They had every part I needed for my guitar repair and even went above and beyond to search back stock to ensure I am totally set up! Great service, would recommend!
Went there to get a capacitor for a 2 post hoist. Unfortunately they didn't have it but checked the old capacitor for me and told me where I could get one from. Very professional and knowledgeable staff. Great customer service. Highly recommended.
Just a great place to find parts and dedicated knowledgeable staff. The owner spent an hour with me troubleshooting circuits and making sure I was leaving with solutions. Highly recommended.
Very genuine people working here. I had an issue with my Teflon tube and he gave me the right tools to get it cut to length. Would definitely recommend this store for 3d printing needs.
Came in with a vague problem, the staff was friendly / knowledgeable and took the time to find a workable solution (even though it was getting close to closing time). Much appreciated.
What a wonderful place for DIYers and hobbyists. I've walked in to get some soldering wire, I've got great service, it was fast and easy. They have a huge selection of electronics and electronics related items, highly recommended.
I used to shop at their old location all the time, and was super sad when it closed its doors. All these years and I thought they where gone, and it turns out they just moved! Super excited to find my local source for electronics bits and quality tools- again!
I was also super excited to see they have a great selection of 3D printers and filament. The staff member working there at the time was a great wealth of knowledge with his own hands on experience with a lot of the different filaments.
Their space sure has gotten a lot smaller from their old location, but they cram a ton in there, and had everything I was looking for!
Awesome little store with very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Have most components you could need from a hobbyist or maker level projects. Have bought my projects parts from them several times and their pricing is quite competitive and fair.
The staff and products are absolutely fantastic! They helped me with my entire project and made sure I understand everything going on. Will definitely be coming back for future projects!
Needed a new 3 pin connector for my E scooter charger. The place where I had purchased my E scooter was unable to repair my charger for me. I found Active Tech Electronics and was able to find their business. I repaired it myself. Their prices are pretty good and quite an inventory of electronic parts ranging from audio, video to aviation parts.
Both Dave and Mike went over and above to help me with my two project. They will be my new go-to place for all my electronic parts needs. Thank you boys!
Michael was a huge help! Went in with a few questions on a very small hobby project and got exactly the advice and products I was looking for. Very helpful and pleasant experience. Used to go to B&E Electronics but always left frustrated and feeling unwanted. Will definitely come back to Active-tech next time I need any electronic supplies.
Handy place to have nearby. A pretty good selection of products in a tiny shop. Reminds me of Radio Shack a long time ago. Some of their prices are a little higher than if you were to buy online, but seems reasonable since you can get it now, and go back to working on your project. Everyone is just trying to make a living.
This is the best place in the city for Arduino and Raspberry Pi boards and sensors. I've been going to Active Tech since grade 10 for my Innovative Tech class, love it! Fuse selection is excellent and they carry some specialty hand tools like smooth pliers.
Great place to go for all your electronic needs! The staff there is amazing, always friendly, never grumpy and always ready to help you out with finding what you need!
A huge improvement over the old Active store on 32nd. Far more stock of all the bits you need -and then some. Good assortment of general electronics needs as well as test equipment, power supplies, multimeters and the like. Great selection of electronics hardware and heat-shrink tubing! Impressive assortment of 3D printing filaments and replacement parts -I can't believe this is right here in Calgary! Friendly staff, too.
The pricing is generally higher than other local stores and their policies can be difficult. I've shopped here for years but I don't think they've held onto what made them special. I don't think I'll be shopping here unless I need something that they sell exclusively.
I'm very impressed with Active Tech & Solarbotics. "Active Tech" is pretty much the only store in Calgary where you can find a selection of bits, pieces, supplies and equipment for your techy/electronics projects! The staff is well informed and helpful, and have all been working there for quite a while, which shows the store is run like a well-organized family. They also tolerate all my weird and off-the-wall requests!) "Solarbotics" is a very interesting place focused on projects in the robotics area, as well as 3D printing. They are very helpful and a huge shout-out to Dilan for helping create with a little 3-D model of a chemisty molecule originally created as a CIF file, and printed as an STL file. This has given me the insights I needed fo future 3D modelling! Excellent!
Thanks again to the whole team upstairs at Active Tech and downstairs at Solarbotics: Dave, Dilan, Michael, Maywish and Ali, and any others I might have missed!
I visited the store to get some stuff, I found all what I needed but what really caught my eye was this beautiful black hair, black eyes lady that make fall in love right away, it was a pleasure to met her at the till, I'll be coming back from time to time to see her again.
It's not exactly a Superstore for electronics hobbyists. I can't complete my project because they didn't have very many different values of capacitors, or had run out of them. They don't have much in the way of DIP ICs either.
It seems that all of the 5-star reviews are 2+ years old.
Thanks Mehwish for helping me out. Just starting out with a hobby and you went over and above what was expected. I didn’t feel rushed or incompetent at all. Definitely the place I’ll be going to in Calgary for my do-dads.
I visited this store for the first time today. Great experience. Will definitely visit again next time I'm in Calgary and will probably purchase online when I'm not. Abdi (or is it Abi) and Michael are very knowledgeable, friendly staff. Found everything I was hoping to in this store and so much more. Can't wait to start some new projects soon, thanks to Active Tech. Well worth the trouble seeking them out, whether you're an expert electronics diy'er or newbie/wannabe.
Visited the new store for an obscure item. (Obscure means I couldn't find it anywhere else in Calgary.) The rep was pretty busy but still helped me quickly. And they had the part in stock. My experience could not have been much better.
