If swimming pool, steam room, sauna are the only places you normally use, then Bonnie Doon Leisure Centre is a great place. Not crowded, clean places, lockers are bigger. I like this place.
A gem of the city. A really nice 25m pool, steam room, and hot tub. Saunas in the change rooms. Caution, they keep this pool a little warmer than your average pool, great for bringing kids but not awesome if you’re swimming a hard workout.
Closed for a couple years and the one time we want to go of course the hot tub is closed. What was the point of years of closure? Another city of Edmonton winner.
Not a huge pool but I came specifically for lane swimming and the sauna so it was perfect. Not too busy. Only suggestion would be if there was a little clock in the sauna so you could see how long you've been in there. Very friendly staff!
Hot tub was nice and toasty last night so the boiler must be fixed. Just want to give a shout out to the facility and my swim instructor Naomi for accommodating my disability. I like how we are placed in swim groups of varied abilities and can use aids to help us improve. It feels like an inclusive and safe environment. It is easily accessible by bus or train and has disability doors. There is a sauna, steam room and hot tub and all are clean. Shout out to the City and the wonderful instructors!
It wasn't very busy. At first I thought there was a shallow end. And also a deep end separately. But it was like that. But I was fine with swimming at the pool with my Boyfriend.
Bonnie would be a great facility if everything was working. The pool and hot tub are cooler than should be because of an apparent broken boiler. The jets don't work in the hot tub.
I've been going here for years, I attended Idylwylde as a young boy In the 80s Known this pool my whole life It's never really changed That's why I keep going I recall me and my cousin swimming there and some of my friends A good place with happy times
It really pains me to have to write this, however my son has received racial discrimination from this centre. He had been taking lessons at Bonnie Doon once a week and when we voiced our concerns about racial bias, the manager there did not do anything about the situation, however decided to fail him again. In the meantime we placed our son in a mixed level class nearby and have noticed that his swimming is on par with the level above (which he should be in). We purposefully did not tell the new centre anything about our experience at Bonnie Doon, so that they would not be biased in their evaluation of his swimming skills. It has come to our attention that the manager at Boonie Doon, went behind our backs and contacted the manager at the new centre, which we believe was to cover themselves and create a further bias. This action is totally unacceptable. Our son has been swimming three times a week lately and he loves it. The manager at Bonnie Doon also tried to make out that our son is tired because quote "He swims five times a week". We will do everything to make sure that our son continues to enjoy swimming and excel at it. I do not recommend this centre.
Great facilities.very clean, superb hot tub and steam room. Excellent parking, staff very friendly. The makeover of this facility has brightened and upgraded this leisure center. A beautiful park also at this location!
Just a pool and hot amenities is just right. This is a friendly place to swim, get lessons, join an aquatic class. The place is clean and people are friendly.
If I could select zero stars I would! I've been a witness of racial bias at this pool. I completed all my swimming levels 7 years ago and know what is required for each level. I can see that there are people that are being passed even though they are consistently not following the requirements on the evaluation and there are others who are doing better and still being failed. Do not waste your hard earned money here!
Great Staff. Good pool. Sage is a Sweet coach. She was friendly and helpful. Front desk Staff is always polite and go over and above. Great friendly Atmosphere
The pool if well built, the lifeguards are terrible, all they care about is enforcing "rules" which are not shown anywhere, in fact one of the life guards kicked me out and threatened to call the cops simply because I went sideways on the rope and ignored him! If anyone at the administrative team see's this please have a talk with the lifeguard named arthur.
I never was so disrespected in my life I will never return to this pool ever again the front end Lady “Heather” was so rude and disrespectful to me i have never been treated so rudely and I will be letting friends and family know not to go to the Bonnie doon pool Ever!
Can't book a time to swim for weeks because they are all reserved. Went to see if I could go in for a swim but despite empty lanes I couldnt go. New system needs to be worked out.
Nice pool. Friendly staff. However the boiler was broken today and the water was cooler. And the showers were very cold. They could have told us at the front desk desk or by the pool. They knew. A bit lacking in customer service.
Staff is very helpful and friendly, and the facilities are very well maintained. They do not have a gym or currently sell buspasses, but those things are available at other facilities. I especially like their steam room and how much lane swim time they have.
I like this pool, salt water and its warm. Every one here was very friendly. Only reason I cant give it 5 stars is its 50c for the locker. Every other Edmonton pool has free lockers.
Nice clean little facility. Water was pretty cold for all of us and I was disappointed that there is no shallow wading pool for littles after the Reno.
Negatives: - Everything inside is now a lovely color of prison grey -The lights in the sauna are too bright for relaxation (I realize this might aid in cleaning but maybe install a dimmer switch?) - New hand dryers are annoyingly loud and no better than the old ones. ' - No soap dispensers? Seriously after I use the washroom I would like to wash my hands with soap? -Front desk lady was spaced out -Sauna Floor under the benches was covered in black mold due to everyone's sweat dripping down and no cleaning.
Positives: -Female lifeguard with clear plastic framed glasses was very friendly and helpful -The Sauna is still hot! -Not very busy (yet) -Salt water pool conversion is a smash hit! No more Chlorine gas! -Cleanliness is above other rec centers. -Water fountains offer filtered water. -After notifying staff, Sauna floor was very clean!
I still enjoy coming here so at least they didn't shut it down permanently
