I have been to the store several times and they always have what I need and my experience has been super good until today. I was just in the store with my husband, we were buying tacos and the person who served us was super attentive until a guy with glasses appeared and told him that he was going to heat up something, immediately he stopped the microwave that was heating up our order to put it in.that he wanted to warm up. The other boy very kindly told him to please wait for it to finish because otherwise it won't heat up properly (this is true because it takes longer to heat up two plates instead of one). Without caring about the boy with glasses, he didn't take out what he put in and put the two of them together to warm up. The other boy stopped the microwave and said, I'm telling you, it doesn't heat well and took out the taper. The boy with glasses, upon seeing this, began to fight with rude words no matter which customers were looking at him, he went in search of someone and continued fighting, the other boy with admirable patience kept explaining to him that it takes longer and he had to finish our order and of other people, the boy with glasses continued with his rudeness and told him what happens if I put it in and if it heats up? And he literally told him to go outside and fight. When this happens, the boy with the tacos calls a Mr. Arturo to fix the situation, no one came and the boy with glasses continued insulting him, there being customers there. After that, the boy with glasses goes to the cash register to talk to someone and the other boy continued serving the others. If it were up to that guy and his patience and education to handle such a stressful situation this place would really have 10 stars! I hope they can take action on the matter, because this situation was so uncomfortable for us that it leaves a lot to be desired, I hope this boy has some sanction, it is not right that he is threatening someone and in front of clients, making them go through an uncomfortable experience.
My favorite Latin store in Edmonton! Great selection of food, spices and drinks from all over South and Central America. The friendly staff always makes me smile, I love the hot sauce selection and I heard they make great tacos during lunch on weekdays
This is an amazing place for mexican products. I only go to find specific ingridients for mexican food so that is my reference. The tamales are amazing so try them!
What a fantastic little place! I had some very particular ingredients I needed for a dish I was making, and had no idea what they were. EVERYONE was very friendly and very helpful, giving me suggestions and happily letting me browse. The variety of different foods and spices and ingredients is amazing. I plan on coming again!
This place truly is the best Latin food store in the city. They have a huge variety of everything from dried peppers, to stacks of Tortillas, to all sorts of hot sauces.
I love this market and all the treats. Dive deep. Buy everything and enjoy your new life. Pick up these wheat chips that can be fried or air popped. You’re welcome.
If you're looking for ingredients like dried chilis this place has an impressive selection. Grab a little bag of 'mango con chile' while you're there, what a treat. Also, don't sleep on the tacos in the back, they are legit.
It wasn't the best experience with this store as the manager tried to kick us out of the store because he believed that we weren't going to buy anything. This is unacceptable from management.
They have a great selection of snacks/ingredients. We also ordered 2 pastor and birria tacos and they were amazing. The green sauce was made by the chef and it was awesome. Definitely recommend this spot.
Good service, the prices are better than in other Latin stores. It is stocked with a wide variety of products. Here you can find great fresh cheese and good tortillas.
Needed some things for a Mexican dish I was making. This store has just about anything that you would need for Mexican recipes. Staff is very helpful and knowable. .
First time here, but it certainly won't be the last. Great selection of spices and chilies, and all the snacks and hot sauces from Mexico you could imagine!
I've been coming here for several years now. Honestly some of the best selection of hot sauces, latin foods, and drinks in all of Edmonton. The staff are always amazing and kind. Heck it is even worth coming in for just the spices alone.
The products available are excellent and have long shopped at the store. There are some people that spend time with staff at the store that could make customers uncomfortable unfortunately I found today. I accidentally backed into a vehicle in the parking lot today without realizing and left the parking lot. An individual, whom was previously in the store socializing with the cashier I noticed was behind my vehicle and taking a picture of my license plate which I found odd so I rolled my window down and he yelled at me that I was going to be charged with hit and run. I apologized and wasn’t sure what the issue was so I returned to see what occurred? I did notice a some dirt missing on the back corner of my vehicle and the vehicle in question certainly had a crack on the bottom of his which lined up with where my vehicle would have impacted it as my back up alarm was going off. I was giving the cashier my information and his friend became aggressive with me accusing me of taking off and him having a problem with yelling and posturing up a bit but after some words he eventually went to his vehicle and I continued to apologize to the cashier for my error because I know how much it sucks dealing with the auto body quotes etc. I wasn’t overly concerned because I can generally handle myself but needless to say this wasn’t an ideal experience from a customer standpoint being placed in a situation where I would have to physically defend myself with an employees friend.
Overall I would say the place is great for finding authentic Mexican foods and overall until today I really enjoyed going there and plan on still doing so it’s just some of the people that frequent the business can be aggressive unfortunately I found out today. Take care.
The last time I went to this store was the very last time I will ever stop in here. First of all, nobody bothers to say hi or even smile, I wondered if all those young ladies working there were okay. After collecting a few items I went to pay so, I tapped the debit machine. It looks like one that you can tap but THEN and only then the young, quiet and shy cashier with the braided hair says to me “You can’t tap” well, she should’ve told me before I tapped. Apparently they don’t do tap which seemed to be a big deal. The owner comes and then asks the girl if she let me know not to tap, and to my surprise she says “Yes” she lied right in front of me! I told the guy right away “No, she didn’t” and his reply was “Yes she told you” Seriously? ! My son was right there and witnessed it all. I couldn’t believe it, how disrespectful! Then my son payed with the cash I gave him and the man short changed him $2, I wasn’t with him when he paid, I’d gone to the vehicle otherwise I would’ve said something but I probably would’ve been called a liar and it just wasn’t worth my time, it was already unpleasant as it was. So yeah, check your change. They had some rotten plantains sitting on a shelf which doesn’t look good and quite a bit of expired items. Check the best before date. Luckily I can get some of these items at the Superstore and even other Latin stores in town. The Mexican spicy pork tamales were not good either, they were very fatty, it felt like eating bacon fat which would then linger on your lips and on the inside of your mouth, not that I’ve done that but that’s the only way I can explain it. They had a small chunk of meat and what seemed like a tablespoon of spicy sauce in them. That’s it!
