These people are con artists.

CONTEXT:

My wife and I used to live in Calgary and go to this anytime fitness.

We moved out of province and forgot to cancel our gym memberships with Anytime Fitness.

Because we moved to a different location in Calgary, my gym membership got transferred to a different Anytime Fitness Location in Okotoks while hers remained at the original location.

I called to cancel the Okotoks Anytime Fitness, no problems.

Easy cancellation, done.

The same day, we call this gym where my wife's membership is still hosted and tell them we've left the province and to cancel the membership.

They tell us that that we have to bring a form and keycard to cancel.

We tell them we have left the province and they say the owner will follow back up with us.

The owner never responds.

We then proceed to mail the form and the keycard.

Meanwhile, 3 weeks later, my wife is still getting charged for her gym membership and so we pause the membership.

They then send my wife to collections for this outstanding payment.

We've now tried over 3 dozen times over the past year to contact the owner once we realized that they sent this bill to collections.

Everytime we call and talk to someone it's "call me back in 10 minutes"

"The owner will call you back"

Not a single call ever returned from the owner of the gym.

Absolutely infuriating service and because of this, my wife's credit score has been wrongly impacted.

Whenever we call now it's clear they are simply blocking our number.

Nobody picks up the phone anymore leaving us out to dry.

Just know that they are absolute sticklers for memberships.

Compared to the Okotoks location is a night and day difference in staff and respect for customers.

Absolutely outrageous, would definitely think twice coming here if you ever need to cancel or get in touch with the owner about your membership.

Clean gym, good management easy to reach, and they go above and beyond to meet your expectations. Much appreciated to ANY TIME FITNESS. I will continue to go there.

Sadly a terrible experience. They refused to close my account because I moved to Portugal. Later I noticed that not only did they not close it they took it to collections. Beware of the scam. Tried to call to talk to the owner and he never answers and he is never available. He is a thief.

Best little gym. Awesome crowd been going for over 2 yrs now to this gym.like that it's not as busy most days.

This is the best anytime fitness I have ever been to, the owner Hanif is very kind and helpful and the friendly environment cant be beat. I think Calgary is very lucky to have such a 5 star gym like this.

Please avoid. Hanif the owner charges you even after cancellation. Absolutely disgusting business practice.

The owner is beyond kind, staff is super helpful and Friendly. Hanif has really created community at this gym. I don’t feel insecure here. I feel like I have a team that supports me and has my back.

Needs a more uplifting vibe/music? I have two gym memberships and frequent the other more because of the atmosphere.

Staff always says hi when I come in. The place feels welcoming and clean. They give out pre-workout sometimes if you ask lol

This is the best Anytime Fitness location in Calgary! If you go at the right time it doesn’t get to busy! The owner is super nice and friendly! Greets you every time you come in!

Doesn't honour the 7 day voucher, what a waste of a trip to evanston. Just fix the website so it says 7 day voucher not valid at this location. Also why schedule me for an appointment if you wont honour the voucher? How am i suppose to commit to a 2 year contract blindly. Im convinced to go to the goodlife in beacon now.

I have been a member at this location since 2016 I probably know everyone that walks through that door. Staff are so friendly and willing to listen to feedback. I went to other gyms over the years just try different equipment I just couldn't fit in! There is room for improvement I love this place.

I am not one to normally leave reviews, however I have never dealt with such poor customer service and absolute zero respect from the employees and owner of this gym. I came in almost 5 months ago and cancelled my membership, and I am still getting charged. The employee failed to inform me of any issues that were on my account and sent me on my way after returning my fob and signing the paperwork. I find out months later they never even processed the cancelation when I came in and failed to contact me to tell me that they couldn’t process it at the time even if they did. The owner has hung up on me and twice now when he said he is calling me back he never does and is completely ignoring me. Absolutely ridiculous if this is how you treat your clients. I will never recommend anyone ever come to this gym; I should have listened to others when they told me to never come here. The owner is unprofessional, rude, and based on other reviews scams you out of your money. At least now with the proof of other reviews having similar issues, I am happily able to come back at them legally to get my money back.

I have joined this Gym since August and my experience is Amazing, I have hired a trainer Daniel and started my weight loss journey with him and we are killing it together with each training session, he is a guy with a lot of experience and knowledge and makes my work very easy, 5+ Stars.

I started in Feb 2022 and relocated to SE in April. Just been for 2 months but it was nice, quite clean and ambience was great. Usually a night visitor:)

Every clean gym. Has all the equipment I require. The owner of the gym is friendly. The service is very satisfying.

Definitely glad this isn’t my usual gym…
Staff doesn’t even say hi when you come through the door (guess I’m used to it at my normal Anytime). Baffles me how they’re one of the “top rated” gyms…
To top it off, literally no members wipe down their equipment after using it… disgusting!
(Let alone the fact we’re in a pandemic…)
This gym is so small that machines are literally inches from each other.
Does anyone ever clean the machines here?
I’ll add a picture of the toilets as well. Maybe buy a seat that actually fits? Practically fell into the toilet.

I have been going to this gym for the last two years. The best thing about this gym is that it's open 24/7 & very close to my house. —very professional and friendly staff. Last but not least, the gym has all the latest equipment & the treadmill is my favourite. For your excellent service. Thank you, Hanif, for your superb service.

Great facility, spotless, it has a variety of machines, owner and staff are very attentive and caring with their customers.

The people at Anytime Fitness Creekside are great guys! They are very accommodating and maintain their equipment extensively. Also it is one of the cleanest gyms I have seen. If you want to go to a gym in this area, this is your best choice, something you won't regret!

Tried canceling my membership after being a member for years. Wrote multiple emails and left voicemails, when finally they were returned generally a week or two later, said I had to go into the building to cancel but that they were closed due to covid. Finally I was able to get in there and they canceled it, but not before telling me they still need a month's notice and charged me for the next month, along with a gym enhancement fee. When I asked what the fee was for, they said it was an annual gym fee charged once a year, yet they had already charged me for one of those in April too. I'm pretty sure they have thrown that fee in multiple times throughout the year hoping people will not notice it. Would never go back to this location

Didnt seem that bad but it's very small and they charge 23$ if you don't own a membership. That's a lot of money for what it's worth

I had an excellent experience in this gym. The gym is very organized and quite a bit of machines to use from. The people working there understand the customer needs and will accommodate you well.

Great location to work out at. Amazing evening environment and quality equipment for getting work done. The owner, Hanif is always kind and considerate. Staff are very professional and the quality of the gym overall is very nice.

My cousin and I recently signed up for the gym, myself renewing and my cousin starting his for the first time. Gym is very nice, clean, and well taken care of. The owner Hanif is very involved in the gym and makes sure everyone gets the best experience, as well as is very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend.

Good location with quiet times and a good selection of equipment. Excellent personal trainers, and good parking on site.

The owner of this location Hanif is very unprofessional! He would not let me cancel my membership and used the COVID shutdown to attempt to extend my membership by more than 4 months. This was NOT in my contract but he told me to take him to court which displayed his lack of customer services skills.

Due to the corporate structure, a member solutions contact was difficult to reach. After explaining the situation to them, they agreed that Hanif was not upholding corporate values and directed him to cancel my membership immediately. My faith in the Anytime Fitness brand was restored by corporate, but the owner of this location is not consistent with the rest of the company. Avoid this location if possible due to the shady owner!

Equipment and machines (except for the Seated Press machine where the seat needs attention) everything else is well maintained. Clean and Covid safe.

Good place to go, small gym with all required sanitary measures. Equipment is of good quality and allow all sorts of work out. Place to go as you don't feel like being a number but part of a group

First joined in 2016 and loved it ever since! Great atmosphere and awesome staff! Hanif (owner) has really improved the quality of the gym! I couldn’t have been more impressed with how well the staff managed the gym while a pandemic! Highly recommended place!

Great gym, was always very clean and good atmosphere. I’ve moved from the area and eventually stopped going as it is to far. Had a few issues with cancelling but once I called, the owner Hanif was extremely polite and worked with me to get it resolved.

Been a member at many commercial gyms but anytime creekside is literally the best. I’m not entirely sure if all of them are this amazing but hands down the management here is way better than any other gym. Hanif is always looking to accommodate his members the best he can and truly has made such a great experience for me. The only downside is their lack of equipment but equipment will always come later because what matters most is the management and how genuine everyone is and the love and passion they put into their work. Out of the 5 different commercial gyms, anytime fitness creekside is definitely my favourite.

This is one of the best Anytime Fitness facilities you can visit. The staff are very friendly and the equipment is great whether you are a beginner or an advanced lifted.

I have to give a shootout to Alex, one of the personal trainers who I had the privilege to do a few training sessions with. Being a seasoned lifter I was skeptical to how much value I would get out of the sessions but was I surprised. Alex showed me small adjustments to all my major lifts which have improved my mobility and stability. As a result I have gotten stronger in all lifts and I feel confident I can continue to add weight without risk of injury. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a quality personal trainer.

Tried out the gym last winter for the trial period. Was busy at times, but good variety of equipment, always got my full workout in. I decided to go to another gym, but this was convenient location and the hours are obviously good. I got my deposit back without any problems, it was great dealing with the manager.

I went to this gym a few days ago because I was in the area, and the staff is very friendly. Vrund was at the front and he was very friendly and joyful.he also cleaned a lot

I have been to many gyms in my time, this gym definitely delivers on best use of space and quality of experience!

The new bathrooms are amazing, all the equipment is well maintained, and the community is fantastic.

I have been a part of the Anytime Fitness Creek Side family for over a year now. I walked into the gym just a little over a year ago, weighing 330 pounds. There was no judgment, only encouragement. With their help and member’s encouragement, I lost
over a hundred pounds. I trained 2 1/2 to 3 hours a day, six days a week. They have helped gain a new lease on life. I have met some great people here and have made some great friendships. I tend to think of the gym as more of a community. This is my second home. This is a fantastic gym. The owner (Hanif) is a class act. He is very engaged with gym, and it’s members. Since the reopening, after the pandemic, Hanif and his staff have taken unprecedented steps to ensure the cleanest, most sanitized environment to train in. - well beyond what the by-laws ask. If you are searching for a great place to train, you will not have to any further than this gym. I am beyond grateful for Hanif and this gym.

I am really enjoying my time at this location. Staff are friendly and doing an excellent job ensuring the facility is clean and sanitary. They have all the equipment I need.

I have tried out many gyms over the past 10 years, and I can truly say that this is the best customer service I have experienced in any gym.
They are very accommodating, helpful, cheerful, and most importantly, HONEST. You are made aware of everything up front and there are no surprises.
VERY meticulous with cleanliness and sanitation. Staff is constantly cleaning the facility. You get your OWN spray bottle and wipes.
Also, it is never too busy. I am able to do supersets with no problem. Never had to wait for equipment.
Hanif is fantastic. Vibe is motivating and cheerful. Highly recommended.

Hanif is a model owner and employee for this franchise. Took over this location 3 years ago and has completely revolutionized the concept of comfort fitness.

Multiple amenities offered ranging from towel service, tanning, fresh fruit, coaching and development, etc. Consistently upgrading the equipment to industry standards and providing a wide range of variety.

10/10 would recommend!

Very small, super busy during peak times. When are the new treadmills arriving? Also, can you give an update on when the 2nd bathroom reno will be completed. Also, one of the 3 TV's should have the news on not sports. Thanks

Staff, very friendly, nice and accommodating. Equipments are pretty good but it looks like it will be too tight if a lot of people are using the facility.

Recently visited this location. Bathrooms are under renovation. The glass door in the new shower is really hard to open/close. Remember to bring your own towel during non staffed hours. Also note there is no tanning access during non staffed hours.
The treadmills at this location are atrocious, two are currently broke. There is a sign saying that new treadmills have been ordered, not sure if all of them are being replaced (hopefully).
The clientele were friendly enough, no rude meat head types. But I did see many people use 5 machines in a row and not clean even one after use. Clean people, clean!
Overall this location is just ok, quite small, but compact, has everything you need for a quick workout. Overall cleanliness needs to improve. A deep cleaning.
The radio station playing was awesome, but it was not loud enough, crank it up 10+ more db.

Good gym. Getting quite busy however and more difficult to get a squat rack or barbell at prime times. Would love to see an extra squat rack or at the least a couple extra barbells

Amazing facility, clean, welcoming, such a nice owner. Cares about the people that come to the gym. Great equipment, if something is missing ask and it gets ordered! Love this place!

I signed up a couple years ago when Hanif took over. I had to quit a few months later due to financial reasons.

I signed up again a couple months ago and I was very impressed how Hanif remembered my name and asked about the family.

He and the staff are very friendly, professional, the members are good too and they have every eqjipment you need at the gym.

Well done Hanif and the staff! I am glad to ne back as a member there!

Update:
The gym owners got back to me and told me they contacted ABC Financials and got it straightened out. I haven’t received mails or phone calls from them since so I will assume that the matter is resolved.

I’ve paid for the year upfront but ABC financials, the company that handles their billing, keeps calling and sending me mail to pay. Called and left a voice mail describing the problem and no one has bothered to call me back.

I’ve been a member for 5 years and have always paid in advance so I can expense it and have never had a problem except this year. It seems the new owners don’t care much about my issue to even be bothered to call back. I won’t be renewing after my membership expires next year.

Good weight room. Equipment is well maintained. Clean too. Would be better if they had more space for a gym for fitness classes and stuff.
