Very dirty atmosphere didn’t feel comfortable eating the food! All I could picture is how many bugs and mess could be in their kitchen considering how dirty up front is. EXTREMELY RUDE lady was working! She waved her arms and pointed and grunted like some sort of rabid feral animal!

There are so many menus, it's hard to choose if you're not familiar with Chinese food. The amount was really good, and among the menus I ordered, the fried eggplant was the most delicious.

Chinese food is average to just slightly above average. However, the prices are ridiculous and insanely overpriced. On top of that, ever since CBC published the news article on VISA and Mastercard class action lawsuit loss against the merchant's claim on interbank fees, Bobby Choa immediately started charging 3% for using credit card payments. It's like any restaurants or businesses that makes their customers pay extra fees to cover their cost of doing business expenses does not know how to run their business in the first place but want to make more profit by passing on more fees to the customer. Obviously the credit card fees is an actual business cost and is an expense that can be written off to counter the business's actual gross earnings, which can be used to reduce their taxes in the end. Yet, businesses like these don't really think about the customers and think more about cutting costs and maximizing profits. It's like if they think that their prices aren't high enough already, add that extra cost to the menus and bury that cost. It's so petty to pass on these extra cost of business to the customer when their prices are ridiculously high anyway.

Ordered peking duck, noodle dish and fish, 4/6 adults are down with food poisoning the next day.

Rough experience.

The most difficult is parking, Mac's and liquor store stalls not allowed to use, slow, pricey, small dishes. Avoid weekends & rush hrs, have to park on streets further away.

Metal wire in food, looks like it’s from the wire scrub for cleaning pans, long and sharp, dangerous if swallowed. At least I know they’ve cleaned the wok

5 stars dim sum experience today, I was surprised that no reservation was necessary but my call ahead booked us a choice large table by the window. Our menu highlights today included salt and pepper pork chops, deep fried BBQ pork pastries, beef chow fun, and shrimp dumpies. Staff was just awesome and friendly, got us everything we needed. The flavours and textures and serving temperatures were all on point, and this Edgemont location was such a win being able to avoid driving and parking downtown. Would absolutely recommend the dim sum here!

Dishes are tasty, classic buffet dish style, my family and asian friends like to go to this place.

Waiting during this time of fathers day celebration but we manage to have a room for large group and as always service and food were great. We always go to this place for most of our celebrations.

Went for an early dinner. Was quick to get in because it wasn’t busy. Food was pretty good and they were quick to bring the food.

Absolutely horrid, every surface had some type of grease or dirty marks. Dishes don't come out all at once, got our first 2 relatively quickly but took them an extra hour to get 3 dishes out, which all 3 dishes were the most simplistic to make

One of the best Chinese restaurants in Calgary and Edmonton! We live in Edmonton and missed there a lot. Most of our Chinese friends from high school are in Calgary, and every time we backed to Calgary to celebrate new born babies of my friends, they chose Bobby Chao to hold the event because we all love there and it worth our 3 hours' driving from Edmonton to Calgary plus 40mins driving from our parents' place to the restaurant. I'm so glad that most of my favorite restaurants in Calgary survived from covid including Bobby Chao, not like in Edmonton. I'm seriously considering to move back to Calgary now.

Asked to use the bathroom, they said it’s for customers only so I said okay I’ll buy something. To which they responded you can’t buy that here…. Super rude employees.

Literally the best chinese food in the city. The ginger beef is totally awesome. Great selection and reasonable prices.
Parking can be a challenge.

RAW minced pork dumplings were served and charged you double when they took them back to cook and served you the cooked again. Waitress was extremely rude and denied about food served raw. Very bad service, this is the worst restaurant in town. Wonder why this is still in business, should be out of business in no time. I am forced to give at least one star here, I would definitely give no star and definitely would never go back. Eat at your own risk.

Pecking duck is so good but very hectic when meal time. Wait for a long time to get the food. We found that most people came to pick up the food.

Beware of the Asian ladies that work here. They will verbally abuse you for any negative comments you make. I'm Chinese and I'm well aware of the culture but these ladies are just full on rude. If you criticize their duck, they criticize your whole family. What kind of restaurant is this?

Ordered skipthedishes from Bobby's several times now and haven't been disappointed.where else in the city or the NW can you have both Peking Duck and Dim Sum for dinner?:) :) :)

A great Chinese restaurant in the NW. I highly recommend the duck with hoisin and skins. It's like the best Chinese duck taco you will ever have. The salt and pepper squid, fried rice and sweet & sour pork were all delicious. I would definitely go back again and it really helped having a great group of family and friends navigate the menu and teach me some good Chinese dining etiquette. Hou sik

The first few times we ate at Bobby Chao's the food was really delicious. However, we have noticed it has been sub par lately. Actually really disappointing. Today we ordered for delivery, Seafood noodles, and it had 3 shrimp, chicken and char sui in it! That is definitely not the seafood noodles we have previously had from them. My hubby called to complain and they just asked if it was still good, and he had to explain that pork and chicken are not considered seafood. We also ordered stir fried garlic noodles. Not a trace of garlic, when we spoke to the restaurant, they advise they ALWAYS go light on the garlic. What? It was just mixed vegetables, for 14.99! Highway robbery! This is not the same quality or care that we had experienced before. They would do nothing to correct their mistakes and just basically said, too bad. We will be finding another Chinese food restaurant nearby that actually cares that they give you what you have ordered and paid for. Really, really terrible customer service. The restaurant will most likely not care enough to respond.time to move on.

Love the dim sum there, but we pre-ordered the food through door-dash at 9: 00 in the morning, waited for 2 hours and then the restaurant canceled the order on us for no reason, not happy with it.

When one spends money on takeout food, one expects some level of quality. The Halibut dish we just recieved seems like it was cooked yesterday and reheated today. It has a deep fried crust that is soft and chewy, rather than crispy. Did this restaurant simply microwave yesterday's leftovers? It is really sad how Chinese restaurants quality have gone in the dumper since the pandemic. Bobby Choa is one of those restaurants that has really went down hill. Cook fresh food, or stop serving food at all.

Plus, your service sucks. We were repeat customers, but there is no damn way that we will continue. The last time I picked up food from you, the door service was terrible. The English comprehension is terrible. The Cantonese is terrible. Make better food and hire better servers. I don't recommend anyone eat here.

The receptionist should be polite not just against the clients but for delivery drivers as well!

Average to good but really expensive. The BBQ pork pastry tasted a day old and reheated. The best part was the fried noodles and crispy pork chops. I feel really heavy afterwards. Must be very oily but delicious. $120 for 4 people. Pricy pricy. Would I go back? No.

Absolutely terrible service. Been coming here for 10+ years since we moved to the area. While the service has always been mediocre, the food is alright and we accept this as this is one of the only casual Chinese eateries in the area.

After today's experience, absolutely no more. I'll drive another 15 minutes to go to a place where staff can show basic respect. First of all, we came at 3pm on a Tuesday, there were no customers but ourselves. We made a menu decision quickly (BBQ pork with vermicelli noodles), and the server wouldn't come in a timely manner (in fact, they avoided eye contact and turned their backs on us). When she finally came, and we ordered, she promptly responded in broken language something about no noodles and no soup. It didn't make any sense. So I switched to Cantonese, she does not speak Cantonese so she brought another staff who did speak Cantonese. Again, nonsense was said. I speak 3-4 languages - this is far from a language issue, it's the lack of willingness to communicate. Maybe smile? And make eye contact? Don't turn your back on customers?

In any case, we ordered, and understandably my husband and I are in a bad mood on top of being hungry. We decided to stay, until the 3 staff loudly spoke in Mandarin something about noodles and soup - it was borderline arguing. We sensed that it was about our very basic order. That did it for us, the atmosphere was absolutely horrendous, so we left. That was when the servers attitude changed from ice cold to overly apologetic - too little too late.

It certainly does not seem like they're here to do business. Definitely sad to not come back to Bobby Chao's again.

We visited this restaurant twice before, and each time we had some unpleasant experiences (hair on BBQ duck & strong chemical smell and taste of deep fried taro dumplings. We asked about the wired taste when paying, two other staff came over and argued with us using very high pitched voice, offering no apology, replacement or refund. After we paid and tipped, one of them said another customer complained about the same issue the day before. Oh well, they knew the problem from the beginning, but still chose to argue aggressively and to sever problematic, no so fresh food.)

Not have learned anything from our past visits and trusted too blindly the overly positive reviews, we went there for the third time and ordered Peking duck 3 courses. Guess what, it was the same disappointing experience. The duck was sliced too thick and meat was dry. The fried rice and shredded duck were dry too. If the taste is a subjective judgment, then having DUCK HAIR and HUMAN HAIR in the dish is totally not acceptable! So disgusting!

We will NOT return to this place ever again. There are way better Chinese restaurants and Peking ducks in town.

Called to order Peking duck take out. Receptionist was rude and impolite. Worst Peking duck I’ve ever had. I literally threw up on the first bite cuz the duck had a REALLY strong fishy smell.wouldn’t recommend to any of my friend.

Worst customer service of all asian restaurants in NW.the person that handles the phone and order is very rude and not willing to help customers at all.why do i have to return if there're tons of good asian restaurants in NW that offer good food and also friendly services?

Good food, went on Christmas Eve, busy but not too bad. They forgot my BBQ pork. Had to go all the way back to get it, but they made up for it by giving me a free salt n pepper squid. I will be going back food is really good.

Reasonably priced. Its Dim Sum was good, but pork belly was unfortunately less so. Would recommend Dim Sum only.

Their food is not consistent, sometimes pretty good and other times can be pretty bad. Customer service is almost non existent. Used to go here a lot because it was close to my house and is still close to where my parents live.

Do not use skipthedishes for ordering from them. They will screw up or ignore your order, blame skipthedishes, and offer you nothing in return. Our food took over 3 hours and multiple phone calls before it was delivered. The woman on the phone literally didn't even apologize.

This has happened more than once. If you can't fulfill the orders don't advertise on the service.

Having been to Bobby Chao's before and being very happy with the service, I decided to order on Christmas Eve. BIG MISTAKE. I phoned in an order at 4pm Thursday Dec 24,2020 & was told it would be ready in about 40 minutes. Upon arriving at 4: 35pm, paying (including a 15% tip) I proceeded to wait for over 1/2 an hour with no order in sight. When I arrived there were about 5 people waiting, now there were over 25 in a small waiting area (during a pandemic), all waiting for their orders as well. After waiting for 40 minutes, I approached the counter & told the staff member I wasn't waiting any longer & wanted a refund. They started running around & said "oh we are just waiting for the rice" another 10 minutes passed & I still had no dinner & no refund when out comes my order. I took it because I was hungry & didn't want to wait somewhere else. After a short drive home I opened the order & the only thing hot was the rice. There were food orders sitting on tables all in reach of anyone (waiting for delivery) that sat there the entire time I waited. A few people that came in later were refusing to pay until their orders came out because they wouldn't be held hostage the way I was. NO STARS FOR THIS APPALLING SERVICE. An addition to the saga. At 8: 10 pm someone from Bobby Chao's phoned me to see if I received my order? I told her of my previous issue & asked if she was calling to make it right & she said NO. When I advised her we would never return to their business, she said ok & hung up.

If you want quality Chinese food with affordable prices, come here. Foods were always fresh and delicious when I go pick up or during limited dine in.

If you're going to nitpick on deliveries, go to your big chains. This is a small local restaurant without a large volume. The driver often ignore the orders in this area of nw because it's out of the way.

Garbage service. Servers are not trained, Don't even care if you have water or not. Not commenting about the food. But the people are garbage.

Avoid this place at all costs! Never in my life have I been so racially profiled and mistreated with rude, crude and "you're not welcome here" attitude. It's a run down little joint on the pricey side. The fresh level of food is questionable. Have been sick before after eating here. Service is poor if you don't speak Chinese. Stay away from the pho. It's low grade dog food. This place is a 0 star. I CAN'T STRESS ENOUGH, AVOID THIS PLACE. AND SHAME ON SANDY FOR DISCRIMINATION AGAINST PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT CHINESE.

Their roast duck is awesome. Probably the best roast duck I've had in my life. Other dishes are delicious and affordable. A good to go place when I'm in this area

Like the food is okay, BUT SERVICE IS SO FKING BAD. Didnt even get water refill. Honestly if we didnt ask the server to stop, they would pass our table and go to the other tables.when we finished all our food. 如果你们不介意他们不给倒水也从来不来你桌 就来吃，菜挺好，这个星是给后厨的。服务员牛逼坏了 一个个从桌子旁边走过 看到我们都吃完了 啥也不干就当没看到走了 太tm牛逼

The food was good but the service was too slow.the staff always forgot serving the dish we ordered.

The wait is a bit longer for dim sum but the food was tasty when it arrived. Nice to have all day dim sum

Their black bean sauce beef was really good, but spicy (salty?), but it’s good. Fast service, decently clean washroom, decently friendly staff. Would like to go back again.

The workers don’t speak English, so you can’t order what you want, I told the lady I want a table for 2 people she didn’t know what 2 meant, explain to me how you can run a restaurant where people don’t speak English¿

Visited restaurant this afternoon on the Vietnamese food store side, I found a table wait for fifteen minutes, found out no sever came to service me. In the store there were 3 servers, they seemed do not care. No matter how good the food is, the service are the one caused the problem.

The dim sum dishes are ok. But be aware, during 11am-2pm, they’re too busy to take care of the takeaway service. You’ll have to wait a very long time, and there is no seat for you.
