Build-A-Bear Workshop

This is a store for children, some staff is super rude when nicely asked a question. So disappointed.

Left the store perplexed. Came in with my two
Young kids, to get a bear for my 3 yo daughter. Walked in and saw two ladies helping with bears, waited patiently nearby the stuffing station to get some help. The First Lady, I believe Mel was on her name tag, finished stuffing a bear, avoided eye contact or any communication of any kind. Walked past me and my two kids, went behind the counter grabbed a drink, started talking to a girl on the register who was taking payment of another customer. The lady then exited behind the counter and spoke with another customer about some accessories, told a couple that a lineup started down the end of the stuffing area. Meanwhile I was still not sure what I was supposed to do or go to. She came back and sat at the stuffing station to which I said that I was here for a birthday bear for my daughter. The lady then ushered off the other side of the store and just said “the bears in the basket with happy birthday on the feet”. I asked any bear or just one specific and she repeated the ones with happy birthday on the feet. A lineup of 5-6 people formed behind me I stepped over to look at the bears and she ushered in the next customer. Leaving me to figure out the bear with no assistance or guidance and then to return to the back of the line that had formed. Judging by how quick she had been moving I assumed it would be 20-30 minutes in line and just couldn’t justify making my kids stand around in a store for that long when there was no customer service seeming worth supporting.

Not very impressed with how one of the staff members acted towards my partner.
My partner was excited to a Pokémon B. A. B, and Adrienne (?) referred to her as "baby". My partner is 27 years old, we're not sure how old this staff member is, however, this is also not the first time my partner was treated like this with Adrienne (?).

Very busy, not a lot of staff doing the stuffing. Once we got through the stuffing area, it was a bit faster.

Staff were very cheerful and helpful, Andrew helped guide us through, Mel "stuffed" our bears, a great experience all around. Thanks so much Build-a-bear!

I was waiting in line to ask for help they looked at me and went back to their work and I asked them for help and they didn’t hear me

I had such a blast taking my nieces here yesterday. They loved how they stuffed their kitty cat and Pikachu by letting them press on the peddle to provide the stuffing while watching it get stuffed. This part was so exciting for them. I found the pricing very reasonable. Definitely will be taking them back. They can’t stop telling their mom and dad on how much fun they had

Absolutely worst experience to have with your child, they are so excited to pick out their bear only to be stuck waiting for over an hour to fill it up. One fill machine for the whole store seriously total garbage experience, don’t waste your time here there are lots of places to get stuffies at WEM.

I am from Sask and went to Alberta to visit family. Had my 4 year old twins in BAB in west Edmonton mall. My one daughter is autistic and was having a hard time waiting for her bear to be filled. When it was finally our turn the worker was trying to get her attention. I mentioned to her that my daughter is non verbal so she went to fill my other daughter bear with the stuffing. The worker mentioned that BAB workshop isn’t a place for my autistic daughter. I have complained to the company but they must not take concerns seriously as they don’t return phone calls. DON’T GO!
RUDE! INCONSIDERATE!

Priority number one for half my family was to be in the bear store. Kids were very satisfied. Several items broke within the HR but the store was very good at doing the refund/exchange.

Myself and my girlfriend went in to make a valentines bear today, having never been to build a bear before we stood in line at the stuff station and decided to step to the side to watch them stuff the bear ahead of ours, up until this point we were having a great time when we were then talked to very rudely and condescending manor by Ethan working the stuff station. While this is one thing, that made us upset enough o put the bear away. All the way out the door he stared at me with a look like “I’m better than you”. Walking by again we saw Mel on the other stuff machine and decided to try again. Though she was busy stuffing the display bears she was more than happy to help us out and stuff out little moose. I just wanted to say Mel is amazing and was able to turn the entire buildabear experience around for us after the experience with Ethan. I would recommend this store, just not Ethan:)

I came with my friend for the first time. I had trouble understanding how to do the recording. We had thought that we needed one of the workers to scan before you can record something. We had got in line and started stuffing it until we were told we needed the recording BEFORE we stuffed our bears. The worker had showed us how to record and I was expecting her to leave us record while she helps the long line, bu she had started to rush us as we were trying to record. The people in line were getting angry as she was the only one studding at the moment. My recording was messed up as I had been pressured to hurry and didn’t listen to the recording before I left. I've walked past build a bear every time I've ever gone to west Ed mall. After many years now I've finally had the chance to go here with my son and daughter. We had a great first experience. Adrian helped our 2 little ones out and brought their bears to life. My son absolutely loves his new teddy. As a parent I know these are the memories they'll cherish forever and am grateful build a bear made it happen:)

The older ladies who work here are some of the most incredible people in the world. They were very eager and willing to help us find specific bears we were looking for, and were friendly and willing to talk to us. If it wasn't for them, the little BABW date I had with my husband wouldn't have been as special.

My Daughter loved it! She had been dying to go for a long time now! She picked Glisten the reindeer. It is a very beautiful, good quality stuffed toy. The experience put a smile on her face for the rest of the day!

I felt robbed leaving this store. When they showcase what stuffy’s you can get, they show them being all suited up with clothes on. When you pick your stuffy you can see all the stages you can go to for “build a bear” not one person tells you that you need to pay extra for clothing for the teddy even though that’s how it’s shown when it says $31.
Good luck telling your child you’re taking a naked chase and skye out of there after you’ve been bamboozled.

Honestly way too much to write. But the staff that worked today had no consideration for my daughter or myself. They were rude, and slow and did not acknowledge us. I should have left and not given them my business however I got my 3 year old so excited for it and it was her first time. Too bad their is not another location because I would not recommend this one. Great idea for a store and I had an awesome experience in the past. However today the staff there, should have been fired. Honestly so unbelievable disappointed. Especially on my birthday. I wish I could put no stars.

It’s very pricey, the service is garbage, and the clothes are don’t even last two days I’m the bear. What else do I have to say about it.

My friends and I went to this location on Tuesday April 9th at about 10: 15 am to buy a toothless bear. I didn’t get her name but the older lady working that morning was extremely funny and nice and was cracking jokes with us. We had come all the way from Winnipeg so she was talking with us while stuffing my dragon. Later we came back riding StuffyRiders and she recognized us and waved. It was a 10/10 experience and it really brightened up our day. She deserves a raise. -Ava

This place is amazing. We will be coming back again in the future. Melanie is one thee best staff members we have encountered in forever. Our plush family has grown and will grow because of her friendly and professional service.

My son had a great time here. The person helping us was a little clip with him when he'd ask questions.but otherwise fine.
We had to wait a little bit to actually build his Pokemon stuffy, but when it came time to pay, the line moved quickly.

Definitely a fun little date night activity. The staff were really engaging and had great interactions with the customers as they came through. It was my first time going to build-a-bear, so I was a bit unclear on the order of steps, but it was a lot of fun picking out our bears and customizing them to reflect our personalities and the type of date we were having.

Great staff friendly environment and the looks on kids faces when they build their own stuffed animal is priceless.

I took my son here for his 3rd birthday as they have a pay your age promotion for childrens birthdays. You have to make the birthday bear for that price but it's adorable so that's fine! The staff was very friendly and made the experience fun for my son. He was smiling the whole time. They have a large selection of clothes for the bears, including character clothes, so my son was able to dress his bear like Chase from Paw Patrol which was exciting for him. It is a little bit pricey for all the accessories but I definitely recommend the birthday bear if it's your childs birthday as you save 11 dollars on the bear and buy an extra accessory if wanted:)

Great customer service. Kids have so much fun. Great customer care afterwards. We've taken in stuffies that were bought from there several years ago and they've fixed split seams.

To the woman saying the staff hold bears in the back room.the young lady who let me have that grinch for my son had purchased that bear herself and given the circumstances, which I won’t say here, she gave it up for him. That was an incredible thing for her to do and it’s sad that it caused this wonderful location to get such a snide review.

The associates that work at the store save product in the back for themselves so customers are not allowed to buy it and then they pick and choose which customers they were allowed to have it. I went in to buy The Grinch Build-A-Bear and there was none on the floor but the associate had it in the back. I thought it was sold out but then she took it from the back and gave it to a different family who also wanted the Grinch. Now my child doesn't get a Grinch Build-A-Bear

I had the best experience today. Melanie helped my friends and I and made the experience amazing. She was so friendly and had great conversations with us. She knew so much about all of their bears and clothes, and helped us with everything. She was also LGBTQ friendly as my friend and I were talking about how my llama was bi (since it was the bisexual colours) and my friends was a drag bear (since it was rainbow). She was just as thrilled as we were when telling her this.

Was left at the last step for over 20 mins as it was the first time my son and I were there and we didn't know what to do next. The one staff member on the floor went to help the next people and never checked up on us and we were clearly standing in the open looking lost. Then another staff member came from the back and took some pictures of some of the bears and went in the back again. There was only one other group that came in after us. The girl from the back finally came out but started helping the person after us and didn't offer help at all. I am never going back. If my son hadn't been with me I would have left the bears and walked out.
