My favorite place to visit in Calgary and I can spend hours here each time. The place is always clean, well organized, and the staff are always friendly.

Great place to find something to read at a very reasonable price! The store is bigger than it looks!

A nice little store. Hand washing necessary upon entering, but I'm quite okay with that. Selection wasn't too big, volunteer run and they're all friendly and willing to help.

Incredibly friendly people running the store. They have an enormous selection of books, a great kids section, and a lovely atmosphere.

We bought probably 10-12 books and they are very affordable! Just over 50 bucks for all those books, a total steal of a deal, in my opinion. I will definitely be going back again and again.

Lots of books, fantastic selection, great prices and very nice people. Annoying that you have to be escorted to the back to wash your hands, when a sanitizer station at the front would suffice. Also, not sure if they don't take debit or only for larger purchases.

I Love this bookstore, rooms upon rooms of great finds, popular authors, fantasy Sci fi, romance, horror, mystery, YA, and more all well organized and at extremely reasonable and easy to follow price points. I don't get up to this area often but when I do its a must visit place.

This place is phenomenal! The selection of books is excellent and the staff are extremely helpful as well as friendly. I went there for the first time a couple weeks ago and they treated me like an old friend as soon as I walked in the door. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for used books, books that are hard to track down and just anything in general if you're a reader. They happily show you around and they have answers to any question you could possibly have about any book in the place, I love coming here

Rude staff. I called asking about a particular book and the woman staff member asked me what I needed, and as I was telling her which book, she cut me off mid-sentence with a rude "Nope, nope, nope we don't look up books for customers".

This rude reply confused me as I had called and asked for a book in December and another woman staff member was happy to go look for it and put it aside for me.

I will shop elsewhere for used books now, due to this rude staff member's choose of words and attitude. I hope she has a better day and is more pleasant with inquiring customers over the phone.

A shame, as this was my favourite place to buy used books.

I went to Books Between Friends on Friday for the first time and had a lovely experience. Not sure why there are so many negative reviews.
Did they ask me if I have been there before…they did but I appreciate that they did and then took the time to explain to me how the store works.
Did they ask me to wash my hands…again they did but I totally understand why. Our hands have natural oils on them not to mention lotions we put on etc.so to avoid ruining the books they ask you to wash your hands. I personally don’t think it’s a far fetched ask.
The 3 staff members I encountered that day were super friendly and more than willing to answer any questions I had and even helped me find some of the books I had on my list.
The prices were amazing I got 2 books for $5 and they were basically in new condition!

I would definitely go here again and recommend the store to the avid reader.

All the profits go to proper local charities, everything is affordable and always something to find. Ken is lovely and helpful.

This is a unique bookstore in Calgary-see the shop website and read the story behind it. Prices are very reasonable but I feel it can use more book donations; some of the shelves were pretty empty but that's understandable because they are competing with Value Village a stone's throw away. This shop needs to do some more marketing so people know its here. It needs more books to sell so it can support local good causes. And I think it can/should drop the hand-washing policy because as other reviewers have said, it is a bit much and the hand-washing location is in an awkward place in the store and may put off new customers who aren't used to shopping there.

For me who’s a fan of classic books, this place is a pure heaven. Workers are pretty friendly with great taste in books. Thank you very much guys for making such a peaceful space?

I’ve been to this store a few times and always have a fantastic experience. Hands down the best used bookstore I’ve been too

I visited Books Between Friends to find a copy of To Kill A Mockingbird. The women working were incredibly helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. The prices are so low that my daughter was stunned. This is the best bookstore in Calgary.
