I visited the Ben specifically for dry needling, he was very professional, knowledgeable and gentle in releasing my muscles using the needle. I highly recommend him as a physiotherapist!

Our appointment with Jacob Carter and Dr. Hiemstra was excellent. They are both extremely knowledge in their fields and easily built a quick rapport. Their insights and experience with post injury recovery and return to sport are second to none and highly recommended.

Dr. Michaela Kopka misdiagnosed me with a meniscus injury, found nothing during surgery (was just a bursitis!), and then decided to “clean things up” while she was in there - grinded the cartilage off the back of my knee cap where she thought she saw “something”. It’s been almost a year with extensive physio and injections and now I can barely walk with constant pain all around that knee cap that was fine before the surgery! I am clinically depressed now and will likely get much worse as I age as my mobility is so diminished and my body breaks down from inactivity. I was extremely active before the surgery (hockey, snowboarding, climbing, golf, mountain biking), now all options for an active life have been stolen from me. I have the mobility of a senior citizen now, with constant pain. She carelessly took risks with my procedure which resulted in permanent damage and life-altering consequences for me and my family. I hope this post stops someone else from becoming a victim and I hope she reads this and in the future leaves her ego outside the operating room.

I am pleased to recommend the team at Banff Sports Medicine. I have been there several times. From the warm reception at the front desk to the helpful and informative visits with the doctor and the physiotherapist, it was all very positive. Dr. McIsaac took care to diagnose my symptoms and to answer my queries. The physiotherapist, Aly W, provided the correct exercises, instructions and encouragement to help me improve my health. She communicates well and is easy to work with on routines. Overall, BSM is a very professional team and a pleasure to visit.

If you are looking for a professional clinic, staffed with knowledgeable and highly experience staff, this is place for you! Jacob, my physiotherapist, assessed, diagnosed and provided me with a plan to remedy my injury. Can’t recommend this clinic and Jacob enough!

Banff sports medicine was extreamly professional and very easy to work with. They saw me swiftly, efficiently and quickly accessed my injury to give me the required tools for a key recovery.

I have seen a lot of different physio therapist over the years and they offer and a great service too the bow valley.

My appointment with Aly W was great. I booked her last minute because my normal physiotherapist was booked. I found her to be very knowledgeable, thorough and has a great attitude. She’s emailed me some home work and a few helpful notes. I’ll be using her again if I’m need. Full stars for Aly and Banff Sport Medicine.

The team at the clinic are fantastic. Have personally worked with Jacob (physio) as well as Dr Reed and Dr McIsaac in sports med and have nothing but positive experiences. They listen to your concerns and you feel heard and they adequately treat you accordingly.

I highly recommend Jacob Carter as a physiotherapist at the Banff Sport Medicine. He helped me with my frozen shoulder. The shock treatment and exercises he gave helped me greatly along my journey to recovery. Very friendly, knowledgeable, excellent advice and follows up on your progress:)

I am so pleased to have been referred to and received super excellent services from Banff Sport Medicine - Dr Matt McIsaac and physiotherapy with Jacob Carter. Once the results of my MRI came through I was able to get right down to work with the excellent combination of manual therapy, IMS needling and targeted strengthening exercises specific to my desire to return to ice climbing. It was so helpful working with Jacob who is also an ice climber and thus fully understood my needs and goals. Outstanding! Thankyou.

A friend of mine referred me to Banff Sports Medicine and go to see Ben Lindemulder, and she was totally 100% right! Its a fact, Ben is one of the best physioteraphist in town. No doubt about it. I only started seeing him early December 2022 and with the amount of visits I made, my physical well being changed. I am not a 100% a healthy human being, into my early 40's, I must add. But, with his tips and advise and some bone cracks and needling. I can totally disclosed that He is indeed doing a great job. Jacob is a great physio that really take the time to diagnose your issue and gives practical steps for prevention as well as great treatments in clinic. The Banff Sport Medicine space is very nice - great views and lots of space to demonstrate exercises.

Dr. Kopka and her team were amazing. I had a pretty mangled meniscus tear and been given the runaround by various other healthcare providers for months. However, the clinic recognized the seriousness and and I had a consult within a week of referral. Dr. Kopka really listened to my concerns and worries, and answered all my questions. She was not dismissive nor cut me short - so different from other surgeons. Dr. Kopka was caring and patient and I felt seen and heard. She also recognized the urgency and I had a surgery date within only four weeks! On surgery day, everything went smoothly, all my questions were answered and everyone was very caring. For my post-op, Dr. Kopka again took time to explain everything very well. Overall, I feel like I was in the best hands possible, and can only recommend Dr. Kopka and her team.

After breaking my knee in January 2021 and having a wrong diagnosis from another hospital, Banff Sport Medicine was quick to get me in for surgery. Dr. Buchko went out of his way to make sure I was comfortable throughout the whole process, and left very little scaring! During my recovery, I saw physiotherapist Ben Lindemulder. Ben has always been knowledgeable and thoughtful in his practice, and I could not have asked for a better physio to help me along the way and get me back on the slopes. It is so nice to see such an amazing team under one roof!

Extremely knowledgeable, professional & dynamic multidisciplinary team at the new Banff Sport Medicine Clinic location in Canmore, AB. My physiotherapist Ben Lindemulder was very attentive and thorough with assessing my injuries, providing excellent attention to detail in explaining mechanics of body/injury, reasons for manipulations, treatment options, and exercise program. As a long term Banff resident I cannot speak highly enough of the services provided by the doctors and surgeons at Banff Sports Medicine. They have supported me and my wife through a variety of acute and chronic sports injuries with a faultless level of expertise, care and attention to detail.

Dr McIsaac especially has shown an immense level of care and compassion, going above and beyond in assisting us with some difficult injuries and guiding us through various parts of the healthcare system, leaving no stone unturned in his search for resolutions as well as any possible underlying causes. His colleague Dr Reed has also provided invaluable support and services whilst waiting for surgical consultations.

As for the surgical team, a shoulder repair from Dr Hiemstra in 2013 blessed me with a problem-free return to sports after years of recurring issues, and then Dr Lovse did a beautiful job on a recent Achilles’ tendon repair. Post-op follow up with Dr Buchko has been equally great, providing clear information on the repairs as well as answering all my questions and providing estimated timelines for a return to activities. Their office staff’s communications and administration have also always been timely and reliable.

We are extremely lucky to have such a world class facility available to us in the Bow Valley, allowing us to return to the various sports and activities we moved here for in the first place.

I have been to see Dr Reed at Banff Sport Med for both my ankle and my knee injury. The entire team at BSM is always professional and welcoming, and I feel as though I am well taken care of. Their new space is absolutely beautiful, and it is exciting to see so many Sport Medicine and injury therapy/ recovery specialists under one roof.

I highly recommend physiotherapy with Jacob! He is very knowledgeable and really takes the time to connect with his patients. I like that you have his attention for your whole treatment.

After 8 months of knee pain after a misdiagnosis from the hospital, Dr. McIsaac identified my ACL tear in a matter of minutes and set me down the path to recovery. From thinking I'd have to give up skiing to dropping cliffs 13 months post-op. I can't thank BSM enough for getting me back to what I love most!

This review can’t fully describe my experience but in short summary, Dr. Kopka is an amazing surgeon and human, she took the time to educate me on my specialized knee procedure and was very understanding to my concerns of wanting to get back to normal active lifestyle, she was patient and very caring.

Dr. Kopka has been amazing. I had surgery with her in February and the appointments before and after were efficient, informative, and helpful.

From initial consult with Dr. MacIsaac to rotator cuff surgery with Dr. Kopka my experience was fantastic. I highly recommend this clinic!

Appointment was very helpful, informative and knowledgeable. Gave me confidence on moving forward. Even had a question after the appointment due to lots of great information, so i emailed the admin staff. Got answer back and they even followed up with 2nd question promptly even after the first question. This type of service is the standard all businesses should have.

If I could give more than five stars I would. The 1hr drive to Canmore was the only draw back, but seeing how good the doctors are I would drive further for their caliber of care.
