It's definitely fun for the whole family. Everyone enjoyed themselves while going in, and it if the train and going on a little train ride. We spent at least 3 hours here looking around at everything. They sell cold treats, drinks and chips where you buy your tickets.

I really enjoyed seeing the history of this place and all the knowledge it holds. Highly recommend proper footwear as you will be climbing in and out of trains and going between carts would not be enjoyable for anyone with heels or flip flops. There is so much interesting history and easy to get lost in it for hours. There is a bit of walking but this place is somewhere you can come by again and again and learn something new!

Excellent museum, with unique pieces. The only rail museum I know of with a full work train on display.

This is simply a fantastic place! The staff (all volunteers) are very kind, helpful, and have an obvious passion for the service and knowledge they want to provide you with.a short (but awesome) train ride costs you a measly $6/person and all the displays this museum has to offer makes this place hands down one of the best ways to do something interesting and different with your family (or even by yourself) for the better part of a day! Super thumbs up to this place for being a must visit location around the Edmonton area!

Pretty neat place Train ride is 500 meters back and forth, 4 and 6 year old didn't even enjoy the ride.

Very cool experience, we really enjoyed walking through the trains that are set up at the museum. It would be nice to come back without kids to see it at a pace where we could read some of the information, but even without that very interesting seeing what train travel looked like. Went for a ride in the train as well, a couple laps back and forth, but enough for the kids to experience some train travel.

Cute train museum, and I'd say the admission is a fair price, and the speeder train ride is also fairly priced.
Lots of cool info, but I highly suggest not going there on a hot summer's days! None of the trains/train cars are ventilated, so it's like touring through informative saunas, leaving a trail of sweat behind you. Not somewhere for kids under 7-8 as my 5 and 3 year old were kinda bored. And the prices of the gifts at the gift shop are staggeringly expensive. But where isnt?
The garden is absolutely gorgeous though.

For sure we will comeback!
A great place to learn about the railway in Alberta and if you have a kid obsessed with train this is a perfect place to visit.

I had the opportunity to cook a Father's Day Brunch here for 18 people and I wanted to thank the Director- Stephen Yakimets for making this happen. This Museum is a wonderful place to explore our past and enjoy a afternoon escape.

Amazing, so much history and you get to actually climb up inside and see first hand how the train systems operated.

Very nice off the beaten path Museum. Only open weekends during the summer but it's a great place to take the kids. So many variety of train cars. Hopefully they can score some retired VIA Rail sets to have more modern cars in the collection. Contains a small gift shop as well.

Some of the displays could use a comb over as the display text sometimes can be seen fallen off. It's what happens when only foam poster board and scotch tape is used.

The Alberta Railway Museum (ARM) is truly a must visit place! The story of the railway is intertwined with the story of our country and ARM does an excellent job of telling the story with railway equipment that worked the rails in Alberta. In addition, there is a large collection of artifacts that are displayed in a very understandable way. Kudos have to be given to the unseen volunteers who spend their time to not only maintain the collection but also restore important artifacts. As far as I am aware, ARM is the only non-government museum that has an operating steam locomotive and a 250t crane! Covid has been hard on every business but museums have really suffered, your admission fee can help ARM survive plus you will learn a lot of interesting information. Note that the speeder rides and looking at the collection was a big hit with the kids.

Absolutely engaging! Full of historical memorabilia and lots to read. We were there for hours, best money spent the entire weekend.
