There should be ZERO star for this lab. No point of booking an appointment here coz they don’t go by appointments but just randomly call even after taking the names for an appointment. No one is there to assist you when you go there.

Big joke of Southern Alberta! They changed my appointment from 1pm to 11: 10am, I sat at rhe Coaldale Health centre til 11: 33am, only to be told that my appointment was at 1pm. So I called them, sat on the phone for 20 minutes, only to have one of their staff members hang up on me when I confronted them about it. The place is run by a bunch of non english speaking idiots!
I called back again requesting to speak to the manager, and another male staff member refused to put me through to management. The place is the biggest joke!

This place used to be good, and now is terrible. Booked an appointment, arrived 15 minutes early, waited 40 minutes without being called on (while about 30 other people were called on), and then had to leave without getting helped as I had another appointment I didn't want to be late for. My suggestion.if you cannot honor an appointment, you shouldn't be taking them. Please bring back the previous service

I usually book an appointment for a lab test. This time I had to walkin because my doctor need a blood test sample on my period day 2. I came at 6: 20 (They're open 6: 30am). There's already 30+ people waiting in the line outside of the mall entrance.

I waited 30mins and checkes in with my prescription. Another wait of TWO AND HALF HOURS to get a blood test and I left at 9: 30. I had to take half day off from work sadly. That's super ridiculus.

I don't want to blame the employees they've been working hard and politely. The booking system, the lack of employees make it painful for everyone.

FYI: There is a separate line for appointments. I was in the walk in line for 15 minutes (the lady in front of me said it was just the one line and when I looked at the reviews so did another review) before another lady with an appointment asked the front desk and clarified that there is a second line (thank you to her for double checking!). Once I was in the right line, I was checked in and waited only a few minutes for a room and the nurse. I overheard the walk in wait was over 4 hours so definitely worth making an appointment if you can.

No point in having an appt, totally understaffed. They were almost 45 minutes behind and should have stopped taking walk-ins 1.5-2 hrs earlier. Lots of room for improvement

I was hesitant to go here today based on some of the scathing reviews but I must say, today, there were absolutely no problems.

The staff were efficient but not rude, the walk-in wait time was very reasonable and the staff were very kind and caring with my young child who was getting blood drawn today.

It is worth mentioning our visit was during the afternoon rather than the morning so there’s a chance that helped us have a better experience? So relieved it was smooth sailing.

For a lab that claims they are trained to do paediatric blood draws, don’t go here! This service needs to be done at the Children’s Hospital (like it was pre-pandemic). We waited 40 mins past our appointment time in a crowded lab (not easy with a 2 yr old). We were put in a regular room when the “kid friendly room” was empty. I asked if we could use the kid room and was informed “we are too busy, if you want that room you will have to wait a lot longer. ” There was nothing kid friendly/positive about the blood draw, no gentle interactions with my child, no distraction, no explanation about what was about to happen. Two staff held his arm/inserted needle while he screamed. No after care instructions were given. This is the 2nd negative experience I’ve had. This creates negative experiences for children and families.

My sister has been gone for almost three hours and still waiting to get her blood work done, I am now late to where I have to be because I’m watching her children so I called the location to speak with a supervisor, and the wait for that was half hour, this is so messed up they told her she had four people ahead of her it’s like sitting in the emergency room, I only gave one star so I could write this not because they deserve it, Rude staff don’t communicate properly! Ridiculous

This location has turned into a joke. How can you lose urine sample 2 days in a roll? I did not use the drop off box today because you claim that how samples are mixed up yesterday. I waited in line today for 30mins to talk to the counter and made sure the labels are filles correctly and the staff reconfirm it will be fine. Just got a call from children hospital that you lost my sample again.

Come here and wait 2 to 3 hours for a test. Book an appointment and still wait 2 hours. Front desk tells you a couple minutes; that means 2 hours. If they say you'll be waiting for at least an hour; forget about even waiting.you're not getting in before end of day.

Too bad lab, too bad staff
I waited in this lap for 4 hours and 35 minutes to do a regular blood test, which will not take more than 1 minute. And every single time I ask the staff at the front desk how many people ahead of me, they always answer 15 persons, for the whole 4 hours and half they did not even finish 1 patients of the patients ahead of me, which means they don't work, and just creating a plapla reasons like we doing our best to help, we are in a transition period to Dynalife and a lot of unacceptable reasons. I ended up to leave this stupid place after 4 and half hours of waiting without doing the blood test. After Dynalife takeover those labs the service will be much worst from before.
No respect for people and the staff never appreciate patients time and they are not working.
I don't recommend thus lab to anyone.

Everyone is very nice and the lineup moves relatively quickly but there are longs waits and the space is quite small.

The receptionist was so rude. There was an asian elder talking to her and might not be able to understand that much English. The elder could only ask the receptionist multiple times but still didn't really get what she said. It was understandable that it was a bit hard to explain to an elder who did not know English pretty well, but she just yelled at him. Didn't know how to speak English did not mean that she can yell at him, wasn't it? That was so mean.

I made an appointment for blood work today for 3: 00pm, I was still waiting at 4: 00pm! What’s the point of making an appointment then?
If I hadn’t gotten up and asked how much longer it would be, I would still have been waiting there.

I came here today at 12.33 pm and around 2 pm I asked them how long it will take to do the tests. She said another 20 minutes. So I told her I will just go out and grab some snacks then. Then I heard my name, so I rushed to the lab and the nurse said they called me already at 1.55pm and now they have to put me to the back of the line! I said I asked you guys and then left and you just called me right after I left! She avoided my question and kept saying if I still want to do the test which will take more 45 minutes to get called again. I told her I left two kids including a newborn. She kept saying the same thing if I want to do the tests or not! And she told me I am not supposed to leave the lab which definitely I wasn’t told before. One of the worst days in my life.

Ridiculously long wait times. Lab opens at 6: 30, got here at 6: 34 and the line was already wrapped around the corridor. I get that seniors wake up early and have nothing to do all day, but it would be courteous to leave this prime time for those who work or have other things scheduled. Finally got to reception and checked in at 7: 05, and then waited. And waited. And waited. Currently 9: 00 on the dot and have at least been called into a room. Any tech in sight? No. So we continue to wait… and wait. From the information I’ve gather, they have a skeleton crew until 10 which is when their full staff load arrives. Would it not make sense to be fully staffed from open to close, knowing how many people come in first thing? As well, after asking, I was told that patients are prioritized based on complexity of their requisition. So the less things you need done the faster you will get seen. This is ridiculous, should be first come first served with full staff capacity. Would never come here again, have never waited 2 hours for bloodwork. As I type this it is now 9: 05. So EXACTLY. 2 hours of waiting. For a 5 min appointment. Make it make sense.

This place is the worst place to go to get blood work done. I took my elderly grandma there to get blood work and they told her she was early and that she’d have to wait outside for 40 minutes, unacceptable and very unprofessional

I wish I had an option to give them even 0 star. I went there at 9 for walk in and waited for almost 4 hours. Disorganized way of taking appt and walkin patient. Please think million time before coming here, if you don’t want to waste your time and energy. So disappointed and never gonna comeback. They shouldn’t have walkin if they cannot handle.

If you don't have an appointment you could stay for hours be prepared. They should be considering walk in too. The reason I do walk In cz the online booking could gives you a month after.

The folks who complain here are mostly walk-ins, which I understand that 2 hours wait and longer is abysmal.

BUT

If you are able to book an appointment ahead of time then it's just so much easier, great people over there who do a fine job, never had any issues waiting too long or anything when it comes to appointments.

I've used this clinic for all my blood work since moving to Calgary 2 years ago and I've been very happy with the service I've received. At first I booked my appointments ahead of time but recently I've resorted to arriving early (6: 30 AM) and have never waited more than an hour to get through the process. Considering the demand and all the Covid protocols that is not an unreasonable wait time.the staff have always been pleasant and professional.

I've probably been here about a dozen times in the past decade for one sort of test or another (mostly blood work). I'm not fond of needles (who is?) but each time it was relatively painless to get blood samples regardless of who was on staff. Most times I've booked appointments online and found the system easy to navigate. However, they are a busy site so it can be several weeks to find an opening. In that case, I just go for a Walk-In appointment. It's generally a wait of an hour so I just bring along something to read to occupy the time. During Covid it has taken a bit longer due to all the added safety protocols. The one thing that would be helpful is to have an option to receive an automated text message approximately 15 minutes before an appointment is available. This would free up time for people to do other things while waiting. The staff I've encountered have always been great so I would definitely recommend this place based on my experience.

Didnt introduce herself. I had to read name tag. Other person watching her or training her had no name tag and didnt introduce either. Never explained Anything to the 4 year old! Didnt talk to him or say great job. He didnt move. Kept arm still and didnt cry. Pretty impressive. They again were robotic. Shame on them. They need to know they are setting a tone for future pokes. No wonder ppl are afraid of needles as adults. Training needs revamping for these ppl. I asked for a cute bandaid. 4 yr olds get a cotton ball. Great reward.

The girl who did my blood test was very nervous and she wasn’t able to do it in a right way.she hurts both my arms to grab a little bit blood. I am not a sensitive person and I have been in several labs to do blood test.but this place was the worst.

I would give five star for the staff inside but the GIRL at front door as door screener totally lacks customer service skills. She is very rude and made me feel that I did something wrong.

The nurses were excellent but the service upfront is atrocious. I nearly got sent back just for not having ID when the reason I was there did not require it. Especially, if you can, avoid the black lady upfront because she carries an unnecessarily rude attitude. I only identify her as black b/c I don't know her name but go for any of the front desk ladies if you don't want to deal with the rudeness.

Very professional and friendly. Called in to ask about walk in availability, they were almost insistent on booking an appointment. It wasn't necessary. I was 12th in the screening queue in front of the lab and was there a total of 1hr, 45min. Noticed people with appointments in the queue were there a little over 30min, but booking an appointment is a month out. If you phone the appointment line they will not give you this insight. This was my experience, hope this helps. Busiest lab in Calgary, as they told me. Regular lab work results were back in one week, just an FYI.

Located inside the mall. Easy parking and access. Great service. Helpful staff and usually quick service, with covid ofcourse things tend to take a bit longer but still being managed very well. They do everything to help you. They have 3 different lines- drop off, appointments and walk-ins which keeps customers organized and serviced appropriately. They have also added overflow seating outside. I have recommend this location.

Was jammed this morning, but I did get an appointment at 7am for 820am same day. Was in and out in 45 mins. People who show up without appointments.why? Go online and book it. Check in the morning for cancellations. Pretty simple. Busy place but helped alot of people this morning. Did take a little long and was uncomfortably full, but an ok experience. If people act a little more human to each other maybe the world would be a better place.

They were very unreasonable. I have a daughter who is hyper and I am a single parent so the only way that i can get a blood test is if i bring her with me. I asked the girl at the front if i could give my file to the front desk and come back in 40 minutes (The wait time was 1.5 hours). The girl told me that once im inside my daughter has to sit and we cant wait anywhere else. We have to wait inside. And i had to go in to give a form to them. The girl in the front also refused to take a blood test of one person that came with a full face shield.

My mother is a senior handicapped person. She is paralyzed and uses a cane to walk. Today, January 7th, 2020 at 2: 30 pm she went in with her caregiver to get blood taken. She used a cart today to get around because it is easier for her. When she got to the front there was a blonde woman in her 30's or 40's who saw that she had a cart and told her that she wasn't supposed to have a cart and that it has to be returned and before my mother had an opportunity to even say to her that she needs to have her cane for balance and to wait a moment, she took the cart out of my mom's hands and so aggresively and suddenly that my mom fell to the ground and hit her head, arm and knee and threw her shoes off! She didn't even help her up! Literally knocked her shoes off! I cannot believe there is a person who responds in this way to patients. Absolutely unacceptable.

The place seems very poorly run/organized. Luckily I was just in for a urine sample so I didn't have to wait, but in my short time there, customers names were being called and told which room to go to, with no directions, before they had even come up to the front, which resulted in a ton of people wandering the hallway trying to figure out where they were going. The waiting room was quite busy as well.

The only thing one needs is, if you do not speak English, or very well, it is good to have a translator with you. I met a lady there last time who assumed everything the lab technicians were saying to her. As she did not understand the correct meaning of the words said.

I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews, I've been here a bunch of times and the staff is amazing. If you're not prepared or being ignorant then anywhere can have a negative experience. I stopped by today and I have a grandmother with MSA and has a lot of labs to do and the staff were incredible. There was a long line up and I'm sure they were unbelievably stressed but everyone handled the rush with decorum. Very happy with the service!

Choosing this one was a big mistake even earlier in the morning. About an hour and half waiting minimum. Lines are usually outside and full. It is Covid-19 times and no place to seat because it is too busy.

Very unimpressed. In my first visit, I had to wait for the better part of an hour despite booking an appointment. I watched people who said they hadn't booked an appointment walk in and out while I was waiting, and the whole process seemed completely disorganized.

More recently, I had to drop off a post-vas sample, and I had clear (written) instructions from my doctor that the sample had to be in before 10: 30 AM. I phoned ahead just to make sure and, thank god I did, because I was informed that the sample actually had to be in before 10 AM or it wouldn't be accepted. I carefully asked if there were any other requirements and followed everything they said.

Fine, no problem. I deliver the sample at 9: 30 AM. Almost two weeks go by. This morning, I get a call from my doctor's clinic telling me that the sample has been cancelled. No explanation why from the CLS. The doctor is surprised they didn't call me first, because they're supposed to.

I have to assume they just didn't get to the sample on time, which is completely their fault. Now, apparently, I have to repeat the whole process. If this is indicative of how they treat other samples, you'd best avoid this location.

If I could give one star I would. Was waiting for my blood work to begin and I admit I was on the phone. A woman with pink hair came in suddenly. I was trying to get off the phone and in a very rude tone said she will help someone else and not me and stormed off to the next patient. I don't appreciate that especially when I plan to come there. Not sure if I will return to this location. July 31.

Make an appointment and you never wait more than 5 minutes!
If you walk in you can wait anywhere from 10 minutes to 1.5 hours depending on how busy!
People complaining about wait times, be smart and make an appointment!:)

Had an appointment and I got in really quick. Staff was friendly, it surprised me after reading all these reviews. I had a great experience. Btw, the clinic is inside the mall.took me a while to find it, I kept looking for a door on the outside.
