The doctors and nurses really don’t care about you. They all think you’re exaggerating if you’re in pain. They all think you’re drug seeking if you say you’re in pain. They also have to Google most things because they’re not very good at their job.
They judge you based on your race (if you’re indigenous they don’t take you seriously). You better be dead or dying if you want a doctor in cold lake/bonnyville. Even then the chances of them being able to save you is slim to none considering how incompetent they all are.
Funny how this country will give addicts a “safe supply” but they won’t give people who are in pain anything.
Shout out to all the overworked and overlooked Drs, nurses, support staff! They are doing the best they can while being so short staffed. If you have an issue with this hospital, it's the Provincial Govt you need to blame!
Bring something to do, whether it's a book, video game, phone, etc. You will wait a very long time. Bring food. My wait was 5+ hours starting in the morning, and I never go to the hospital. Generally pretty healthy. Be prepared.
I can’t say enough good about this Healthcare Centre! I moved to Cold Lake almost three years ago from Medicine Hat. Certainly some expected changes! Having to travel to Edmonton for special treatment is similar to going to Calgary from Medicine Hat! However, I have had wonderful care in Bonnyville Healthcare Centre for a shoulder surgery and an upcoming knee replacement. The pre-op provision of educational services and meetings with care providers has been better than any place I’ve been! It’s too bad that more people who get good care don’t speak up!
Hands down best c-section experience out of the 3 of my babies. The other two I had were in the city and I can’t express it enough that the Bonnyville team did such an amazing job. The nurses were outstanding just as much as the doctors. Dr.fouche kept me informed on what was going on during the procedure telling me exactly what was happening to put my mind at ease and for that I thank all of the wonderful staff.
Nothing fantastic but it gets way to much slack when compared to the hospital in Cold Lake and others in the area.
On top of that this is Canada, of course it takes a long time, that's a consequence of universal health care. I had to stay all day last Christmas thought witch was unfortunate.
