Banff Service Mechanic

We were driving home after a week of skiing and noticed a low tire alarm on my car. We pulled into Banff Service, the owner was eating lunch, but didn’t hesitate to step away from his meal and went into the shop and got a tire pressure gauge and air hose. He checked all of our tires and filled them up appropriately. He was very friendly and courteous and helpful and would not take any money for the time he spent and for his cold lunch … I’m sure.

I trust this place completely. They are local family and run a tight ship. They are friendly and honest. Fair pricing and always make a way to accommodate me!

My 19yr old son took his older model Mazda 3 in to this shop for brake pads and rotors as they were down to the metal. The shop kept the car for inspection and quoted $2285 + tax for full brake service - detailed on a 3-page invoice. My son questioned this and immediately called me. We refused this service as it was incredibly over-priced and borderline criminal. My son had to pay $79.99 for the quote/inpection. When he came home I did the brake pads and rotors myself for less than $300 - to perfection, and none of the other padding added to the invoice from Banff Service was needed (not even remotely). Also I could tell when doing the work that the wheels had not been removed during the $79.99 inspection and that cost was simply for creating the massive invoice. A very similar case happened to his friend as well shortly after regarding a sensor. I would warn anyone going here to review what you are being quoted or paying because I believe this overcharging is systematic and dishonest at Banff Service. This review has been submitted to AMVIC. No appointment on a Saturday, kind of desperate for help. They took a look, pulled the codes and arranged for us to get help at another location. Incredibly helpful, completely professional and generous on top of it all. Could not imagine better service.

Yet again another incredible and HONEST Canadian shop! I had gone to a shop in WA a week ago, where they told me there was a nail in my tire. I thought they fixed it but they didn’t… instead they sent me on my way without repairing it. So I got to Canada and tire light came on. I came to Banff Service who not only fixed it but also told me there was no patch in the first place. Banff service repaired my tire right away and gave me great advice on tire repair! Can’t thank this team enough!

Came to Banff Service for a tire repair. Fast and effective service. Very professional and helpful. Would use again and highly recommend.

Got a full rear brake replacement and less than 1000km later the brakes failed. 2 separate mechanics told me it looks like they only replaced one calliper & the one that was changed was fitted too tight and caused the part to seize. Got quotes for other jobs (before this incident) and they came in $300-600 more expensive than my other quotes

We were on our way to Banff for a three days camping but had trailer flat tire along Highway 1 west to banff. We replace it with our spare bald tire and decided to push through thingking we could just get it repaired in Canadian tire near Canmore while camping. We were suprized to hear from Canadian tire in Canmore that they cannot accept us as they are busy and fully booked. We called ither small shop and same they are fully booked and waiting time is 4 days. We called almost every shop but no one wanted to take us. Our last call was Banff Services / Mechanic and amazingly a nice lady answered the phone (I think her name is Carol) accepted us and was willing to help. We drove to the shop approx 6 mins away from campsite in Tunnel Mountain. We stated that we couldnt rialsk driving back with a bald tire and needing to get the tire fix. They were very nice and accomodating. They took a look at it and stated the tire is unrepairable as the extent of the damaged is on the side. They offered a fair and honest qoute for a new tire replacement hence, they it would take another day for it to arrived as they dont have a trailer tire in stock. They went aboved and beyond to help us get a new tire which made our travel safe back home.

I pulled into my campsite in Banff on a Sunday night and noticed a piece of metal in one of my tires. Fearing the worst, I was at Banff Service first thing Monday morning, hoping they could get my car in to take a look at it. They were able to bring my car in right away, pull out the metal, and confirm that the tire had no damage. Less than an hour later, I was back to enjoying my vacation, confident that I wouldn't run into issues later during my trip.

A week and 1,500 miles later, the tire hasn't lost any air, so I'm confident that the tire is good. Living in the Southwest US, I hope to never need Banff Service again, but it's comforting to know they're there if I ever need them on future visits to the Canadian Rockies.

Banff service mechanic could not help us with our cars transmission but they were so helpful and friendly they made a stressful situation into something really special and memorable.

Offering their time during such a busy period to check out our car and not even charge us for the assistance really goes above and beyond anything I have ever experienced before.

We had a transmission issue with our Ford Fiesta 2011 and looked to Banff Service for assistance as they were easy to reach from the highway.

Though fully booked they managed to slip us in during a cancellation. Unfortunately the problem wasn't one they were equipped to fix but they charged us nothing and we couldn't be more grateful that we were able to receive such a swift response.

The staff were superbly friendly and patient with directing us to other services as well. Couldn't have asked for more.

The mechanic was super friendly and helpful, work is top notch and very fast. Would highly recommend.

Bless the guys working here, was driving from edmonton the night before and blew off an axle boot. They were super helpful even after being closed and supplied me parts at a good price to be able to get back to my car and fix it. Life savers.

This shop was excellent. Today my vehicle started having issues when I was driving from alberta to bc, we called this shop and they squeezed us in right away when we came through Banff. They replaced the part responsible for the issue and did a quick check up to make sure we were all good to get back on the road. I am totally amazed they were able to get us all sorted out and back on the road in just a few hours! So greatful for their great work, friendly attitude, and willingness to fit us in so last minute!
