Calgary Beacon Heights Goodwill Thrift Store

Always a pleasant shopping experience at Goodwill Beacon Heights. I brought my friend along and it was her first time shopping at this location. She was impressed how clean the store was and how friendly the staff were. Sonia at the checkout counter was very friendly and made us feel welcomed. Will surely return for more shopping!

I love going here. Items are well organized. Very spacious. Nice inventory. The staff are very friendly as well, especially Sonya. She is very welcoming and accommodating. Highly recommended!

This is probably the best Goodwill for selection in the city. Staff are always very friendly! Massive selection of clothes, books and seasonal decorations for very, very low prices.

Dante Reyes was so extremely helpful and polite and generous. Even though he has an injured shoulder he helped me load my purchase. I witnessed him be so courteous to his fellow staff members. A very pleasant shopping experience

I had the best shopping experience today. The employees Dante and Sonia were amazing and so friendly. It was nice to actually have staff interact with me. They were funny and all out great people. The store display behind the counter was tastefully done, neat and tidy. I will be going back soon!

Dante was extremely helpful when I was asking about I coffee table. Once bought, he carried it out for me.
He has done fantastic work with designing the displays throughout the store! Dante has created visually appealing collections and I believe it has brought interest to the store. I’ll be back to find new treasures!

My husband just dropped of two full bins of donations this morning at about 9: 30, Nov 3rd at the Beacon Hill location. The attendant at the door was extremely rude. He chastised my husband for coming before 10 am. The website says donation drop off begins at 9 am although the store opens at 10. The attendant rudely told my husband to not come back before 10 am ever and that the website is wrong.
We will find a different charity to make our donation to in the future and suggest Goodwill offer it’s employees/volunteers some training in customer service.

I donated a few items last night after work, the customer service was outstanding considering it was a snow storm, I believe his name was Tyler or Taylor, he brought out a bin to the sidewalk and helped put our donations in, he was extremely friendly and helpful! I’ve gone to other goodwill’s In Calgary to donate my old items a couple times in the past and the overall customer service experience here was the best that I have experienced donating items, I 100% recommend donating here because it’s a good cause and a great company!

Appalled by the service I got there. Showed up 10 minutes before close with 6 boxes of donations. The gentleman looked at me and locked the door and said we are closed. I said you guys close at 6 he replied with. “Well we are closing early” great service to people who are trying to donate. With people more desperate than ever you’d think you would be more than happy to take it.

This store Beacon Heights Goodwill is by far the Best one in Calgary. The prices are Affordable & the clothes are Almost new or New. My clothes are all from your store they are very modern and stylish, I wouldn't want to shop anywhere else but this store. The staff are very friendly & helpful with every customer. I tell everyone where I get my clothing & household Items.

I appreciate this kind of business but I have a unpleasant experience today.the cashier asked the manager give one of my items a higher price at the check out.not important product but it's Strange.they can do things in this way

Staff outside taking donations are great. I'm moving house have made multiple trips and have always been greeted with a smile.

I like to go to thrift stores but the 2x I’ve been in Goodwill, I found it severely overpriced for such used items that were donated to them. Most clothing items are over $9 each. Better off going to Salvation Army or MCC Thrift store.

I worked as a volunteer for 3 months and found that the store is well stocked with fabulous stuff of all varieties. Very congenial and homely atmosphere, extremely loving and helpful staff. Would like to join again, just waiting for the pandemic to settle down.

I believe her name is Ryann and she wouldnt let me line up at 758 pm. I had about $20 worth of items. Also has a very disrespectful tone to her. Will not be donating to this store again until this attitude is cleaned up first. Id rather go to the South store where everyone is very friendly. Also the North East store is pleasant place to visit.

Its funny how one staff member can sour the bunch. I did my best to stay calm. Normally when someone speaks to me that way i would tell them where to go.

The most expensive thrift store in Calgary, all mens tshirts are at least 7.50. And button ups were all $18 and up.

Great company and fully support its causes. However, the location is not very organized. We went to the back loading dock thinking this would be the place to drop off our donations. Instead, we are told to go to the front and someone would help us.

We went to the front, turned on our hazards and had to haul two truck loads of donations into the shop ourselves. In the meantime, one employee was just chatting with a friend.

If you have a lot of stuff to donate, I'd recommend the MacLeod Trail location over this one.

I've done a lot of thrift shopping in different places and this was one of my favorite stores the last couple years. Nice sized place that is clean, organized and pleasant to be in. Plenty of items in fantastic condition at reasonable prices. The staff is lovely and some of them just go above and beyond to be as friendly as possible. Thanks for all the good times!

It was quite packed in the store. There was no social distancing. Line-ups at the check-out we’re quite long.

This store only accepts brand new furniture, according to the staff. So if you have some old furniture want to donate, don't waste your time going there.

Employees are very friendly and helpful. The store is clean and items are organized and easy to find. This coupled with the fact that this is one of the best ways to help our environment by recycling and up-cycling goods makes this place a great go-to store for just about all your household and clothing needs.

If it weren't for the 20 min.lineup to get in during the snowstorm, it would have been very good. Found a wonderful flute for my daughter in great condition.

I dropped off donations this week. In the entrance there were patio chairs for sale for $20.00 each. I saw the same chairs at Home Depot for $22! It’s a thrift store and should be affordable for everyone.

Not my favourite goodwill. Although everyone was friendly and everything was well sorted the prices were really high for the quality. A majority of the stuff was priced similarly to brand new.

The staff is very friendly. The store is quite spacious. It’s neat and there is always something to buy in good condition.

Has a variety of clothing items but is a bit pricey for a "non profit" thrift store. You'll be able to find some deals but only a few dollars off. I'm sure they have some days where there are really good deals but other than that it's far too pricey for me. If you're looking for a cheaper thrift store try Salvation Army, it's the best thrift I've gone to. The one near Chinook Mall is great. It's clean, wide selection of clothing, and relatively low prices! Check it out, I highly recommend it.

Expensive! Only worth shopping here when they have the 50% off a colored tag deal. Grumpy people, grumpy staff. Not sure if it was a bad day all around, but it certainly put a damper on my shopping experience here.selection wise, it's a large store, they seperate the "designer" brands in its own rack. They have a decent selection of home furnishings as well, and Halloween costumes and accessories too.

Very nice store great staff. Some prices are very high like the ties they said was 3.50 each is now at $18.00 I even see ties for $20.00 like some reviews said its best to buy it brand new.

I would like to This opportunity and say what a beautiful store very clean and neat I shop there regularly I only live 15 minutes away I’m also look forward to going into seeing a certain woman that I love hearing her voice or should I say whistling I have not been able to hear it the last few times I’ve been there I’m not sure what has happened but I sure miss the beautiful sound it’s too bad some people do not like the sound of beautiful music and the sound of a bird maybe to make our customers happy 1520 more rotation of the beautiful whistling maybe somethings suggested suggested

Very clean and well organized store. The staff do a great job picking up after sloppy shoppers.
Beware the whistling staff member. She doesn't stop whistling and it's loud, and my wife and I find it very irritating.

This store obviously does not put books out on each day like the other stores in Calgary. It's more like they fit a few books here and there wherever they fit. New stock is rarely out as well. Just very disappointing to see this store drop the ball in books. Don't shop for books here, they are not but a regular Goodwill in the book section.

Best thrift store in the city. Recent change with book section and it is disorganized and disappointing.

June 5 2020! Has goodwill been bought out? Books were completely unorganized with new prices listed on the wall, so if you go in to look at childrens books you have to go down every aisle and scrounge for them all mixed in with everything else. Prices were noticeably higher. A glass pie plate was 6-8$. Very disappointing.

Most of the time, great friendly staff.sometimes you can find awesome things.a treasure hunt. Some staff i can connect with during my shopping experience.great location. Maybe can expand the store.some prices are little to high for second hand items.but some things are decent pricings.keep up the good work

Prices are getting too high for stuff acquired for free, bathroom door lock broken for 4 months now. Time to donate and shop elsewhere.

Favourite place to shop - check their website to see what colour of tag goes on sale! And they now do gift cards! Boxing Day shopping there was thoroughly satisfying and the staff are respectful and helpful.

Was looking for Rose bowls at the thrift stores and found that it was in fact a $1 more from Beacon Hill Goodwill then it was to buy it brand new from Michaels, and $2 more than what I could get it at other thrift stores for. I spoke with the manager and she said she knows they are more but that is the way it is. No wonder they have so many sitting there. I offered to buy all 21 at $1 each and was denied. ‍️. I get the whole not for profit thing, but asking more than it retails for normally is just ridiculous. Charging a fair price I could live with.charging more than retail is not fair pricing at all. Even Walmart was $1.77 brand new, and they think it's ok to charge $3 for a vase?

I went there and their “boutique” items were WAY over priced. Kind of arbitrary prices, prices similar to what they were new, sometimes even more. I wouldn’t have an issue with this if this was a consignment store, used fashion store, or something in that manner. No one curated the selection or even payed for the items in the first place. Every single item is donated and arrives at their door free of charge, by people thinking they’re supporting a good cause. It is a for profit, multinational company, with a face of good, but underneath it’s a sham. Thrift stores are marketed for low income people, but only the crappiest stuff is low cost, keeping these people from buying something nice, used, and at a good price. Buyer beware, of course used is always better than new, but charging outrageous prices seems unethical to me.

I have not been there since the first week they opened. But I was very impressed. Much better selection and so much more to pick from than the Varsity Store.

I don't buy from here but i donate to this place at least every quarter. I like the location and the staff is always friendly (even though its a different person at the drop off every single time). For those getting rid of old items, don't throw them out, always donate them. Its wasteful to throw items that can still be used.

One of the nicer/newer Goodwills in the city. However I find that most of (but not all obviously) the staff to be not super friendly and actually kind of rude. Also they say they "test" toys and electronics before they put it on the floor but I'm not sure how true that it. We bought a toy from here and your only option it to return it for exchange or store credit if it doesn't work - well, it doesn't work and I don't often find too many things that I want to buy here, so that's not helpful for me. Another thing is that the baby/toddler clothing is just a big mish mash and it's very difficult to sort through every single piece. I'm talking boys and girls all ages mixed together - it should he better organized, after all the men's and women's are organized by gender, size, and type - what about the babies/toddlers?

I was there on weekend spending almost a hundred. I had two filding kid camping chair on my cart. After the teller done everything and I paid he left the cash and moved to my cart and grabbing the two folding chairs and asking if i want to buy them or not?
I was so frustrated and embarrassed as there was a big line up.i explained to him that it is already scanned but he insisted no. I told him to go over the receipt to make sure.he then replied I remember scanning one of them but not the other one and telling me it is ok.then I was frustrated more as I am a respected costumer who have faith in recycling and helping the community. I told the teller I gave you the cover of the second chair to scan but he was still insisting that I had not paid.
Then I turned to him and said rescan everything. I won't leave the store.then he finally said oh it's been scanned. So rude.and I really expected an apology that I did not receive.
Very disappointed as I was treated like a shop lifter. I am a regular donor to Goodwill and I don't like others to be treated that way.
I had so many bad experiences there. It has not been the first time.
There are definitely nice people working there but also some very rude.
And please use your senses before accusing someone of stealing infront of a line up.why should I take a 2.25 CAD big folding chair and put it in my cart and wait in line and not pay?
If people want to shop lift they go for small and tiny items and do not stand in line.

It is always great to be able to get second hand things better than buying them new when you can get them for less than a quarter of the price and every week at this Goodwill they have 50% off certain tags you don't have to wait like other places for a date or whatever.

Best Goodwill I have ever been to. This location has an outstanding selection and great prices. There was this electronics kit that's usually $100 or more, I found one here for only $12.50! The book section here is amazing and there are LOTS of CD's.

Great place for inexpensive clothing, home products, knickknacks and gifts. Very clean store with friendly staff. Fitting rooms available with lots of clothing to choose from. Sizes for everyone. Definitely worth a visit if you like thrift stores.

This is definitely one of the nicest looking good wills in the city the store is always very clean organized are not that many staff and this one but I find it doesn’t need to be.always good finds here. The story has a nice layout and easy to find everything. Definitely one of the cheapest or stores in Calgary because of that opportunity to get stuff on sale as they have different things on different colour tags for example green tags are 50% off today
