I like this store so much it is #1 between all the Goodwills. Great stuff and great prices! Excellent customer service Sandra and Jennifer are the best, always happy to help:)
Went in there the other day to see what they had, was blown away by the supply as well as the customer service. Will definitely recommend this place to others from now on!
You will have to dodge all the vultures and scavengers who desperately search for any way to make a dollar, but apart from that I’ve found some nice stuff there.
Prices at this and all the other Goodwill locations are rather high, considering all of the merchandise has been donated. I realize that some of the proceeds go towards helping handicapped people, however what about the low income people who are buying items at the stores? I see shirts made in China that could be bought brand new at Walmart for not much more than the price at Goodwill. This should not only be a place where trendy people with money can discover interesting "finds". Yes, there are some decent prices on some things but alot of the basic items a low income person might be shopping for are uneasonably high.
I can't provide any compliments on the friendliness of the staff.
Honestly hands down the best Goodwill in Calgary. I love this store! The staff is friendly and the finds here are great. Only downside is there isn’t a public bathroom so it’s rough for people who like to spend the time shopping and might need a washroom as you have to leave the entire area and go to the gas station.
There is a good selection of house hold items and women's clothing and accessories tho there isn't a lot of casual wear for men good selection of electronics tools dvd's furniture and decor go take a look you will leave with something
When I first started going to Goodwill I was kind of Happy with with some of the prices as I frequent the store I started to realize that their prices were extremely high these doors are meant for people flip financial difficulties some of the prices that your pricing your your clothing and whatever at are ridiculous absolutely ridiculous you should be ashamed of yourself everything you get is donated lower your prices think about the people out there that can't afford not just about how much you can get for certain objects
My first trip there in about 7 years, lots of changes and all of them are good! The store is tidy and well laid out, it's easy to navigate and the wares are in good shape. I found brand new steel toed boots!
Always lots of good quality products here, big store also. Fairly clean overall, and prices are pretty good for this location. Staff on the other hand at the tills are usually quite grumpy compared to the ones that are on the floor which are usually quite friendly and informative. If you headed towards Chinook mall and thinking of headed to value village this is a definite stop to place. Just don't talk too much to the till staff. As I said they are usually pretty grumpy.
The personnel in this store are super rude, inconsiderate and nasty. They don’t honour medical exemptions so they act like mask Nazis walking around the store to see who has their mask under their nose. They make it their bane of existence to hunt the Maskless. Even though I had a medical note they still wouldn’t let me in to shop. Good luck that that attitude and business model! BOYCOTTING!
Staff is so rude here! We came in 10 minutes before closing and they yelled at us saying we couldn’t come in and that they were closing. We just needed to buy a chair. When we went to get it this employee came up to me and rudely said if I want to but that I need to line up at the till now or leave. As I was waiting in line another employee rudely told a lady who had a cart that her mask needs to cover her nose or to get out.
I understand you guys are a business but there are other ways to convey the same message than to go about it rudely. Teach your staff.
Those is one of my favorite thrift stores in Calgary and this might be my second favorite location. I always find those location always has great customer electronics and furniture, the clothing quality is fairly good at this location aswell
Updated! The owner responded to my review and I want to be clear, I was there and the two women were NOT rude, abusive, or dismissive. Those women were happy and smiling. They were even chatty with the police. If you don't want people in your store without a mask then say that and be firm in that. I still believe calling the police on your customers is wrong especially when you gave the impression that it was okay for them to be in the store.
Perhaps giving your staff the tools to deal with clients who are mask exempt or simply don't want to wear a mask is something this business should do.
The response from the owner is disappointing since clearly the owner wasn't there and now they have lied about what really happened. SMH - I went to this business and though I was wearing a mask I saw two women who came in without one. The lady at the front asked them to wear one or to produce their exemption which I feel is not okay. The lady allowed the women in the store so no big deal until the cops arrive!
At least have the balls to say "if you don't wear a mask or produce your exempt letter I'll call the cops. " Or just kindly say "I'm sorry but in this store you must wear one" won't be supporting a business who entraps consumers on purpose. Won't be returning here as this place doesn't give you a heads up on their own store policy.
Lots of good selection and the donation drop off is a drive through- super convenient. The workers are always really friendly when you're dropping off donations!
Don't come here if you use a bag of any kind. They won't let you leave it at the till and ask you to leave it at the front door instead, then saying it's not their problem if someone grabs it. Even a trash company like CT lets you lock up your backpack in a locker.
If you took transit to Chinook and have a backpack with you thinking you can drop by for a visit, don't even think about it.
Great deals and the store looks so tidy. The management and team do care about their store, by how presentable and organized it is. You could find things easily. For the 9 items I got, I paid for what normally would cost me for one item. It did exceed my expectations, maybe I visited on a good day but for me, I got a great deal, so I'm happy.
The store is very clean and organized. The staff here have been consistent with health and safety protocols. You can always depend on helpful staff and friendly service.
Avoid this place. I bought stuff and I asked the cashier about the return policy and she said that I can exchange or have a credit but when I went back after one hour, the customer service didn't accept to exchange or give me credit, and she was very mean.
This is my favorite Goodwill in Calgary in terms of book selection. They have several shelves filled, and the books are in relatively good condition. They are also well organized and cared for. Goodwill also implemented a new price scheme whereby most books are only $2.50, which is an absolute steal!
It's one of racist goodwill, workers do shout to few customers I Bering one of the few who are underlooked, there are good things but it's very scaring. Most of the workers are white not real white but they are from Asia and middle East few of blacks but one of the two who was a cashier was like Hellfire That's all I can say about that place.
I always thought Goodwill was a place to get some good deals on used stuff. I had a look at some of their electronics they had there. I was blown away at some of the prices they had on some of their stuff in the "electronics" area. I seen a old VHS machine for $45.00. There was a old set of house speakers for $200.00 I'm talking OLD school pioneers. If I'm going to spend $200 for a old set of speakers I might as well spend another $50 on Market Place on Facebook and get some pretty good stuff. Another example they wanted $200 on a OLD Pioneer amplifier The amplifier and Speakers were definitely over 10 years old lol. I think that's why they were donated. Not knowing if either of them work! They told me I can bring them back within 7 days for a store credit. "No Thanks! " The stuff is donated so why price that stuff so high? I would mabey take a chance if they were priced accordingly. All of their electronics are way Over Priced! I also just had a quick look around and came to a conclusion I might as well shop at Walmart or the Dollarama! Fair warning just because it's a thrift store doesn't mean you're getting a deal! Clothing seems to be alright prices. Even still you could buy that T-shirt at Walmart for sometimes the same as a used one in this Goodwill. Sad really because I like to Supporting their cause. I wont be going back anytime soon. 3 stars in my opinion only because I didn't look at everything.
I would like to voice my frustration and dismay over your recent store policy to not allow single parents and their children the opportunity to shop. While several groups of 3-4 people were all together ahead of us (all of whom were allowed to enter without question) Myself and two young children waited inline outside in the rain for over half an hour, only to be turned away at the door. The manager was incredibly rude to us which added insult to injury. The suggestion that I should hire a babysitter to shop at a thrift store is ludicrous. Many of the people your business claims to help and support are struggling greatly as a result of the pandemic. I fail to see how turning away mothers and their children from your store front perpetuates your mission statement. What I'm hearing is that under the reduced occupancy mandate, having more paying customers than not is the focus of corporate head office. Where is the good will in that? Why not impose shopping time limits when there are lines rather than discriminating against and alienating those who need your help the most. Many people do not have family support they can count on and not everyone can afford or even find extended child care. I hope that this message will be forwarded onto the decision makers so that they might understand the impact this restriction is having on the community they assert to serve. *Note that I tried to send this message to GW Alberta privately through their website, but was prompted with the following error message "We're sorry, the text you entered for this field contains blacklisted words". I would like to know what exactly the black listed words are that I have used in this complaint and why are you censoring what people can say in private comments to customer service (outside of swears and threats). Unbelievable.
Love this goodwill, however the parking situation has always been bad; now it’s really bad. Prepare to street park now since the animal clinic and car rental company have taken 3/4 of the lot. A lot of confusion and tight corners in the lot makes it hard for people driving to see and will likely result in accidents.
Heads up! They changed their hours for donation drop off but apparently decided not to bother changing them online. Loaded up my car and drove all the way down there just after 5pm (thinking they would be taking donations until 7pm) only to find the door locked and a sign simply taped to the door saying the hours were temporarily changed.
M-S 10am-5pm are the hours for donation drop off now.
This is a well organized thrift shop that often has some higher end items. It has a small selection of furniture, wall art and office items. There is a lot of clothes, and a designer section available to poke through.
Found lots of good stuff at a really good price! Lots of art! They gave us boxes to take our loot home too as we were just out for a walk when we thought to check it out!
Their covid response is alright. I did not immediately notice any sanitizer (or I have selective seeing) but they did have notices to wear a mask and social distance before entering the store.
Good sized store lots of areas for gentle used items. Staff are generally helpful. (I only went to pick up an already purchased item, I did no shopping or walkthrough myself; only what I could see).
I would go back to have a look around though. Good location right next to McLeod trail and residential area.
Open right now with excellent covid protocols. Always a great place with wonderful finds. This thrift store is effectively organized with lovely displays. Super friendly and helpful staff. Easy access for disabled persons.
Front desk staff are not nice. Understandably dressing rooms are closed right now but you cannot return anything. They don't tell you unless you ask. And then she rudely said its on the entrance but it isn't. It just says dressing rooms are closed.
Horrendously rude staff. Just told me to leave my backpack outside the front door and refused to allow me to leave it at the till.
Told me "get out of here we don't need your money" when I suggested I had money to spend and just want to leave my bag at the till instead of on the ground outside where my items can be stolen.
Absolutely horrible customer service. Search the temp agency for a new greeter.
Store tends to get a bit cluttered but cant beat this place to find bargains on books normally over $30 at Chapters or the odd hard to find dvd usually in mint condition for a used item.
I haven't been here forever I was there the other day, I will start coming back again, by the way whoever mention brand name shoes cost $300 sounds crazy. I live close to this area good walking distance for me. I like the stuff they have here good prices, can be over price too, I'm here to say as the shoppers its not overprice. I'm a bargain shopper I know if something is overprice or not.
The best thrift store in the town. Always plenty of new items, and they don't wait so long. Clean store with professional and kind staff, huge parking lot.
I am a thrift store regular, but my experience at this location was horrible. I wanted to buy a pair of pants, but their change rooms are closed (fair for Covid) but when I asked how many days there are for exchange so I could try them on. It's all sales final. I asked the manager for more info and why? She responded with "it's policy, because it's used merchandise" and said the phrase to me "buyer beware! " I was astounded. At least sympathize with me, come up with a solution. Don't throw "buyer beware" at me! All other thrift stores in the city either allow try-ons or returns. Won't be back.
The new Manager Stephanie is awesome she gives the bestest deals she will mark down anything! I dont like the new blonde supervisor, when i am shopping she is always walking around and gets in my way when we need 2 be social distancing! I come in often and now i see all the same stuff not as good as it used to be but now it’s like they’re giving stuff away! I got a coffe machine brand new worth over 300$ For 20 bucks! Also 200 buck chairs and got them for 20 after asking for a discount! My house looks great! Kind of sad to see it go bad but happy i get good deals!
The scam is in here! Charging nearly 20-30% less then brand new items is a joke! I will not donate here any more the way they mark your items up which is suppose to be helping the less fortunate not the CEOs pockets! Now come on people wake up and boycott every Goodwill until they change their ways!
The older lady manager who wears glasses with dark hair is rude and follows people around. There prices have gotten ridiculous for the stuff they sell. Also there is some very rude staff members who work here especially that young woman with the glasses and the high pitched voice. So many better thrift stores in the area including value village
Bumper to bumper aggresive shoppers made this place less than enjoyable. And with that traffic came product strewn about and herder to find. Many newcomers being " old street market pushy" had me opt to hunt for deals elsware.
