I have used a couple of different moving companies when I moved from the uk to Canada and then back again.
Here's a few things you should know!
The shipping company will give you a quote, and even if your weight and size ends up being under that figure that they originally gave you, they will not tell you they will just say you "met the right amount" that they quoted you for, obviously, if you are over, they will let you know and charge you more. Both myself, and my parents moved from Canada to the UK, and they gave us both a quote, and even though we both got rid of a substantial amount of stuff, after we were quoted, which would've mounted in a lot more weight and space, they still said that the quote that they gave us was the right amount, even though one of the things we got rid of off our container was 2000 lbs workout equipment.
They will try and encourage you to buy the insurance. The insurance is a con. If you purchase the insurance, and your stuff gets damaged, no one will actually pay out, for example for me, when my stuff got broken and I had insurance moving from the uk to Canada, the uk blamed the Canadian company for damaging the stuff and vice versa so I never actually got paid out.
Second, if you get the insurance and on the rare occasion you can prove who's to blame, (which really you can't) you are only insured for approximately $40 per box or if not boxed, per item that gets damaged. You could have a box of stuff worth $5,000 and you will only get $40 maximum for anything broken in the whole box. Apart from sentimental stuff, who's gonna bother paying expensive shipping to ship stuff that's not worth anything, and sentimental stuff you can't replace anyway.
This company in particular, gave us a quote, then they held our stuff to ransom asking for yet more money as our stuff was held in storage before shipping longer than they originally anticipated. So we had to pay that extra $2,000 on top of the $16,000 we already paid so they would not withhold our stuff. I know (because they told me) that other people were charged over double what we had to pay, apparently it is in the small print, but that's all down to interpretation as well.
This company actually broke our stuff taking it apart, before it was even boxed. I have pictures as I was opening the boxes and stuff was broken, for example, my daughters Barbie house was snapped apart not unclipped, so the clips would not piece back together as they had been snapped off. Another example was my daughter mountain bike, they had dismantled in to pieces. I had to take it to a bike shops to get put back together professionally.
I had put in a complaint to the moving company after the packers came and left. They underestimated how long it would take to pack out stuff, so they left early the first day and said they would be able to get it all packed in one day. The next day they showed up late, they didn't get finished till 9.30pm and forgot to pack a bunch of stuff. They also ran out of bubble wrap and paper so just decided to throw out stuff in boxes which we didn't find out till after out stuff arrived 8 months later. As a mother of 2 very young children and trying to get them to bed, I didn't realize how much stuff got left behind till after they had gone. I didn't get any reimbursement.
The packers themselves told me to write a good review which they pressured me for and told me what to write. I was worried if I didn't that they wouldn't take care of my stuff when moving it out of the truck in to a container.

Showed up on time and prepared. They worked quickly and asked questions when needed. Everything was packed and I have full confidence nothing will get damaged on the trip.

1st off wanted to say thank you to everyone involved with my big move across the province. From the ladies who helped pack the house up you all were very friendly and easy to work worth and very professional! Thank you Terri-lynn Colbourne, Mel Walker, Chantelle Chambers for the hard work you all did and coming from lloydminster!
Can't forget about the movers as they were the grunt of the work for sure as I have no idea how I would have done some of the strenuous lifting and twisting myself especially that sectional! You guys were amazing and made my life so easy and everyone made me included and part of the team! Thank you Cam Mcdonald and his crew from Calgary: Cyron Tim Laine and Andy! I know who to call when I need to move again! You guys were awesome friendly easy to work with and did an amazing job with everything!

AMJ jumped in to help when previous mover ghosted us after taking deposit.
They stepped in and were helpful, responsive, and very professional!
They kept in communication throughout the whole move, including the pickup and delivery.and they delivered exactly to the schedule they set for us.
Great experience all the way through especially given our panic when we lost so much time on the other mover's excuses and delays!
Shout out to the local team in Edmonton Michael who handled and responded to us so quickly and Romain and Lance who really took the time to pack and prep everything for a successful cross country move!

Our move from Ontario was completed on Aug 24. Although the move in was delayed due to the timing of our goods arriving in Edmonton, the quality of the personnel assigned to move us made up for it. Romain, Lance and Harold were very personable, professional and accommodating. They worked efficiently and made sure that we were pleased with the result. We would be happy to have them back any time and will continue to use AMJ.

The crew at AMJ Campbell were absolutely amazing specially Romain the master minder behind this whole operation. He was-extremely professional and directed his crew whit the furniture. He was very responsible to make sure his guys were organized and prepared to move in extremely heavy furniture. They worked very hard and it was pouring rain outside. The house stayed clean and zero damage was done. Romain is the guy you want for your next move. We moved 7 times and have yet to meet such nice and professional crew. Thank you Romain!

Karan and Ian were at our home for 3 days for our move. They were very friendly and efficient. They took care of our items and were very respectful.

Romain and Lance completed an internal move for us between condos. They worked with some awkward pieces of furniture and some tight spaces through which they had to move items. Both were friendly, professional and focused on doing quality work. We’d be happy to have them back.

Karan and his team moved us out of our home. They did a fantastic job for us. They thought of everything down to offering to pick us up some coffee or breakfast upon their arrival. Happy with the moving experience.
The team, with Karan and Steve driving, did a great job. Everything was packed carefully, with paper packing for things like dishes. We had lots of opportunity to make sure everything we wanted to move was packed, and anything that was staying did stay. Boxes were labeled, and unloaded into the rooms we wanted at destination.
No walls or doors hit at either end, and we had a lot of shelves as well a bunch of home gym equipment.
