Half of this gallery is screens. Don’t we have enough screens in our day to day, I don’t understand who allowed so much space in an art museum to be taken up by large screens and so much wasted space! Where is the art from Alberta artists or Native American artists with their beautiful statues or sculptures? Where is the art representing Edmonton artists, or architects, etc? Was very disappointed.
Nice facility but lacking in terms of volume, it's rather small and modest.
Depends on the exhibits they have on display when you go and if your interest in them. It is currently Pop Art like Andy Warhol and Banksy and such. This was great and the galleries are clean and very cleanly laid out. It isn't huge in terms of volume as it seems most of it is on loan from a single private collector. The other galleries, especially the third floor video galleries are VERY avant garde and takes a particular mindset to interpret, which I do not possess, humbly speaking. The bottom floor exhibition was closed when I went so there wasn't too much to see.
Beautiful pieces of work to be seen, and the music gallery was interesting. 3 floors of beautiful art work. They were hosting the indigenous artists market, at the same time as my visit which in itself was interesting to see, all the traditional art and items they make.
Definitely would go back, especially if the market is there again.
The experience was different.contemporary art is beautiful here.gallery is not as big as the art gallery of Ontario and has less of the traditional oil paintings etc.but is definitely a breath of fresh air with more current work on display.building architecture is intriguing
