Very pathetic. Doctors are not skilled enough to diagnose the disease conditions. As soon as they see the patient child, they come to conclusions based on the general trend prevailing in the community rather than doing proper testsing on individual disease conditions. A simple example, our child is suffering from fever, vomiting, and no apatite for a week, and the his wheezing could be heard even from one meter distance. The doctor is saying, his lungs are clear and no need for any treatment. Only God can save the community. Thanks

Very bad experience, survive was horrible and when we met the people inside, they were rude. There were many employees but nobody came to us.
I do not recommend going there at all.

Cafeteria is very clean and server people are very nice and approachable especially Raiza and Rugene.
Offering condiments and their foods.

Waiting time is ridiculous! And some doctors here will order unnecessary imaging even they already knew what the real problem is.

My son had a very long procedure done in endocrinology, and the nurses there were awesome! They gave my son $15 Apple card for good behavior

I’m gonna say my history. I see here comments about parking, time-wasting, facilities, incompetence and racism. I hope it helps other people.

I have been there with my boy having a hard pain in his low abdomen right side, at the end it's been appendicitis and they had to do surgery intervention to remove it.

THE PARKING: we paid about 15$ for 24 hours, doesn't seem too bad if you compare it with downtown parking. I think the rates are the same in all Alberta hospitals.

Once we arrived the admission lady realized his pain and immediately sent us to a private room to wait and the nurses attended to him while we waited for the doctor.

WAITING TIME: of course long but I guess it is a rule in Canada, so nothing new.

FACILITIES: Excellent. Everything is super well equipped and kept.

ATTENTION: That's the main reason why I give 5 stars to the hospital; every single person who it's been in contact with us (at least 15 persons) it's been super friendly and empathic with my boy’s pain: doctors, nurses, assistants, security, reception. We have absolutely no complaints.

The doctor who did the surgery it's been an amazing lady, she came at least 3 times to speak with us to explain everything, to make sure we were ok and helped us to stay calm and confident with the procedure.

We didn't feel any kind of racism, the team who works in the hospital is super multicultural so no chance for that kind of thing.

May be better to improve the waiting times but for the rest, our whole experience during this hard time it's been really good.

Thank you so much to everyone in the hospital.

My daughter went in for a tonsillectomy. It's a common procedure and they took care of some other things. We stayed overnight and went home. Soon it was apparent that the swelling was too much. I took her back to the er and she was being treated by one of the surgeon's team. They had her back in a bed in 25 minutes. We ended up staying 2 more days.
I slept in a remarkably comfortable seat for a total of 3 days.
The staff. From the cleaners to the nurses and the surgeon's was amazing. The nurses were especially amazing. They were on it. Well informed and kind.every single one! I haven't seen so much kindness and love.
I live in the States. There are stories on the news about how the socialized medical system in Canada is a failure.
It isn't. What I saw was definitely a different system that is as effective and way more people based than we have in the States.
My thanks to the entire staff and the administration of the hospital. You are doing an amazing job for Alberta.
Special thanks to Dr Olivia. She was a great with my daughter and took the time to make sure that she recovered quickly.

I'm from BC visiting. Waited about 5-6 hours. It was alright but they should come up with a better set up in emerg for parents with babies and little ones and give them atleast something to do if they are gonna wait THAT long. Maybe a couch to? Lol.

Broken bones a lot and it’s fun. A doctor would give me a popsicle. Only bad part is that it takes a lot of waiting time

Ugly
My son and I had to wait from 11am to 4pm on 1st March 2023 before getting called in. The Canadian medical system is broken to the core and I hope someone somewhere is striving to fix it. 0 stars.

Bad
While we were thoroughly enjoying our 5 hour wait, I was reprimanded by a staff from admitting that I was being too loud on the phone. I felt bad and said sorry but learnt from my son later that I wasn't loud. Looks like she was just being unfair to me.

The nurse did a bad job with the poke for blood culture.

Good
The doctor listened carefully, understood the issue and followed up with diagnostic imaging and blood work. 5 stars.

I took my daughter in emergency around 4: 30 and waited till 9: 00 pm i mean seriously does that emergency are for.
Government should do something pls reduce waiting time for kids at least for god sake.

Unless super necessary, refrain from bringing your child here if your family doctor is able to help instead. The wait time is ridiculously long and you could easily be waiting for more than 8hours. Happened to me twice.

Excellent care and professional service! Very pleased with our visit. Our wait time was 3-4 hours but completely worth it. The staff was very professional and friendly. They are awesome with kids.

It was not funny! Is it emergency service in the first world country? Are you kidding me?
Waiting time was 6 hours!

I will give 5 stars for the service that they have done for my son. The doctor was good at doing a physical examination; very detailed, and no rush at all. He was able to find out what was wrong with my son. The triage and ER nurses were friendly and very accommodating; they even offered some free food while waiting for the doctor. Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do about the long waiting; it is not the doctor's or nurses' fault; it is the system. So thank you again for your service!

This hospital is like my secondth home. I'm a patient there, and the staff make sure that my mom and I are welcome and taken good care of whenever we are in need of help.

After 6 hrs waiting to get my 4 years old son to know why his face is swelling. I saw the lady at the doctors reception getting other people in and letting us wait. Racism is a true thing in Canada.

We were told that it would be around a six hour wait for a bed to speak to mental health. We waiting for 7 hours to be told that the mental health specialists don't come at night and that they don't want us to wait for them to get there for their regular shift and sent us home. I really doubt that this is a new development in their schedule! We should have been told this when we came in. Also, good to know that suicide of a minor isn't something they care enough about to come to the hospital. Because no one kills themselves at night, right? Pathetic.

It was 1h our 16 minutes waiting time and my son admitted in at around 11am. However not a turn till 2: 54 pm. The posted waiting time is already over and man patients who were behind my son were called but not call to us. I understand the serious patients would be seen first but all patients back of us were obviously not serious, I believe. Wanted to know the reason and the people before us but a nurse advised to come through line again. Why such a big hospital has so poor service?
28 October 2022 8:26
My son was admitted for few days in children hospital. We have received exceptional services, doctors and nurses were great and they took very good care of my son. Communication about my son’s health was very clear, frequent, professional and helpful. My prayers and best wishes are for all the hospital staff.

Every Doctor, nurse or specialist we’ve encountered here has been amazing. When it comes to breathing and oxygen levels they don’t mess around. My daughter has been diagnosed with Viral induced asthma and we were in the hospital for 5 days. They would not send us home until they were comfortable with her oxygen levels over night. They were thorough with the diagnosis and made sure we knew what we needed to do for her when we left. I’m so grateful to live somewhere where we have this place of resource for kids.

Spent several weeks in the ACH with our son, can’t say enough how kind, professional, and caring all of the staff were, Doctors, Nurses, RTs, Social workers, etc.facility is spotless and absolutely 1st class!
03 October 2022 5:05
Yes, you'll wait in ER but only if you're not an emergency, that's what initial intake and triage is for.
We waited for 6 hours today but that also means that someone else's kid got an immidiate care they needed.
The doctors and nurses are phenomenal and I truly appreciate everything they're doing for our children.
All those complaining about wait times should count their blessings. It's not like the staff is sitting around chatting. They're working their butts off and I'm happy I get to live at a place where my kid can get that kind of care.
Thank you!

Imagine going to the emergency just to wait 4 hours.what kind of emerg is that? An ex con male triage nurse said we are short staff.ahs is short staff on nurses from 2008 and yet waiting times in 2015 to 2019 were way shorter. AhS should weed out some triage nurses from ACH as they dont have any manners and training to calm the already worried parents.

Horrible. I arrived there 8pm and the doctor didn’t see my son till 3am. Waste of time… is it what we would expect of the 3rd most liveable city in the world?
