Still happy to give Cafe Beano 5 stars. I had their iced Earl Grey. It was lovely!
Great staff and an inviting place to sit. Will for sure be back.

Came for the hot chocolate as boasted as one of the better spots for a clean, no frills and authentic melted chocolate type of drink. It was exactly that definition and great to find no weird after taste. The hot chocolate goes from $5.50-5.75.you can also bring your own mugs here to be more environmental. Lots of seats here but gets rather busy. They also serve food items such as baked goods or bagels. Lots of drink variety here. The busyness represents the customer loyalty they do have.

A pretty average coffee shop. I have come in closer to the end of the day The coffee I got tasted burnt, I definitely had better ones. The choice of deserts was lacking.
The design of the place is probably the same from what was there before, which looks like an 80's diner. The choice of music in the place was interesting.
I found out later that, apparently, the place had existed here for 30 years. The design hasn't been updated and the retro look is on purpose. Not sure if that makes it any better.

I read that the best espresso was found here and I was not disappointed! I still haven't found a better oat latte. Thank you for having milk alternatives!

Coffee was good, they do need to pay more attention to the toilets, not as clean as they should be.

Cozy Cafe on 17th Ave! I was just walking by looking for a place to grab a quick tea to drink and the wait was not long at all. I tried one of their holiday drinks, the chocolate peppermint tea misto and it definitely hit the spot!

My friend recommended me here for mocha which i agree with one of the best mocha you can get. Real chocolate on top to bottom. Very satisfied with sweet little coffee. Very busy sometimes tho.

Had some time to kill before church next door and hadn't had breakfast yet. The late was the best value, tasty and reasonably priced but the food! Holy. Otherwise would've given this place 5 stars.

Looks like a lovely spot.
No credit cards or debit (outside Canada).
And no wifi.
Went someplace else.

Espresso milkshake is a must try. Along with their gluten free baked goods.

I've given this cafe multiple tries but my experience is always the same. The staff is not friendly to interact with. I have always left the interaction feeling put off. I don't think it's unreasonable to ask a question, or to assume you could use a credit card to make a purchase in 2022. I'll support other local places where I don't feel that the staff is annoyed by me being a customer.

This was a great place going back some years ago when the other options on 17th were Tim Hortons and Waves.
A few staff members are friendly. Mostly it's disgruntled, rude, cliché hipsters working there. The coffee is fine, there are some GF and vegan options for those that need them.
Now that there are so many different cafes in the same area, this place is worth missing.

Two of us stopped in for coffee after work, Friday. The drinks were great, the food was good. However, the staff was somewhat distracted -had to remind them we had ordered cookies- and the washrooms were not the cleanest.

The staff was very friendly and the seating area is nice, but the drink I had today sucked. Paid 8 bucks for a dirty chai that had an english breakfast teabag in it, and the bottom of the cup was super grainy so I couldn't finish it.

Very emotional writing this review. I have been going to Caffe Beano every single day since working at my new office. I have referred my friends family and coworkers to go to this cafe with having usually a great experience. Today however was the last day I will go there. I ordered a small coffee that was a total of $3, after receiving the coffee I went to put my fixings in. I was approached by one of the employees to say my card was declined loudly, I went back to pay again and the machine said declined again. It was impossible, I had more than enough funds to pay and while checking my bank account on my app I saw the -3.00 charge went through on my end. I showed the guy who was serving me that the charge did go through and he asked another older lady in the back what to do and she said I don’t care if it didn’t go through on machine it’s not paid for. Then he had every other associate look at my bank account- MEANWHILE THE WHOLE COFFEE SHOP WAS LISTENING AND NOT BEING SERVED IN LINE.

This is the most embarrassing situation I’ve ever been in especially working in the customer service industry this is a huge no. With tears down my face I gave them the coffee back, said this is absolutely disheartening and unfortunately will no longer visit this spot again. I’ve never seen any other of their more important regulars treated in such a way. And all over a 3$ coffee that I clearly paid for and didn’t get to enjoy.

Laid back vibes, love the chai, used to love the coffee as well but don’t drink coffee anymore. Love the art on the walls and all the loyal customers enjoying coffee outside. Always a favourite.

Rachelle and Dylan are just the nicest ladies, I see Rachelle often when ordering the best coffee in the world (Vietnamese Hot Coffee).
It's a cool vibe, nice people and amazing drinks. I highly recommend this place and then some!

Best coffee shop in Calgary. Staff are super friendly, and the coffee’s amazing. Only downside is that they don’t accept credit card.

I noticed the lady before me received better customer service than I did, I felt as this was racially motivated and I felt super unwelcome. My mom and I come here every once in awhile, and this will for sure be the last time. The drink I got was okay but it did not make up for the bad customer service.

Really good coffee, and nice place. I recommend the Vietnamese coffee and the London Fog tea! The best!

Caffe beano always has excellent coffee. I have never had a negative experience with the beverages, always top notch. The only negative I've noticed is how loud the music inside the cafe is.

Coffe was okay, but didn’t liked the customer service IdK why but the staff was sort of ignorant and rude!

I’ve been a few times now and it’s always a good experience! Staff are friendly and it’s overall just a feel good, diner style cafe! I tried the yyc hot chocolate fest seasonal hot chocolate, which is a matcha mint hot chocolate! It was so good! Worth a try before hot chocolate fest is over!

Vegan Hot chocolate for yyc hot chocolate a sad experience. Not hot, no whipped topping. First time they forgot the mint flavouring. They could have had coconut whip cream ….

I have been to beano plenty of times it's a very classy place down-to-earth folks and very good eats their coffee is excellent

Splendid Vietnamese latte! Groovy cafe, just wish there was more power outlets to keep my laptop juiced.

We had a great coffee date at Beano. We all had the YYC Hot chocolate, which was amazing.

We all tried different food and snack items. Everything was fresh and delicious (totes try their bagels).

Friendly service.

My only complaint is I wish they took credit cards.

Dropped to one star, learn how to treat your customers and your work is better during the pandemic!

Items I tried today:
- YYC hot choco: I personally dont like matcha taste so this is not the right one for me
- Vietnamese ice coffee: as a Viet, I am suprise that it's taste ways better than I expect. Not so many western coffee shops serving Viet Coffee, you must try if you want something new.

Beano was good but they take like 15 minutes to make a bagel and they’re almost always burnt!) they also keep giving me CHUNKY drinks, doesn’t matter if it’s coffee or or like iced chai this has happened several times now and also sometimes drinks taste like SOAP or like NOTHING at all

Best place in the city. Delicious coffee, great food, excellent service, and always surrounded by the best little community of people. I always look forward to coming here. ️

Unfortunately this place discriminates against individuals with medical exemptions. I went in for a bagel and the guy there refused to even speak to me. I tried asking if they had breakfast sandwiches and he kept telling me to get out. He did not care that I have a doctor's note of exemption. Very sad that I am unable to support this establishment.

UPDATE: Changing my review to 1 star. Today I thought I would give them another chance instead of going to Starbucks, as I have a business across the street and would much rather support my neighbours. It was even worse than the last time I came here.
No one was in the shop, I came in and. The staff stood there (right in front of me) finishing their convo before helping. I am honestly disgusted with this business at this point. This is the third time this has happened. I could even get over the no credit card but being treated like I’m a nuance, by the hipster staff, does not sit well with me. I’m unsure who owns this place but you need a massive business makeover, in absolutely every possible way.

Giving 2 because the coffee was pretty good. The staff was rude when I tried to use my Credit Card. I own a business also and understand it is slightly higher rates to pay for MC and Visa but that’s the cost of doing business in 2021. I think it’s time to reconsider, especially since people are moving away from using cash.

Today I had an overpriced small brewed coffee there for $3.00. It wasn't even very good or hot.

They don't take credit cards and they don't even have wifi. Their outside seating consists of hard uncomfortable benches. Are we out in some picnic area or what? No class. So, for that ordinary high priced coffee they can't even offer their customers the convenience of being able to use a credit card or the courtesy of using wifi or comfortable seating.

I hadn't been to Caffe Beano in several years prior to today and I certainly won't be going back anytime soon.

What a terrible Customer Service experience today. We went for the hot chocolate offering, and although the drink itself was ok (but not great or worth the cost), there were many problems. The chocolate/chai mix is stuck at the bottom of the cup, meaning it either wasn't mixed properly or else the milk wasn't hot enough to incorporate the mix. As we drank the drink, the graininess of the chai powder overcame everything else. But equally disturbing, the fellow who was creating the drinks was totally disinterested in the creation, and put the whipped cream up above the cup, and simply handed us the lids and shrugged his shoulders. Not surprisingly there was an overflow, we got no help at all in cleaning it up. Never EVER returning.

Love that coffeeshop! They have amazing lattes and matcha lattes as well. Nice place to sit in front of their coffeeshop too. The only thing I’d say they could improve on is to offer their payment machine to accept credit cards as well! I’m even surprised it’s not a requirement yet in 2020!

Edit: Not sure what they changed or if they changed something recently to their milk or coffee but when I picked up some latte and cappuccino today they were tasting like they added some sweetener to them (either it was a sweetened almond milk or they added some honey to them) but it was sweet! Even at the bottom of the cup I could see the remaining sugar either of the milk or again the sweetener.

I love their coffee but I have to say, I was highly disappointed because I hate sweet in my coffee.

Coffee was okay, nothing to write home about. I recieved a gift card for this place from a friend so wanted to check it out but over the course of 2-3 years, each time I went here they were unable to use the gift card (machine down, gift card system updating, couldn't use the older version of the gift cards) to the point I just threw the gift card away.

Loved the YYC HOT CHOCOLATE entry - a yummy choco-chai drink - not too sweet, lightly spiced, with gorgeous gold glitter!
