Bon Ton Bakery

I've been a happy bread customer here for a while, but the last loaf I bought was significantly smaller than it was in the past - I'd estimate about 25% to 30% smaller for the same price. The slices close to the end are now so short I have to fish them out of my toaster with thongs, which definitely wasn't the case before.

Bon Ton's never been cheap but the quality and service had made it worth it. I get these are tough times, but this was a little too much shrinkflation for me.

Ordered online and the delivery exceeded my expectations! Everything was super fresh, beautifully packed and so so tasty! Thank you guys so much! Love Bon Ton!

Have been here several times and tried most of the baking. It gets really busy on Saturdays, but they have a number system and you still get served reasonably quickly. Everything looks delicious, but I’ve found that most of their breads, while high quality, are mostly mediocre in the flavour department, and some items are a bit pricey.

We love their chewy olive flutes, cinnamon buns, sticky buns, beef and cheddar swirls (heated, please!) and croissants. Their coffee is delicious too.

They are also a shoppe for interesting condiments and confections, and Christmas time is a favourite for stocking stuffers and little goodies.

Worth checking out at any rate, for high quality baking and a well run little business.

It's been a few years since my last visit to Bon Ton but I was out and about and looking for something sweet. I probably should have known better when I asked for the cranberry, raisin, almond loaf sliced thick and it was too much trouble for the girl at the counter. I chalked it up to the busy long weekend so I bought the pre-sliced loaf, a half dozen cookies and a raspberry strudel. The bread was delicious if not a little thin and so were the cookies.
The strudel on the other hand, let's just say that I've had bacon sandwiches that have left me feeling less greasy. It reminded me of my shifts at Dairy Queen when I was a teenager.
Bon Ton is not a cheap place and when you throw out 50% of the order as inedible, it's too expensive to go back

Absolutely love this place. I will drive 1 hour into Edmonton just to come to this beautiful bakery. The pastries they make are absolutely amazing, every bite is like heaven and sooo many to choose from. I would handsdown reccomend this place to anyone, and the service is always very friendly.

Amazing bakery! Visited here many times in the past, sadly the last visit I was given chocolate chip cookies when I asked for oatmeal. I'll still visit again, but I was disappointed.

Everything looks delicious and also they make coffee inside. They sale different cakes, tarts, biscotis and Breads. Some of the tarts include berries and pecans. I also saw my favorite Pecan pie and almond croissant. Everything is well organized and the service is customer oriented. The location is pretty accessible. Prices are affordable and quality is pretty high. I hope they open another location in Spruce Grove or Stony Plain.

It was a great bakery with lots of sweets to choose from. My mom loves their lemon cake so much so I always buy it for her each time I visit their house during the weekend. I like the rich and perfect flavour of their sweets and I also tried their drinks available and they were good too.

Great service and amazing selection of artisan breads and pastries! I love their chocolate cake (s). All of them. Always recommend my friends to get their bread and pastries here.

I love the smell of bakery's, and this was no exception.

When I arrived, the store was not too busy, that quickly changed. This is a very popular and well know bakery so it is often busy. I should have gotten hear earlier, and I am sure the selection would have been even better.

I bought some roles and they were perfect for a trip to the park to have lupper.

Would I go again, if I am in the neighbourhood? I wouldn't hesitate to go.

If you've never tried this Bakery.here's one not to miss. There will be a lineup as it's the only artisinal Bakery in town. Get ready to treat your pallette. Hint: Bring a little bit extra money for your purchases. I absolutely loved their bread

Bought a cheese carrot cake on my husband’s birthday. Superduper delicious. I’ll recommend to every customer who wish to buy a cake on any occasion.

OMG! I am not a pie person AT ALL. I am super fussy when it comes to crust (its always tough or grainy or under seasoned and bland) But my partner is a HUGE fan of pie and for PI day I thought I would treat him to something fancy. Bon Ton, you may have just converted me! That Maple Apple PI pie of yours was the friggin' bomb! The crust was flaky and buttery and just sweet enough and the apple filling was perfect. Lightly cinnamon and no mushy apples. I will be coming by again soon to pick up another one.

This Bakery has delicious cakes, and even a flourless cake! I did ask if the flourless cake was gluten free, in which the response was "its made with almond flour", so I asked again if it was gluten free; but we were interrupted so I didn't get an answer. We tried the Lemon dome, as well as the Hazelnut Eclair. Very yummy! FIY, its probably best to order for pick up. The store is busy, and they use a numbering/Ticket system which I did not understand how to follow.

This is by far the best bakery in Edmonton and more so every staff member is so polite and welcoming its amazing, well done Bon Ton hiring manager. Excellence with a smile!

Price is decent. Staff is friendly. We tried croissant and cruffin. Both are good quality and yummy. The cruffin top is so crunchy and Moise inside. The raspberry flavoring is perfect. The croissant is massive.

Fantastic. We sampled a few different baked items (and need to try more to get a full idea of their strengths and weaknesses).

The plain croissant was so damned buttery, you could smell it throughout our kitchen, it was unbelievable. The brisket pizza bun (really just a brisket cheese bun, but whatever) was a really formidable grab-and-go item; one I'd recommend heartily. The third item that uses the same type of dough was the cinnamon ribbon: again, delicate, buttery pastry with a well balanced amount of spice and a reasonable smattering of raisins.

We also tried the gingersnap (it wasn't bad, it could maybe use a bit more ginger/spice to bite you on the front end of the tongue), the Mexican chocolate ball (the weakest item we tried- it lacked the flavor of Mexican hot-chocolate and came up short flavor wise in general), and a couple of tarts.

The lemon meringue mini tart was well executed, and the crust was first rate and not too thick. The strawberry rhubarb tart wasn't too sweet, was very rhubarb-forward (maybe slightly lacking in strawberry, but that could be a seasonal thing) but suffered from an overbearing amount of crust. Was it bad? No, not at all. Would I get it again? Maybe.

One last thing we noticed (and it's not a big fault on their part, some bakeries do this, most don't) is they didn't offer take and bake croissants. It's really nice to pop pre made/rolled croissants into the oven first thing in the morning (as Bon Ton opens at 9) and enjoy a croissant with breakfast/coffee/whatever. Again, not a huge strike against them, most bakeries don't offer this yet.

It's definitely worth a visit and a "shotgun" approach to sampling. You'll surely find something you love here, and it's awesome to have an independent bakery reinforce Edmonton's status as a food city.

This bakery is amazing! I’m Czech so the caraway rye bread is the best I have ever had! Their pastries are beautiful to look at and so delicious! My late mother always made extra trips to BonTon- it was her and my favourite, always! Thank you BonTon - you are the best!

I buy the BBQ pork buns here regularly, both the baked and steamed ones are absolutely fantastic! Excellent pricing, just remember to bring cash ;)

Huge variety and very friendly staff! The pastries were tasty, affordable and there’s plenty of options for everyone. I would have liked to see some more savory options other than bread, bagels, and buns though. Will definitely be back!

How can i ever live without the espresso chocolate croissant.the most delish thing i have ever tasted!

HAIR! I have gotten many products here before that were high quality. However in my vanilla and raspberry meringues I found a dark hair. I thought it was mine at first but then I saw that it was actually engrained within the meringue. Disappointed unfortunately. Otherwise the meringues tasted
good.

Spent $40 on a white birthday cake for my dad but unfortunately everyone agreed it was dry and tasteless. Cake wasn't good, icing wasn't good, almost tasted as if the sugar was forgotten altogether! I may still try coming back for something else, but my first impression sadly was disappointing.

Try to avoid line ups by going outside morning weekend rush hours, there is a line up by opening hours

If you haven’t been to BonTon you haven’t experienced a great bakery. Lots of baking supplies, the patisserie case is so loaded with great selections you cannot go home without something. The bread is amazing. From whole wheat and whole grains to white. Cinnamon rolls to die for. Friendly professional staff. Even with the COVID rules they’re very efficient. I don’t even mind waiting outside for a bit to get in and be safe. It’s a great bakery to visit and you should find everything you’re looking for. I recommend it to everyone.

The best bakery in Edmonton. My favorite is the black forest cake but everything tastes amazing it's hard to choose.

Always a pleasant experience. They carry a wide variety of things. A great place for shopping local. I appreciate the offering of a cookie for my 3 year old while we shopped!

We recently had the "Raspberry Passion Cake" it was so delicious that we could not stop licking the spoon the only thing that did not appeal to me was how the cake was decorated. It could have been better, thats what I think.

Bought the most pretentious black forest cake. Tastes nothing like black forest. I would have been better off at Safeway or Hong Kong Bakery. Staff was not friendly either.

Delicious bread. Pretzels are phenomenal, but they're only available on Saturdays. Prices are quite high though

My favorite bakeshop in Edmonton. There is something for every occasion and taste. Usually a line because they strictly adhere to COVID guidelines. Only go on a weekend if you must because it's often a very long line. I go on a weekday between 4: 00pm and 5: 00pm and it's a much shorter wait. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable.

Wonderful place very clean set up and a lot of treats to have only concern was the price was a little bit on the upside

A real bakery with real leavening process; that is already more than the average lame bread you get in most stores, even Cobbs. The sourdough is fantastic and the rustic loaves are just perfect, as is the caraway rye. I could go on and on. And the customer service is phenomenal. I have never had a bad experience here. Even if I have a bad day and I have to wait in line in the cold, they somehow manage to always make the day a little better.

It was an unparelled bakery experience. They not only have amazing bread, but pastires and many other sundries as well.

The customer service was top notch and we left beaming with our wonderful, baked goods.

Fantastic experience every time! Worth the drive for great bread and treats. The staff is always pleasant and helpful. One note, they're so good at what they do that you're better served ordering ahead or showing up early.

I went in today at 9: 25AM. I was at the end of the line around the building but patiently waited to be in.
I experienced what my boss was doing every time he comes on Christmas. For my 11 years working with them, we always have pastries from BON TON during the holidays. Now that he’s not able to come home due to covid 19, I have to do it for their mom.
I usually buys here also for our snack after mass service at our church before. Those old ladies knows immediately where I bought those pastries. We all love the LEMON TARTS.

Do not go here if you can't wear a mask. I was refused entry. I asked if they had a menu I could at least look at and the person who refused my entry said they weren't sure. Poor service at the front door.

Went in for the first time today and found it to be a lovely shop, has everything from breads, cakes, desserts for one and everything else in-between. Staff was lovely and very helpful. Fudgy brownie and the apple danish was very nice. Will return.

Great looking selection but I didn't find anything exceptional, except for the price. Way over priced for what I purchased. $40 for 4 single serving pastries, an order of lavash and 6 cheese buns, oh and a $2 bag. And the person helping me double charged me for my cheese buns so another 6 bucks. Will not go out of my way for the Bon Ton Bakery.

Absolutely love this bakery. I always buy my bread there. There cakes are so yummy! I love there morning glory and carrot muffins.

Not the same as before. Bought a half dozen croissants and all were hard and dry. Didn't taste like they used too. For these prices I expect a butter pillow.

Very friendly staff and amazing baked goods and breads. Also the coffee they serve on house is wonderful. Not inexpensive, but worth the money. For high end breads this is the only place I go. The fresh ginger snap cookies are a must.

Was disappointed with the service. Needed to make a quick stop to grab some pre packaged cookies. It was very busy so Grabbed what I needed from the display table and went to pay. I Was told that I needed to still grab a number for counter, order (Even though I had nothing to order) and wait till everyone else ordered their bread, buns etc. I was pressed for time, so I told her I did not have time to wait I just wanted to pay for the cookies and she told me next time to make sure I grabbed a number and waited. At this time of year, given how busy the store is there should be a way to just grab what is needed from the Koehler’s, or displays and not have to wait behind everybody else are making large orders.

Tonight I visited Bon Ton Bakery to pick up a pie. I was warmly welcomed and the staff were incredibly knowledgeable.

As a new Edmontonian, it was one of the warmest welcomes I've received since I moved here. The staff here are passionate and it really shows in their product. I will definitely be back and I HIGHLY recommend this bakery!

Great bread. Baked desserts are good, although not all of my family members agree. I appreciate all the items that are sourced through small local companies

Very pleased with my server, Peter. He was very helpful as I tried to select my purchase. Peter deserves extra credit because I always have a difficult time choosing my order!
