Fresh, tender and succulent brisket and ribs. Platters are large and can feed between 4-6 people. Staff were polite and efficient.
I'll recommend and visit again.

Great place for burgers and BBQ. Arguably the best BBQ you will get in in any midsized town in Alberta

Service was great. Pork ribs were decent as is the corn bread. The brisket was ok but I've definitely had better in other places around Calgary. The chicken wings were a big disappointment and would not recommend. I only tried two of the sauces but both were excellent. I probably won't go back as there are better BBQ joints in the calgary area.

With the amount of meat we ordered they only gave us a 2 tiny cup of sauce like good for a small fries for kids take note our order is not like a small fries. Please do better.

Have been here several times. Beef brisket my favorite. Baked beans have a kick to them. Love potato salad. And just gotta have corn bread. Good selection of beer. Service has been pretty good as well.

We came on a trike with a small dog, sign said no dogs allowed out of vehicles so we left vary disappointed

If you like smoked meat, then this is the place to be! It gets busy but service is pretty fast, although the servers don't know much about their products or drinks it still rocks. We've been there number of times will go again.

Great stop from Calgary on the way South. Easily accessed off the highway. Loved the atmosphere and service. Food was excellent and a lot of options! Prices were $$ reasonable, my only small personal fault as a big eater, was the small side portions.but you definitely go for the meat!

First time in and I must say it was very nice style and they also have a takeout window. The food was very good. Did find the brisket a bit dry. But it was tasty.the chicken thighs were very nice.

If you love eat meat Big Sky BBQ Pit is the best place to visit. I recommend to bring dishes to get the leftover food.

The food was excellent. Our server was Cheyenne. We told her we had not been here before and she took the time to explain the menu thoroughly. Cheyenne was extremely pleasant and provided outstanding service. The meet was tender, not over smoked, and the choice of bbq sauces were phenomenal. Overall we thought the menu was quite impressive. We’ve driven past this place many times, and decided to stop in today and we are so happy we did.
I took extra photos. The interior was super impressive including the washrooms. We ordered a sharing plate of just meat “Carnivore” and fed the 2 of us nicely.

We came in from Calgary to try this place for the first time today and it was well worth the drive. Very good price for the amount of food we got, with the best brisket I've ever had. Definitely making the trip back.

So absolutely doesn't seem to have any seasoning on the brisket they serve all the fat and for paying i think $28/lb you would hope they wouldn't sell you all the fat. The smoked wings were dry and tough. The smoked chicken was only chicken thighs not whole chicken. The sausage is sweet. My kids only enjoyed the pulled pork but nothing gives me the smokie flavour I'm looking for or smoke ring I'm looking for. It was an experience howeveri don't thing we will be going back.

You gotta eat here if you’re not from here! The Big Sky BBQ Pit is by far the best BBQ joint in Alberta, an experience you will never forget. Eat in or take out, they even have a drive thru. Try one of there 5 sauces. What! I know it’s a cool place and the staff is super friendly

All the stars are for nice rustic ambience and servers.they are always great, especially Keana! I love that they are motorcycle friendly. I just wish the food was better. I've eaten there twice now and am not impressed. The first time I had chicken with cornbread. I LOVE cornbread so was really looking forward to it but it was so dry I'd never get it again. Second time I ordered the mac n cheese with pulled pork. It seemed old, like itd been sittin out a while and it was soupy. As in a puddle of cream/oil. Gross. Pork on top was fine though.

We ordered the peach cobbler for dessert. It was very disappointing (unlike any peach cobbler we have ever had-not baked in an oven. It was cold)

My parents went there for the first time to celebrate their 53rd wedding anniversary and were super excited to go. When they got there they were told they HAD TO eat outside even though there were plenty of tables inside. My mom is disabled with major mobility issues and has an extreme allergy to wasps that require an epi pen if she's stung. There were a lot of wasps outside which was why my mom requested to sit inside. The hostess told her oh well! That's where you have to sit. Really poor customer service and obviously don't accommodate people with disabilities.

Love the sausage and brisket. Good selection of bbq sauces (spicy ones are actually spicy!). Staff was pleasant.

The sausage, beans, and scalloped potatoes were really great.
The beef and pork were good, so were the corn bread and jalapeño cheddar biscuits.
Chicken was a bit bland, as were the bbq sauces for dipping.
The mac&bacon was odd, flavour was good, but it had a powdery texture.

Amazing service from Chloe and Michaela! Today these ladies & the other team members were short staffed, but they did an incredible job with grace, diligence and a smile- despite having some nasty tables! They ensured that our table and every other table were doing well! Drinks were never empty, they answered any questions we had as it was our first time!

Remember people, please be kind to your server, they are short staffed like everyone else in the hospitality industry!

The food —OMG, soooo gooood! Good thing we didn’t eat anything until we got to the big sky bbq & we still took food home lol!

My GF and I wanted to take a drive out of the city and we were not disappointed, some friends Recommended this place & we see why!

BIG SKY BBQ is where it’s at, beautiful drive outside Calgary, amazing service & incredible food! We will be back!

Also the decor is top notch, the signs all around were humerus & great atmosphere!

Prepare to have amazing leftovers or a very tight belt! The food here is incredible, the portions are huge, and the menu is filled with all sorts of delicious options. Even leaving with a full stomach I was drooling at the take away BBQ options to make at home.

I ordered a large order it was incomplete when I checked at hone…. And when I phoned I received the run around they did not know what to do or how to help me out…. I am still waiting fir an answer…. Very poor customer service…. They place continuous to slide in my experiences…. Three poor experiences in a row…. Not sure I will be back ever.

Went to check out this place today. We waited for about 30 mins because it is packed so it is okay with us. Our only simple request is that we sit somewhere where there is shade and we are willing to wait longer. My parents can't take the heat. The server told us we are going to wait a little longer and we said it is fine and okay. Now, there are 2 tables in the shade that got vacant so we thought she will sit us in one of these tables. But guess what? NOT! She put us in the middle where it is too hot. I told her my parents can't sit there and if it was just me it would be fine but she still insisted and she just said we'll show how it's done. We followed her and sat and my parents can't take it. We said we are willing to wait as we already waited long enough. But she didn't even gave us the light of day. What a waste! WILL NEVER COME BACK! WILL DEFINITELT TELL MY FRIENDS NOT TO GO HERE AS WELL.

Here’s what they do well the meat cannot fault the taste or quality. The sides need some seasoning potatoes lacking a lot, corn bread stale I would avoid and stick to the meat. Would recommend sitting outside or going when it’s not so hot there no AC it’s boiling in there my ice melted so fast. And I know some things can’t be avoided but it made the experience real poor, Flys absolutely everywhere again it’s a big open area but one or two sure but it was constant. It’s my fourth time there and it feels like the customer service has gone down and down and now there relying on the name and the meat maybe reevaluate the little things, as I think most people will be one visit and never again.

If you are in the area of Okatokes AB, or in the Calgary area make the trip to Big Sky BBQ Pit. There is plenty of outside eating spaces and gas heaters for the cool Alberta nights. The food is spectacular and before you make judgment be sure to try the food first. The bread on the pulled pork or brisket sandwich is heaven for the bread lovers out there. The mac&cheese fantastic, and the scallop potatoes delicious! Service is great, the restaurant was spotless! Check them out! You will not be disappointed!

BBQ done right! The team at Big Sky know what they are doing and it shows. The 'twinkies' are awesome, and the brisket is super! Highly recommend. Lots of outdoor seating for great distancing too!

Takeout - Tried the pulled pork and pulled chicken sandwiches, while the meat on them was incredibly tastey it is literally just smoked pulled meat on bread.no sauce, no veggie, not even toasted bread.
We understand that's the style of true bbq pit, but $16 for a dry meat & bread only sandwich with a ceaser salad which didnt have dressing (maybe it was supposed to be on the side and got missed), just not a great first impression.

Cool atmosphere enjoyed the location and style, if we go back again I think we will order the bbq platters
and hope it is more of what we expect based on other alberta smokehouses that we have been to.

First time here was amazing. Came during lunch on a weekday so we were promptly seated and had our order within 15 mins.

I was a little worried lower turnover, weekday, covid would've hurt BBQ places the hardest, but fear not!

The pulled pork was the star here. Incredibly moist and tender. No dry pork here, only fatty, juicy and flavourful pulled pork. Ask for extra sauces.

The brisket was par and the ribs were good. Both had good bark and flavours, and weren't too salty. Lean brisket was tender and not dry.

The beans were generous and tasty. I would recommend a medium or larger size for coleslaw if you like it. Cornbread was the casualty of slow days. Edges were dry and tough.

Pleasant experience overall, very worth the drive and prices are very reasonable for such good quality.

Very disappointed. Missed out chicken on our plate. Service was poor. We just got 2 sets of cutlery for 4 people. We asked them for 2 more sets for salad and potatoes. The server brought those to us when we were almost done with our meal. We used the knife as a fork to scoop up the salad. So frustrating. We also ordered side dishes of beans. When we were ready to leave, the beans were still not ready. Of course, they intended to charge us for the beans even though we did not have it. They cancelled the charge after we told them we haven't had the beans.

Fantastic place! Just a couple suggestions: your Mac and cheese is amateur. You can do much better! The sausage we had was not great. There’s way better sausage in Alberta. Find it and smoke it up real nice!

I dined here with my friends this past Sunday around 5pm and it was the worst experience we've ever had. We ordered a Caesar salad with our meal and was told by a second server 30+ minutes later that it was out. They half-heartedly offered us beans instead. Later on, a table that was seated after us received a Caesar salad. We ordered various other items that never made it to our table only to be told by a server that it was out after having waited 30+ minutes. A water jug/refill took 15+ minutes. The service team was really unfriendly and condescending and never followed through with anything we asked. It was a busy evening to be fair but we have never felt so unwelcomed in an establishment and have no desire to return. It seemed like none of the staff were communicating with each other. Another person who exudes the presence of a manger walked with our bill to offer us a 10% discount that they "never give to anyone" even though we only received half of our original order. He spoke in a tone as if we owed him and the business something almost as if that we were an inconvenience to him.

This restaurant is nowhere near prepared to be fully operational. Our expectations were not met and we walked out of there with negative impression and extremely disappointed.

Was very disappointed for a variety of reasons:
- out of many items
- was charged for a drink that was terrible (wanted a different one but was told I'd be charged for both)
- items were missing when we first picked up our order
- poor service (forgotten drinks, asked for something to be checked due to an allergy and had to ask again)
- not offered dessert
- did not get to see our physical bill - was just given the machine with amount entered.
First time going and very likely the last.

Food was amazing! Had the carnivore which had brisket, sausage, pulled pork, pork ribs, and chicken. We also had corn bread, biscuit and porky mac and cheese. Excellent bbq!

BBQ feast was delicious.but. We went on Father's day today, showed up 11: 15am, opens at 11am to get a seat. Got seated right away but didn't get food in until 12: 40pm. 1.5 hours to get food? We were told they had catering to tend to and it was the busiest day of the year. If you know this, then? I looked around, no one had food out at the restaurant until at least after an hour of seating. A lot of empty tables after our round ate and left and line up outside the parking lot. Tells me, something's not organized right in front and back of house. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to see. We'd be back for the food, but would expect a long wait. Hopefully it's not like that all the time on special occasion days.

Tried out one of their platters with the brisket, pulled pork, and sausage, while the sausage was excellent the rest of the meal left a lot to be desired. The brisket was under cooked and dry as well as flavorless, and the pulled pork was really dry. All in all it was an extremely disappointing dinner and I don't think I will be back any time soon.

Authentic bbq food and great atmosphere.

Enjoyed a bottle of Landshark that was on special.
Smoked Chicken wings- Server recommended we get the salt and pepper wings and we can sample all the bbqs sauce flavors. Great tip, we really appreciated it.
Burnt Ends- menu states if available and they were. So delicious.

We took home the Bacon, Jalapeno Mac and Cheese, Ribs, Beans and Cranapple Crisp. All flavorful and delicious.

We also took home a couple items from the butcher shop. Rib Eye steak and Hickory Rub.
Delicious food and excellent service. Can't wait to go back.

We live in the city but our friends live on the south side of Calgary. We are used to the "chic" spots like Comery and Hayden Blocks (see my review on Hayden Block). This place blows those two out of the water. Quality and juiciness of the meat are superior. Flavors are more pronounced. Service was prompt. Everything we paid for was supplied. As far as Texas style BBQ in Calgary area, this is it. Hayden Block needs to get a grip. Stop blowing up your IG account and start looking at what others are doing. In this case, its better. Hat tip to the folks at Big Sky BBQ. Every protein we had was perfectly done. We had the big party platter. And lets not talk about the price differences.yikes. I will be returning to Big Sky over and over. Well done ladies and gentlemen. Its clear you are taking pride in what you are doing.

I come here fairly regularly and have had great experiences the majority of the time. I think maybe twice we have had underwhelming meat, but hey, that can happen. I'm still giving a 5 star rating because 99% of the time the meat is perfect, service is friendly, and we have a great time. We always order the carnivore platter. Feeds 2 of us with a bit of leftovers. I haven't had a chance to try everything yet but the jalapeño cheddar biscuits are SO good, and you have to try the Texas twinkies! Yum.

Great patio, bbq menu is big and well executed. Their spicy bbq sauce is unique and delicious. We bought steaks to bring home and they were very tender and similar in price to the grocery store. Worth the drive from Calgary
