I found a badly injured Jack Rabbit a few weeks ago and called Calgary Wildlife Rehab. Their estimated response time was pretty accurate and the volunteer, Crystal, arrived with the necessary tools to catch the bunny. As heartbreaking as it was to see how much pain this rabbit was in, Crystal's empathy, courage, perseverance, and selflessness was incredible. She stuck with the task even though it took hours to catch the rabbit. She later updated us on the status of the rabbit too - they were able to put him to rest. I cannot thank Crystal and the team for all their hard work to protect our wildlife. Thank you so much for all you guys do. Consider donating to this organization, I promise it's worth it!
I found a severely injured hare in the local park that I believe has been eluding help for at least two days.
With the help of another neighbour it was put into a dog crate and I took it to Calgary Wildlife Rehabilitation right away.
I don't believe the hare will have the positive outcome my wife and I would like (it was pretty bad and very tired), but the staff there were amazing and compassionate. We did not make a donation immediately, but we did make one after we discussed it shortly after.
I took in a little savannah sparrow that I came across unable to fly. I called and spoke to a woman right away and was able to bring in the bird immediately. Wildlife rehabs are such important places that provide critical services and are severely underfunded. If you can, please remember to donate if you bring in an injured or orphaned animal as a small “thank you”.
Always helpful. This little guy fell into our window well, and a magpie was after it. We didn't realize what was happening, but when we did, we quickly saved it and called them, and they directed us on how to proceed.
Called in a concern about a goose with twine wrapped tightly around it's ankle, to the point that it could barely put weight on it's leg. By the next day this wonderful team had been able to locate it and remove the twine! Definitely recommend calling them if you see a wild animal in need of help.
