I'm not a big seafood eater, but this place was fantastic. Every bite delicious, atmosphere was excellent, servers were friendly and helpful - all around wonderful experience. Highly recommend and definitely coming back!
This is in my opinion the best seafood in the city. So tasty! Great service. Awesome atmosphere. Little pricey but you deffinalty get what you pay for. Highly recommend.
Maybe we were just there on an off night, because we had heard amazing things. Here was our experience, take it or leave it.
Very friendly staff, seated us quickly with our reservation. Specials were mentioned and drinks were ordered and delivered in a timely fashion.
We ordered appetizers.our appetizers were sent at different times, making us wait to enjoy ours, while theirs arrived ~5mins later.which is odd.
When we had ordered our entrees, the server said “I’ll take your order now, but not put it in so you are not rushed. ” Well, we were about half way through the appetizers when the main course arrived.
They were also delivered at different times.
I ordered the jerk crab, and was warned it was messy. Fair warning. My disappointment came in the presentation. Crab legs on mashed potatoes. The crab shell was saturated and unable to crack. Leaving me to fight with slippery potatoe covered crab legs to break apart.
Fine, I’m picky, whatever.
The food was ok, the service was ok, and the atmosphere was ok.
Service was terrific, and so was the food. A gentleman, who I assume was the manager, came through with some amazing wine recommendations as well as some future recommendations. We did the buck a shuck, which was a lot of fun at a great value. Also tried the Calamari and the Lobster Flatbread. Not my first time visiting and certainly not my last.
Food was amazing from start to finish. We likely had the best waitress in the joint tonight. If you enjoy seafood then I guarantee you'll love this place! Their drinks are good too!
The food was amazing and the dj on the patio absolutely on point. I will be definitely coming back and the pineapple sause for the oysters was incredible. All in all it was a great experience
From the reviews and the website this place looks fancy, it's not as fancy as 1 would think. That said, the food and drinks were AMAZING! Very fresh ingredients and worth the price tag
Came here for the first time last night and had a great time! Our bartender Donald was friendly and attentive despite it being VERY busy last night. 10/10 would recommend!:)
Popped in for a quick it of Oysters during a busy week. In for a conference the menu seemed so interesting I wanted to see the place.
Dark woods and fascinating atmosphere, Black Pearl indeed! Really great service and as an Oyster fan I must say, expertly shucked and a unique offering of sides too.
Can’t wait to get deeper into that delicious menu upon next visit to town…
Stopped in for seafood because my partner had a craving, and we had a great time! Especially appreciated the offerings for non-alcoholic cocktails - no plain ol' Shirley Temples here: the bar clearly put as much effort into the mocktails as their boozy ones. The food was also amazing! I loved the lobster ravioli I got, so rich and flavourful. And the bruschetta starter was to die for! Will definitely be back in the future. Roheen (sp?) was our server and she was great.
This place always offers amazing food and service. Can't beat the buck a shuck oysters everyday, do recommend making a reservation during that time though. Drinks are amazing also.
I’ve debated sharing a poor review because I used to really like this restaurant however the last few times I’ve gone I’ve noticed a decline in service, cleanliness (those fish tanks have gotten disgusting), and quality. Then last weekend I went with an old friend and we had a drink and oysters to start. They shoved us at a table under the stairs I bumped my head getting up from (it’s really shoved in there with no overhead room, it didn’t hurt just a bad seat). The oysters were the worst I’ve ever had and I’m pretty forgiving of seafood in Alberta. They never should have been served to anyone they were that bad (I just threw the last few in the bucket). I just got up and asked for my tab at the bar and we went elsewhere to eat. I was genuinely embarrassed Id recommended the place.
The very freshest seafood in the city bar none. Black Pearl is in a little hole in the wall on the vibrant 104 Street in Edmonton. There are other restaurants in the city that can do up fancy dishes with sauces and with varying presentations. But for just fresh seafood on a plate, Black Pearl is head and shoulders above all other seafood establishments. The food is extremely fresh and you can taste the quality.
The space is very hip. It's very chic but also blends elements of an eatery you might find in the Maritimes. There are two floors to this space so don't let the small footprint from outside fool you.
The service is incredible. The servers are extremely helpful and kind.
One note. The food is VERY EXPENSIVE. But you pay for what you get. And to be privy to such incredible seafood on the prairies is very special warranting the prices.
