I’m going to drive across the city for their home baked pitas … ultra fresh! They had some awesome items with great prices. Looked like they’re doing a Reno rn and there’s going to be donair and stuff
Lots of great produce and meats at reasonable prices. There were tons of interesting ethnic food products. We were big fans of the fresh pita bread and the customer service was excellent! Apparently if you create an account online before going you can receive 5% off your purchases over a certain amount (I think 50$?). I will definitely be returning!
Basha Foods International is an excellent place to fulfill your grocery needs. With its extensive product selection, well-organized layout, exceptional customer service, cleanliness, and competitive prices, it stands out as a top-notch grocery store. I will definitely be returning for all my future grocery shopping trips. Thank you:)
Basha Foods International is my go-to grocery store. They have a fantastic selection of organic and specialty items. The quality of their products is excellent, and I appreciate that they prioritize sourcing local and sustainable options. The store layout is convenient, and their customer service is top-notch.
Very bad quality produce. I recently just bought persimmons and they tasted very bitter where you can’t eat them at all. I also bought figs and they went bad after a day of purchase. I would definitely NOT recommend buying your produce from them as they don’t have good quality. I tried calling them regarding this issue and the produce manger was unhelpful and unkind and did not want to solve the issue when it’s there fault! Super disappointed and dissatisfied. Definitely won’t be coming back. Save your money!
This used to be my fav place for halal meat. Recently prices went up 1.5 x at least. No clear reason. Also, ull notice variability in the cuts and quality. Sometimes steaks are cut very very thin like 1 cm ribeye. It hurts to see. You can ask for better cuts, sometimes they give, lots of times I was refused”lots of cuts in the shelves, pick any “
Just had severe food poisoning while pregnant after buying beef liver few days ago! Beware don’t buy from this store they don’t care if items are expired and sometimes they even make discounts on them. Never coming here again
Being one of the very rate middle eastern food suppliers in town should encourage you bring more variety and availability in tour items and not less.since competition is low and you have an increased capability of selling off your items.it would be great to have a special section for ready made dishes (catering) and Fresh Arabic Sweets.try to copy a bit the successful model of Adonis. You are the main players in the market where you are.make the best of it and attract customers to you before Adonis gets there.
Great store. Really good fresh produce at a good price. Imported an international products are priced really well. North American can type products are expensive. We get Egyptian fava beans and Egyptian falafel here that we can't get anywhere else.
Most of the east Indian grocery items are over priced and a lot of them are expired. Good place if you are into halal meat everything else is kinda meh!
They are selling expired items under the name of discounted items, the non discounted items they have expiry date but the discounted items they don't have!? , they tried to remove the expiry date but if you can see deeply you will find the expiry date, I called the manager and she was unprofessional and she said they came without expiry date from the supplier, when i showed her the date still clear, she said no she can't see any thing and she told me that most of our products are without expiry date, so becareful when you buy anything from this store, make sure that you are not buying expired items.
While I have mixed feelings about this place, it isn't entirely wrong, the meats are for the most part fresh, and they do have excellent halal prime cuts, you are paying a Halal tax, I'm sure the extra charge comes from being a niche market, but your wallet feels the difference. The meats are good, and the bakery (when it was open) was a nice change of pace to stop and snack on the Arabic sweets. Unfortunately, one of the times I (my family) did feel disrespected, one of the employees had intentionally made us feel as though making a simple return/exchange like we were liars, thief's, or some monsters because we didn't have Receipts, honestly a horrible end to our night, all said and done it was a one-off experience, but one instead has never gone through.
There is a big selection of halal meats and middle eastern products. The place can be a bit cleaner with better lighting. The staff, at the checkout, are unecessarily aggressive, and this was even before covid started. With Covid, it's gone to a whole new level of hostility. Courtesy and professional customer service is lacking
I was so disappointed to see the ground meet I bought was not fresh I have bought ground meat from local buchery and the meet was long time in my trunk but it never got brown or grey inside. Although all website indicate that this is a fine meat, I don’t like it.
The other problem is that they don’t have any return policy anymore, at the beginning of the COVID-19 most of stores stopped accepting return items but after while they resumed this service. But Basha still doesn’t accept any returning item.
Also, I usually buy dry items from this store. Since I am studen I always have my backpack on my shoulders. The management approached me and asked me to either put my backpack in my car (if I had) or leave my backpack with them at service desk or just walk out. I said why and I heard: “it is what it is”. I know that some stores have such policy however, they provide a locker too for example Canadian Tire. I had to purchase few items and I had no other choice but to leave my backpack at their desk. When I was done I tried to test and see if anyone notices if I pick up my backpack. No one noticed! What if someone had stolen my backpack. I won’t recommend them unless you have to, specially for meet!
First time buying from this shop, since I generally only go to lebanese shops. I bought 3 packs of nugat with pistachios and they were hard as rocks! I called to let them know and the lady was so hard to talk to. I think certain things are ok but they should not be putting stuff that hard to eat on sale!
Not my first choice of a store Prices seem a bit high For comparison Hand sanitizer during the beginning of the pandemic for 40 ml I believe paid 4.99 straight up home made 1L Step well known brand for 6.99 at Costco I gave two stars because of the hard working staff
DON'T BUY MEAT FROM BASHA. Bought some chicken (Wings & Breast) and some Beef, Ground beef and Steak meat. Everything i bought was very STALE. Like Rotten meat. Tasted really bad too. They put good meat on the top and the bad meat at the bottom of the packaging. Save your money and go to Walmart, Costco, Superstore, Canadian Wholesale, or other local meat shops and buy your HALAL meat. Don't buy meat from here because it's cheap. You'll regret it.
Reading the reviews seems like others have experienced same issues with bad/stale meat and expired goods. I will be making a complaint to Alberta Health Services.
Very BAD shopping experience, I bought a box of Date and when I opened it at home it was really garbage quality. I returned it back to the store but surprisingly instead of apologizing, the manager brought many excuses and didn't refund me! Not right place for shopping.
Never buy any kind of meat from there. They sell very nasty unfresh meat. The taste of meet here disgusting i spend 300 dollar in this store and end up to threw away meat. When you cook spoon much smell. Ground meat disgustingggggggg never ever buy meat from there. Please stay away.
Have shopped at Bashas’, since they were in Temple. 360 change when they moved location! Meat is always fresh, large variety of fresh produce and assortment of imported products. Their meat and fresh produce prices are extremely reasonable. Staff are helpful and pleasant.
Save your money and go somewhere else. Very expsnsive items and very bad customer service. The management treating their employees very bad, then they are expecting the employees will be very productive. One star is more than what they need.
The best Middle Eastern products grocery store in Calgary, as to variety, size of store and service. This extends to some other international products as well. Gary
I bought "lean ground beef" on October 24 and the label on package says packed on October 24. I opened the package for cooking just one day later, October 25. Although the label says it is best before October 29, it is rotten. One more important note: This is not happening for the first time. This is the second experience for me. You guys are not paying attention to your customers health and your labels are giving false info. I have the photos for you.
Not the freshest food.the vegetables/ fruit go bad within 1 day. The meat also looks extremely old. I only come buy certain times that are frozen or take a while to go bad. I wouldn’t recommend you buy the meat from here
Good place for halal and healthy products especially from mediterranean. If you miss the smell of spices and the flavors you are familiar with, this is the place for you.
Sale rotten produce. Do not take returns once sale is done. Very bad customer service. Left rotten vegetables at the counter when someone who was saying that he is a general manager of that store refused the return. Behaviour was very rude. He was still dreaming that he was still in Middle East.
Go there only if you are looking for rotten/expired products and junk.
Lots of south Asian food selection. Also has some middle eastern options. Vegetables have good options and lots of dry grains for south Asian cooking. Good selection of spices and they are decent in quality. Fairly priced and free parking.
Bought a sheesha coal cover that didnt fit mine because it was too small. Took it back the next day for an exchange, while it still has the scan code sticker and everything attached. I was informed because I tried it on, it wont be accepted for a return and that there is discoloration of the metal and item is considered used now. First of all if the metal is discolored that means it's of lower quality stainless cover that isn't proper for smoking. Second you should have taken it back because of the discoloration. Bad customer service in general and the produce is usually rotten as well. Not recommended.
Very rude customer service. I go there for halal meat and whenever I need to talk to their customer service (most likely owners), they are very rude. Once I witnessed a incident at check out counter where owner was yelling on the cashier because she forgot the code of one of the bulk item.
They had good vegetables collection but most of them weren't that fresh. Seems like their South Asian grocery items were been in the shelf unsold for quite a while
So I purchased a coffee from here. After brewing one small cup of black coffee it had a strange taste to it. I checked on the receipt and it did not mention that you can not return an open item. I drove 40km to return it and the person at the front desk said and argued that it tastes like coffee and it is a new product. She refused to refund or take the item back because it was open. On the receipt it says “7 days with proof of purchase no returns on produce or meat” it does not say you can’t return when it is opened. It had a very strange taste when brewed. I didn’t like it. The front desk person also judged my taste and said that it is my fault that I drink other types of coffee. They provide Good service when you pay but bad customer service when you want your money back.
Look at the expiry date before you buy anything from here, store takes a long time to restock the stuff you like. At the back where the meat section is, I once saw hundreds of chicken laying on the floor where staff walk around with their shoes. I thought the chicken went bad but actually saw them cutting and packaging them for resale. I believe halal meat should not be laying down on the floor where people walk. That was a site I would never forget. I don't buy my meat anymore from there and I'm sure the owner of this store doesn't get his meat from there too. He is so cheap and stingy.
Very good for middle eastern and indian pickles, spices, hookah needs. Their produce is fine, they will often have things that you won't always find at other grocery stores like okra, eggplant or apricots. Their meat selection is good too, you mind find better pricing in the north eastern part of the city (castle ridge, westwinds and falconridge).
If I could give this store a 0 star I would it’s sad how they treat their employees! A old friend of mine use to work there she quite cause how the bosses behave their particularly the 2 male bosses. They employees at this location are so kind though. It’s Ramadan they Should not treat their employees this way. Hopefully Allah will make them realize this.for now I choose to never support this store I hope my Muslim friends are looking at this. Not to mention some of the rotten outdated products they sell.
Attention Everyone! I have a business that’s called Basha; my family name. I always received mistaken calls I direct them to the Basha Foods kindly and we always sadly shopped at this bad store. Until today; My wife, mother-in-law and my 7-years old son were at this store today when my son wanted to have a carrot so badly. My mother-in-law, who doesn’t speak English, took the attendant’s smile to my child as a permission as he pulled a carrot and started biting on it. The manager came running from his office down on my child and start attacking my child! He’s still crying and shocked since then. My wife said “I’m sorry, we’ll pay for it. ” didn’t know what to say.since we can afford extra 20 – 30 cents no problem… as we spend hundreds of dollars in this miserable store every month. Please guys, if you care about humanitarian aspect and care about children’s’ feeling, please boycott this store! They don’t carry anything that FreeStone Produce doesn’t carry, for much cheaper even when Basha foods have one-day sale; FreeStone produce have better price on regular basis (i.e.: sugar) I’m going to execute series of legal action in this matter.
Very very bad experience here! The people are incredibly rude. You have to make sure the customer leaves happy! They don’t even refund anything even if you ended up with a VERY BAD ITEM! Absolutely disgusting.
