Busy Boy Moving and Storage

I’ve been working with Busy Boy for 7 years now to do furniture pick ups and deliveries for my company. The staff is always courteous, hardworking and careful with the furniture. There was recently an issue with billing and Dave the company owner called me directly within an hour to resolve it, answering my questions respectfully and with kindness. I truly appreciate the level of communication and professionalism this moving company has provided over the years. 5 Star service all the way!

Frustrating - I called Busy Boy Moving for a quote because of their deliveries for Montauk Sofa and good online reviews. They came to our home, estimated weight of our possessions, sent a written quote with a delivery timeline of 7 to 21 days (long distance to another province), said driver they’d use was a guy named Jeff who drives long haul for Montauk sofa, he’d use his semi and we could pay Busy Boy by credit card with no additional fee. I discussed in detail with Busy Boy’s Dave who assured me that everything would be in good hands, and described exactly how our things would be loaded and transported in Jeff’s semi before we decided that was quote we’d go with (was pricey but we felt we could trust and didn’t want to take a chance with things that were important to us). After all our possessions were loaded for the move and we flew out of Calgary, things changed dramatically. The amount owing quickly became thousands more than the written quote, claims were made for even higher weight, immediate payment in full for higher amount would only be accepted by cash, wire transfer or other deposits to bank accounts, and possibility of extra fees was mentioned. We worried we chose badly but not anything we could do at that point since payment in full was required before our possessions would be delivered so we kept tone friendly and paid by e-transfers since we wanted our possessions safe but we kept clear records since beginning and this way would have proof of payments as well. 7-21 days turned into 30 days (which is last day insurance companies cover goods in transit) and just before that date, we were told of additional requirement for $1,000 cash payment directly to the driver before we could have our possessions (driver was no longer Jeff and was a kid named Ben Carignan who said Jeff was his dad). We paid Ben by e-transfer who then showed up with all of our stuff badly shoved into a uhaul, complaining he’d had to sleep in it for the 3 days since he left Calgary in it. Uhaul confirmed they don’t have a truck with max capacity that could even take the original quote for weight let alone the much higher weight we were told ours was weighed at. The damages to our stuff caused by lack of even at least wrapping things in a blanket were frustrating (bad ugly scrapes, big chips, snapped floor lamp). These were things we cared enough about to move cross country. Driver Ben said reason he took apart (snapped) the expensive floor lamp we’d collapsed and wrapped ourselves was that even though it would fit well into semi it wouldn’t fit into uhaul otherwise. They hired a couple of local guys to do unloading. Busy Boy should be ashamed.

Hired Busy Boy Moving to do my move and would highly recommend them. They were quick, efficient and a friendly team.

Highly recommend. Greg, Wes and Tyler worked all day at our 4 stop move and managed to get a huge freezer into our small basement with a narrow hallway. They also put our bed frames back together which was so appreciated! Great team and would definitely use them again.

Worst moving experience ever! Busy Boy sent 3 of their crew to move a sectional into our basement. Made very little effort to actually get it done and then gave up and called it "Not Possible". When I suggested they try harder, one of the movers said "I've been doing this for a very long time and there's no way that couch is going in", and proceeded to leave the couch in my living room and took off.

An hour later in despair, my wife and I moved the couch into the basement with almost zero issues.

I'm assuming that I got the lazy team, the other reviews for Busy Boy seem positive. From my experience, these guys are not who you want moving your new furniture. Will never use this company again.

We received a strong recommendation for Busy Boy Movers and are we ever so happy we went with them! The entire experience was a solid 5… from making the arrangements to them picking up some very important pieces to their prompt delivery and expert care in placing them where we asked them to (including our request to move thing this way or that way, which they did with a smile). They even placed new protective pads on all the items. Wowsy! We will be using their service again.

I used Busy Boy this past weekend and Dave and Steve were communicative, professional, friendly and FAST. They had runners to protect my floors, blankets for all of the furniture and were so efficient. Highly recommend!

Had Greg and Jon come help me doing moving today with this company and they were great guys, Very professional and wrapped my stuff up with cloths to make sure it didn't get all damaged, they tied stuff down inside the trailer to make sure nothing moved at all either.

Very great company to go with, If I ever got to move in the future I will be getting these guys to move my stuff again.

Busy Boy took great care to deliver and install our new custom made dining room table. They were friendly and respectful. They completed the job quickly and carefully.

Dave, Dusty, and Zach helped us with our move and they were EXCELLENT! They were incredibly efficient while also being very careful with our floors, walls, and furniture. They were also super friendly and willing to move pieces of furniture around if we changed our mind about placement. They didn't require an at home visit to give us a quote (great considering the precautions we wanted to take during the pandemic) and they sent the quote over the same day. I can't recommend them highly enough! Thanks for making our move seamless and stress free.

WOW! We had a very large couch being delivered for our basement that I doubted would fit. Not only were Busy Boys POSITIVE, optimistic, and hilarious but they were SO professional and moved the couch in like butter. Incredible staff and so helpful! Really impressed!

Five stars is not enough to represent how amazed I was with the service that I got from Busy Boy. Huge shout out to Rocco, Shawn and Dusty for helping with my move. I didn't think they would ever fit my entire house into one truck, and told them I was happy to do (and pay for) two loads. After a long and back breaking day they made everything I owned fit and not only did nothing break, there wasn't so much as a scuff on anything they moved. I wasn't just impressed, I was actually in awe at how much care these guys put into their work. I'm a real estate lawyer and I deal with all kinds of people. Very rarely do I see that much competence in any group I deal with anywhere. Every move I ever make going forward will be with Busy Boy.

I hired Busy Boy for my move last Thursday. Dusty, Greg & Pat Showed up on time with smiles on their faces. They had a good banter with one another, along with being very professional.

At the end of the day, when all of my furniture was in my new place, if I decided to move a piece of furniture from Downstairs to upstairs (I was worried they might get a little annoyed but they did not). They had no problem Making the change at my request.

I moved from a home into a condo in 30 degree weather. My movers never complained once and worked so hard. I was very pleased with their professionalism and the care they took with all of my items. They were very pleasant to deal with. I was so impressed with Dave and his helper. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for movers.
