For anyone who applies for a kitchen job here, I’d definitely consider going for therapy before and after working for Cindy. She has no regards to home situations when things come up unexpectedly and will fire you without a doubt. 0/10 do not recommend working for Cindy McPhee

I was forced to stay at the Drop in for 28 days. The place was Filthy 2nd floor and third floor. I personally had 3 cell phones stolen from there. The place is full of Cameras, the Staff would do nothing to help me get my property returned. The value was 1000 dollars. The drop Staff seem to seem to give some form of protection to Meth Addicts. Each time a cell phone went missing a certain staff member was working his name is Rob. I knew this character from years ago, I do believe he had something to do with the missing phones. If I could prove it I would handed him over to police. 3 days before I left back to B. C. I witnessed a cell phone being stolen by a meth Addict. I reported it to staff, they didn't care. SERIOUSLY they didn't care.

The only Gem I could find in this horrible Setting was a staff member named Marjorie, she was Amazing.
I don't feel the drop in is a safe place for people (only a safe haven for Meth Addicts). If you need to stay in a shelter try the mustard seed, it's safe clean nobody using drugs.

The drop in used to help guys get work tickets, work boots, provide some Temp Employment. It doesn't provide those services anymore.
I couldn't give this place a star rating because of how disfunctional it is.
Stay away from this place, if you donate think twice. I was forced to give it 1 star. Still to high of a rating.see you soon about those cell phones, see you in court Drop in

Super visor will throw u under bus also working conditions are appauling no stab proof vests. Lack of communication from coordinator to security supervisor they will assign a shift and miscommunicate on dates and try to right u up when you question them.also no leniency even during training. Only half hour brake in a 12 hour shift which isn't legal according to labor standards. Also coordinator will say 23.50 starting but the real wage is 22.50 sadly not enough for the ptsd and traumatic events you'll c inalienable a daily basis.

If you are reading this, they always need volunteers. Sign up online for breakfast, lunch and dinner service. God bless

Great place, I love the work they're doing. I only wish they got more attention and funding, the facility itself is pretty run down, but thats to expected when you're funded mostly through donations. I sincerely hope every individual who has had to take up residency here is able to find their way back to a stable and comfortable life.

I mean. It's not the safest, cleanest, sober homeless shelter. But the staff here by far make up for it. They are absolutely angels and I absolutely HATE how people treat the staff! They are way under staffed but do NOT deserve what they have to deal with and go through. And it's a place to sleep, eat, shower, laundry, get clothing, housing, and much more. So you really can't should have no reason to complain.

I walked in as a distraught parent, was provided no information but was allowed to leave a note.
I had never experienced anything like what I saw and bawled in their parking lot. How is this happening in a first world country. How are our children being lost in places like this. I am grateful they provide shelter and basic needs but WOW. We watched an overdose and naloxone administration in front our our eyes.we as society need to do better.these are parents, children, friends.the staff we encountered were compassionate and friendly. I gave it this rating because I don’t know enough about the inside to rate it higher … bless all who work and volunteer here

Lots of "Dropping In" ABSOLUTELY NO REHAB"!
They actually give people bubble pipes at the main entrance?
Just a warm place for junkies to do thier dope. They take their pipes up stairs, where the drug dealers are. Then go smoke their shi* in the washrooms. The place should be demolished!

Drop In center provides a number of services especially to the vulnerable population in Calgary as well as new Canadians

It provides shelter and safe haven for those who are in the drug scene. Like wise there is support and mechanisms for those who aspire to quality of life

So they wake you up at 5: 30 am. No work programs. Small beds. Violent people. So happy that I’m in a nursing home. Spent a night in the foothills shelter. It was the same.
Spoke to a couple of residents that stayed there. Thanks but no thanks.

An absolute blight on the town. Nothing but chaos from here and this sort of facility should be on the edge of town to keep the street people away from regular citizens.

Once again the Drop In Center saved me from sleeping out in the cold, or worse passing out drunk on the ccold downtown concrete. Whenever I lose my bearings I seem to end up there, some guy from the DOAP team made sure I went there before freezing totally. The nurse did everything possible to prevent the onset of infection and frostbite, rather painful when fingers swell from the cold. Thank you for the food, shelter, and clothing.cheers to the cool guys who helped mopping up, if only every cell had a tablet,

It was pretty tough getting woke up at like 4am and I slept on the second floor. Was in the lime up for coffee and was trying to let a old man go first when this person started jabbing me in the back I turned around and said what he started hopping around like he was going to fight me then I looked behind me and this big fat lady behind the counter was screaming at me so I left only to come back that night and find out I was kicked out
Ps I had even previously volunteered twice for lunch time and was in the kitchen prepping meals for the lunch line in hopes of maybe not going hungry since I also lived there and it didn't really work

Never thought I would become a client at this location.when things went south for me, this is where I lived while I got back to being able to live at a place I could call home.it was a place to sleep, eat, get clothing, and help from the staff. Prior to Covid, there was a lot of us there, when Covid took off, we ware dispersed to different parts of the city. 60+ of us located to the westend of the city and then to the sw for final placement in our own rentals.through out the process we were helped by the staff. To be candid, as a former "homeless person" I saw many acts of kindess from people who would come in and serve meals pre-covid or drop off food, clothing etc outside the Drop-in over xmas. On the flip-side i saw the seedier parts of what happens to people who have lost everything and only care for drugs etc. It is not easy, and to be kind you have to have a plan to get out of this environment. With the help of the staff, alot of us have our own places, employment or are starting our own businesses. We don't ask for much, just an opportunity to contribute to society. You woujld be surprised on how much "kindness" means to us. To know we are not the forgotten people. That small act of charity made a difference for me and my future.

Dropped off 10 bags of clothes during the cold snap we had. They literally started handing it out as we were unloading it. Keep up the great work!

Well anybody that has read my reviews before knows that I have a service dog because I am permanently disabled and I live on a very slim income but I am grateful for what I have! I got referred to the Calgary drop-in furniture program from the social worker at my hospital where I go to see my psychiatrist it was awesome they had such cool stuff that people have donated. I was really amazed at the quality of the stuff they had really nice! And I mean the staff was so awesome they helped us so much and getting our things together we only had an hour and it was a strict time of it cuz I have so many people coming and going that we had to rush but we had workers helping us all the way. So if you're going to donate furniture or any kind of housewares take it there they don't charge anything for it they give it to the people that need it and trust me it is very much appreciated I seen so many people walking out of there with huge Smiles on their faces and trust me a lot of days it's hard to smile. Keep it up Calgary you're doing an awesome job of looking after your own!

DI serves a huge purpose in community a lot of people don't understand about shelters in society. My case in this ongoing hostage scenario, sabotaged from gainful employment, systematically robbed and frauded. No Human or Civil Liberties, unfortunately I'm relegated to shelter system. No end in site.

Awesome place to eat, sleep, get clothing see a nurse, find a job, find a place to work. Staff are kind compassionate, non judgemental.
27 December 2019 2:06
Staff are incredibly experienced and very friendly and helpful also can access great community resources here
24 December 2019 23:00
Needed to print off resume for job searching, they helped me do that, also they help with furniture when you move in a new place, get a referral form and fill it out! Also got a clothing room around the side of the building, don't know what hours though, you have to ask them!
13 December 2019 6:55
It's an ok place to access services, if you find yourself at the other end of the spectrum, in poverty and homeless, but guard you're belongings well, the thieves are very quick and ruthless!
09 December 2019 21:24
There is a time in my life when I was in need of assistance with food and shelter. I humbled myself and walked through the doors to this place. I'm truly grateful for its existence. The staff were genuinely helpful, conscientious, and caring towards me.

I’m a striving artist and have put it all on the line for my dreams. The drop-in centre has t been there for me as of late to help me out with what I need given then services provided. It isn’t easy to feed myself right now since money is precarious as I build my brand/name, so I am grateful for the meals I receive from the drop in and the gloves I use to try and keep my art work tidy.

One day, when I make it, I’m going to give back in a big day to this place that feeds me when I’m hungry as I pursue my purpose.
29 November 2019 9:48
Worked there for a bit. Showed up to the wrong staff meeting with the executives and upper staff. They were all laughing and having a great time! Not concerned one bit about the well being of the people staying there or the floor staff. Great to see the executives profiting off of the funding that is supposed to be going to help homeless and sick people. Calgary Drop-In & Rehab, more like Calgary Drop-In & Cash Grab!
24 November 2019 18:16
I worked here and absolutely loved my job. I left because of personal reasons but have to say that from what I seen in my two years of employment there that they are beyond a shadow of a doubt the most caring and loving people I've ever met. The staff bend over backward for their clients and give all they have to make someone else's life a little better. If your a compassionate person and not afraid to work hard I would highly recommend working for the DI. Love mends all wounds and the DI truly does love people.
13 November 2019 16:05
If your down and out and need a compassionate hand, if your looking for a way out and ready to work it.they are there.
29 October 2019 10:18
A place that is still helping homeless Calgarians, despite City Council's efforts to sweep them out of the East End.
16 October 2019 3:53
There are some staff here that do care about clients but alot of em should not be working here if they are just here for the pay check. Alot of inhumane things happen in this building. People having to be kicked out in the cold with nothing. People being held against their will. People not meeting their daily needs cuz small percent of staff care about treating the clients like human beings and helping them with those needs. There are alot of people that need medical service every day and should be in a home. I think every staff member should be required to stay here atleast a week to understand how hard daily living here is. Thank you very much to the staff that work with their hearts.
07 October 2019 11:11
Not the Best place to be when you want to go back to work and find an appartment. Besides that it is good cause you dont need to pay rent and you eat 3 times à day. Thank you for taking me in on the 4th of august!
02 October 2019 22:30
Always crowded with people taking drugs on the street and camping out. A lot of issues around the area.
08 September 2019 11:25
This is an excellent organization with dedicated people helping others less fortunate. Nothing but a 5 is deserved.
28 October 2018 3:24
Free clothing for low income people they also have showers and you can do your laundry here. You can get three meals a day here and all of your hygiene products that you need. They also have a program that you can take where you can receive 16 tickets towards getting a good job here in Calgary. They include tickets like whimis, fall protection awareness, confined space awareness, lock out tag out, lift truck awareness, h2s alive, csts, transportation of dangerous good, toxicology and so on they have woodworking classes and they are over all a good company.
