This unassuming little place made our day! The dedicated gluten free kitchen is full of delicious options. Toppings go from edge to edge and the salad we had was full of the freshest vegetables. There were just a couple guys running the whole show while we were there but they were so friendly and it's clear the whole point of the place is the quality food. Would recommend for anyone celiac or gluten intolerant visiting Calgary; worth it!

An entirely gluten-free restaurant! The pizza and chicken fingers are excellent. They even have made-to-order lemonade with fresh mint.

I’ve recently been diagnosed with a gluten intolerance and was having a hard time find a good gluten free pizza, this place definitely delivered. Very impressed with the quality and the taste!

I’m not even gluten free but I love the pizza here. The food is delicious and the employees are kind and helpful.

I think this place is like cilantro. Some people love it, some people do not at all. I am of the later. I’ve tried this place twice now and it is just not good pizza. No one liked it the first time, but that was a couple of f years ago so I thought I’d give it another go. I really wanted to like it, but I couldn’t even finish it, it tasted off to me. The only reason I’m giving two stars is because the cheesecake was quite nice. I won’t be eating here again though. I expected way better for the price I paid.

Best dedicated GLUTEN FREE place! I have gluten sensitivity, and they have deep knowledge about gluten free and celiac. All menus are gluten-free, so there is no risk of cross contamination. The owner ishan was super friendly and helpful, he recommended us Crusty Cowboy pizza and Mac&Cheese, it was awesome. We are going to try every menu they have for sure. Thank you ishan! We'll see you soon again:)

My husband has really sensitive gluten allergy, but he hasn't had any symptoms after visiting this place. The owner said all the menus are 100% gluten free. My husband and I really enjoyed foods and we will definitely visit this place again. And also I love the vibe of this place as well. Highly recommended, especially people who is looking for dedicated gluten free restaurant.

I'd give zero stars if I could. The pizza crust tastes so bad, we threw out 2 whole pizzas. Do not waste your money here.

The best Gluten Free Pizza I've had! The bread is awesome, and they have all kinds of combinations on the menu, good prices for the quality that they offer!

Hands down the best pizza I've ever had! You won't be disappointed. I got talking with the owner - well atleast i think he was the owner. The guy spent two years perfecting his crust. Talk about dedication. Thanks Shawn! We will come back when we are in town next!

Pizza was delicious! Did not taste like a gluten-free crust - it was light and crispy. House-made pizza sauce was great!
Service was prompt, attentive, and friendly- but not too friendly, ya know?
Minus one star for very limited choice of wines by the glass - one white, one red.

We had mixed thoughts. The two of us who ordered the T-Rex pizza didn’t enjoy it at all. Had no flavour, dry, and was salty. Could have used more tomato sauce. The two that ordered the taco fiesta really enjoyed it. They said it was flavourful and had a good amount of spice, and a good crust.

Price is fairly high comparing to other places that offer gluten free pizzas. The pizza shop we normally go to offers two 10in gluten free for ~$30 (Foothills Pizza).

Update: The GM called me to discuss this issue. He left a really great message and took accountability for his employee's mistake. He said he went over safety protocol with him and stressed the importance of using different cutters. I appreciate that he took this issue seriously, and therefore I have adjusted my rating accordingly.

My star rating is based on how this restaurant is not careful with cross contamination. I ordered 2 half vegetarian pizzas and one full pizza with meat. When I got home, I saw my vegetarian pizza had a couple pieces of pepperoni on mine. I called the restaurant and he denied that it happened. It clearly looked accidental but now I can't eat that pizza since I am vegetarian. I offered to send in pics but the person there became defensive and didn't want to listen to me. He did agree to refund the amount on the half pizza that had meat but his attitude toward me was unacceptable. My husband said it looked like he cut the meat pizza first and then used the same cutter on mine. This is worrisome for any person that is vegetarian or has a nut allergy. BE CAREFUL.

I attached a pic, you can see there are sundried tomatoes but also pepperoni.

Gluten Free Pizza! Plus vegan options makes me so happy! I am now a regular here and gave up my other pizza places. It's that good! I love pizza and finding a crust that tastes and bites like regular dough is unfounded in Calgary but Avatara made it happen and it doesn't get tough and chewy as it cools down or after reheating which says a lot!

Has reserved signs on all tables and would not allow dine it. Food was not good. Had the vegan Mac and cheese and lasagna. Not tasty. Also had the Hawaiian Pizza, regular cheese, also not good!

AMAZINGGGGGG STAFF! Loved eating here during stampede! Had a lovely experience and the staff was so friendly and amazing to our requests! Wow amazing!

Great food and amazing service! Employees were very welcoming and friendly. The food was great and was so nice to eat somewhere that I wasn't scared of having my meal cross contaminated with gluten. I 100% recommend this place! Can't say enough good things!

Such amazing food! My girlfriend is a celiac and it’s too expensive to order separate meals all the time so we often share gluten free food. This was the first place I didn’t feel like I was compromising at all. We tried the lasagna and the garlic cheese bread on the first day, and then came back today and had a half margarita pizza and the Mac and cheese.

Generous portions, reasonable prices, and local enough that the owner was in here chatting to us with his beautiful young family.

Check it out even if you do not have dietary restrictions.

The plan was to have icecream but we changed our minds & decided to have drinks and snacks at Avatara Pizza. Super glad we did! The strawberry-champagne cheesecake and tiramisu were delicious. The nacho chips with organic squash hummus were fresh and delicious. Great service and prices reasonable. Wish we had taken photos. Before leaving, we decided to take home a Picasso pizza - Wow! You can tell food was made with passion. You gotta eat here!

This is the first (not frozen) pizza I’ve had since I was diagnosed with celiac and it was ah-may-zing. The service was fast and friendly and the pizza was delicious. I had the “Picasso” and tiramisu for dessert and both were so tasty. Everything on the menu is gluten free which gives so many options and com please peace of mind in ordering. Love this place!

The food at Avataras is like temptation to me. So good! Wish we could afford to eat out more often. As a Celiac, this place is a top choice.

I am so thankful for this place! As a newly diagnosed celiac, I am so happy I can order in from here when I don't feel like cooking (which has been lots lately!) I've tried the Mac and cheese, butter chicken pizza, Maui, New Yorker and Crusty Cowboy. All have been so flavourful! Love the fact you can order 1/2 pizzas to try more than one at a time. Presentation has been 10/10. This is certainly my go-to place for takeout!

Im not a pizza fan but Avatara Pizza every bite was like food for the soul. There was no guilt feeling after I ate this Pizza.quality taste and healthy ingredients is what will make me go back again. Nice friendly attendant.

Absolutely amazing gluten free pizza! Highly recommend. You wouldn’t even know it’s gluten free. It was my first stop after the airport and will always be going there when I land in Calgary.

Excellent gluten free pizza. Very similar tasting to Bow Tie pizza but without any risk of cross contamination.

Ordered pizza through Skip the Dishes at 5: 30pm and after numerous calls from Skip the Dishes it arrived at 7: 40pm, cold. Even after warming it, was the worst pizza we've ever had.
Never again.

Been here more than a dozen times. Best gluten free pizza place in the city. Lots of dairy free options and you don’t have to worry about cross contamination.
They have more than just pizza too and loads of desserts.
I left the Calgary Flames game late the other night, I called in and Dee answered. He stayed open late for me to make some pizza and chicken fingers.
Great service, great food, good prices and awesome environment.
Not to mention they are at the stampede! 10/10 recommend this joint.

BEST pizza, and utterly incredible customer service! So, I am a celiac from Vancouver, and it's so hard to get delicious pizza from a fully gluten free facility. In September I had a layover at the Calgary airport. I was craving this pizza SO much, I tried ordering one from an online app. However, it's a distance to the airport for delivery - so the owner himself called me to figure out a solution. I said it would mean the world if he could get it to me, so we agreed on a slightly higher delivery fee. But he couldn't find a driver willing to go all that way - so he delivered it HIMSELF. It seriously made my whole month, and the pizza was THE BEST. A million thanks. Please always get your pizza from here!

As a person with celiac this place is honestly amazing! Its great to have a pieve of mind when eating out. The food here is just delicious. We came to calgary for our honeymoon and found this spot as soon as we landed. We came back again before we left because the food is that good! Even if you dont have a gluten allery I would try them out!

I'm so happy that I found this place! We are vegan, gluten free, and we eat organic whenever possible. This restaurants meets all those restrictions (with several options), and the pizzas are great! My partner had the Beyond Meat pizza and I had the Aristotle. The crust was thin and crispy, just the way I like it. They used tons of toppings, which I love (and justifies the price). It was delicious. We will definitely order from here again (and again, and again).

Amazing gf pizza! Ordering tip: the 6" is actually a 12" cut in half, it looks like a half moon instead of a circle. DELICIOUS! Will buy again!

Best gluten free pizza I have tried and it's not even close. The crust actually tasted like 'regular' pizza crust, they're very generous with the cheese and toppings.

Pizzas are traditionally cooked in a fireplace where you get that smoky essence! The availibility of vegan cheese, a lot of plant based toppings and a vegan dessert is my favourite.
Loved being here. Also a diff variety of soft drinks if you are fed up with coke n pepsi!

Best pizza ever! Completely Celiac friendly. 100% dedicated gluten free. We were driving through Calgary and it was such a fantastic place to stop. I’ll be making the trip back again soon. You wouldn’t know it’s gluten free unless someone told you! 10/10!

We wanted to love this pizza, but just couldn’t. Rather than go into too much detail on the pizza front, I wanted to make a suggestion to let people know the cheesecake you’re selling is daiya cheezecake. Probably important to include if people are trying to avoid overly processed things since daiya isn’t the healthiest or tastiest.

Tonight we had such a pleasant experience with Avatara Pizza that we wanted to share. We had an order accidentally delivered to our door, once we received it I called the restaurant to let them know an error had been made, due to covid he informed us that we could keep the order and enjoy it ourselves. Although we offered to pay they said it was on them (which was very kind). It was our first time trying the food and it was very delicious. We had the pizza and some salads and it was super tasty and well prepared. We will certainly be ordering again soon.

Chicken fingers were amazing! Friendly staff and the pizzas are delicious too and they get ready quickly which is great for a pizza place. I would definitely order there again.

Was a 5 star place with a 5 star review from me for a long time BUT.

Tonight we got served with attitude a pizza that was raw on the inside and somehow burnt on the outside. The cheese wasn't even melted. Usually this is my favourite place. I know they are expanding and the owners attentions are elsewhere but the staff here tonight were very irritable and unfriendly. We were starving so we ate it because we felt we had no choice. Also when we went in to order we were treated so poorly I was afraid to go in and ask to have our pizza remade. It tasted worse than any frozen pizza I have eaten at home.

I am heartbroken. I hope this is a one off and not a regular thing for this location.

Pizza is fantastic! The worst part of being celiac is finding good pizza, Avatara hits it out of the park everytime. Top notch food and service - its obvious they care about their customers and community.

Favorite gluten free pizza in the city. Chicken nuggets are very crunchy. It's celiac friendly since none of their food items have gluten. Also recommend the kiju apple juice it is so fresh:)

This pizza is the best gluten-free pizza I've ever had! And I've searched it out in New York, Toronto, etc. The service is also great and I've tried some of the other food and it was great too—this is gluten-free comfort food. Thank you, Avatara!

Such an incredible little spot, can't wait to go back next time I'm in town! It's like mom and pop pizza shop meets modern day diet requirements! Had one of the best vegan pizzas ever here, it was delightful!

First of all, friendly, warm and welcoming.
Second, but not least, AMAZING FOOD. I don't remember the last time I ate such flavorful and tasty gluten free meal (from appetizer to desert). The pizza crust is unique and worth any detour you might have to make to come and eat a bite.

I am vegan, and the vegan pizza was very mediocre. Too much going on made it ironically bland and the mountains of greens (spinach or arugula) cooked onto it made it wet and overpowering with that awful cooked greens taste. The other toppings just felt like they werent even on the pizza. The beyond meat was tasteless, it needs to be fried and seasoned beforehand.

Aside from this the worst part was the service, the person was having trouble understanding what I wanted and kept getting irritated when I would try to start again because he was convinced he had it right, when I kept trying to correct him (he kept saying pineapple on both, olives on one. I wanted olives on both, pineapple on one) he said "yes that's what I said". He also had the cheese wrong despite me initially saying vegan pizza, no feta, add vegan cheese but luckily he came back to ask if we "wanted regular cheese" I guess.

The pizzas come out 20 mins later with pineapple on both, olives on one. -_- At this point I was too tired to correct him because it just seemed too arduous. The lemonades were great though. I hope they can make the vegan beyond meat pizza more basic but more tasty in the future. I recommend getting rid of all the toppings sans the meat/cheese/sauce, frying the meat beforehand with seasonings, and just topping with fresh basil.

I've eaten here twice already in the past week, and I can easily say that this is the BEST gluten free pizza that I've ever had. Everything in the restaurant is GF, there's no need to specify, it just is! From the pizzas and appetizers, to the drinks and desserts. I highly recommend Avatara Pizza!

Vegan pizza left much to be desired (flavour wise). Order was wrong, as well. Would come back if these things were improved.

I would rate the pizzas here somewhere between 3 and 4 out of 5. The flavour was spot on but we weren’t aware all their pizzas are gluten-free.

I think if we had a gluten sensitivity, we would consider the pizzas excellent. But since we don’t, we prefer regular ol’ gluten-filled pizza crust lol.

So we won’t be ordering from here again based on that. BUT we’ll be sure to tell anyone we know who doesn’t do Gluten to do Avatara.

I was struggling to find a keto pizza place when i came across this place, the chef is nice, the food is well done he also offer cauliflower crust options for the pizza (drinks included) so the price is at-least fair, 10/10 would come again

Was enjoying the scenery around the river and decided to stop in for some pizza. I could smell it in the air and I thought the staff was SO friendly and welcoming. I really enjoyed the food and cozy atmosphere! Will be back for sure! It was just a bonus they had Nova Scotia beer!

I have ordered pizza here over the years and unfortunately the quality has been very uneven. I love the concept, the people are great, the location is great but often the pizza is not good. Last night we ordered 2 large for pick up and threw most of it out. Tasteless, and so bad it wasn’t worth trying to add something to it to make it more palatable. Maybe it was a bad night for them.

Look for a place online that serve vegan pizza. We had the spinach salad to share me and my wife. I had the T-Rex meat pizza, my wife had a vegan Picasso pizza. Vegetables or incredibly fresh in the salad. My wife said she loved her vegan pizza absolutely excellent. My pizza was delicious. Light crispy dough. Plus it always get to have a license place. Well definitely come back

We have been wanting to try this restaurant for a while as my daughter is celiac and it was worth the drive! Our T-Rex pizza was fabulous and the desserts were great and best of all, it's gluten free and we weren't charged extra! We will be back!
