Bear Creek Animal Clinic

I'd like to give 2 stars, as previously Bear Creek had been great to deal with. This had become my pups' clinic locally, seeing them for annual shots and more recently teeth removal surgery last year. About a month ago I called for an appointment as my Boston was experiencing some discomfort and illness (not acting like himself). I had got booked in after a days wait and brought him in. They diagnosed him with kennel cough (as he was coughing and spitting up) and really treated the situation as such. The vet just pressed on his trachea and listened to vitals. Prescribing medication for a week, treating him as if he's contagious and to rest up. THIS WAS A MISDIAGNOSIS! They never asked for a follow up, or to do further testing (blood work, ultrasound etc). 2 weeks later my dog became violently ill, unable to eat, walk or control himself. I IMMEDIATELY called, they asked for symptoms over the phone; then proceeded to tell me "sorry, he can't be seen.it sounds very serious so we recommend calling around town to see if another clinic can see him". THANKFULLY I DID! Another clinic saw him immediately - even fully booked too - for a small "emergency fee" (that was never an option even presented by Bear Creek). He was in surgery that same afternoon, after finding a tumour on his spleen that had previously ruptured (likely the 2+ weeks prior) causing internal bleeding. It was easily caught in an ultrasound, and seen in his blood work. After removal, and at a follow up they booked out of courtesy, he was sadly diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma. His symptoms ALL matched this! This is a very aggressive condition, likely taking my dogs life in the months to come. I can only think of what if I didn't get him into another clinic that day, or if Bear Creek had caught things sooner at the first appointment. Very disappointing. I know we're all human, but this quickly became a life-or-death situation.
