Straight up incredible. Huge facility, top of line walls and equipment.

As an intermediate west coast climber, most of the climbs in AB are rated pretty generously allowing new and intermediate climbers to conquer the majority of the climbs. I love it cause it gives you access to exploring the entire setup.

My favourite gym for sure.

First time visiting. Gym was clean, decent settings. Complete lack of a safety orientation is off putting. Staff completely disengaged and preoccupied with texting.

Asked for a safety check for top roping and was told our group couldn't be seen to be discussing different ways to tie knots or practicing in any way. As such, we were not able to have a safety check but only able to use the auto belay. (absolutely zero explanation on how to use those safely from staff)

As the staff really weren't engaged in anything we were doing otherwise, I am not really sure why a discussion on ways things could be done was such critical failure in our day.

Our group has climbed a fair amount in the past so we generally know climbing safety rules but someone with no experience could get seriously hurt here.

Do better, I hope that this was a one off and not your normally way you operate.

This is such a great spot for bouldering! I got a 1 year membership at this location earlier this year. The facility is clean, and the walls get reset on a bi-weekly schedule. The staff are wonderful people and so is everyone that comes by for some bouldering. They also host lady nights, and house music nights. Really good spot located on Macleod trail, close by Bulk Barn and Memory express.

I don't have a lot of experience, but I wasn't made to feel that way by staff or patrons. I don't know how most of these places are run, but I hope it's like this.

What can I say. I love this place. It’s my sanctuary, my safe space, and my second home. Everyone here is so friendly and welcoming. The facility is great for climbing and fitness…not to mention thirst quenching needs. The setting is top notch, too.

Overall a great climbing gym, while it is older looking it is still in great shape and has everything you would need to have a good climbing sesh. Great walls with lots of variety of problems, and good over and underhang wall as well. Clean bathrooms and lots of equipment if you need a gym (for a climbing gym). Has a gift shop and also a coffee bar.

Great bouldering routes and friendly staff! Sometimes you even get to see cute dogs walking about. Only complaint is the music. A lot of the time it's vulgar and inappropriate. I wanted to invite my little cousins, but was worried about the music that would be playing.

Such a great place to get my introduction to climbing, very friendly staff and climbers, lots of different routes to climb and rotated on a regular basis. Super affordable compared to other gyms, with a very decent area for strength training and cardio. To top it off they have a nice little cafe and it’s very satisfying to have a coffee and watch others climb while I cool down. Couldn’t recommend enough and I bring a friend here with my monthly guest day pass as often as I can

My favorite place to go climbing in Calgary. The setting is awesome and the holds are nice. The drop in fee is relatively cheaper than the other facilities in Calgary, and the community is great!

One of my favourite climbing gyms in Calgary. Lots of variety in terms of difficulty and climbing styles. Moon board and small gym available. Fun atmosphere. My husband says the coffee there is really good too.

Honestly I'm pretty sure this is the best place to Boulder in Calgary. Great varied sets. Lots of different shaped walls. Busy of course but great job. Open another!

Went when it was packed still a great time, good layout, interesting climbs. They had a whole slabby wall which I loved. Great prices compared to Van or Toronto.

Very dynamic gym, a lot of climbs start very high up the wall or begin with campusing. I would not say it’s a great gym for beginners, or those who want to develop more static skills. I was disappointed in the slab area and I felt that there was a lot of unused space on the walls.

I still had a lot of fun, I will likely go back, but I would not expect to become a well rounded climber at this gym.

Great climbing gym in the competitive Calgary climbing scene. Fun route setting with very diverse terrain (overhung, slab, mix). They have a decent spray wall, a 2019 setup Moonboard, a circuit wall, and campus board. The training space is good and has all the equipment you need to train. Above all, the climbing community is full of stoked happy people and the music is awesome. I couldnt help having a little boogie in between my sets.

Fun little gym, very friendly and helpful staff, some interesting route setting that gave me a different experience from my usual gyms. Worth checking out!

Best gym around - blows CCC out of the water. I love how approachable the staff is, I’ve made many friends here. It is a great community and the creative setting is awesome- not your boring boulders over and over.
If it’s busy, come at a different time. If the music is off putting, wear headphones. I also enjoy how there are less children running around there is vs. CCC.

Best climbing gym I've been to. The routes are always fun and the setters are creative, even with the v2 and under problems which you dont always see. The gym is always clean, and there is rarely a shortage of problems.new routes are also set weekly so stuff doesnt get old very fast. Music taste kinda sucks tho sometimes, not gonna lie lol. No real complaints, and nothing but praise for this place

Smelly, small, poor hvac, distracted staff, water damaged floors, poor lighting. Run down compared to Calgary Climbing Centre gyms and around the same price.

Awesome place. There was a mix-up with payment and the people at the front helped me out big time. Regular resets, great training area, friendly staff. Highly recommend.

Great bouldering gym with very helpful staff and overall a great community. Majority of people are more than willing to help and keep the gym positive. Extremely excited for the new location as well!

Great environment for meeting people who are into bouldering. The building isn't too big, so the crash mats are a bit smaller than what I'm used to.

Some of the smaller holds are full of chalk, which makes it hard to differentiate between gray or white.

Overall, I had a great time! There were a diverse range of climbers, so it was super easy to start a convo!

Bolder climbing community is the best example of what a climbing gym should be. The inclusive feeling happens the moment you walk in, whether your a beginner or advanced climber.you will be cheered on regardless of what you climb.

I have climbed for almost 2 decades and have experienced many gyms across Canada and the USA and this is the place that sets the bar for all other gyms to strive for.

The setting is fantastic and challenging, its not commercial setting and it shows.it has aesthetic appeal, challenges the mind, and demonstrates their passion for pushing climbing in all directions.

Bolder is a community above all else, that welcomes everyone and will spark the desire to take up climbing, or push it to that next level.

Great staff, regular route resets, and they have done lots of small upgrades since it opened. Miss the caves and overhangs from the Crux, but the slab makes for interesting climbing. So nice to have a dedicated bolder gym in Calgary!

An excellent place to do some climbing. As the name might suggest, this place is bouldering only (no ropes necessary!). If it's your first time they have rental shoes and easy areas. If you're a seasoned climber, they have tons of advanced routes as well as a moon board.

Kids are welcomed with an adult counterpart. One of the only family-friendly climbing gyms around - they even have rental shoes for 2yr+!

The staff is great and the vibe here is super laid back.

Definitely my favourite place to climb in Calgary. A pretty fun climbing gym though it’s fairly expensive as you don’t save much with the student pricing, though similar to most Calgary gyms. Lot’s of variety.

Only negative is the music choice, they only play heavier rap music which isn't appropriate for the many younger kids / teens climbing

The staff is very friendly, and the facilities are nice. However the route setting is incredibly inconsistent from V1 to V3. It makes it hard to see progress in climbing, which takes away motivation, and may also turn away newer climbers.

Great climbing gym, good but small weights area, and yummy grilled cheese. Not quite as good as Rock Jungle up in Edmonton but I haven't tried others in Calgary yet to collate locally. Gets insanely busy on week nights and late Sundays

Loved the vibe of this facility. Been climbing before but never to this guy, wanted something to do during my time in Calgary. Very clean space, really nice atmosphere with a lot of different types of climbs available. Americano I got afterwards was also great.

Staff are friendly and welcoming. Just wish they would turn on the heat. It’s always freezing, below any comfort level. And brushing the holds regularly would ensure a more enjoyable climb for clients. This should be done by the facility not by clients mid-workout. Overall, the place has a good vibe.

Absolutely fell in love with this place. Consistent route changes, unique sets, and a competitive yet very welcoming atmosphere. Everyone is there to have a good time and climb.

Really enjoy the setting at Bolder. The routes are varied in style and difficulty. Very helpful and friendly staff and climber community. However, I really found the music off-putting. While I accept that taste in music is subjective, the volume it was being played at made it impossible to ignore. Also, as another reviewer has commented, the lyrics of the songs were definitely not kid-friendly!

Love, love, love bolder. Good vibes, fun climbs and good coffee. Last star was lost because the music is pretty cringe.definitely suburban kids listening to "gangsta rap" music. Apart from that, really amazing space.

Grades felt harder than what I'm used to, but the problems are pretty fun (and not comp-style). Slab wall is quite unique for a bouldering gym. Good selection of problems under V7, also has a moonboard.

Great climbing gym! Super chill vibes with darker ambience and hip hop beats blasting. Lots of crushers crushing.

Problem setting is super fun and tons of variety. Decent training area.

Wish there was a bit more overhang but the trade-off is you get more slab.

Overall, a boulder lover's dream. Highly recommend!

This facility is fantastic. The route-setters are incredible so there are an equal amount of problems of the same V-grade; all consistently fun and creative. There is a Moonboard, slab wall, overhung wall, campus board and squat rack with weights. The employees are all friendly, they take care of you and are generous to guests that you bring. The vibe is great too with R&B, Hip Hop, Rap and Lo-Fi playing. Definitely check this place out, easily the best place for bouldering in the city.

90s hip-hop and rock climbing are a great combo! Large variety of routes and plenty of options for all skill levels.

I brought my daughter here and we really enjoyed ourselves! Very clean and open space. Inviting and friendly people! Jordan was very helpful with setting us up and explaining all the rules. Can’t wait to go again!

Favourite climbing gym by far! The owners are amazing and frequently bring their cute dog too! The vibe in this place is so homey and welcoming! Music is always fantastic and not to mention the cute little cafe. They also reset frequently enough so you can really work on some problems but still have new things to climb!

Bolder is one of the best climbing spots in the city. Routes for all levels, from beginner to expert. The community has been quite welcoming for a relative newbie and I'd hope others find the same experience. Unique events like DJ nights and bouldering leagues make each visit different and exciting.

Absolutely phenomenal in every possible aspect. Staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, prices are very fair (plus they have a morning and night matinee price of $11 before noon and after 9pm) as well as benefits for buying a pass such as free access to all their classes and cooldown/stretching sessions, as well as the ability to bring a friend who hasn't been for free once per month. They maintain their holds very well, they are never slick or slimy, new routes are set each week on one of their 10ish walls and the holds are always fresh when they go up. They use an actual recognized rating system (V/Vermin Scale) and have routes for any skill level, from VB to V12+, from dynamic moves to slab to crimps and everything in between, they have a moon board circuit wall, multiple hangboard as well as exercise and stretching equipment as well as a shower so you can stop in on your lunch break without your coworkers hating you for it. I also believe tuesday morning they have a playpen set up for toddlers and such. Dont know much about that though as I do not have children, but they definitely welcome you to bring them. They have great food, craft beer and incredible coffee as well. Props to the Bolder owners and staff for running what is undeniably the best place to boulder in Calgary, by far.

I have just been getting back into climbing. This place is great. It is clean, spacious and has lots of problems for climbers of all levels. The atmosphere creates one of the nicest climbing gyms I have been to.

I love Bolder! The coffee is great, the staff are friendly and the tunes are always dank. Lots of selection for routes especially if you are a season bouldering enthusiast. Plus they even have beer for when you're done (but only once you're done.) What more could you ask for?

Great climbing variety and very trendy space, the deal if you come before noon on week days is also awesome.

Only concern is the first time I came they were playing extremely crass music that included racial slurs. Second time music was totally fine though.

Overall excellent place to climb and I’d recommend checking it out.

Bolder is a special place. The name says "Community", and that is the perfect way to describe this place. Bolder has something for everyone, and makes it easy to get into climbing. All you need are shoes & chalk. For experienced climbers, routes are reset often and feature everything: super crimpy, overhangs, dynos etc. There is a gym at the back for extra work, and coffee+food+drinks at the bar up front. You have to try Bolder, so grab a few friends and check it out.

The facility is really nice, the routes are good, and they serve nice snacks and locally roasted coffee. There's a single rack for anyone interested in lifting weights.

The front desk is super friendly, boulder problems get changed out constantly, problems are well set and mats are great. Music is a bit loud for my taste because I'd personally like the ability to be able to hear my own music through my earbuds, but that's pretty much an issue at every climbing wall.

Great gym. Love the atmosphere and vibe. Great training wall. Lots of slab climbing, unusual for a bouldering gym and really nice change. Interesting route setting, grades a bit on the easy side. Small weight area, but nice stretching area in the loft. Will go when in Calgary again for sure.

Great facility, cool vibe, awesome owners and fun problems. However, be wary of their cancellation process for reoccurring memberships. As of now, there are some terms and conditions that are easy to miss that could make cancelling difficult.

Amazing atmosphere and creative route setting. I love that they have a special time weekly for parents to bring young children.

The first time I was bouldering was there and I loved it. Employees and customers are super friendly, they offered me a free coffee when it was my birthday which I found was sweet. Only thing is that without a car it’s not that easy to get there but I guess it’s not the only place in this situation in Calgary.

Great routes set up - always a fun and challenging experience every time I go. Definitely check out Bolder Beats if you have a chance! Super chill music and its awesome to watch what others are doing while resting for your next send!
