Had been going there for years but the waitress treated us terrible this time. Made us feel very unwelcome. Waited an hour and still didn’t take our order. Kept saying that they were short staff but it appeared she was going out of her way to make a point. We all were going there independently but won’t be back?

Great little diner that's always open. Food has good variation, tasty and reasonably priced. Staff could be increased as the wait times is substantial

Our server was good, friendly, but the eggs Benny was not good the hashbrowns were triple deep-fried, so dry no potato inside.

The service here lacks when they are busy. Not very accommodating to those with small children. We waited long to get seated, long for our drinks, and long for our server to take our order. We kept getting told "shouldn't be too long, " and it was entirely too long. However, the breakfast was pretty good (best hollandaise sauce I've ever had), the homestyle potatoes weren't fully cooked, disappointing as they had good flavor. I really wanted to like it here as I love the old diner vibes and the hustle and bustle of a good food joint. It's obvious this place does something right to be so busy, perhaps it was an off day for them, but I was disappointed with the service and didn't feel very welcome.

The food is cheap and you get what you pay for. This place is a landmark and treat to visit. If you have high expectations of service or food, you will be disappointed. If you accept it for what it is (a greasy spoon truck stop), you will be charmed.

Came for the cowboy breakfast, they did not give me beans which is included in the breakfast and when I told the waitress she said the beans are complimentary and started arguing with me. Very bad customer service. DO NOT GO HERE

I usually love eating here, but today around 145-245pm or so, my friend from out of town and I were visiting and had a negative experience.

The waitress asked me how I wanted my 6oz steak and I said medium rare, I also asked for an additional egg. She asked me how I want my eggs, I asked for poached and she said they cannot do poached because they will take too long if they mess up in the kitchen.

We get our food, and my steak was essentially so well done it was like a burger patty. Also no side egg that I ordered.

We weren’t checked up on until the end of the meal, snd we had to get our own ketchup from the hostess stand ourselves.

At the end of the meal, the waitress rushed us to pay and ignored me when I answered her question how my meal was, citing the mistakes, she ignored me like I wasn’t there.

She then proceeded to complain about how many customers there were these last five days. Her words were “the customers keep coming in, like “FLIES”. It was pretty gross and insulting.

She did say she was in need of a day off after several days of work, but I found the conduct wholly disrespectful. The restaurant was not even full at the time.

I love Truckstop diner but this staff member should maybe watch what they say and how they act if they want the “flies” to come back and spend money. I felt embarrassed for my friend.

The waitress seemed to assume we were there for stampede when really we were there for what has usually been a positive experience in the past.

"RRR" An authentic dinner.
Good food and service. A Calgary favorite since 1956 and a destination spot for any occasion. We always stage our trip to the zoo from here, catch up with friends for coffee, or just come to enjoy with no fuss. A family favorite with the train overhead, jutebox, mile -high lemon pie and coffee - A must to experience and enjoy!

What an amazing breakfast.

Is reprehensible. Headed to Reds diner

We used to love this place. Our last few visits have been disgusting. Burnt old food with 0 flavor. Worst of all our waitress was the rudest person I've even had to deal with. She had 0 people skills and obviously didn't want us there. We had to go find napkins on our own. If we asked for anything she would drop it on the table or give it to a person at our table that didn't order it. Very unpleasant woman and now horrible food. We will be finding a new place to call our favorite.

I really enjoy this diner. Great service. Food is priced really well. I have never ordered something that wasn't great.
15 October 2021 22:18
I never get tired of this place. The atmosphere is what keeps you coming back. The pink walls, mini juke boxes and the ceiling trains are just the beginning. Love all the waitresses never had bad service. The flapper pie is everything it is SO SO good. LOVE this place, everyone needs to experience it!

One of my favorite restaurants in the city! The food is always fresh and hot. The wait staff is always friendly and makes you feel welcome. I love the coffee and milkshakes! Great food and awesome desserts!

Good place to go get some basic food.i used to eat here 25 years ago when i lived in Calgary and decided to stop and see what it was like.i was happy to see it was very much the same with the train still running around the track near the ceiling.good memories and it was still a good meal for a reasonable price.could do some upgrades to place but i will eat here again

We absolutely love this diner! They're certainly busy, and there is a bit of a wait, but our waitress was absolutely amazing and did a phenomenal job especially considering she was taking care of so many tables. Food is always great and we will be definitely be back!

Such a Calgary institution! Thanks Blackfoot and thanks for the 5 star service on a busy stampede Sunday morning Donna. You are a heck of a waitress!

This gem has been hiding under my nose for forever. Great value, great service and homemade food. Loved that they used real turkey in the clubhouse. I'll be a regular now.

Breakfasts are always hearty and filling. The staff are friendly and attentive. Retro diner look with model trains! Tons of parking even for the biggest vehicles.
26 July 2021 7:48
Been here lots today was a huge disappointment.sat and waited to be served for at least 20 minutes before anyone showed up and then Waitress was beyond rude. Older lady. Pop was previously frozen tasted horrible. Fries tasted like fish. Took a long time for meal to come out all we order was a sandwich and fries and the fries were lukewarm as was the gravy. Very very disappointed.

Best truck stop we've been to, the staff are friendly, it feels really homey, and the food is old school, in a good way. It's refreshing to see such a place still in operation. Very good pricing as well.

Cozy and nostalgic! All frontline staff were amazing and very cheerful.

I love that they’re open 24hours serving hot and delicious foods. When all the downtown diners were full and had long queue waiting times, I decided to try the Blackfoot diner.

The place obviously look like a diner meant for truck drivers that are either visiting the city or just passing through. It looks old and furnitures were a bit outdated. But it adds a feeling of nostalgia and the presence of old jukebox, moving toy train by the ceiling and vintage music made my whole experience even better.

I ordered the Working Man’s breakfast which consists of toasts, two eggs, 3 sausages and one large pancake. All of these just for $9.95! I know their diner is not ‘Instagram-able’ but they have great food and great place to hangout with friends, family or just chill all by yourself.

Definitely going back here with my family next time.

Such a fun little diner, our son really enjoyed watching the train, the coffee is really good and the food is what youd expect for a truckstop. Huge portions and the waitress calls you hun. So fun!

I had heard about this place offering a wonderful breakfast so thought I would try it out. Ordered the "Hungry Man Breakfast", which is pictured. It came fairly quickly, tasted wonderful and I would highly recommend it if you are hungry! The servers were very attentive, friendly, and clearly experienced. Coffee was refilled several times without having to ask. The decor is the place is getting dated, tables as you see in the image are clearly worn down, but the decor isn't why you visit this diner - it's the food and service, which are both top notch. The clientele is mostly male/truck drivers. If I ever need a hearty breakfast again, I'll be sure to return. With 15% tip, came to $20.01 all in. Highly recommended.

BEST DINER IN CALGARY! Classic truck stop diner. Large portions, cheap prices. Nothing fancy. Clean and covid friendly. Unique decor. Extremely friendly waitresses. Server Marla is very nice and a great conversationalist. Looking forward to returning!

This place is a relic of the past, in a good way. Good spot for no frills diner food in a very laid back setting. Friendly and personable service.
11 January 2021 17:48
An old time Blackfoot landmark. It could use some renos but in away the dated look gives it some nostalgic charm. Classic truckstop meals (nothing fancy but reliable old fashioned burgers, soups, beef dips, etc). My rule: all meals here must end with at least 1 slice of their fantastic pie topped with mile high meringue. I'm always too full to eat the pie there but I oddly always find room once I get home. Mostly booth seating with retro look counter seats at the front. If you're lucky you'll get to see the little train run along it's track suspended from the ceiling looping throughout the restaurant. The ladies serving you are fast and efficient. Lots of parking available, even for the semi drivers, lucky us regular people are welcome here too!:)

Went for supper tonight. Had liver and onions everything was delicious and their prices are awesome!
06 January 2021 21:33
This landmark Calgary restaurant used to be great and the service still is but the now the food is mediocre and some (not all) of the portions are very small.

People go for the retro decor, icluding a recently expanded model railroad suspended below the ceiling. I'm a foody though, so I have one main priority when it comes to restaurants. Kids and the nostalgic will rightly give this place four or five stars.

They deserve a solid three stars *even from a snibby foody) because prices are still very economical and it is the only 'truck stop'* between Barlow and 50th Street or Foothills Industrial Park where one has room to park a big rig.or even uncouple a B-train. There is nothing like it nearby.

*No showers, no driver's lounge. Nearby gas station is not a cardlock and a separate business but otherwise very trucker-friendly with free overnight parking and a small gift shop. Goto the Barlow Trail.and 32nd Ave NE Husky truckstop if you need those amenities (registration required) or 50th Ave SE.

I’ve dedicated my entire Instagram to just sharing photos of people eating the flapper pie, that’s how good it is.

Good parking. Decent food at a fair price.
Once you walk through the doors it is like you stepped back in time
26 November 2020 20:48
I've been going here since I was 5 years old. My grandma lived across the street.

Progressivly been getting worse and worse. Today my salad had moldly tomatoes and our roast beef was greenish a was so old I instantly spat it out and gagged. Still have the taste of rotten meat in my mouth. I write this to prevent people from getting seriously ill.

Never going back.

One of the best breakfast spot in town! Simple and great, nothing too fancy. Probably the place that is most affordable in the city too!
03 November 2020 17:14
The service was fast, polite and amazing food. The trains that are hanging on the ceiling are really fun. My kid loved to stare at the trains as they passed by while we ate.
All day breakfast.mmmm fantastic. Will go here again, hopefully soon.

My family has been going to the blackfoot truckstop for over 30 years now. I Remember dinners with my dad and grandfather In here. Now my bestfriends and me bring our kids here. The history is only a small peice of the restaurant I love most. From the amazing food, the unique decor, the homey atmosphere, or the amazing people.

It all is part of what makes the Blackfoot diner so special. It really does feel like a second home. Oh and they have the best French onion soup I have ever tasted in my entire life.
