Calgary Animal Eye Care

Staff were friendly and very helpful with paperwork required. Eye exam was quick and Dr. Ramey was patient with our dog.

I paid extra to get an emergency appointment at Calgary Animal Eye Care when my dog suddenly got an ulcer on his eye. They were given details of the situation before making the appointment.
The doctor put a contact lense in his eye, gave me drops to administer and told me it would be two weeks before they would have time to do his surgery. How do you take extra money from someone for emergency care, and then tell them it’ll be two weeks before you’ll actually be available to fix the problem? I was told if the situation worsened to contact them and they have a contact person available on the weekends even though their office is closed. To be clear, their office is closed Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Two days later (Friday) his situation worsened. I mistakenly wasted my time trying to contact this clinic through the email address they gave me. They don’t actually have anyone available to ‘do’ anything, they just offer advice through email. I was encouraged to wait and go back into the office Monday for another appointment. I told the email person that it seemed useless to continue waiting when he was obviously in a lot of pain and they weren’t going to be able to do his surgery for almost 2 weeks. I ended up taking him to C. A. R. E. Emergency Hospital that same weekend, and he lost his eye. The surgeon at C. A. R. E.said there was so much damage the best thing was removal. The eye surgeon at C. A. R. E is absolutely wonderful. Kind, caring, prompt and explained everything with nothing but care and empathy and patiently answered my questions. I sent an email to Royal Oak Calgary Animal Eye Care to tell them he was losing his eye, and even then she still advised me to wait, not have the surgery, and go back into their office Monday. Also of note, they wouldn’t even get me in Monday morning, they weren’t going to get me in until Monday night. She then had the audacity to tell me that I’m welcome to come back if my dog has any trouble with his remaining eye. I will NEVER set foot in Royal Oak Calgary Animal Eye Care again. I am so happy with the care we were shown at C. A. R. E. Emergency Hospital. After he lost his eye he was banging into everything while trying to learn how to navigate with one eye. He quickly developed major neck pain and was diagnosed with IVDD. Again C. A. R. E. Emergency Hospital took such good care of us. I intensely regret going to Calgary Animal Eye Care in Royal Oak. I truly believe if I would’ve gone to C. A. R. E.first, my boy would still have his eye, he wouldn’t have gone through all of the immense stress and pain he has endured this year, and I would’ve saved thousands of dollars and immense stress and heartache myself.

I would like to share with you guys
That my little puppy yogi had to get his eyes checked yesterday it was emergency and the doctor was not there to look she is on holidays I would recommend these guys for your pets I was upset

Novas care was efficient and Dr Ramey was exceptional.
I know she is in good hands.

We took our cat to the clinic because she has a lesion on her pupil. The vet and the technician were so gentle with her. She didn't mind being there at all. Luckily she is fine. Great support staff, nice modern facility.

Thank you to Calgary Eye Care team for looking after my dog Milo as soon as they could after I was worried he would lose his eye.
They were so caring and helpful.
They found the problem very quick after he was looked at our local Vet and couldn’t what was wrong with his eye.
Luckily my dog will be just fine.
