The service was very good. The room was excellent. It was really nice to be able to walk indoors to the adjacent Milestones restaurant for dinner. The only bad note was the lack of parking at the hotel. The only way to avoid Calgary's outrageous parking accessibility was to take valet parking at an additional cost of $40 per day. There are lots of hotels with parking, where i could have taken a taxi to dinner for less.
Perfect staff. Of course the rooms were great, its the downtown Marriott.this review is aimed at the professional, handy, calm, and inventive people that keep this place rated 5 stars by more than just me!
Had a great night here for our staff Christmas party. Room was nice and spacious. Bed and pillows were super comfortable. The food was great for dinner and brunch the next day, however, it did take over an hour to get the food after ordering. Really not acceptable for breakfast food.
My sister and I were excited to have our first staycation together in over 3 years, however the stay was tarnished with all of the effort we had and continue to have to put in over our parents wanting to do something nice for us. My dad called the Marriott to surprise us and send us up a bottle of champagne with room service and they said they’d charge him $120 which he was happy to do. My sister and I came back to our room after having a nice dinner out to a nice surprise of La Marca Prosecco - which we were happy about not knowing that my dad had called asking for a bottle of champagne. My dad called us asking if we had received a bottle of champagne, but we had received Prosecco. No big deal - we figured we would just get it reversed upon checkout as it was at most a $50 charge. Well after first trying to charge ME on my bill $120 for ‘champagne’ and the manager claiming to only charge $50 for the champagne, and after multiple calls with the management to fix something so seemingly simple… my Dad just looked at his credit card statement and he has been charged $120 for ‘champagne’ as well. This has been the worst customer service I’ve ever received at a Marriott. Trying to rectify something so simple shouldn’t be so difficult with multiple calls and follow up. Will never be back or recommend anyone I work with to stay at this Marriott. I rarely write reviews and only stay at Marriotts but this was so shady thinking that we wouldn’t figure out that we were getting Prosecco when champagne was purchased and consistently never refunded. The crazy thing is that we weren’t even wanting a full refund of the champagne but to pay for the Prosecco that we consumed and that is too hard for them to do.
Stayed here on the last night of Banff trip before back to the states early in the AM. I was pleasantly surprised by the customer service and attention to detail of our stay there, even though we it was short. Andrew did a great job of making our trip feel special (even more than the staff at both Fairmont Banff Springs and Chateau).
Checked in at this hotel this weekend, and we were fortunate to get a corner room at the 7th floor - a perfect place to watch the northern lights display at the nearby Telus Sky building. The electronics light show depicts the Aurora borealis.
The hotel is a perfect place for tourists to visit the city center because of it's very convenient location - landmarks like the Peace Bridge is just a few blocks away (the Calgary Towel is just across the street, as well).
Tried the Peri Peri chicken at their inhouse restaurant, and it was delicious and even better than Nandos chicken (another peri peri chicken available in the city).
Locals Tip: When checking in at this hotel, park at the Telus Convention Centre because it is cheaper than the valet parking at the hotel (to be fair though, I heard of only good things about their valet service). When we checked in this weekend, we payed $10 for parking, as compared to the $25 valet parking at the hotel. Parking at Telus is also covered, so it is ideal especially during winter.
Downtown Marriot hotel located in the heart of downtown Calgary. Steps from Stephen Avenue. Excellent service and great rooms. Found nothing to complain about.
Stayed 2021-11-27 King bed room on 22 floor Nice rooms, large space with a couch and view. Bathroom is large and spacious. The facilities are good, nice lobby with huge fireplace and Starbucks, didn't eat at the restaurant, gym had sufficient equipment, didn't use the pool. Staff are extremely kind and provide excellent service, helped with the gym, late checkout, parking. Also just nice friendly people. Would stay again.
Nice hotel downtown Calgary with good amenities. Only downside was my room didn't come with a proper desk to work at which isn't ideal traveling for business. Not sure if this is standard in all rooms but something to confirm if you need a desk. Starbucks downstairs and restaurant as well. Good central location.
I loved this hotel, had a amazing view of Calgary. Could just ever so see the mountains in the distance, was a lovely treat for myself. Busses can pick you up here to take you to Banff so that’s why I stayed and I had a lovely experience.
We enjoyed our stay. The concierge were always friendly and courteous and they always brought up our requests for towels, ice etc promptly. The lights in the bathroom died on us but that was also fixed quickly.
The hotel itself is good - standard business hotel in a good location. However, we encountered a lot of inconvenience during our stay in this hotel. Firstly, the parking situation in this hotel is very inconvenient. You have to either park somewhere near or avail of the valet service. The battery of our door lock mechanism also died in the middle of our stay and the receptionists did a terrible job of handling that situation. We had to go up to our floor and down to the lobby three times. And, when they finally figured out it was the battery, they told us to wait in front of our room instead of just making us take seats in the lobby while they actually fix the situation. It took several minutes before the maintenance came and we were just standing in front of our room. The shower knob in that room we stayed in was also busted. We couldn’t control the water temperature and were left with just either too cold or too hot. The only good thing was the bed being very comfortable. Obviously, we won’t be with staying in this hotel again in the future.
Honestly I wanted to have good things to say about the hotel but it got worse and worse. Me and my partner stayed here over the weekend of 10-12 September and it was simply a horrible experience. The hotel staff were pushy and seemed to be in a huge rush, not to mention disregarded any semblance of personal space (IE coming around the counter and plexiglass to speak to us). Not to mention that at the price we paid there was no breakfast included, I've had better treatment at cheap scuzzy motels than here.
The room was not cleaned to any kind of professional standard, the tub had soapscum, the mirrors had handprints, and the remote had oil buildup in the buttons. And on top of everything the room is supposed to come with coffee and of the three packets, only one actually had coffee in it, meaning it wasn't actually checked.
My only positive takeaway from my time was the Valet. Super reasonably priced, 24 hours a day, and super polite staff. If I was writing a review for them it would be 5 stars for sure, alas as the rest of my experience was utterly miserable 1 star.
Very modern and elegant hotel. I would say this hotel has done an incredible job in updating its image and being a top of the line hotel. While a notch below the true high luxury hotels, at the price point and experience this is a fantastic hotel choice. Great customer service and clean.all the things you want in a 4 star level of hotel. Good views and location. I wish the parking was included at some level of stay given how expensive it is to have a valet. This should be a perk for higher status users. Otherwise no complaints. Very good restaurant on premises.
I went there 2 weeks ago but the experience was not the best. The fire alarm sounded twice and I was working. I lost 2 hours of working and no body gave me back this money. When the alarm sounds we had to leave the building and I was having meetings online. If you want to relax I don't recommend to go there.
Had a quick bite in the lobby lounge and the queso dip was awesome. Definitely something to stop in for. Prices are average for down town Calgary but was definitely a quality item.
We booked for one night and unfortunately we reached around 4am next morning. Manager gave us complementary hour to check-out. Room service was quick. Clean and calm rooms. We loved it
It is a good location in downtown, staff are nice. One star is because of the valet parking, apparently they’re too short staff there. We always give at least 30mins notice but over two days of the stay, waited at least 1.5 hours total in the lobby for my car.first day of stay I texted for the car to be ready in 30mins, also tried to call to let the valet parking staff know, but there is no answer to the phone and they told us text them to let them know and give them sometime to prepare, which is very reasonable and we did. Then after 30mins I went down to the front entrance and didn’t see the car, the staff said he forgot to check the phone.so i waited 20mins for the car; on our check out day, I give another 30mins notice and after check out, siting in the lobby and waited 45mins for the car to arrive
It’s 11: 30 pm as I’m writing this review and fire alarm going crazy loud in this hotel. My infant’s sleep is disrupted and I feel extremely angry with the management of this particular hotel and Marriott in overall. It’s the second time in a row false alarm going off. Before that I saw water leaking from the ceiling in the lobby. Terrible place, terrible experience so far. I wish I would’ve booked a cheaper hotel, anything is better than this one
Lovely staffs with excellent service. Problems were solved very soon, and tried their best to help customers. However, this buildings' sound insulation is so bad, I can even heard what was the neighbor doing, and the noise outside annoyed me for every night.
Hotel location was good But be aware in this hotel you have to pay for wifi usage Car parking Some room taxes and Gst There was no breakfast They over charge for stuff you might need in the middle of the night like water foods drinks at the counter First and last time to be here Overall it was not bad except they can post heads up on their website telling what you will get when you pay Staff are friendly and welcoming Place was clean
Wouldn't store my luggage even had a couple of other hotels store my luggage though I was waiting for a shuttle using the hotel as a Depot their are friendly and cheaper hotels in Calgary
Check out the pictures below I've got the room for 7 days to spend part of my quarantine, so no room service and no cleaning the room or bath, they gave me some dumbells to work out that's the only good thing. After I complain about the room I got a promise to give me some discount but never happened.
We were given the top most floor of the building and were expecting a nice view from up there. Even though the view was okay, the window were extremely dirty on the outside which made it hard to enjoy the view. Convenient location overall and the people here are nice. Would have been great if the windows were properly cleaned.
Service and experience was amazing, top notch. Everyone from the minute I arrived to the time I left was super friendly and helpful. The hotel itself was immaculate and stunning. The whole stay was a pleasure. Would definitely want to stay there my next trip to Calgary.
The place is nice, comfortable and clean. Location in downtown is superb. Have river, park adjacent to it and LRT and all the downtown is at walking distance. Plenty of restaurants in vicinity.
We recently held our company Christmas party here. The staff that organized it were great, the staff that reach the event on the day of were very professional and were always looking to see if there was anything they could do to make everyone have a good time. The food was good and tasty which can sometimes be a challenge for large groups. The only thing I would have changed is I would have had more tables out for people to place drinks on during the cocktail hour.
I stay here regularly (recent switch from a nearby competing hotel brand) and gotta say I'm happy with the switch. Clean overall, rooms are comfortable, lounge access (if you have it) is pleasureable, good amenities and breakfast offered in there. My one and only gripe.the lavender or whatever it is that is fumagated in the lobby area! It is mad strong and consuming. Needs to be toned down in my opinion but otherwise no other complaints. Staff are smiley and great to deal with thus far. Thanks guys!
The rooms here are very nice, well designed and comfortable. The staff was great too, especially Yanti at the front desk. You can park much cheaper in the Palliser Parcade across 9th street, as long as you don’t need in/ out.
I always enjoy my stay at the Marriott. The rooms are pretty and the service is excellent. Anytime something has gone wrong they try very hard to make up for it, which makes me feel confident staying here.
Great customer service and clean rooms. Only complaint is the bathroom deal is tempered glass, so if someone turns on bathroom light during the night, it makes the whole bedroom night and woke me up.
Make the most of your stay by staying in Marriott. Great friendly staff with good customer service skills and they made my stay amazing by giving me highest floor as I requested even in busiest time. I had best views and I could stay very close to Calgary Tower. Most of the downtown fun was located close to the hotel at the walking distance. Thus, it was a perfect spot for me. I will stay there again!
My son registered for 1 night, Saturday, March 25,2017. He was due to check out Sunday, March 26th. He died in room 803 that night. Clearly he did not check out on Sunday when he was supposed to. He was not found until 5: 30 pm that Sunday evening. I want answers, and I will not stop until I get them.
