Baladi Shawarma

I've been coming here since it first opened and the food is always consistent and the wraps are the best in the city! Depending on the time of day, it can get busy but that just means the food is good! I don't mind waiting a few extra minutes for good, quality food! The staff is great and Omar always looks after you! I would definitely recommend this place!

The lady who was making our shawrma was so beautiful and so sweet and kind. Very cheerful and smiling. Shawrma is amazing. Place is clean. You may stay inside or the it out. They have not only shawrma but other options as well.

This is the best shawarma place in Calgary, and that is saying a lot as there are great ones out there, but this is the best.

If you try it you will know while.

Food tastes good. Ingredients are fresh and well seasoned. Food portion was large. Definitely can fill the hungry man.
Service was slow. We ordered a platter, a wrap, took over 20 minutes.
Atmosphere is nothing special, store is clean.
I might return, but will order takeout or Uber eat to enjoy at home next time.

We tried their chicken, beef and Shish Tawk Shawarma plates. The food is great and the quantity is just perfect. The staff was very approachable and very friendly. I would highly recommend it.

I don’t normally eat middle eastern food due to its intense spice, but Baladi is absolutely delish! The shawarma plates are generous and the wraps are tasty! Order ahead on their website for pickup because they can get super busy during dinner rush. Kudos to the owners for providing great food!

We got the shawarma wrap and plate along with a side of falafel, as well as hummus. The staff were very kind when picking up our order and the order was ready on time.
This was one of the best shawarmas I’ve had, the meat was fresh and seasoned well, and there was a lot of it in the large shawarma. The hummus and falafel were also to die for. The rice in the shawarma plate was fantastic as well!
I cannot recommend going here enough! I’m sad I was only in town for one night and cannot get more.

Food is amazing and very tasty. I love their customer service especially their employee Iman she is always greeting me sweetly and serves me very well. Their food is well made and good for their price!

We loved eating here. Their meat is tender and moist. I especially recommend the beef and shish touk platter (they always make it fresh, but ask for 15 mins) and their chicken/beef shwarma wrap. I love how they add garlic sauce and Tahina sauce on their platter which compliments really well with the meats. I have two kids (6 and 2) and they are both able to enjoy these meals as well.

Gluten friendly options and can be made dairy free as well if you ask for their beef (chicken has yogurt) and avoid the sweet sauce.

Best donair in Calgary hands down. I’m from the east coast so I know a good donair. The owner is an awesome guy as well as I chatted with him afterwards. I don’t live in Calgary but I can see myself driving to this spot once a week for a wrap.

The food was great but the main thing is that the customer service is a bit meh. This lady who was preparing our food seems to be in a rush and it wasn't even busy that day. She also seems to be in a bad mood for some reason. She also keeps on asking me about what to put on my friends food and my friends are just right behind me and again it's not even busy that day. I totally get it that she's preparing 3 orders in 1 interaction but I honestly couldn't even hear or understand her and I was confused about who she was talking too while preparing our food.

Ordered a standard Canadian donair (tomato, onion, sweet sauce), couldn't even taste the sweet sauce on it. I know it's more of a traditional shawarma place than a Halifax-style donair shop but still disappointing

I had my son graduation party last night and 15 guests were invited the food I ordered was amazing it was ready on time I thank thank all the staff for their hard work and the beautiful presentation of the food how was made and everyone in the party finished the whole tasty food and special thanks to Fadi the owner and his wife and Omar too all of you guys made my day and my son too, may god bless u all … thank you

Turned me down for service. Apparently had too many customers to handle. Last time i came i waited 30 mins to get fries. I understand a longer wait when the place is full but there was nobody in there when i ordered the fries.

Pretty cheap with the portions as well if i may add.

This was the last chance. I’m done with this place.

I also noticed in this reviews section that the owners only reply to the good reviews. Thats very interesting.

Online ordering doesn't ask about any "side" vegetables, and you won't get 'em unless you ask (they say you can specify in the comments).
All the food was delicious. The meat felt nicely grilled and in generous portion.
Would be nice to have a third salad option, maybe slaw-style.

For the longest time, Jerusalem Shawarma was the only game in town. Then along came Baladi with a flavour, taste, quality and quantity that was better than Jerusalem. So we all lined up at Baladi. Waiting 30 mins for a Shawarma was worth it. That was then.

Of late, I have noticed that Baladi Shawarma plates now come with reduced quantity, they are definitely cutting back on the meat, rice and the salads. It is understandable that prices of everything has gone up so they need to cut somewhere. The new employees at the counter basically COUNT every chip that goes into your plate. And if one extra chip or a sliced cucumber goes into your plate, it is picked and returned to the trough.

Baladi's fall from grace was quick. They came, they conquered and fell back once the clientele started lining up. Now they will survive the next many years just on their past reputation.

For flavour, taste and quantity, I say they are the same as Jerusalem now.

Baladi is my favorite shawarma place in the City. The bread is the perfect combo of crispy and soft, the portions are huge, and the meat is spiced to perfection. Mixed shawarma is my go-to. When ordering takeout, get less salad in the wrap if you are far away, so the food stays nice and hot.

I've eaten my share of Shawarma.but these guys are tops! After 1 visit, I was recognized walking in. Service is always exemplary and the food is out of this world! The meats are tender and juicy, as opposed to many that dry out. Everything tastes fesh. I have nothing bad to say about Baladi, and try to make it a regular stop everytime I visit Calgary! Love this place!

Hands down one of the best Middle Eastern restaurants in town! The most tasteful donair and chicken shish tawouk I've had. They are very professional and food portions are very generous. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a taste of home ;)

Their portions are small. For a platter I feel that they could give more rice. I think the chicken is a bit too greasy as well I could see oil drip from the wrap and from the platter. The salad was barely anything. For potatoes they only have about 3. Overall, I thought it was decent taste but too greasy. I would give them another chance in the future

I went there to get dinner for my family, I was met with a rude guy who asked me to raise my voice and kept arguing with me to raise my voice because he could not hear me. I mean really! I've never seen such bad manners nor experienced a terrible customer service in any place. Took my order and pointed with his hand to the machine to pay and kept staring at me all the time I was there. If it wasn't for my family I would have left. I felt disrespected. Is that how you treat your customers? I came to visit you but you were rude. Very disappointing! I was handed over my order and no thank you or whatsoever. I will never go back to this place or recommend it to anyone else.

My donair was ok, would have been better if I had gotten what I ordered.
To me would appear that if are not there in person and have skip the dishes or whom ever they seem to mess up the order.cause really whose going to send it back.

I agree not a lot of pleasantries from the staff but they’re extremely busy. We had to wait a bit for food and there was a constant flow of people and Skip orders coming through. Understandably so, the food was amazing! My new go-to shawarma place.

Food is lacking the original shawarma taste. It's not even close to the original taste.
Jerusalem shawarma is a much better place than Baladi.
Staff need some basic training to deal with customers.
Won't go this again.

Was thinking about trying this place out tonight, parked in front of the store (sage hill) and was gonna head inside to get some takeout but instantly changed my mind when I looked inside: there were 3 employees standing behind the counter, one was on the phone without a mask on, the other had his mask up only til under his nose, so only one of them was wearing a mask properly. No thanks. If you're not gonna follow the rules and take covid health measures seriously then you're not getting my business. Coincidentally, I saw the same thing at a downtown shawarma place few weeks ago, firstly you couldn't even fully see into the restaurant as their blinds were closed and pulled up until the top almost (during hours of operation) and neither of the 2 guys I saw through the front door were wearing a mask while behind the counter handling food.

I don't know why this place has so many five stars but it's not good. It's not bad either but something about the food just lacks that "X" factor. I think it might be due to it being the only one in the sage hill area? Not sure, but again not a fan. Sorry.

Great food! Amazing customer service! Although you can’t see it behind the mask, the employees welcome you with a great big smile. Food portions are very good and food is very flavourful! Definitely gonna come back to this place next time I’m in Calgary!

I cannot give enough praise to this restaurant, whether its sit in or take away they guys always give me good service. Me and my son regular this place and Omar behind the counter is a legend living, my son appreciates his lollipops so much. I would give these guys 10/10 everyday for customer service alone, the foods they provide is also a 10/10.

It is by far the BEST shawarma place in Calgary. A true family run operation, everyone who works here are AWESOME! We were there on the opening day and one year anniversary and if our family visits Calgary for our shopping this is the only place all 3 of us want to eat. Soooooo good and the best flavour you will never experience at any other shawarma place.
