Airdrie Community Health Centre

I received exceptional services at the Airdrie Community Health Center. The staff was notably friendly, and the doctors and nurses demonstrated expertise in their fields. I appreciated the thorough attention to my needs and the accurate diagnosis provided. I highly recommend their services!

The urgent care was horrible! My 2-year-old fell and cut his forehead wide open during our move here, we rushed him to urgent care, where it was very quiet. They not only ignored a 2-year-old who was actively bleeding, but my wife, (who is also a nurse, thankfully!) finally, after almost 4 hours of waiting! Went to the tragedy nurse and demanded that he be triaged as it was going to be too late to stitch his wound soon!
The nurse then begrudgingly cleaned his little head, slapped a few butterfly bandages on, and told my wife and me we'd be waiting all night, to just take him to the family doctor the following day if we felt it was needed.
What!? He's two years old! The wound was a gaping mouth, I seriously swear I saw muscle or bone under all the blood!
Take him home!?
Not one Doctor checked him, even a 2 minute once over. No doctor to check for signs of concussion (again, wife is an RN, she was the one who made us drop everything and get him there, insistent he see a doctor. Just in case she said, because he's not fully verbal yet, obviously.anyways, she kept saying there are pediatric symptoms of concussion that an emergency room doc would be able to see)
Nothing.

I'm aware urgent care deals with all emergencies and then some but for goodness' sake! When my wife asked the nurse to at least use some skin bonding glue to close it temporarily until we got him checked the next day, she looked blankly at us and said "We're all out of it. I would in a heartbeat but we've been out all day"

An urgent care facility doesn't have SKIN BONDING GLUE? !
I doubt that.

Don't know what was up with this place,
I hope it was a rare rough night because if not, wow!

As for my family, let's hope we don't need to visit, but if we do, the children's emergency is where you'll find us!

If you hate waiting go elsewhere because NO WHERE is any better. If you want to see what night and day look like, go to the Peter Laugheed next time you need urgent care and I assure you you’ll be running to airdrie

Great experience! I arrived at 9: 30 and left around 12: 30. Triage was very fast and efficient. Only waited a half hour to be taken into a room. Nurses were awesome, explained everything and were very nice. Dr. Frederick was kind and thorough, making sure to run all tests that needed to be done. He was calm and took very good care of me. Facility is slightly run down, but that is common for high traffic clinics. Overall would recommend instead of going into Calgary.

I have been waiting here for more than 3 hours and abdominal pain is 9/10 but still they do not care. On call they say 2 hours of waiting time. People coming after us going in before us. How do they work? What’s meaning triaging first. Disappointed and Pathetic health centre!

I had a bit of a wait, however I was taken care of to the highest medical standard in my opinion. Dr. Kai Yang stitched me up, and had me feeling right as rain. Very skilled doctor, and beautiful surgical knots. He didn’t even break a sweat. Thanks!

I've had to go a few times and have had nothing but great service, the nurses and doctors have all been very helpful, kind, and responsive.

Pretty fast wait times compared to other hospitals/care centres. Helped me get better fast. Only downside is that there was 1 rude nurse here that's all

Went here to make sure i didnt have a blood clot waited 4+ hours to see a docter when it was supposed to be aproximitly 1 hour 15 min and they ran no tests said if it gets worse come back will not be returning

The patient communication skills have dropped considerably here! Patients are already at their most vulnerable. Rude, unkind, and thoughtless triage/intake staff is unacceptable, especially when that patient is exceptionally kind (I’m not speaking of myself, but my spouse.) We understand medical facilities are all busy and maxed out; its why we avoid them as much as possible. Taking that out on patients that desperately need the care is beyond inappropriate. If we all avoided this centre, the staff might be happy they're less busy, but not when they no longer have jobs.

Website said 1.5 hour wait. Been here 7 hours now only to get an X-ray and a recommended ultrasound. We are pretty upset and told the doctor how frustrated we are only to have the people in the next bed say something under their breath about how mad we are. Then the nurse says “I really don’t care what they think or how they feel. It’s all we can do. ” That nurse should be fired

People seem to forget this is urgent care. The patients with the most severe problems are the first to see a doctor. I have been that patient waiting 4+ hrs to see the doctor and once I do get in the treatment is outstanding. The nurses and doctors do the best with what they have.

Worst emergency experience, its a scam that they say its free health care, infact canadian pay the highest tax for the worst emergency care service in the world. AHS is worst than all other provinces.

Have UTI went to walk in clinic 4 days ago prescription wasn’t working
Ended up in severe burning sensation when urinating
Which was small increments
Showed up at 1: 18 pm
By 6: 47pm no one has called me in to be checked
Being diabetic I could wait any longer
Their sign states sickest person seen first
They were taking people well after I showed up by at least 3 hours
The person who determines who is the sickest show be move to cleaning floors
That person has no sense of the agony to have to urinate
9 times in that time frame
AHS needs to hire audit company along with private
People to go through the system
Call it broken and having politician, doctors and nurses trying to fix it for the last 30 years have been a complete failure

Worst health centre I have been too, whoever determines who needs immediate attention needs some training. Administration is poor, I mean really poor. If I had anything less than a star, you don’t deserve it.

I'm not complaining about the long hours I've waited, people are nice but they messed up when they forgot to send the referral to the orthopedic doctor. I was told that the ortho doctor will call me in 1-2 weeks for a re-assessment for my broken ankle, I didn't get a call so I decided to call the ortho clinic and guess what- no referral was sent!

Went to the urgent care today and as I walked in, it didn’t look like there were too many people. So as I lined up with 2 people ahead of me, I checked the “scan the wait time“thing and it said approximate wait time was 1 hour and 45 minutes. Not too bad, I thought, but as I stood there waiting for my turn 2 ambulances arrived, one after the other.
So, being as their need was more dire than mine I got pushed back, I didn’t mind at all though. Because I understand that some people’s needs supersedes others on occasion.
And I know for a fact that when my and my family’s need was dire, Airdrie urgent care sprung into action and did not fail to act and give us the best care they could possibly provide.
I’m grateful for their hard work and attention so I know when they’re doing their best to provide the care that people need, and my need isn’t as urgent and critical as others, I don’t mind the wait.
The triage nurse, Kathryn, that assessed me was such a lovely lady, friendly, and caring. I appreciate you. And Dr. Sujiva Heyn, was also thorough and kind too, Thank you for all that you do.
All in all, i was at the urgent care for 4 hours today.not too bad. My patience, I’d like to believe, meant someone else’s urgent needs was met with utmost care and thoughtful diligence.

Health care system requires lot of work, it's not close to medical level. Especially need experienced Doctors who are ready to work and treat patients.

If you are suicidal, they won't help you. Wait for hours to be told to come back the next day this is surreal you cannot get help when you NEED it
MENTAL HEALTH DOESN'T FOLLOW A FREAKING SCHEDULE

Years ago I had poor experiences with this Urgent Care. My last couple of visits were exceptional, besides wait times which aren't their fault. There are doctors shortages across the country and it just is what it is, and people need to accept that instead of taking it out on the staff which may only result in longer wait times if they decide to leave. This has been a rough period of time for me having been injured and the physicians such as Dr Cormack for example really did care and it was displayed through her work.
I wanted to say thank you, and give credit where it is due.

I had the stomach flu for almost a week and still wasn't feeling better so I went into airdrie urgent care. Luckily there were no other people in the waiting room, I was promptly seen by triage and then seen at registration, I was in the waiting room for 10 minutes max. Nurses were awesome, helped me as much as they could, did all the tests we needed. Doctor was attentive and listening when I talked, she was knowledgeable and told me about all my results. Made sure I was OK before I left.
I wouldn't hesitate to come here again, this place was fantastic to me. Don't listen to the negative reviews.

I was waiting 6 hours for 4 years daughter. Doctor & nurse said about x-ray, pneumonia, tylenol. But lots of grandmother were felt down before my turn. How many hour do I wait for her?
Please practice falling down before coming here.
And please increase medical teams.

Go In with chest pains and heart not feeling right. Wait in the waiting room for 3 hours in pain. Awesome

I hate going to this place. I have waited an hour and half, sometimes two hours. I had no choice but to take my 5 year old son there today, and it's the same story. Adults who don't even look sick or in pain see the doctor before my son who was there first. Zero rating!

First visit to Airdrie Urgent Care. Extremely busy, medical professionals were top notch. I was treated with dignity and respect during my 6+ hours spent here on February 17,2023. The wait times are not the fault of the medical team, please treat them with respect, and they will treat you the same.

Just amazed at how phenomenal the staff are here! If I end up sick or injured again, I will make the drive out there for sure. I can't thank you guys enough!

Lovely nurses and doctors. The nurses always treat me well here. The only thing that I can say is that when treating patients with a not so well known diagnosis, it is important to look up safe medications and treatments for that individual before prescribing. I understand that's time consuming, but you have access to resources that patients don't and it will protect you as the provider as well. Also, the doctors need to understand that not all clinics are on Connect Care yet. If a diagnosis is not on Netcare that doesn't mean they didn't receive that diagnosis especially when the patient has a letter and information package from the diagnosing specialist. Everyone needs to understand that the changes happening with Netcare is very frustrating for healthcare providers, so I understand why they would be a little frustrated about a diagnosis not being on Netcare from a specialist who is not yet on the new Connect Care.

We brought our son in to urgent care the morning of October 24th with what we thought was a cold/pink eye, two separate problems. He went immediately as there was no one else in the waiting room. My spouse was told there was nothing wrong and he was then turned away without any care, despite listening to his lungs and seeing his eyes. We obviously didn't trust this place so we got a second opinion. On second look at a doctors office in town, they found he had an upper respiratory tract infection that was causing him to cough up blood, which we discussed with urgent care as well and a severe case of pink eye. The photos attached are what my sons eye looked like when he went into urgent care and he got turned away. Despicable and lazy, useless and careless, is all I can say about Airdries state of urgent care.

Top notch experience October 22 2022.
Start to finish the team that I dealt with was courteous, caring and attentive.
