Calgary Co-op Oakridge Food Centre

Mislabeled or mispriced items and having to review my receipt every time before leaving the store is getting old. I expect a better shopping experience for the higher prices. My most recent experience with mislabeled GF pizza will be my last shopping trip to this store.

I've been coming here for years. Priduce is usually good but, like all stores, can have their off days. All staff are great and always have friendly convos while they maintain efficiency.

The trade-off for Co-op's higher prices used to be the promise of better service. Nowadays if you put your bag on the belt along with your groceries, the cashier looks at you as if you threw a dead skunk at them and tosses the bag onto the counter behind them with the expectation for you to pack it yourself. Far too often the staff manning the self checkout area wander about visiting with their colleagues instead of keeping track of what's going on at the self checkout stands. Some of the staff act as if you've ruined their day simply by entering the store although to be fair there are several who make a reasonable effort to provide quality service. 1-star because the location is convenient, another star because I appreciate how the store highlights locally and regionally produced products on the shelf labels. It's really only the convenience of the location (and my own laziness) that keeps me from going to other stores more often.

The staff are great, always friendly and helpful! The prices are competitive with Sobie, s and Safeway but more expensive than Superstore. Not sure why the Co-op's board is so greedy, they don't seem to understand that they are gouging their shareholders.
Since my original post I now shop primarily at Kevin's no frills.

I seem to be coming here more. They Produce to me is the Best. It's always Fresh and all the different kinds.
I just Love going here. Also the Bakery, the Buns are to DIE for, (LOL)

Price gauging here is ridiculous. I'm comparing prices and there nuts or any coop. Just one example, Annies Pasta is $5.49 at coop. It's 3 at superstore and often I see it on sale for $2. Grocery store set the prices. Shame in all yo coops for price guaging us hard working Canadians. Shame

The parking lot is getting busier and tighter. I avoid going to this mall now because of the recent increase in traffic.

Ever since Calgary co-op dumped FCL as supplier of co-op products everything seems to have gone downhill. If we wanted to shop at Savon foods, we would I am pretty much finished with them after decades of membership.

I use my own nylon fabric shopping bags everywhere I go but this store charges “compost bag” penalties regardless. Not impressed.

Coop ads don't match up with closing stores that seniors moved here because of proximity to the coop!

The salmon fillet we bought smelled awful, we had to throw it away. The expiration date does not match the label. Thank you, now I have an aversion to fish: (

Meat and bread products are expired before getting in fridge. Garbage pricing. Rip the community off some more with your expired food at high cost.

My only complaint about this store is "WHY" some dufas just chose to reverse the front doors' entrance and departure, obviously at the top office. Usually, the right side is the entrance and the left side the exit. Unless you go to Wally World to shop. Why then is this suddenly going the other way? And without any prior announcement of this change by signage or otherwise? All it is doing is confusing everyone, especially the elderly and disabled people like myself who frequently buy here.

One stop supermarket, financial services, medical services location. First class liquor store. Gas bar, touchless car wash. Free parking. Boston Pizza restaurant and bar onsite.
January 2023. In process of complete overhaul. New professional building. Parking lot rebuilt. Grocery store to be completely replaced, multiple unit residential towers planned.

Nice people, helpful and courteous. Samantha was a pleasure to deal with at customer service.

Well stocked with lots of selection. Good produce. A nice grocery store. My only complaint is the price. Things are a little more expensive than elsewhere. If you're a member you're supposed to get money back each year, but I don't know how much or if it would compensate for the higher prices.
