I mistakenly bought the wrong weight of yarn. I tried to return or exchange (I was happy with either solution) for appropriate weight and was informed that they don’t take returns on yarn, that “it started with COVID, because once the yarn leaves the store we don’t know what’s happened to it. ” Let’s keep in mind this is now November 2023.
I explained I was not informed at the time of purchase that it was not eligible for return or exchange and that in fact, I was specifically asked for my phone number to put in their system in the event there were any issues or I had lost my receipt. She said that applied to if I had issues while using the yarn and that the “policy” is on my receipt. It may well be (I can’t find the receipt now & didn’t think I needed it to exchange my purchase). In my experience 99% of shops that have a no returns policy on a particular item generally make a point of ensuring customers are aware of the policy before finalizing their purchase. To simply put it in fine print on the receipt and have no other mention of it seems very odd. There are no signs in the yarn section stating yarn is a final sale. The clerk who rang in my sale did not tell me it was a final sale. There’s no mention on the website that yarn is a final sale. When I brought this up the clerk then said “it's also because we have customers who buy and return all the time. We have to buy yarn in bulk and in dye lots so when it gets returned we’re stuck with it. ” So I guess now I’m stuck with 2 skeins of $35 yarn that I cannot use. Congratulations, you lost a customer who will now be going to shops in Calgary that I know will be glad to take returns or exchanges on yarn that has not had the ball band removed and has not been wound.
I guess this is what happens when you try to “support local”? You’re at the mercy of unstated policies to retain a sale.

I love this little quilt shop. I have taken two classes with Karen there and both have been amazing! I have learned so much from her and while learning with the other students. For sure worth the short drive from Calgary.

Cute little shop in Cochran. Didn’t have what I went in for but found a couple of other things that I could use.

I brought my cousin here who was visiting from the US and although I didn’t go into the store with her, she was absolutely gushing about how wonderful and helpful the ladies were in this store & wished that they were in HER neighborhood. She couldn’t say enough good things about them and they really made me feel proud to be a Canadian. Great representation, ladies!

I was looking for sewing supplies for my mom. I was greeted with a smile by informative staff. Nice to shop local.

I was in town for a funeral and lost a button from my shirt — wandered in to Addie’s to see if they could help me out and they dropped everything to fix it on the spot while I waited (and it was like 5 minutes before closing). I don’t live in Cochrane or knit, but I have nothing but good things to say about the two ladies that helped me out. 5 stars all day
