Nice place to visit and not to play. When you stand in the queue to enjoy a particular game and that will be suspended when you reach near to that play One.
So much fun for people of all ages! The rides are great fun. Food is delicious, and a huge variety. You could spend so much time here. Nashville North was great for dancing with friends! Musical acts are pretty popular as well. Saw Sheryl Crow a few years back for free. Such an amazing memory! Hoping to make it back here again in the future.
People are friendly, security is serious with COVID measures. If you are an anti-vaxxer or anti-masker you will not be allowed entry. Floor is a bit sticky inside the arena but the hockey game was fun and safe. Very bright. Is a tad bit cold bring a sweater when visiting. Wouldn't recommend heels as with the cement stairs it's safer with flats or sneakers
Love the Calgary Stampede-always a good experience! Have been attending every year since 2011. Glad to see them come back from COVID in 2021-hopefully they'll be back to normal for 2022!
Unfortunately I wasn’t here for the rodeo. I came from the States for a work trip and swung by to check it out. The facility is quite large. I can only imagine how awesome the rodeo is here. The Calgary Stampede is an annual rodeo, exhibition, and festival held every July in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The ten-day event, which bills itself as "The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth", [3] attracts over one million visitors per year and features one of the world's largest rodeos, a parade, midway, stage shows, concerts, agricultural competitions, chuckwagon racing, and First Nations exhibitions. In 2008, the Calgary Stampede was inducted into the ProRodeo Hall of Fame. [4]
The event's roots are traced to 1886 when the Calgary and District Agricultural Society held its first fair. In 1912, American promoter Guy Weadick organized his first rodeo and festival, known as the Stampede. He returned to Calgary in 1919 to organize the Victory Stampede in honour of soldiers returning from World War I. Weadick's festival became an annual event in 1923 when it merged with the Calgary Industrial Exhibition to create the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede.
Organized by thousands of volunteers and supported by civic leaders, the Calgary Stampede has grown into one of the world's richest rodeos, one of Canada's largest festivals, and a significant tourist attraction for the city. Rodeo and chuckwagon racing events are televised across Canada. However, both have been the target of increasing international criticism by animal welfare groups and politicians concerned about particular events as well as animal rights organizations seeking to ban rodeo in general.
Calgary's national and international identity is tied to the event. It is known as the "Stampede City", carries the informal nickname of "Cowtown", and the local Canadian Football League team is called the Stampeders. The city takes on a party atmosphere during Stampede: office buildings and storefronts are painted in cowboy themes, residents don western wear, and events held across the city include hundreds of pancake breakfasts and barbecues.
A big 5 YAAA-Hooo's The Calgary stampede never fails to disappoint I just love the atmosphere there. I've been going to the stampede for over 40 years and I have never been disappointed. It's such a great place to go with your family or even if you are just browsing around alone. I was a little disappointed that the food court wasn't opened this year but I can appreciate why. Covid-19 messed it all up for us. This year was one of the best fireworks shows that I have seen in many many years I didn't think it was going to stop. I would highly recommend seeing the Terry Stokes hypnotizing show.
I had lots of fun this year. Maybe because we had good company and it was a good break from all the pandemic restrictions. Enjoyed the dog show and the drum and bugle band.
Wow. First time in 12 or so years. So many people. So much food. Lots of rides, sounds, lights and amazing fireworks. Glad to see many people still masking up to be safe. Got to taste lots of samples, a quick free massage and lots of creative artwork. How do you decide what you want to eat first? Food however is quite expensive otherwise so choose wisely. Will try and go again next year when i have more time to spend and maybe more to see.
In third grade, my class had to pick a state or province and do a project on it. I got Alberta and wanted to visit ever since. One magical day, I found myself on the phone with a woman who lived there who asked if I had heard of Calgary Stampede. I had not and she proceeded to explain it in great detail.
At 27 years old, I decided right then and there I was going to go to the next Calgary Stampede.
I ended up taking a friend on the 2,000 mile road trip. When we arrived at the gates, I was expecting to pay at least $20 to get in was surprised it equalled to about $3. The rest of the day was a whirlwind of art, music, vendors, cowboy outfits, rodeos, and sheer child-like glee.
It was all well organized and managed and every where you looked, there was something interesting or fun.
I will be going back and bringing all my American friends along. One should truly experience this event.
The food was amazing but overpriced for what you get and the rides are super overpriced, carnivals are medium-range but the carnivals are mostly scams especially the red star shooter but the dog show was very awesome!
Great went for the Tattoo and Fine Arts show. Except with construction going on and no signs showing you were to go. Also security tells u one thing on how to go thru the building another tells you no you can't walk thru the building to get the other side you have to walk outside to get to your parking lot where u parked
Best time of the year for rodeo people as the events at infield are well worth attending. My favorites are the bull riding and the chuckwagons. The midway is fun and colorful at night. The whole city shuts down for the duration of the stampede. No one goes to work, bars are full and breakfast is free. What's not to like
My husband and I went to the drive through Stampede breakfast in Seton today. What a blast! Thank you to all the volunteers Andy’s Stampede people that made this happen. Stampede breakfast covid style. You made it fun.
I would like to take this moment to THANK all the volunteers and security staff for making the Stampede breakfast at South centre an enjoyable experience.
What can I say if you love the old west and some good old yee yee activities or even just a good time overall for all ages everyone is welcome at stampede no matter what look forward to it every year
Annual events like this can be very expensive but if you do a little research before heading down to the Stampede you'll find that there is SO much to experience for the cost of the admission into the park. Of course if you want to see the rodeo or the Chuckwagon races then you will have to dish out the cash, but the entertainment of the rodeo clowns in the afternoon show and the the Young Canadians show after the Chuckwagon races are worth experiencing. Both of those events are great to see but I now find the cost of a decent ticket is far too expensive.
Have been going to the Stampede every year for the last 35 years! Fun for all ages! You always spend way too much money and eat way too much carni-food.but it's once a year and well worth it! Truly the greatest outdoor show on earth!
It's the best outdoors show! There are lots to do at stampede and it is very convienient to enter. There are always special deals for stamede tickets circulating the city. Although the line for the free breakfast is long, the sausages are tasty! I suggest bringing a couple of your friends or a date to enjoy the many features offered at the Calgary Stampede together.
Although I usually do not go to.the Stampede itself, I did enjoy the many associated events that go along with the Calgary Stampede. Traffic as usual was a hassle, but if you're thinking you can find your way around any traffic tie up that you may be faced with. And hey Calgary drivers, how about cutting out visitors some slack when they are obviously lost. Remember that we all travel in other areas that we may not know very well. A smile and a wave in front of you will help our visitors have a more pleasant memory of their visit to our city.jmo
There are just too many positive things to say. A few things I wish I new in advance, dont be afraid to pack a bag to bring with you. I would make sure you have a sweater or coat. Also, dont waste your time driving to the event if you are a tourist. Take an uber or a taxis. The traffic alone will make it worth it.
The Calgary Stampede is a great place to eat awesome food, see some great shows, check out the agricultural exhibits, and do some rides! I would recommend getting a ticket deal ahead of time if you can, Costco does them.
The Calgary Stampede is truly a rodeo thriller for tourists and locals. It’s for everyone of all ages and I encourage that people keep coming to this Canadian fun every summer. I think there is activities for all type of people
Keep your cash and avoid what has become the greatest most expensive tourist trap on Earth. Run by ex cons, priced to the Moon frequented by teenage runaway's. All that and parking costs more than downtown Tokyo. Stay home, burn your money, drink 3 piss warm Budweiser, and sit in the hot sun watching your neighbor wrestle his lawnmower and get the same entertainment value. Used to be good, now just a major.money extraction exercise where pain and rapid cash depletion at every turn is your entertainment. 22 dollars for a smoked turkey leg seems to epitomize the joke this has become.
It was more fun than I thought it would be. The chuck wagon races were fast paced and exciting. Some of the farm and farm product displays were quite interesting.
