilities and all of the "bright and shiny" things you would like to see. However, our experience was awful. My son had been going to the center for a week when the teacher still did not know his name. Whenever I would pick him up he would be in a different room with a new teacher that had no idea who he was. There were several times I went to pick him up and there were children unattended in the classrooms upstairs, with no idea where their teacher as. There is NO relationship building between caregiver and child whatsoever. They treat the children as just another number sadly. I've seen kids left screaming and crying with very little effort from the caregivers to soothe them. For these reasons, I took my son out of the center and still, I was charged for two extra months after I had cancelled my sons care, leaving me with a $2190 bill to be paid or sent to collections. I'm a single mother, removed my son from the center and still have to pay for two months of nothing. I tried contacting them to see if he could at least come for one more month given I will have to pay for it, and the answer is "no and you have to pay your bill by the end of the day or it is in collections. " SAD. Do not send your child here. There are tons of better options. To add: I noticed another review stating that the front door is never locked. This is confirmed. I got into the building several times without the use of my fob. It is definitely not secure.

My child has been going here for the last year in the preschool program and I am very unhappy. They have taught my child nothing and do not teach a proper preschool program! I have called in and asked why my child is not being taught to write their name, learning the alphabet, or anything really and the response was we do not force the children to learn. Active Start does not do a preschool program what so ever! They have 4 teachers to a classroom but yet for one whole week I seen smelly filth in my child's cubicle where their belongings are kept and had to ask for it to be cleaned. Yes the daycare is beautiful, but as another lady said above, these children are just a number to the staff.here are a few more issues I have
-we have a key-fob, but the door is ALWAYS open
-My child has told me recently that the staff yell at them and get mad a loot
-They do not make sure your child has eaten, and mine comes home very, very hungry
-They charge $1175, full price for the kindergarten program, which is the same price as full day "preschool" program.
-high turn over with staff
-They had children with higher needs in the class without an aid and that child repeatedly physically hurt my child.

I am removing my child from this daycare! I pulled my child out of a proper daycare with a proper preschool program for this school and I have nothing but regrets!

We transferred to this facility from another "major" daycare facility. The change was noticeable immediately. There were no problems with transition and the care providers were perfect in helping assist with that. The care providers are very interactive with the kids and the educational components are exceptional.
