Aida's Bistro

Terrible service. Went here for lunch with coworkers. Had to wait 40 minutes for our food (dip and sandwiches). They could have brought the dip out first but brought it with all the other food. They mixed up my sandwich and my friends sandwich and when we noticed and brought to their attention they gave my friend a hard time for not noticing right away. My friend and I swapped one half of our sandwhichs because I didn’t want to wait 40 minutes for another sandwich. They quickly brought me out the correct sandwich but took away the wrong sandwich that I had swapped with my friend so he never got the right sandwich. Such a mixup.

The food was really good. But over priced. An extra $8 to add 4 potato wedges and a side salad to my $14 sandwich?

Will not be coming here again on a lunch break due to the poor service and long wait (was late returning to work). If I eat here again I will preorder and pickup.

Tastes like home! Loved the authentic meals they served. Will definitely be coming back again.

Besides always having great food at Aida’s, last night my partner Sharon and I had the best service I have had in ages from our server, Janice. We were already having a special evening celebrating a new job I start tomorrow, but the service that Janice provided made the evening even that much more exceptional. Thanks, Janice, for making our evening a really special one, and thanks Aida’s for the great food as always.

We tried this restaurant with friends, mostly because I miss food from my country. Mains and appetisers were ok 6-7 / 10. Falafel was a bit blend and crust was too oily for my taste. The rice in the stuffed leaves were a bit over cooked. As dessert, we had bird nest and knafi, both were awful, I was curious to tried the knafi in particular, since it’s my favourite. It simply doesn’t work with the cheese that’s available in here.

Love love this place! The food is so authentic and perfectly prepared, service is amazing and the ambience cozy. Also appreciate how reasonably priced everything is.

For $28, got two small lamb kebab skewers which were overdone to the point of struggling to cut them…

Got the chicken shawarma large platter. I thought the hummus tasted great but the salad and chicken were okay. They also served my chicken with the Tahini sauce, when I asked for the spicy mayo and acknowledged it as they served it. Not sure why they didn’t just take it back when they realized the mistake. Overall there are better Lebanese restaurants in the city.

We visited in late Feb 2023. It was a cold night and the restaurant was quiet. The server was nice; however, we were disappointed by the food.

It just isn’t as amazing in flavours as we expected. The hummus tasted store bought, the muhammara was missed richness from nuts, and the kebab plate was small and underwhelming. The fattoush was nice with good sumac and fresh mint - it was the highlight of the meal sadly. Lots of other options in Calgary for bigger, better and deeper flavour (and less money)!

Large new menu with delicious choices. Everything was served fresh and hot and it was slamming busy in there, the one waiter managed to get it all right. Great job! We will be back.

Get the mouhumara, you will not be disappointed. They did and service here is top notch everytime we go!

The dips were clearly not handmade. For $25 it wasn’t a very good value. The service was terrible and the staff was extremely rude.

What an interesting place. Old building with a somewhat Victorian style ceiling. Middle Eastern food. I had chicken shawarma which was great along with hummus and pita, also really good. Give it a go.

I was really excited to try this restaurant and the food was amazing but unfortunately the service was extremely disappointing. I went in on a Friday at 4pm and asked for a table for 4 and I was told it was an hour and 40 min wait although only two groups were eating inside at the time and I could see many open large tables. I left and then called back 10 minutes later to get that same reservation only to be told that suddenly I could have a table for 4 with only a 30 minute wait. The lady on the phone then realized I was the one who came in earlier and used the excuse that "Suddenly some tables have opened up". Once we were seated our server was rude and barely looked at us. Definitely will not come back.

We visited this place and filled up on the smaller plates/appetizers. They had large portions and petite prices! The highlight for me was the falafel: they were huge, with a fluffy (almost hush puppy like) interior, nice crispy edges, and great tahini sauce; different, but arguably the best I've ever had! The chicken wings were very crispy with pretty good flavor. The spinach and lentil soup was declicous, super flavorful, and had a good smooth texture. The tabbouleh was average and a little underwhelming. Burma was an interetsing dessert - it was a little buttery and not sweet. I love pistachios, but it needed a sweet component to balance things out. Service was excellent and the vibe here is great. I'd definitely come back to Aida's to try more.
