I was here yesterday to get my blood tested. I understand they are extremely short staffed and most likely underpaid but when you call a patients name have them sit down and you add the elastic band around their arm please verify their first and last name along with health care number as the young man at the desk did when I initially walked in. Turned out there was another individual had the same names as me before the nurse inserted the needle I let her know the medical profile pulled up is not me nor did it match my health care number she came back stoned face didn’t say whoops sorry about that she said go sit back down. The one star is for the houseless man that came in and really livend up the place and the two kind ladies that kept such positive conversation going.
Went in on Nov 22 at 730pm. Lady at desk asked if I had an appointment. Told her No. She said I was not allowed to walk-in quite rudely even though website says walk-in available 30mins before closing. There was only 1 person in the waiting room. Then we wonder why lab work is so booked. Website should state no walk-ins on Wednesday evenings.
I've been to this lab almost once a month this past year to get my tests done. The first few times I couldn't get an appointment, so had to wait in line. Once I was able to book appointments, it was a breezy visit, in and out in about 10 minutes. Even waiting in line, I wanna say the front office staff are super nice and doing the best they can. Recently I heard they also have a mobile center for taking certain tests, so I've seen the wait time go down by a lot.
Been here so many times for blood test. Always as a walk-in longest I’ve had to wait is 5-10 minutes. My only complaint is give us bigger vials for urine samples lol
Waiting is unbearable even you have an appointment 3 months before. I had to fast and my blood sugar was going low. They call people in without an order. Some comes without an appointment and go before you. Staff is very unfriendly and not helpful. This is terrible experience when you are in SE Calgary when you don’t have no other lab place to go.
Julie is THE Rudest receptionist. I booked virtual save my spot slot. I have never booked this before and no instructions were provided. So I went there 10 mins before my appointment take make sure I’m not late. I stood at the front, first the receptionist had her own thing going on so of course she ignored me. Then when she called me over, I told her I booked the spot for 9: 34 and at this time it was 9: 28. She advised me that I need to wait for a text to come and then I can register. No problem at all, I was about to sit down and this lady screams literally, not here. You have to wait somewhere outside not inside, don’t sit here. Mind you the place was half empty. First of all, I’m not a 10 years old so do not speak to me like that. I have no problem giving you the same treatment. This place needs to review the reviews and look into why people are complaining so much about this awful place. People come here as they are not well. No one is here for the fun of it, so have some audacity.
If you go in the morning before they open at 6: 30 am and wait by the entrance door you can get it and out fast but if you are there at 6: 30 or later wait is more than an hour. No need for mask anymore.
Booked an appointment for 5: 30pm and waited patiently for 30+ minutes before getting called. Receptionist was friendly and confirmed my appointment. Told me to have a seat and when I asked her if she wanted to see my ID'S she said that the procedure is different now and will be asked for them by the tech. Got called by the tech and as I waited ìn the room, she came in and asked my name, spell it and say my date of birth. But didn't ask to see my photo ID and APHC. She then proceeded to input, I don't know what, in the computer. She the said I have to pee after drawing my blood. I told her I didn't feel like peeing. As I was saying this she was in the process of taking the container from the drawer but when she heard my response, she rolled her eyes and unceremoniously dropped the container in the drawer and slammed it shut! I then asked her if she as upset because I can't pee and she said that she wasn't, but her actions proved otherwise. Stella then told me "you should've told me! " To which i replied, I know the tests my physician requires because I'm being monitored and do this every 3 months. I further added that I've been in occasions wherein if I cannot do it, the technician would just hand me the container in a bag and say to come back with my specimen and write the info on the sticky. She went out of the room and came back with a photocopy of the requisition and handed me the plastic bag with it. Stella's problem is that she had to withdraw the request that she had done earlier in the computer but is passing the blame of her action, on me! How would I know what she was typing in the computer? If she told me beforehand what she was going to input in the computer, I would have said that I am not able to give the specimen at the moment. Not that I should have told her.and that she doesn't have to inform me! Stella needs a reminder on her communication and attitude when dealing with patients.
I am so disgusted with this for profit company and shame on our government for allowing this terrible service to happen. I have tests once per month so I see what goes on frequently. Very very under staffed and so slow. I had an appointment today but still waited over one hour. Many very ill people had been waiting for 4-5 hours. Never the same staff there so that tells me management is poor and they don’t pay their people enough. It was so much better before this company took over. Albertans need to speak up and make the government enforce the contracts for service levels!
I had an Appointment for 10: 30 am, but when I reached the lab I was told that I had to wait 30 - 45 minutes. I waited for a little while but my blood sugar was going down so I went to the reception desk to tell them. One of the Phillippino female employee at the reception desk rudely pointed me to the left and said, “Go and talk there, I can not do anything”. I saw Calvin and spoke to him. He took action and did my blood work. Calvin was very polite and helpful.
Sunpak clinic is now running efficiently! If you check in and the wait time is lengthy, they will give you your urine test to take in the clinic, as well as the FIT test to take home. You can return when they text you and the wait time is minimal! Marianne was the one who recommended this to me and she was professional and bright. What a lovely change with this new system AHS has implemented!
Since DynaLife took over services have deteriorated horribly. The wait times are well over 3hr+ for walk ins. They sending people to wait in their cars for hours no matter the weather outside. They promise to send you a message when your time is getting close but on two separate occasions I have waited to never receive the message and was told that they got my number wrong (person double checked and the number was correct so jot sure what is going on).
I attended the Sunpark location of Dynalife Labs today. The staff were all professional and courteous and kept everything moving efficiently. My appointment was at 9: 10 am and I was done and out of there in 20 minutes. Very impressed by the service that the staff provided.
I've been here many times before, but today (Friday late afternoon) was the busiest. Despite the chaos, staff remained professional, helpful and kind. Waiting time for walk ins a little over 2 hours.
It was a good managed place when it was under Calgary Laboratory services. Now under Dynalife it is a complete disaster. The waits for walk-ins are endless. And over 1.5 months wait to book an appointment.
Staff very rude and unprofessional, blaming patients that are walk ins for long wait times. I was there at 8am, for a test that needed to be collected before 10am, was told after 10am that the test couldn’t be collected and was blamed for being a walk in. 2 hour wait times are unacceptable for the low amount of patients currently waiting in the waiting room. Appointments were behind an hour as well. Go anywhere else, if this lab is an accurate representation of DynaLife then DynaLife should not be operating in the province of Alberta.
Everytime I go is typically quick and easy. However if nearing close (6pm) staff may be upset and rude. With my latest visit I waited at the counter after my samples weere taken with no one there until I saw someone walking to towards the counter. Upon saying "Excuse me. " to whom I believe was named lyla I was told "its not my Job to slave to you. " Before turning away and asking another staff member to help me. I understand not wanting to work past close or even being busy but a response such as that is rather rude and insulting. I just wanted help so I could leave and not be a bother. All other staff were helpful and courteous. Poor experiences reflect stronger on most individuals though sadly.
Came this morning to try and get blood work done. Looked up and saw the line is out in to the hallway. This used to be a quick in and out when it was run by Alberta precision labs.
I went for a blood test today. I didn't book an appointment. There was a good lineup, almost 12 people, until I was called. The reception lady registered me smoothly, and I waited another 10 minutes, when I was called. The lady who took my blood sample was amazingly a professional at her skills. We carried a good conversation by the time I was done and didn't feel any pain or discomfort during taking the sample.
Absolutely terrible! Should be rated -5 stars. Booked an appointment for a routine blood test for 11: 50am and it is 12: 45pm now and I am still waiting to be attended. Totally ignored.no apologies, no explanation.they just let all walk-ins through while people with booked appointment time are scammed. Total waste of time!
Horrible experience, no point of booking appointment. Staff highly uneducated in the work they do. It's a shame that we have to pay high taxes and get this in return
Wish I could give 0*. Came here today for a walk in at 8: 15 a.m. They told us 2 hours. After 2 and a half hours they called us (we were waiting in the lobby). Then had to spend another 3 and a half hours waiting. They even called people who were after us! So total 5 and a half hours on a so called 2 hours waiting time. GREAT JOB!
I came with my 4 year old as a walkin, the walkin time was pathetic. They are so slow! On top of all that the nurse that took my daughters blood stabbed the needle in her arm! My child was in shock, she just looked at me and I was so angry!
We always go to the lab next to Chinook station. Amazing women who work there. Never has my daughter cried once. She is always smiling during and after the blood test.
Pathetic! I have no idea the lab tech who took the blood was having a bad day or was just a nasty woman! I will never take my child to his location again! NEVER! Who stabs the needle in a child arm for Gods sakes!
First time I was here they were excellent and super nice and helped me with my anxiety, then the second time I came here they were snobby and bossy. One day was 5 stars, another day was 1 star.
Went to get my gestational diabetes blood work done. Most of the staff was kind and friendly. An hour after arriving, I asked to use the washroom and was instructed to give them a urine sample while I was in there. Upon exiting the washroom, a phlebotomist tersely asked me where I was and said she'd been calling me. (She said this, despite seeing me exit the washroom, obviously somewhere where I couldn't respond to her.) She told me it was past my time to get my blood work done and that it might be too late (which is troublesome, since appointments are booked about 3 weeks in advance, and I needed this appointment done within a specific timeframe). If blood collection is extremely time sensitive, they should have asked me to wait literally 5 minutes before going to the washroom and done my blood work first. How could I have possibly known better, especially when I was doing what a staff member told me to do? While the phlebotomist was nice after her initial outburst, I think this was totally avoidable. I might now be unable to have my gestational diabetes blood work properly done within the specified timeframe, due to their error. In the future, I recommend staff communicate better with each other and agitated tones not be taken with patients for mistakes for which they are not culpable and which will not be amended by rudeness.
I had about 10 blood tests here over the years. It’s the best place to get blood test at. There’s difference in skill between the nurses doing the blood test. Some do it so you can’t feel it at all, some do it so that you will feel a pinch for 0.5-1second. Nothing too bad! The worst part is waiting. Some rooms have windows so you can watch the parking lot, cars, people while waiting and it helps to distract yourself this way!
Drove in to Calgary to get some walk in blood work, understanding with the state of the world there may be a bit of a wait.
However the disorganization and lack of courtesy on the part of the staff went beyond even what can be understood given what they are probably dealing with on a daily basis.
I fully appreciate what a difficult and stressful job the nurses and staff in that lab must have right now, but please understand you’re also dealing with humans who are likely not there getting blood taken for happy reasons. Expecting them to wait for 4 hours, be spoken to rudely, be told they’re liars about how long they’ve been waiting, be told they did something wrong by lining up in line (and for not checking in when there was no place to check in?) … this is also not the answer. Courtesy is needed on both sides.
I do hope the situation gets better for all the staff, and perhaps by default the patients who are getting treated so poorly will also start getting better service. I will not be back, but, given that it’s government funded, this bad review and my lack of business will hardly matter to them, I suppose.
So - it can just be a warning to my fellow patients - go elsewhere if you can. Cheers.
Their organization in covid times is really good, it does take time to get through but thats because they are doing their job to protect everyone. Staff were very polite and easy to deal with. I don't agree that they were slow, people need to get more patient, everyone is doing their job and we must appreciate that we have these essential workers who are running the Healthcare systems.
Staff at this place couldn't move any slower. Be prepared for long wait times and extremely rude staff. I have been three times and have had continually worse experiences. I was so given a wrong test by the nurse once as they couldn't be bothered to read the requisition form properly.
Extremely inefficient, lazy and lethargic staff. They don’t have any value for peoples time. If you try to book an appointment it won’t be available for months. If you manage it to book for let’s say at 2 PM. Consider yourself lucky if you get in at 2: 30 PM for actual blood work. They all should be fired, need new staff!
Alberta Precision Laboratories are a lost cause. Went there for a blood test walk in in the morning and was told to wait behind a 5km line like that was ever gonna happen. Staff are very unprofessional on top of that, no wonder the whole place is in chaos. Lost cause: (
Staff treated me very well! I didn't realize my appointment was at 5: 00PM and for some reason put 12: 20 in my calendar. They let me in anyways and I only waited a few minutes. My doctor was very friendly.
My blood test appointment was scheduled for 2: 20, it’s now 2: 50. I understand with COVID the operations are different than over a year ago and at the same time, this wouldn’t happen if the office was being run like a business. There are 3 people (at least) that have been waiting for over an hour and need to get back to work right away. One technician just came in saying ‘that was a good lunch’ in front of all of us waiting. While I appreciate this is health care, at least ‘good’ or average custom service is still possible. I hope to have a better experience next time.
Worst service ever. There are line ups despite booking an appointment even during covid 19. The washroom was not clean and the worst was that we were there mainly to have a CBC done and they did two other tests and forgot the CBC! Now when I call to see why, they say if you want a CBC you have to come back for us to take a new sample. Not acceptable.
Worst place among all the labs I went in Calgary, I went for a walk in test around 8 am in the morning, they took the the name and told to wait outside until they call me. They won't tell any approximate wait time, I waited 2 and half hour already and not sure how long have to wait more. Really bad service management and unfriendly stuff at this location.
If I could give zero stars, I would. My appointment was at 9: 50 and gave the form to the lady in the front. After an hour of waiting, I went to the front and asked for the status of my appointment. Apparently, the woman who took my form in, didn’t put it in the system and they went to go look for the form. This is unorganized and a waste of my time.
Not health services at all, if they cannot take emergencies. I went there yesterday to test my beta hcg (because I could have a miscarriage) and the guy in the door don't even allow me to get in. He just said I can come back 6: 30am in the morning which is their walking hour. He checked my requisition, and he knew was going on, and he just let me go alone and crying. I had a hard time after that on the parking lot, I couldn't even started me car. Couldn't they take me as walking in? Is that a health service? Well, in my case, not really.
If you take the stairs u will miss the check-in station wait inline then go back to the end of line. This sheep herding is stupid. What's the point of appointment, when they make u wait forever?
First and only time here today.long wait even when you had an appointment (i waited an hour and 15) when other labs you’re in and out— this resulted in tons of angry people which creates an uncomfortable environment when people are swearing under their breath and sighing loudly.they need a better system especially during a time like this, the line to even get checked in went around the whole waiting area and when people don’t have instruction or know what to do they just crowd around and linger.when i finally got in - the lady who took my blood (jackie) was very sweet and made me feel comfortable:)
It's hard to give a single rating as there are really three things to rate: how much time it took to get in, how knowledgeable and considerate the staff were, and how efficient and stress-free was the actual procedure.
Time: 3/5 I went for a walk-in twice, once on a Sunday morning, and once on Tuesday morning. Sunday was rough as they were juggling walk-ins with the people with appointments so it took a total of 4 hours to get in and out. Tuesday was far easier as from 6: 30 to 8, it's only walk-ins so I was in and out in an hour.
Staff: 4/5 On both occasions there were absolutely lovely techs, and then one or two less so. I remember on Sunday, there was one lady who was organizing the line a bit harshly, but her replacement was even worse as she was clueless on how to manage the crowd and gave inaccurate wait-time estimates. However, the techs who drew my blood were very accommodating, friendly, and put me at ease.
Procedure: 5/5 Both times, the procedure went very, very smoothly. The techs got my vein on the first shot and I could barely feel the needle. Exactly what I hoped getting bloodwork done should be like.
Man has this place changed for the better. I remember waiting here 2hrs + in the past but now I was in and out in 20 mins for a walk in.
But man was the little Asian lady ever rough. Jabbed the needle in my arm like she was stabbing a watermelon with a knife. Other than that this place has improved exponentially.
Parking here is horrendous. Driving for way too long trying to get a spot, along with 20 others. Yet there are a ton of staff spots open still. The balance here isn't quite right and should be fixed. Very frustrating.
Excellent care, very efficient staff, I am always treated nicely here by everyone. I have monthly blood tests so can say I'm here 12 times a year and have lots of experiences to base my opinion & review on.
I would give it 0 if i could. You cant be even 5 minutes late for your appointment. They told me i have to be a walk in which is 3 hours wait. I booked the the appointment 1 month in advance. No work ethics.
This is pathetic! Waiting time for walk ins is a joke! Waiting for over 2 hours! If you want to get done early book an appointment, no wonder this place has so much negative reviews and if you want to have a good reviews please improve your waiting time for walk ins!
Make an appointment well in advance, if you can. I didn’t have that luxury, and came as a walk-in. Staff told me the wait for walk-ins was over 90 minutes. I waited for 91 (timed it, just to see) before being called to a room.
The actual lab tech was a student, with supervisor present. He was very professional and made sure I was comfortable. I didn’t notice a difference between him and anyone else who has ever drawn blood from me. The room was clean, and I saw the tech clean the area after me.
Parking is essentially non-existent, due to volume of people in and out, so plan accordingly.
First time I came in as walk-in - was told it would be an hour wait - was waiting more than 1,5 hour. They deeply don't care it was a time sensitive test. Next time with appointment I was waiting 30 minutes, again time sensitive test. After first time they received a call from Anti-coagulation center, as I'm their patient. So second time the lab took my blood, but DID NOT do my test. Never will go there again.
Was told it would be an hour wait as a walk-in. Three and a half hours later I left as it was a time sensitive test. Brutal. People with appointments are waiting 40 minutes.
If I could give 0 stars I would. Came in today just before 10am as a walk-in, was told an hour wait. I left at 11: 40am without getting my test done because I had to pick up my son from school. I shouldn't have even have to come in today but this test was missed by the receptionist when I came in on Friday to do all my tests. Waited over an hour on Friday and over an hour an a half today. They have 6 receptionists but they had only one person calling in everyone to do their tests. I was in the waiting area beside the receptionist who was taking in patients and I was watching her. I noticed when there was no one waiting in line, she just sat there. I mean, if you guys are busy, you shouldn't just be sitting there. I was not even 2 feet away from her and I was fully turned around in my seat watching her. I know she felt uncomfortable because she kept on looking at me. I felt bad doing it but it was hard to watch her do nothing when there was no one to serve. What's the point of having 6 receptionists if they are sitting and doing nothing. I have worked in Alberta Healthcare so I am saying this with experience. Waste of money in my opinion. Take the DynaLife lab in Fort McMurray for example, the technicians are the receptionists and the same people doing the tests. And this lab is more busy than this place. When I took my requisition back, the lady said "The announcement said it was an hour and a half wait". I told her that the announcement was broadcasted only 20 minutes ago. I reiterated that I came in just before 10 and the receptionist said it was an hour wait or less since more staff just came in.
Make sure you do not just walk in for services. Was quoted 1.5 hour wait and still waiting for over 2 hours now. They need more technicians to service the public.
