The bad: Do not take a road test at this location. Examiner kept yelling at me during the test which definitely got me extremely anxious, the score I got was extremely harsh, feedback was condescending (I passed my class 5 THE NEXT DAY at a registry facility) and it seemed like they only want to you to pay twice, not worth the discount.
The good: The staff that took care of registration and everything outstanding. They couldn’t find my road test appointment, but as it was after a long weekend it was understandable and a 10 minute fix. I still think though having an appointment 9: 15 when you open at 9 is not logical when it’s asked of people to arrive 30 minutes before, but no bigger problem.

I recently had to change my personal and business vehicle addresses, and it was quite confusing. However, Rebecca went above and beyond to make the process easy and even helped me save some money. Very helpful, knowledgeable staff! Service was quick, I waited for less than 5 minutes to speak to someone. I will never go anywhere but AMA for my registry/passport needs because they actually train their staff properly and care about their members. I always have a good experience regardless of the branch I visit (and regret it when I have gone to any other registry due to long wait times, incompetent staff, given inaccurate advice, etc.)

Not the best experience. Went in to sign up as a new customer, not but an hour earlier I was on the AMA webpage and it states that you could pay either monthly or yearly. When I spoke to one of the reps they stated that they don’t do monthly payments anymore. I did mention and pull up the website and was told that’s just how it is. Not a great start and definitely not a great customer experience.

I called yesterday for towing service.

No one show up and had to cancel all my appointments just to sit home and wait.

Then i called back and they told me sorry we are extremely busy waited another 3 hours no show.

Called a towing company from kijiji and they came within 1 hr.

Not recommended at all. They probably have a lot client and don't have enough of supply.

I am writing to express my deep disappointment with the service I received from AMA (Alberta Motor Association) regarding the driving lessons for my son.

Initially, I chose AMA based on the recommendation of Solomon, whom I was trained by in 2011. I booked the basic package for my son, expecting a similar experience to the one I had with Solomon.

However, my expectations were not met, and I would like to bring some specific concerns to your attention.

The first two classes with the instructor named Mylene were conducted solely in the neighborhood, which was surprising to me. When I had my lessons with Solomon, he took me to various locations such as Deerfoot, Glenmore, and Barlow right from the first day.

I found those experiences invaluable for building confidence and developing a comprehensive understanding of different driving situations.

However, with Mylene, the lessons were primarily around the neighborhood area. When I raised my concerns about this discrepancy to Mylene, she appeared to hold a grudge against my son and began questioning about Solomon from my son. This unprofessional behavior on her part created an uncomfortable and hostile learning environment for my son.

To my dismay, Mylene failed my son on his driving test, citing reasons such as driving in the middle of the road, being aggressive with the gas and brake pedals, parallel parking, and speed control. I find these assessments puzzling because my son had been driving flawlessly for over 2 week, demonstrating competency and adherence to the rules of the road.

Furthermore, Mylene insisted that my son book additional lessons with her, claiming that she would pass him if he did so. This approach felt like a form of blackmail, which is unacceptable. I had not anticipated encountering such unprofessional behavior from an organization like AMA.

Moreover, I must mention that Mylene's command of English was inadequate. She often struggled to differentiate between the phrases "pull over" and "pull into the parking lot, " leading to confusion during lessons. Additionally, her habit of raising her voice and yelling at my son was counterproductive and failed to create a conducive learning environment.

I am deeply disappointed by the lack of professionalism, the questionable assessment practices, and the overall quality of service provided by Mylene as an instructor. I believe it is important for AMA to address these issues promptly to ensure that other students do not have similar experiences.

I kindly request that this matter be thoroughly investigated, and appropriate measures be taken to rectify the situation. It is my hope that AMA will uphold its reputation as a trusted provider of driving instruction and ensure that its instructors adhere to the highest standards of professionalism and teaching excellence.

Terri-Lynn is one of the most kindhearted and effective employees at this AMA location. Her assistance saved my family and I so much money and time that could have been easily wasted. The compassion she showed us was truly unforgettable, and we can only wish the absolute best for such a valuable employee:)

Two hours to get a temporary license! It is insane at this location. Worst experience compared to any AMA branch. The person at the desk was inexperienced, but it's not her fault. It's that person's fault who decided to keep her there by herself to waste everyone's time. I spent one hour in the queue and another hour dealing with her.

To the staff and management: For God's sake, use some common sense and stop following your checklist like the word of God; a government issued letter should be an acceptable proof of address. It is certainly more credible than a Freedom mobile bill. At least update your checklist.

Respect people's time, please.

Leaving a 1 star review, not directed at this location itself but at AMA in general. We had locked ourselves out of our vehicle and called AMA at 10: 20pm, we were given as estimated time of 12: 32am for roadside assistance to come and help unlock the car. At 12: 32am no one came, no update was made on the app or through text or anyone to call and notify.
I called to follow up at 1am, and they advised they were very busy. It’s summer, I can’t imagine what it’s like in the winter.

I ended up going to bed but not message saying that someone is on the way to help.
I’m only giving 1 star, because the gentleman that came to help was very kind and helpful. Otherwise I would have given 0 stars for the amount of time we had to wait with no updates.
When they showed up, the gentleman advised that they can’t open this type of car (Tesla) and that’s probably why no one came all night. If this is the case, why didn’t anyone call me to tell me so I can figure something else out in a timely manner.
I am completely dissatisfied with the service from dispatch and can’t believe it took over 8 hours to get someone to simply tell me that AMA is unable to unlock a Tesla (or apparently and Audi TT as well.)

They were pretty scumy. This was around 10 years ago, once My dad already paid for my license plate renewal then a couple days later I went for renewal not knowing my dad already did it. They took my money and didnt say anything. Another time, my mom paid them and the girl at the front didnt give my mom change. "thats it"she said. My mom didnt speak much english, she didnt know what to do so she asked a receipt. The girl acted like the machine is broken, had to get the manager to get her change.

1 Star is very generous, in my opinion. Unsatisfied customer here, we were given different numbers on the day we went there (we brought home the paperworks that they gave us) but the quote changed on the day we signed the contract even if everything is the same. They will not honor the price they gave us.

Normally quick service but I was wary walking in to do my registration today and seeing a line with only 1 person at the desk. Then multiple staff appeared and I was seated almost immediately. Terri-Lynn was super helpful informing me of my other vehicles registration while also processing my GDL. She was friendly despite it being Monday morning and had me out of there in only like 15 minutes.

The road tester my son had was absolutely amazing - I’d give 10 stars if I could! Dawn was friendly and pleasant and totally put him at ease during his test. I also very much appreciate her giving us the opportunity to get our brake lights replaced instead of cancelling our appointment. She was very fair and thoroughly explained the errors my son made during his test.

Bonnie was exceptional! My 94 year old dad and 83 year old mom needed to get/apply for Alberta Identification cards. Both my parents have mobility challenges, she was so accommodating, patient and so respectful to my parents. Nowadays, people are so in a hurry, we really appreciated Bonnie's kindness and efficiency.
