Aspen Crossing

In regards to aspen crossing polar express! Unfortunate I have to pay for a seat even though I’m not using it…. I have a family of three but they are charging me for four seats…. Sad how around Christmas and the time of giving all these companies want to do is drain your bank accounts unfairly and charge for a seat you’re not using?

I did the train of terror a couple weeks ago and man what an experience! They had us jumping and screaming the whole time. Can't wait to go back for a summer train ride again

Had a great brunch. Eating in a railcar was Interesting. Service was excellent. The gift shop had many beautiful items.

Our experience for thanksgiving weekend was very disappointing when staff member did not forward our dinner reservation to dining car for thanksgiving dinner. Will not recommend Aspen Crossing to anyone I know.

Had an amazing time on the Train of Terror! Highly recommend making the trip out. The actors, staff, facilities were first class. Very well organized, reasonable drink prices, just really a great event! Our group is still talking about it and making plans to return next year!

We came with a group of 4 for the train of terror. Had a great themed drink at the start. Went through the ground maze and had a great time. After getting to the train we had to wait over an hour to go through the train maze. It was super squishy and people were clearly getting upset. Many left and didn’t bother with the train experience. The conductor made everyone go with strangers. I wish we had gotten to go with our friends to see their reactions. While in the maze an actor shoved slimy noodles into my mouth. I almost threw up. I understand being touched but I did not expect them to put things in my mouth.

It's a nice campground. 2 different sides, both are really well done and maintained. Not all sites have sewer in the old section, but they have a dumping station on site. We come back ever year in the fall. So beautiful when the leaves turn colors

Great RV camp spot. Clean, lots of room and spots are relatively private. Awesome place for young kids, so much to do and see! This might become an annual vacation spot for our family.

Very under developed campground. The campsites were extremely unlevel and 50 amp service were not available. Located off the beaten path in an area with little to do.

To say we were very disappointed with our 1st Polar Express experience at Aspen Crossing would be an understatement. Our group of 14 spent many hours at the crossing awaiting a 6pm departure. We never did board a train, instead we sat in the building for hours with multiple small children.
While delays and cancelations can be expected with inclement weather, we were not expecting a complete lack of communication and empathy. Our group asked at the one hour delay mark if we were able to leave and get a refund, we were barked at and reminded that our ticked said NO REFUNDS. Regular updates (on an appropriate PA system), and an ounce of empathy and understanding would have gone a long way in our group considering returning in the future.we won't consider returning at this point.

Travelled all the way to aspen for polar express and the train got seized and they loved our ticket two hours away. Have to come back without riding the train. They promised that some one will contact for refund but so far no one did. Fingers crossed.

December 20th, 2022. My grandson came down sick the day of our booking and we called asking for a rain check to go when he got better. We spent $300 on the Polar Express tickets and we were told no and that basically is too bad but that is the rules. No exceptions no rain check and the person we spoke to was not very pleasant. So we are out $300 and feeling awful especially at Christmas, obviously no Christmas spirit and these people do not care. On another note we will never camp at their campground going forward as Aspen Crossing management does not deserve the business!

I went to visit for a day trip. It is gorgeous. The shop is so cute and the food is incredible.

It was amazing. The experience they set up is 100/10 and they go well above and beyond. The gift shop has lots in it too

It was our second visit to this site, we camped in the summer and now we have returned for the polar express love this place and recommend it to anyone.

Really fun experience renting the caboose. The kids loved it. The polar express was also fun but, it was usually frigid this year! The caboose was still cozy and warm in -36 degrees Celsius.

Heartless company. Do not support them. My Dad was admitted to the ICU on life support the day we were supposed to attend the Polar Express with our kids. We were unable to attend ofcourse to be at the hospital to support him. They refused to give us any refund or credit to return to the next year. I understand refund policies, but there’s a point where being a human-being kicks in and showing some compassion. Unfortunately, this will be the last year we attend. Do not support a company that has no heart and would put their greed before helping a family crisis during the holidays.

Went for the Polar Express and it was a truly magical experience, mainly for my 7 year old daughter but to see it though her eyes was incredible.

Great location and operations very early in the year makes this one of the best first locations for the camping season. This year there will be expanded availability, too.

The Polar Express has long been a beloved family tradition in our family, but not anymore. We were so disappointed by our experience tonight. It seems to have gone down hill and the cut backs on staffing really detracted from the experience. The train was an hour late, which is a big deal when you have little kids. They tell you to come 45 minutes early in the confirmation email so many families were stuck waiting for nearly two hours. The waiters used to put on a fun show when they served the hot chocolate but not tonight; we had 2 waiters frantically trying to pour hot chocolate for the entire train car. They play the story over the speaker but it was so quiet, no one realized it was even playing and despite trying to listen, couldn’t. I asked if the volume could be turned up so the guests could hear, this did not happen. The windows were completely frozen over so you couldn’t see out the car. Not Aspen Crossing’s fault, however, they came and handed out window scrapers AFTER the train left the North Pole and we were on our return home. Would have been nice if they had the foresight to do this at the start of the ride so the kids could have seen the scenes along the way and Santa and the elves at the North Pole. My kids walked out tonight not wanting to go back next year. I’m so disappointed writing this review because I have always loved and recommended the Polar Express experience, but I won’t be doing that anymore. I feel like it is now completely over priced for what they are providing.

We went on the polar express with our 3 young boys. It was a fantastic experience and better than I expected.
Our trip started with some train problems but the staff was great and made us feel well taken care of.
I highly recommend it and will be going there again!

Went on the train of terror and my very first wver train ride laat night, so many good people and memories i wont forget we will be back, thanks Aspen Crossings Workers for the great work you do We all had alot of fun!

Excellent campground
Well maintained. Music fest was great. The pizza at the tavern is excellent.

I have camped here before and always had good sites in the oldest area of the park. They couldn't fit me in there for a pull thru site so put us in the second oldest part of the park the site was uphill and uot level, I used all the wood I had to level it and make the back entrance steps accessible to my other half as she is disabled. On top of that the gravel was so big she couldn't use her power scooter to get around. They offered to move me but I had spent so much time setting up in 30 degree sunny temperature I refused as we were only there for 3 days.

What an amazing experience.the train ride was an absolute blast and I will be going again! Fun for everyone!

Horrible. First time we went to the train of terror. May as we’ll be rip off terror. $80 to hang around in the cold for an hour until it’s finally our turn to go through for a whole 15 mins of entertainment, if that.
Second, we booked camping and yes it’s under 7 days in advance that we want/need to cancel, and they say no refund. They should be more flexible with their cancellation policy! Or at least, give us a credit or partial refund, maybe let us move the dates to a different weekend.
We’ll never attend any events here ever again, and we’ll never book camping here.
I hope you’re happy with all our money in your pocket.

My boyfriend surprised me with a stay in the CP caboose cabin for my birthday. Everything we needed was supplied: there was hot chocolate, coffee, a bundle of firewood, fire starter, kitchen wares, axe, shower essentials, etc. The theming was great, even the cabinet knobs are rail spikes! There were supplied DVDs to watch on the Blu-ray player. There is a gas heater and an AC/fan unit in the cupola. We stayed in the middle of February and we were quite comfortable.
We had a fantastic time and will definitely be coming back!

Honestly the best place ever to camp! I don't know if I can put it into words.we came last year and we were on the new side which is absolutely beautiful! And super close to the swimming area and massive store. Those alone blew my mind. Came camping tonight with an incredible spot on the original side and the trees and spacing is so nice! Also the bathrooms are the nicest bathrooms I have ever seen at a campground.you could basically eat off the floor. This campground is a true gem. I want to keep it all to myself but I know other campers will appreciate this amazing set up. There's something for everyone to do and it's so well kept. I'd give it 100 stars if I could.

We are having a amazing time. The caboose rentals are perfect for February. Big fire and just relax

They do such a fantastic job with the Polar Express ride. A fun tradition for the kids. Worth every penny.

Over priced in my opinion. They were running 45 minutes late for the polar express train. Encouraged people to get there a 45-60 minutes early. Ended up just waiting an hour and a half for the train. The only reason they want you to go early is so you buy stuff at the gift shop. All and all, very expensive for what it is.

Went to the polar express for the first time this year. We had such a great time that we are considering making it a new winter tradition in our household.

What a wonderful experience. Our whole train car was so into the Christmas spirit. The crew was amazing with all of us. Our kids absolutely loved it. Thank you to all of you. Great memories made tonight to last a lifetime.

It’s one of the rare activities in this empty city to do and when we checked the website the tickets are sold out.they leave hundred of kids with broken hearts because of this ridiculous excuse to not have enough seats.
They are not collaborative to adjust their schedule the accommodate as many kids as possible.
We need more days to experience this ride not just a few days before Christmas.
My daughter is disappointed because she was waiting for it and the tickets are sold out.

Whats not to like about this place? They are changing the attraction as fast as the seasons change! Went to check out the Christmas market it was pretty cool with lots of vendors. Polar express is starting soon and although not for me it sounded like great family fun especially if you have little ones!

****SEE UPDATE AT BOTTOM*** After an excellent camping trip this summer we were so excited to return for the Speakeasy dinner train last weekend! We were all dressed up and excited to be there but left very disappointed. Before I wrote this I left 2 messages for a manager to call me back to see if they would resolve this issue, but 4 days later and no returned call. Firstly the advertising for this event said it includes 3 course dinner, live music and a train robbery. Also 18+ event so the tickets are $120 pp.we paid $80 for babysitting and another $100 in costumes. So needless to say an expensive evening. There was no robbery or mention of why there wouldn’t be a robbery and not just no LIVE music… absolutely NO music at all, we even asked the bar car for music and they still did put any on! For a themed event this was a huge mistake as it adds to the whole ambiance and costs No money at all! Our drinks took 1.5 hours to get. Our food was definitely not worth the price in fact 2 of the ladies in our group barely touched the main course it was so bland and dry. The bathroom car had no lights or power so I had to use my flashlight to go to the bathroom. We had called ahead of time to ask if there could be something special done for our friends 10th anniversary we were celebrating but we arrived to find only a “Happy 20th anniversary” table card on the table. We went in with very high expectations and left completely underwhelmed, disappointed and downright frustrated over the false advertising of this event. We had plans to bring back all of our extended family next year for camping, caboose rental and train excursions for a 45th anniversary but if I can’t even get a callback from a manager this is not the place I will spend my money! My advice…. Get dressed up and go elsewhere for a decent meal and good time with your friends! Really disappointing as we enjoyed our camping trip out here in the summer so much and would have returned every year! Update **** Since I wrote this review I have called yet again and left another message last week for the owner to call me back, and still NO RESPONSE, Even though it was mentioned in the response that they would be in contact with me! What an absolute joke and terrible, terrible customer service. I intend on telling everyone I know not to go to Aspen crossing after this! **** Such an easy thing to call back and yet they don’t even care to make it right.

An absolute treat. Every excursion is incredible but the Halloween and Christmas trips are our favorites. Love love love this place

The Polar Express was well worth it. The kids had an amazing time and all of the actors were committed and attentive to everyone. Great experience.

The camping here was awesome The newer side doesn't have the trees grown big yet, but it is still quite private with the set up. Very well done. The washrooms were immaculate and even though it was muddy, the floors were always clean as was everything else! The staff are super friendly and helpful with any questions and the camp store has some fun items! Hope you can enjoy it as much as we did! We'll definitely be back to camp! Oh and the Ales on Rails dinner was also amazing

Wish I could’ve seen everything.

I bought my father and I tickets for the Aspen Crossing Speakeasy train ride and dinner. We weren't sure what to expect but we couldn't have asked for a better experience! The dinner was amazing, the actors and staff and wonderful, the train ride was relaxing and fun. Alot of people dressed up and it really added to the experience. The staff worked their butts off and the service was amazing. There were few jokes I found a bit out of taste but overall the experience was amazing. Be sure to bring some cash for the robbery as the money goes to charity if you choose to take part!

My husband and I love this place, 45 mins from Calgary, can't go wrong! We have Camped there 6 times and planning our 7th visit. The food from the tavern is amazing and still hot when you get it delivered to your site!

There are 2 places to dine; one is in the rail car N 2 @ the Bervquist House.both are reasonably priced & the staff is exceptionally friendly, clean place as expected.check it out

So we didn’t realize that the new part of the campground is still under heavy construction with many of the amenities not in place. There was loaded gravel trucks cruising through out the day spreading gravel then graders flattening it we did get charged the full high season rates for a less than appealing campsite. We frequented this campground over the years but think it’s time to cross Aspen crossing off our list

Was a great time. Food was really yummie. Aspen crossing special drink is delicious. Family did the twilight hour train ride. The robbers did a really good show during the whole ride. Forsure going to try the other ones. Also they have a great greenhouse. There is other things on the site that was missed this round. Worth every penny. Thank you for keeping the past alive.

Love everything about Aspen Crossings. Loved sitting out at the Tavern picnic tables, enjoyed a delicious lunch.

We had dinner last night (July 8,2021) at The Bergquist House Tavern & experienced top notch service and delicious food by Sandy and her amazing staff! Sandy also made me a couple killer Cesar’s! Highly recommend this restaurant if you’re in the area!

The campground is great, nice little swimming pond for young kids. Well kept grounds and the self check in is a nice touch. Stopped into the tavern, it's a old house converted to a restaurant. Took forever to get a bottle of beer and longer to get an order of cold wings, another fifteen minutes and didn't even get the beef dip we ordered. I would recommend driving a kilometre down the road to the bar in Moseley.

It's well kept all-services campsite. It's nice to seeing the owners spending money to make improvements. And when the new sites mature a little and the lagoon is finished it'll be one of the best campgrounds in southern Alberta.

Planning on camping there next week, will update after the experience.

We really enjoyed our stay back in March (first time visiting). We had a nice selection of sites to choose from, online booking was super easy and the staff were awesome. The sites were large and level (huge plus). Loved the gift shop and the pizza & beer delivery. Cannot wait to return for some winter camping!

We rented the Union Pacific Caboose May 17-18 and was very enjoyable. The caboose is quite small but well equipped with just about everything you would need for a short stay. We will definitely go back but next time will book the bigger caboose with full bathroom and a full size bed.
The employees at Aspen Crossing could not be any more helpful if they tried, a great bunch of people with a special shout out to Yvonne! We found out that our caboose was missing a little gift that was to be supplied for renting the caboose so Yvonne made sure she personally brought it to us along with more coffee and filters!
Thank you to all the staff at the campground and the gift store for making our first stay there enjoyable! We look forward to staying with you again!

Aspen Crossing refused to give me a refund for the tickets that I bought ($500 worth). They canceled and will only offer a voucher for their gift shop. I am very disappointed with their lack of appreciation for their customers and poor communication. I will never spend another penny there after losing so much money and I do not recommend them to anyone.

They cancelled our pre paid ride but refuse to refund our money. They say it's in their terms to issue a gift card except that when the tickets were purchased the terms said full refund. Changing the terms a month after purchase does not mean it applies. We agreed to a refund policy when purchased. REFUND THE MONEY NOW!

We stayed in the caboose cabins. It was really cool (very much tiny house vibes). Definitely a fun, no too touristy, good for all types of groups kind of place.

Shame on you! I cannot believe how you have treated hundreds of your customers. This has been a horrible year for most people, and instead of refunding the money that people paid for a service you can no longer provide, you change your own rules. I understand that covid restrictions have put a damper on your business, but think of all the people who gave that experience as a gift, that you have stolen from them.

What a shame you won't refund people's money for the Polar Express being "delayed" due to Covid until 2021! And then you change your posted refund policy after deciding to "postpone" and will instead issue gift cards for 2021. Very unethical business practices. Do the right thing and give customers who paid for 2020 their money back. Disgraceful. I can't understand how so many costs were incurred prior to the delivery of service that you won't give these people full refunds.

Unique place to go for a meal and eat in a train car or on the deck outside. Good tasting simple meals.

I love it there a new train is there its a steem angine 5080 100 yrs old has not bean running 4 60 yrs u should cheak it out.

One of the greatest things you can do with your children at Christmas time is take them to Aspen crossing. The train ride was phenomenal.

The Polar Express experience was so much fun! Very interactive live performance on-board. My son loved the hot cocoa and cookies. Very friendly staff too. Only downside was we had to purchase 4 tickets instead of only 3. Their seating does not allow odd number ticket purchase which I think is unfair. But all is good. Won’t be coming back though because of the ticketing.

Went for the polar express event. It was an amazing experience and so good for kids. Definitely a great experience.

Took our toddler to the polar express - he absolutely loved it. The staff on the train were amazing, and the experience was fantastic. Rated 4 stars because it would have been slightly better if there had been more lights outside the windows along the way but overall fantastic!

Just came home from the Polar Express Train and it was fantastic! We got tickets for the dome car so we could see the stars but unfortunately it was overcast-would have been amazing otherwise! We did get a great view of the fireworks when we reached the North Pole however! We enjoyed everything, the singing, hot chocolate and cookies, Santa, the silver bells, the punching of your golden ticket and the hobo was certainly a favourite! We will certainly be making this a family Christmas tradition! I highly recommend getting in the spirit and wearing matching pajamas!

Absolutely lovely experience doing the Polar Express train ride. I wouldn't recommend the upgrade to the "dome" seating for the Polar Express ride, as it is actually a fairly cramped space, and the lights inside the train make seeing out the windows at night very difficult. It also got quite chilly up there! I look forward to future rides, as they do have a whole list of other trips they do regularly!

We took in the 2018 Polar Express, and really enjoyed it. The event seemed well organized, and the kids had a magical time. It was fun for the whole family. Based on our experience, we will probably take in more Aspen Crossing events in the future.

We went for the Polar Express this year and it was a fantastic experience! The kids loved the entire event and the staff at Aspen Crossing did a fabulous job in creating a memorable experience for everyone aboard the train. The characters were excellent and the entire show was a perfect complement to the Polar Express book and movie.

First time doing the Polar Express and it was the most amazing experience. Amazing staff and beautiful facility.

Went on the Polar express with 2 kids. Very poorly done, not much excitement on the ride, over priced for the content provided. I wouldn't recommend, not worth the drive.
