The place is small. The food is mediocre. But most of all, we were rushed out because they had dining shifts - which we were not told about at the time of the booking. $50 per person and you get 2 hours to eat your dinner. Totally unacceptable!
If I could give this restaurant ZERO stars I would. After making reservations on a TUESDAY, my friend and I waited for 1 hour for 2 entres. When the entres finally came, the pasta was raw. They gave us a courtesy dessert that was inedible and proceeded to make us wait over 35 minutes for the bill. This kind of service is unacceptable specially for the price which was about ~$45/person. Would not recommend this to anyone. What a shame.
This is my first time coming here after reading the stellar reviews and was super excited.we came here on a tuesday at 6: 45 with a reservation.it took over an hour to get our entrees, and one was pasta.the pasta was undercooked and we had to send it back to the kitchen and didn’t ask for a replacement.we ended up sharing an entree that was placed at the same because we did not want to wait any longer for a replacement.mind you this was a party of only 2.we were offered a complimentary dessert that we couldn’t even finish because it was way too liquor heavy.knowing we were already upset with the service, we waited 30 minutes for our bill.i absolutely would not come back here again or refer any of my friends.
Second visit here since moving to Garrison and have to acknowledge Charlie our server. Amazing service! Very attentive and knowledgeable. We will continue to come back as the staff have been amazing. Thank you to the entire staff! Gnocchi is incredible and please bring back the squash bruschetta! See you soon.
It was my first time coming to Annabelle’s. The restaurant is cosy, hip, and busy. It’s a good thing we made dinner reservations. Although by 9pm most diners had left. Everything we tried was good! From the awesome mushroom arancini and Nona’s meatballs to the thin-crust pizzas and squid ink linguini. For dessert we had the homemade tiramisu, which was oh, so good! Bring your appetite, as the portions are generous. Definitely coming back.
Disappointed. Menu limited. Food bland and poorly prepared. Chicken Parmesan - the chef needs to go to Australia to see how to properly prepare this. Pasta was gooey. Sauce uninspiring. The Panzanella salad was just thrown together. Nonna would turn over in her grave if that was how her meatballs tasted! Would not recommend.
Ate here with the family oct 2022 at the marda loop location. Top notch service and excellent food. Had the fake empire pizza and a pasta. Honestly one of the top tasting restaurants i have had in calgary. Will definitely come back
Food, service and company was top notch. The window dressings could use improvement as at certain times of day there is limited seating available without direct sun shining into your eyes. Would return and sit at a different table for sure!
Food was mediocre. Way overpriced for what you get. Went there twice now and was disappointed both times. Service is good and the atmosphere is nice but the food ruins it all. Too bad.
If this type of cuisine is to your liking I'm sure it's pretty good. Unfortunately it quite simply is not what I prefer. I'm much more a steak and potatoes type of person.
Beyond expectations in all aspects. It felt like we were eating in a place twice the price for how great the service and quality was. We had a perfect spot on the patio and our server guided us through the menu and provided good recommendations. The Italian-styled food was fantastic and well portioned, too! We will 100% be back and look forward to our next expericne. Thank you very much for a wonderful night out.
Our dinner we had Sunday night with our 3 year old daughter was just perfect. Pizza pasta and a delicious appetizer. Karla our server treated us so well and was so kind to our daughter.
For $30 (25 for the meal plus tip) definitely not worth it. The taste was medicore and the portion size was tiny! I should have ordered from yyc pasta for half the price and double the portion. I am disappointed and will not order from here again, but I may try dine in to see if it is different considering the great reviews. The pasta tasted over cooked, the flavor was off for me and I really feel like I just wasted $30 on something I could have cooked in 10 minutes. I will give it one more try but dine in only. For delivery, it did not meet my expectations at all.
Such a unique place to enjoy a romantic chitchat in the afternoon or enjoy a night out in the evening. The pizza is great especially paired with their in house chilly oil
Visited Annabelle’s Marda Loop tonight and had a lovely dinner. Leslie was our server and she was wonderful. She walked us through the menu and drink. She was always checking in every few minutes to make sure we where satisfied. Great service. Now the food…Delicious! We had 3 antipasti dishes to start (meatballs, whipped ricotta, and Italian chopped instalata). We finished with a pizza to share. Extremely happy with the overall dinner experience. Can’t wait to visit again! 5 stars for sure. Thanks Annabelle’a:)
Fantastic spot! We went to the location in Marda Loop. Well made food and a great variety. Very home like feeling when you're there and great service. Can't wait to try the Steven Ave.
Lunch on a Friday off! Good food in a quaint atmosphere. My husband had the Rigatoni w/ mushrooms, white wine, shallots, sage. I had the Eggplant Parmesan w/ tomato sauce, parmesan, basil. House garlic bread & Saskatoon Lemonade to drink. Another good meal, deliciously prepared. Definitely a go to place.
Annabelle's has pretty good food, however, for the price I feel like there could be more. I had the ravioli, and the flavours weren't quite there. The drinks were very good, and the tiramasu was also very good. The tiramasu definitely needs more of a coffee flavour with more cake.
The chairs were so small and uncomfortable, my butt could barely fit in the chair, and I've never had that issue before. I kept slipping while sitting on them? The tables were tiny, could barely put anything on them.
Service was great, the waitress was very nice and gave us time to decide what we wanted.
Overall, pretty good, but sadly didn't manage to reach my expectations.
I have such high hopes for Annabelle's Kitchen in Marda Loop because the food and drink are truly incredible and the ambience is amazing. Every time I've been there, the service has been lacking (rushed, not very friendly or enthusiastic, talking amongst themselves about customers). I think that this establishment has the potential to be a 10/10 restaurant but I think the service needs to be tightened up for that to be the case. I will continue to frequent this restaurant and hope to see changes to come!
Went for a Covid Patio Dinner at Annabelles Kitchen last night in Marda Loop and really enjoyed it. The service was excellent, the food was good, although the menu could have had a little bit more to offer. We had the whipped Ricotta to start (a must have) and a pizza with Chili oil and gnocchi. Portions to me were great in my opinion, I am not one to over indulge, and I didn’t walk out feeling heavy and extra full, which was perfect.
Patio is excellent with plenty of sun and great vibes. Appreciated the opportunity to book through Resy to see which times were available.
Unfortunately, there are not that many restaurants in Marda Loop, so my girlfriends and I were excited to try Annabelle's for our annual Christmas dinner. Naturally, we wanted to enjoy each other's company, delicious food and drinks. We ordered a few things to share and settled nicely with our cocktails. I don't think we even had two sips of our first drink when the food started to arrive. Our reservation was for 7: 30pm, we were done by 8pm. Our bill came right away as well, while we were still thinking whether we should get anything else. I have never been to a restaurant that is as fast as takeout. Our server was visibly unhappy being there, which trickled down to how she approached her job. I would have given this place no stars, but the food wasn't bad. Most of it was way too salty, and I do not recommend getting the clam pasta (overcooked, too salty and lacks flavour), but we did enjoy pizza, arancini and arugula salad. Our drinks were delicious. It is too bad that our dinner was so short and forced us to go to a local pub instead where we had a lot of fun and enjoyed the night as long as we wanted to. Not a welcoming atmosphere, mediocre service and unprofessional staff. We won't be back.
Great! The food was delicious and presented nicely. Service was friendly, fun, and excellent. The decor and music was also very nice. I will be going back for sure.
We had high hopes for this place so we took our children during their happy hour to try it out. Unfortunately as soon as we came in the gentleman working at the front created an incredibly unwelcoming ambience. He glared at us and said "how long are you going to be here? " He obviously had an issue with us bringing our children. We noticed a similar tone throughout our meal.
Note that our children were incredibly behaved and the restaurant was dead quiet. There was no reason for this animosity. While the food was great, it wasn't worth such a rude welcome from a new restaurant in a competitive neighborhood. We won't be bothering them again.
We had dinner here last night, and it was fantastic. We felt like we were dining in an authentic Italian cafe. The food was delicious, the service was fantastic, and the cocktail list was on point. Will be returning, this is just what the Marda Loop neighborhood needed.
Love the food and atmosphere in this casual Italian place.the restaurant has lots of sunlight. Absolutely love the Cesar’s salad with the fried artichokes. The bean soup was deliciously served with toasted bread and olive spread.yum. Meatballs were tender and an explosion of flavor. Love the thin crust pizza.so good.
Beautiful atmosphere and tasty menu. The service was lovely and very helpful when trying something new. I would have taken photos of my food but I was too busy eating. The cocktails are fabulous, must try any of the Spritz's!
My ravioli was average at best. It basically had half a jar or pesto dumped on 6 noodles. I didn't make it through half of them. My sister had the carbonara and it was too salty to eat.
My vote for the best pizza in Calgary. We also had the arancini and rigatoni and both were excellent. The notes in the attached commented on service but we had excellent service tonight, including recommendations on menu combinations.
A recent and much needed adition to the neighborhood we had a meal before leaving for Italy and I can say with complete confidence the clam dish we had there blew away the vongole we had first night in Polermo.
A wonderful addition to Garrison Woods. Great foods, interesting wines, and all at a fair price. Service staff, especially Montana, really made the dinner.
As locals we loved having a new restaurant in our area and went 4 times already to support it and enjoy it.
Food is quite good but we found the service consistently poor and Managment non - existent. There is no manager walking around or checking in with clients etc.
We won’t return as we are tired of the rude and peculiar service. Unfortunate.
Food is 4.5, service is 4 and ambience is 4. The food is very good and reasonably priced. The service is friendly but a little lax (I shouldn't have to pour my own wine, and why oh why don't they train wait staff to leave all plates on the table until everyone is finished!?). The room is nice but way too loud.music volume could go down a notch or two and they need a some sound baffling. Yes, it's good, and yes I will go back, but they are so close to being excellent.
