Canmore Inn & Suites

I stayed here November 22,2023 as I was having surgery at the Canmore hospital the next day. I’ve stayed here many times before and this was the worst experience yet. We were in a room so far away it was a hike to get there, and the room was old, very very cold, and had an eerie feeling. It was a Tuesday night and the parking lot was dead. It felt very un necessary to be shoved in the corner in a gross ugly room.

We've stayed here twice now, and really didn't mind it the first time, I think, because we had a front facing room. This time, our room faced the back of the building, and I couldn't sleep. The train that comes rumbling through there all hours of the night is insane.

The rooms are decent, and the staff are friendly. The complimentary coffee and tea bar is a nice touch, too. This French fry in the hallway stayed here our entire stay, so that was weird. I'd just be concerned with getting a room that faced the train tracks again.

We skied Lake Louise one day and then decided that we wouldn’t ski a second day. We checked in at the hotel on New Years Eve and they were completely booked. We were able to get a full refund and decided to have dinner and drive back to Calgary. Harshmen helped us, he was super friendly and never even charged us a cancellation fee. Thank you so much, we will be back next summer. Highly reccomend. I have stayed here twice before.

Hi there I’ll give five stars cause of the people that work here they were awesome! The buffet breakfast I paid 18 bucks for was horrible and cold. Won’t be doin that again. Being on the third floor was a gong show people slamming doors all night and literally screaming down the hallways after midnight. Other than that it wasn’t worth 300 a night EVER. This is a 89.99 hotel a night all day long. Anyways great job to the employees that work here your outstanding and keep up the hard work!

I am not coming back this one.

Very nice hotel, they upgraded my room and the room and hotel were very clean and neat. The only problem I faced is, only a few plug points (phone plug) in the room. Other than everything is fine, the view from outside is awesome. There is a gym, pool, restaurant and more. This hotel is close to Banff. I give 5 stars to Canmore Inn.

We were told only guests booking over the phone were notified. Also there was nothing on the hotel website stating the pool would be closed. When going up to our room the hallway was lined with mattresses and other furniture to the adjacent rooms which we had to weave through and hotel staff had to move furniture for us to be able to access our doorway. We have always loved this hotel but will absolutely be taking our business elsewhere in the future.

This hotel certainly has some of the most inexperienced workers I've ever came across. I booked 2 rooms for myself and family. I booked my room facing the road as I had read bad reviews about the train noise in the rooms facing the railway. The 2nd room, for my mom, was facing the other way as she was on a budget. We requested the rooms to be near each other and also an early check-in at 2pm, and it was nice that they were able to honour the requests, however we were checked-in in in two rooms facing the railway. I went down and requested MY room to be changed accordingly (and I wouldn't mind waiting). The lady took a bit and without communicating she changed both rooms to the road side; my mom didn't want to move as she was already settled and she was scared they were going to charge her for that, so she went down and got her room moved back (There was no need to move her as the rooms were in front of each other). So far so good. We go to check the pool out (which was the only reason we booked this hotel) and the pool was closed. I asked the Front Desk about it and she said it should be closed just for a day, but she wasn't sure. At night they post a sign saying the pool was going to open at 10am. We go to sleep and the beds were super uncomfortable with gigantic holes (but whatever, we are only there for 2 nights). Next morning at around 8: 30-9 there was some people being very loud in front of our door and we thought it was our neighbours partying, but it was just housekeeping (it didn't bother us as we were already awake, but I see how that could've been a big deal for some people). My toddler patiently awaits till 10 to go swimming; we called the FD at 9: 55 to confirm the pool was opening and the lady says the pool will be open at 10. We go down shortly after and the pool is closed with a sign saying it will open at noon; at this point my toddler has a meltdown and we decided to go to the hotsprings instead. We spent the day out and came back to find that our rooms weren't serviced. We called for towels and a conditioner, they bring 4 towels (out of which 3 had huge yellow and black stains) and no conditioner, but another 8 shampoos. At this point I was still considering whether I was going to write a review or not. At check out, my mom's room which was booked for $119 totalling $267 after taxes (this is March 2023) was charged at $129 or $289 after taxes. We nicely showed them our confirmation letter with the right price and the gentleman was just quiet, didn't say a word for a few minutes like we were bothering him and like we were wrong to even talk to him about it, and then he said "so I'm just refunding $13 or whatever? ". (It was $22). Never a "sorry, I'll fix our error".
Anyways. It is a nice please to stay if you are on a tight budget, but overall I'd pay a little more to avoid so many hiccups.
*FYI: My mom, my brother and his wife who stayed on the railway side says they were not able to hear the train at all. While awake they noticed a minor sound which at first they thought was the fridge. But nothing while sleeping. We stayed on the 2nd floor.

Best hotel ever! I’ve stayed at this hotel many times since I was very very young and all the times I’ve stayed here have been super amazing! It’s also good to stay in rooms right next to the train tracks because I am a railfan

I feel so bad for the people that own this place and work here. This place got dealt a bad hand. It’s literally 20ft away from a train track where trains come rolling through every 30mins. And with all the recent train derailments it certainly adds to the excitement… The whole place shakes. And having the only water slide in town you’re attracting every sports team in the Valley. As a result you get a bunch of kids running and screaming in the halls, followed up by some adults doing the same well into the night. Now I sleep like a baby, anytime, anywhere… my wife and our littlest left the very first night and went home.

Very very loud if you stay on the train track side of the hotel, am a light sleeper and was hardly able to sleep

Staff were very friendly and helpful, overall the location was wonderful. Hotel was clean and in good condition.will definitely be coming back.

Staff here are very nice and very easy to deal with, The morning buffet here is very good. Rooms are spacious, large bar fridge, Microwave, waterslide, Arcade for the kids.easy access.

They took my deposit I slept for 4 hours and left they told me oh just go it will be put on your card at 11 am well 1 day later still not there

If you expect a quality hotel and your room made up, look elsewhere. Your room won't be made up unless you request it. Typical worn-out poorly maintained hotel.

Stayed there for two nights (8 families)
Was not an enjoyable stay.
Hottub wasnt working (so only the kids were brave enough to use the cold water pool without a hottub), only half of the game room's game were working, fussball table is out of order, pingpong table broken.
The rooms were overheated so much, internet isn't working somtimes, ice machine wasn't working.

If you got dogs, you can only stay on the Rail road side, which is EXTREMELY LOUD.

We will not go back.

I’m giving a four star rating because the staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was very clean and COVID safe with all of their precautions. The room was a little dated and needs some improvements. You can tell that the rooms are dated and the window wouldn’t shut all of the way because of overuse. The screen could be removed to pull the window in the last inch. The hot tub and pool were very clean and did not look dated. This is a great option for a quick stay in Canmore at an extremely reasonable price point.

The young lady who checked in was very rude, not friendly at all. When we walked into our room, you get hit with cigar smoke smell in your face! The carpets in hallway disgustingly dirty and are rippling bad; an accident waiting to happen. This place has gone downhill since stayed here 3 years ago.

Clean hotel with many rooms and easy to find location.
The hotel has an elevator and the room had a microwave and fridge plus coffee to make in room.

Rate was higher than I would have normally accepted paying had I known we would be on the railroad side. Note the train does go by numerous times a night.
Pool is still open right now - a plus
No complementary breakfast, but it doesn't seem nightly rate is adjusted for that.
Our toilet didn't seem to flush properly, I will let them know as we check out today.
Paid $150 plus tax for a standard two adult room on a Monday in off peak season.

Also I had called before booking to see if we could fit our vehicle and seadoo. The guy had said there was some spots available. I would suggest booking somewhere else if you have a similiar setup, there aren't any pull through spots.

Building is old and not much upgraded from the I guess 80s toilet slow and doesn’t flush properly, the fridge had to replace it twice make too much noise again they were old, The front desk was rude I asked for some plates to eat our food on and they told me to make sure I wash them, bedsheets had hair on them the bed itself had big hole in it.

Older. Place needs work. Carpeting coming up in hallways. No breakfast. Room smelled like smoke.

Canmore Inn is by far one of the best places i stayed on my many trips throughout the mountains. The prices are very reasonable. And the veiw right out you window is great. Newly remodeled pool. Great for the kids, more then friendly staff. Don't leave this one out on your adventures.

My fiancee and I had an absolutely wonderful time staying here. We stayed for a weekend in mid-September and woke up to incredible mountain views. At home we sleep on a memory foam king mattress and I honestly slept better here than at home. There's just something about the mountain air!

Staff was friendly and even accommodated us coming a little bit early for check-in. The room had a mini-fridge too which was great for keeping our snacks fresh before hiking around Canmore and Banff National Park.

I'd definitely recommend the railroad view, which looks onto the Three Sisters mountains.

Disgustingly dirty, had to walk around the sticky dried beer, there was hair from the previous guests all over the bathroom, and the pile of crumbs under the bed was unbelievable. Most $50 hostels would be cleaner.

This hotel was disgusting. The dirtiest I’ve ever stayed in. Aside from the dirty room the hotel is right nest to a railroad track and the train went until very late. Every time someone opens or closes their hotel room door it beeps very loud 5 times people were coming and going at all hours of the night, fights in the parking lot. You hear everything in this hotel!

Spacious, quiet room. Big kitchen space, sink, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and lots of counter and storage space. King bed, couch, tables.great place.

We weren't expecting much based on the price point and TripAdvisor reviews, but we were ignored at check-in, then rushed through by a bored clerk, given no info about the restaurant (never did find out if it was open), and sent to our unclean room. The bathroom hadn't even had a cursory cleaning; a previous occupant's toiletries and hair were all over. The beds were made up strangely, with the flat sheet being used as a duvet cover (?). There was no info about the hotel in the room, and the air conditioner was so loud when it kicked on, that we woke up constantly (it was too hot to turn it off).

Good things: while the room was basic, it was generally adequate in terms of amenities, the pool and hot tub were open, as was the waterslide (which I'm told was great), and the pool had warm towels (but because there was no hotel info in the room, we brought room towels with us). There was a boil water advisory in Canmore during our visit, and we had a note slipped under the door overnight saying it had been lifted. Sadly, that was the high point of their service. Finally, the hotel seemed pretty empty, so it was fairly quiet. Overall, a little disappointing; we'll stay elsewhere next time.

Good. Nice rooms and handy location. Train goes by behind the hotel but I didn't find it too loud. Go to the middle of the hotel and there's chairs with a big window and nice view.

Ridiculous. My bridesmaids booked us in here, needed a credit card to reserve our room. Bridesmaid paid on the day of, but they STILL charged my credit card. Spoke with them twice, the charge still isn't reversed. DO NOT STAY HERE

I was NOT impressed one bit, for the amount it cost for the room. Wallpaper coming off, cabinets look like they come from garage sale (beat up/scratched). Only thing good was the mountain view minus the rail line right outside the window. Seemed like every hr - hr an half. Pool area not maintained very well, shortage of towels. Will not be staying there again

Great staff and the hotel is literally in the middle of everything. And within walking distance from groceries, alcohol, restaurants and coffee shops.
The rooms are spacious and inviting as well.

Nit helpful staff when we requested to change room due to AC not working and we have to stay 4 days in summer hot time. No daily cleaning in room, when asked said due to covid not doing but other hotels in Alberta where we stayed were doing daily house keeping.
Location is good, room is small.
Over all not good experience in this hotel.

Stayed here for the 2nd time this weekend. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. The hotel is a little outdated on the inside but its a great price and it has everything you need.

The room wasn't swept and there was spilled beer on the nightstand and the floor. The room stinks like stale beer, the shower had mold. There were crumbs under the beds.

This feels like a 1 star motel. Really small rooms and extremely outdated. Beds squeak like crazy. Definitely needs to undergo renovations. You can hear every little thing that goes on outside the room. Would not come back.

Edited from 2 star to 1 after discovering they don’t even bother to sweep under the beds… they don’t care about sanitation.

Nice and clean, great hotel for families as they have a pool and waterside as well as an entertainment room. Lovely staff. Only problem was that they put the blanket on the bed way too low, could not get it high enough to cover my arms and shivered all night, and there was no extra blankets in the room

It’s just over 250/night but it’s not a 250$/night hotel maybe 150/night anywhere else in any city but because of its location I agree it’s a 250/ night hotel, it’s old but sturdy, the pluming is old, it has no usb plugging any where, the pool/water slide / hot tub need cleaning or at least a bucket of Clorox, it full of kids, the water is grey and kinda thick. House cleaning needs a better schedule and stay on top of cleaning, I saw the same empty can of beer in the stair way the three days I was there, the same tooth paste cap for two day, doesn’t any one vacume, or is it a once a week thing. I was present when two different people complained about their toilet backing up. Check out morning, mine backed up so, hummmm? Staff was ok, some looked and sounded stressed, the breakfast restaurant was closed till further notice, aperently the staff is stuck out of country due to (you know)!
Id stay here again, not perfect but nothing ever is,

Stayed here for 2 nights with some of my girlfriends. For the price you pay, don’t expect too much. The bathroom had just a standing shower which was on the smaller end. I found myself having my elbows nearly touch the shower’s walls while washing my hair… and you can hear anyone going up and down the hallways.

However, the views are amazing and the place is convenient to get to other places around Canmore. The checkin desk staff were also very friendly.

The air-conditioned is so filthy! Full of dust. I have to clean the fridge as well because water was dripping from the freezer. Bathroom shower has black molds on the edge. Paying for almost $200.00 a night wasn't worth it!

The tv didn't work, the shower was pouring water outside of the shower, the curtains don't close. So at night, the light from the outside shines through.

Pros:
-staff were extremely helpful. When requested, we were provided with extra toiletries and plates/utensils as we wanted to eat our take out meals in our room.
-the room was spacious & clean. They put water bottles in the room for a charge of $2.50
-close to all amenities

Cons:
-train track behind the hotel. The sound from the trains was loud and broke our sleep at night.
-pool and breakfast was closed due to COVID.

We would not stay here again simply because of the loud sound from the train track behind the building.

I'm not going to criticize everything about this hotel, but just know that when you shop for the best deal, like we did, you get what you pay for.

This was one of the worst hotel stays I have ever had in my life. It is understandable that the train would be loud as you are right next to the tracks so I knew what I was getting myself into. The worst part was the people. Slamming doors, screaming and laughing in the halls. People partying into the night. This is a discount hotel so I suppose it attracts a rowdy crowd. People also do not wear masks in the elevators or in the hallways. Definitely not following COVID-19 public Heath precautions. I would not recommend anyone stays here. When I told the front desk about everything they just said “yea, we are sold out this weekend” no apology for the bad experience. If you are looking for a relaxing weekend in Canmore do not stay here!

It was ok we ended up transferring rooms because the first one was not clean. Dirty sheets, food in fridge, hair on toilet and in the shower. I've had a cleaner room in Cuba.

Stayed here this past weekend, and can definitely say we won’t be back. We barely got any sleep all weekend due to, not only the tracks behind the hotel (we were not advised of this and didn’t have a choice due to our pet), but also the paper-thin walls that allowed us to not only hear the dog beside us barking ALL night, but children running up and down the halls at all hours and everything in between.

Our room was not well kept at all; one bed had clear dirt marks, the microwave had a cigarette burn, the bathroom door looked like someone had kicked a hole through it and they just sort of…glued the wood back into place. Found an empty coke bottle and other “ointment bottle” under the beds as well. Showering was akin to sponge bathing due to lack of water pressure (I wish I was joking or exaggerating. The sink would have been faster).

LOTS of people walking around the property without masks on.

Overall, sure we got a decent deal for the weekend price-wise, but if you’re looking for a relaxing stay and hoping to sleep at all, I strongly recommend paying more for a different location.
