As Banff’s oldest gift shop, they had a lot of options. I love the handmade items. The staff were very helpful and suggested items I may not have looked at. They were very knowledgeable about the products and the background of the items they had for sale
We visited in the summer and had a wonderful visit with the very friendly people working there. My daughter fell in love with 2 necklaces and chose one, but regretted not buying the other one. Banff Trading Post has been super helpful in finding the one she left there and mailing it to me for Christmas. She’s going to be so happy Christmas morning! Such kind, helpful people who work here, definitely recommend stopping in if you’re heading to Banff!
This place is incredible-their collection of items are really special and feel like a breath of fresh air after walking through the busy high street. I’ll be coming back and recommending in the meantime!
This is a wonderful shop to visit while staying in Banff. Lovely products for sale especially the traditional handcrafted items made by local indigenous artisans. Very friendly and helpful owner and staff members. Definitely worth visiting.
Amazing little souvenir store full of magic, nice interesting items and a lot of history. Items as indigenous crafts, jewelry, moccasins and mukluks. Enough parking spots, just in front of the river, walk path and near to the museum.
Poor customer service staff scowls and gives rude looks to customers! No Hi rude staff! Especially on the national day for truth and reconciliation you would think they would have better staff
One of the more unique stores in Banff. The decor is very interesting to look at, items are priced cheaper than the souvenir stores on the main strip. Staff are friendly, there's free parking in front and around the store, and of course there's the famous Merman:)
I heard they support Indigenous artists but as soon as I walked through the door, I was met with cold shoulder and ignored when I asked for help. They also price things super low, so they either take advantage of Indigenous people or they buy from China. They also sell medicines. Which is a big no-no in Indigenous culture. And when I tried to have conversation, to ask where they got it. They asked me to leave the store. I didn't raise my voice or anything.
Either way, this place is not a place to support if you're BIPOC.
A nice place to shop some souvenirs and gift with local products like amerindian craftmanship, tee-shirts, bags and more to discover! Come meet the welcoming sellers!
After literally 6 COVID tests (3 each for my husband and I, once 14 days prior to arrival date, once 72 hours prior to arrival date, and once immediately after crossing the border), we were finally able to visit Banff from Montana. With ALL the negative COVID test results we were probably literally the safest humans on the planet when we visited this store. My husband had forgotten his mask when walked into the store, and a lady working in the store yelled at him and rudely demanded him to get out of the store. We've not only been carrying vaccination cards everywhere but also our SIX negative COVID test results and we've been doing our best to respect the Canadian regulations surrounding COVID. I get that people can be a bit freaked out about the outbreak, but honestly was the rude manner necessary (especially if you're running a business.) ? If she had asked nicely, we'd gladly return to get his mask and came back to the store. But since that was the attitude thrown at him we immediately walked out and never went back again, and I do not recommend anyone to visit this store either unless you want to be treated rudely by disrespectful store keeper with COVID phobia.
I adore this place so much! The crafts of home made stuff, the talent. I bought some wonderful lovely stuff there, and the prices weren't bad at all. I will be going back in the future.
Unique store with a passionate respectful owner who takes pride in 100% Canadian indigenous or local made items, nothing overseas like most tourist junk in Banff, Authentic regalia arts and crafts, Mukluks, I bought two pair & items from coast to coast. A fantastic collection of taxadermy from the merman to caribou, this is one of my favorite stops in Banff
Wonderful shop with a huge selection of beautiful Indigenous pieces. The prices are excellent! I am 55 years old, and I have been going to the shop since I was a child. Brings back many great memories! Thank-you!
Such a wonderful shop full of so many unique items! They've got indigenous beaded work, moccasins, local made soaps and beautiful furs. Everything that made my eyes sparkle. If you're looking for something Indigenous and local I would suggest you come take a look here. The staff was very friendly, will visit again next time I'm in YYC.
Fantastic selection of items from a variety of indigenous artists. Bought some gorgeous porcupine quill beaded earrings, two mini wallets from my favourite artist Maxine Noel. Good prices!
Stopped in this time in Banff for very specific items we wished we had purchased more of last year. Once again, we were not disappointed! Lovely place!
Friendly, safe protocol followed by the employees. We waited outside for awhile but well worth the wait. I found what I was looking for and rmployee assistance were good
I have loved going to the Trading Post since I was little. I recently moved abroad and Karen was so helpful in sending me images of their amazing moccasins so that I could find a pair I loved. They arrived in the U. K.promptly and in perfect condition. Thank you!
In this store we found beautiful and original items for ourselves and for gifts, from talented indigenous artists. Their creations based on nature are unique and inspiring. Their wolves are particularly impressive for adults and children.
After searching all over for a pair of Laurentian Chief mukluks, I found a pair at the Banff Indian Trading Post. I got the most amazing customer service and they were so helpful! I even had a special surprise when my order arrived. A mini dream catcher in my favorite color, no less. It also included a personal, handwritten thank you! I have been wearing Laurentian Chief slippers and mukluks for over 30 years now. And they are the best! Comfort, warmth and workmanship! I do find it a little comical though. Laurentian Chief products are made in Quebec. I live about 3 hrs from there, but I found what I wanted all the way across the country! Thank you Banff Indian Trading Post for your wonderful service! One day I will visit Banff again, and I will be sure to visit your store!
I ordered new moccasins for my mother (90 yrs old) as she has worn out her last pair. She wears them everyday as they are the only comfort she finds in shoes. Her feet and ankles are swollen and very painful so walking is a challenge. Her moccasins are a Godsend plain and simple. Mom wanted the exact pair however they arrived and are too small as her feet have changed with her age issues. So I ordered another pair in a larger size. Here is the AMAZING THING - I got a call from the store - from a Karen wanting to know if there was a problem as they noticed I had ordered another pair. WHO DOES THAT? I was shocked - there is a place in heaven for a person and the company that cares enough about their customer and their business to do a personal follow up on customer satisfaction. This is a lost art and others should take a lesson from this company's play book. At the very least as a consumer you should not hesitate or be concerned about placing an order with these folks as they are not the company that won't respond or care. For example I ordered something last Feb with a company and I have seen no product and get zero response when I follow up - I've been taken. This however feels so much better a company that cares about their client and reputation. I thank you and felt it my responsibility to share such an amazing experience! The best to all in 2021!
The best customer service I've had in a long time! I called about ordering some moccasins that I wanted shipped to Calgary before Christmas, and had the pleasure of dealing with Karen. She was so sweet and efficient.
Wonderful online experience, store was out of stock on item. Karen called me and walked me through her store and offered to send me photos. I decided on a handmade pair of slippers from Manitoba and was impressed with how stunning they were. Because they were so nice I took back another gift and replaced with another purchase to support this wonderful shop.
Wonderful little shop with unique souvenirs and trinkets! I especially love their moccasins. It's hard for me not to buy a pair every time I go there! Would highly recommend checking this place out.
Beautiful Indigenous art. Very good prices for the high quality work that is put into each item. I got some amazing art that I will treasure for a long time
Possibly the best place in town to get souvenirs. Excellent first nations art, wooden carvings, jewelery, etc. Cool wooded murals on the outside. Oh, also, they have a mummified mermaid.
I've been coming here since I was 9 years old absolutely love this place they've got a mermaid in the shop for you to look at you can get one off and unique items here that are locally made
Beautiful shop. Nice customer service. And there is something intresting in a display case there. I'm not going to say what, but I will give you a hint! Go and check it out! Make sure you take a picture cause you'll not believe it!
Great place to pick up a few treasures to take home from Banff. We started here and noticed that the small keepsakes our daughters purchased were all 20-30 percent more just a few blocks up on Main Street.
I placed an order for some Adrian klis products paid for it, been more than a year and I have not received it yet tried to contact both of them multiple times but no result, very frustrating
An ok place but they sell lots of junk from China which was confirmed by one of the store clerks. There are some original native crafts for sale but my opinion is that if you want something original then go to a reserve an talk to the locals there. Usually there you'll get a better deal and all the money goes to them.
Neat little trading post across the river from Downtown Banff. It has a lot of neat items and has something for everyone. The free parking is a nice bonus as is the prices in the store. It is a great place to stop for less gift shopy items.
A wealth of authentic indigenous goods from local artists such as bead work (Earrings, necklaces, bracelets, key chains etc), books, moccasins, mukluks and other various art, wall hangings and/or trinkets. MUST SEE!
