This place is only open to Canadian citizens. If you are an international student or have a work visa, you need a special permit to enter. The staff at the front desk had no idea how to get the special permission if your are having a work permit.
Second time visiting it, had the luck to see the maintenance area accessible only with a volunteer guide. Was much helpful, with lots of details that made me a fan of the museum. I plan to visit it more often, to unveil little details that are not captured the first or second time around.
They deserve more attention from the City of Edmonton, as it is an integral part of the role of the city on World War II and support to the North America defence line.
The museum has a very nice collection of different planes and they're displayed in a space that is just sufficient to take pictures and appreciate the machines and engines. For us it was a short visit but you can spend a good hour there admiring all the displays. It seemed a little dusty to me maybe because they're doing some construction work. Overall it was nice and our kids enjoyed it very much. Ages 10,7,4 and even our 2 yo liked it
Interesting and informative. The staff and the displays are a pleasure. Volunteer Richard is an interesting and colorful character who enjoys interacting with the visitors. His knowledge and enthusiasm is contagious. They're lucky to have him. We will be back.
Very clean, very accommodating for my disability. Their was a scooter I could use as I couldn't walk anymore due to pain. They showed me and away I went.
I recently visited the Alberta Aviation Museum and I was thoroughly impressed with the collection of aircraft and artifacts on display. The museum is well laid out and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. I really enjoyed exploring the many interactive exhibits. There is a great variety of aircraft from the early days of aviation to modern military jets. There is also an extensive collection of artifacts, models and photographs. I would highly recommend this museum to anyone interested in aviation and its history.
Went there for SCARs I got to play with puppies and kitten that are up for adoption. Great place for Christmas gifts. You did not have to pay donations accepted
This small local museum is located in an old airplane hanger. Although they have a wide variety of aircraft on display, their collection focuses on the social history of airplanes in the Edmonton area, so expect to learn about bush pilots. There is a gift shop in the museum but no cafe so plan your lunch elsewhere.
After going to the christmas market next door with my lady, and being VERY disappointed by that, mainly at the prices people were asking for the quality of goods, we decided to stop in next door at the Aviation Museum. I havent been there in 15+ years, my wife has never been there! So, a great date idea. We were greeted by a lovely woman, very helpful and kind, she asked if we were trying to go fo the market.haha nope! We were so excited! Very fair priced admission, extremely beautiful building and exibits. What truly made it the best museum experience for us, we were greeted by the sweetest gentleman, Rick, who asked if we would like a tour of the building, we said yes please! So for the next few hours, he took us around and shared so much information to us. Very incredible man. If you're looking for something fun to do, in a lovely hidden gem in Edmonton, please, check this museum out, and make sure to ask if Rick is there! He's a real hoot, and truly made the experience amazing for us. If I could give it 10 stars, I would in a heartbeat. I pray this beautiful, historical landmark doesnt get shut down. Please keep the Alberta Aviation Museum open! It is a piece of Edmonton, Alberta, and Canadian History!
Thank you to the amazing staff, and Rick, for such a fun experience! We talked about it for the rest of the day! So many smiles!
Been in ab since 2016 and wanted to go ever since. Ended up going with my parents and it was a great time. The volunteers are fun to chat with. They take you to the restoration hangar and it's super cool to see what's going on there.
Attended a Farmers' Market. $10 admission was a bit too pricey for the amount of vendors in attendance. Still, it was a pleasant experience and I did find a few unique gifts.
Recommended place to visit with kids who loves airplanes. They have some activities for kids. My son loved the planes and he wants to visit there again.
Good Collection of Airplanes between the first world war and the 90s. Mostly older aircrafts with very interesting back stories. There is a dedicated information plate for many airplanes and memorable pilots who flew this type. There is also history about flight in Edmonton and a few different Airlines that flew here. Very interesting seeing their reconstruction area. Would definitely recommend going there if you are interested in aero and history.
The old museum have planes to see. They also do guided tours. Its on Kingsway close to downtown. There is Superstore, Canadian tire close by. They also do kids birthday parties.
We love this place, we always go to their open cockpit day. Staff are knowledgeable of the planes. They were very accommodating even to my autistic son.
I hadn't been here in decades, I should have come back sooner. They have done a lot to improve the displays and the historical context and exhibits have been a great addition
This is a really lovely piece of history displaying all types of aeroplanes from the past. They have active restoration going on also. Hopefully the city doesn't demolish it.
Loved this place, great displays and lots of info on the development of aviation in Northern Canada. Having worked in Aviation in the UK for many years I particularly enjoyed the displays on Wardair, Pacific Western and CP air.happy memories. Lots of aircraft to be seen and interesting for all ages.
Alberta Aviation Open house was super cool. Museum has a variety of historical airplanes and modern private and fighter jets planes. There is also a simulator on site. It's definitely a great location to visit for the aviation enthusiasts.
A great place for aviation enthusiasts to visit and take in the history behind lots of historical aircraft. The staff is very knowledgeable and willing to share amazing facts and stories about the planes. Great exhibits and plenty to take on so give yourself a few hours at least to get the most out of the visit.
Amazing day at the Aviation museum! The only aviation museum in Canada to have an Open Cockpit Day, which helps enhance the experience and inspires our next generation!
