Capital Plumbing

Very frustrating experience, this might be long but hear me out. I have a boiler system and reason to believe there is significant scale build-up in the coil.

I asked them to come give me a quote for a water softener and descaling - they originally told me it would be a free quote and then tried to change that to be $100 for a “service call”, which I had to argue to avoid.

The tech was friendly and helpful, price seemed okay, so I agreed to go do the descaling for a fixed price. After about 45 minutes he said he couldn’t do the descaling because he didn’t know if the unit was designed to be descaled, and he admitted he didn’t really do anything for me. He charged me a reduced price but still over $250, and I didn’t think I had any choice. Afterwards I called the boiler manufacturer and in less than 10 minutes found out it would be good to descale it.

Since then I have been trying to get them to do the job properly but they keep putting me off (2 weeks now), with various reasons they couldn’t do it yet or couldn’t confirm a price and then they would just stop calling me back. Finally this morning I was told I would have to pay the full original price on top of what I already paid. I said that was unacceptable because all I am asking is for them to do what they originally said they would do and I am willing to pay the difference. I was told a manager would reach out to me to discuss. Mid afternoon I called again and was told he had just stepped out but would call as soon as he got back. I have not had a call back.

For the 2nd time Capital Plumbing and Heating came to our rescue. They had a tech on site within 2 hours when our furnace gave out. Brett was quick, efficient and friendly. He was very knowledgeable and went over all our options before letting us decide what was the best action to take. He made sure we were set to go before leaving.

I have two properties. I hope you now know how to differentiate which is my personal residence and which is the rental. It is important if you are trying to contact me.

I had been high pressure sale’d by a previous company. Called Capital Plumbing for a second opinion and was blown away. Brett was honest and told me I don’t need a new furnace (today) I will at some point of course, but the honesty was breath of fresh air! The integrity makes Capital Plumbing my only choice. It’s hard to find people / business you can trust when they offer a product you don’t fully understand and can’t do yourself. If Capital Plumbing hires straight shooters like Brett- I trust them. Only wish they could help me with my car too ;)

I’m very very pleased with the work done by Dave and his helpers. They spent two days in my home replacing the poly-B water piping. They knew I wanted minimal damage to my ceilings as they replaced all the water piping to the kitchen and bathrooms and absolutely complied with that request. They were really personable and answered all my questions and concerns. I’d absolutely use them again. They get more than five stars!

Nick showed up to work on what unexpectedly turned out to be a difficult job. His conduct and demeanor were professional considering what a tough fix it turned out to be. Thanks again, Nick.

Couldn't be happier with Capital Plumbing & Heating! I entered and won their September giveaway for a complete furnace inspection service as well as a free AirRanger Whole House Polarized-Media Electronic Air Cleaner. Tom arrived on time within the window I was given and was more than pleasant to have in my home. He took the time to answer any questions I had (there were numerous interruptions on my part) and went over every aspect of how the AirRanger operates, filter replacement as well as informed me of every detail with my furnace that was out of manufactures spec as he was correcting them! My furnace is original to the house (15years old) and Tom was quite surprised by that as when he showed me pictures of my heat exchangers he was impressed with how "gun metal" the color of them were as well that there was no cracks or discoloration to them. Total duration for the visit was a little over 3 hours I believe, the inspection was very thorough and ended up taking the most time as the AIrRanger is virtually plug and play so long as the electrical component is handled by a properly trained technician.

Upon finishing, Tom also explained and presented me with 3 different options to replace my hot water tank as that is also original and he included them in my emailed invoice which covered all the work performed that day.

Thanks again to Tom, Amanda and all the staff at Capital Plumbing & Heating for this awesome prize package, I will definitely use them in the future for any jobs that need their expertise!

I was very pleased with everyone, from the staff that answered the phone with a cheery helpful tone to the technician who did the job. The technician did the job quickly & left everything in place and made sure to tune off the basement lights. He was respectful of my home by wearing booties & a mask. The pricing was very fair.

Very unprofessional, charged money without solving issue. Could not find the fault. Asked money to fix next visit. Then told money charged for as a service charge. Runaway without fixing fault. $ 155 is not big but you can see real faces of so called plumbers

Andrew did an excellent job. He was very courteous and explained clearly the work that had to be done.

Dave gave us a quote on a furnace and air conditioner. The cost is more than my first house but it will be well worth the money.

Liam came out to do a quote for all of my plumbing and heating needs. He was thorough, friendly, professional, answered all of my questions and was able to walk me through what was essential and what entire refurbishment might be. I appreciated his patience and kind manner.

He was very efficient and effective. He explained very clearly what is the problem and what are the possible solutions. We valued his knowledge and it helped us in the decision. We had old cast iron pipes in our 50 year old house and when water was spilling into the basement we called Capital Plumbing and they came out and found the problem in quick time. Jesse and Daniel came back to fix the issues and did a fantastic job. They were knowledgeable, pleasant, and explained everythig in an easy to understand way. They cleaned up the area afterwards and were most accommodating. I would not hesitate to recommend them and if any further disasters happened they will be my go to company. I called Capital to fix one leak at our new house. Paul came almost immediately. He found at least 2 more imminent leaks at other sinks! He investigated and fixed all our connections, gave great advice, and even rummaged around in his truck to find a part to fix an improperly installed drain.
In short, I think we bought the plumbers version of a lemon, but after Paul from Capital Plumbing came to make it right, we can sleep easy, dry, and leak free!

Great work from Jeff and Paul for the new furnace they installed. Told Capital Plumbing & Heating that my 40 year old one crapped out and decided to get a new one. Within a day they were working on it and did a great job, especially on an older late 60's bungalow. Both worked very hard to get it done in a timely fashion. Also, both were wearing protective face masks, booties, gloves and kept a safe 2 meter distance with me. Again, thanks to Jeff, Paul and Capital Plumbing & Heating.

Excellent customer service from dispatch to the technician. Paul was wonderful. He arrived on time, followed Covid procedures and was friendly and helpful. He was honest and provided all options and pricing. He helped me make what I feel was the best option for the situation and gave great advice. We will definitely recommend this company to family and friends.

Installed gas lines and hooked up our gas stove. Polite and left everything clean, communicated well, especially when my little one was napping and he needed to use a drill let me know so I was able to check that the little one wasn't disturbed by it.

Very impressed with our whole experience. Our furnace quite last night, called the 24hr line and the employee I spoke with helped me diagnose the issue and laid out the prices. We made the decision to bring the guys in the next day to help offset the call out expense. Andrew showed up the next day, right on time. He was professional, courteous and knowledgeable. He explained exactly what work they were doing and the costs associated. Within a few hours we had a new blower motor and humidifier installed. He also had an apprentice with him and was great at showing and teaching. This is why we are Capital members.

Because our old furnace was in a closed room with no drain access, Jesse and Daniel had to do retrofiting in order to be able to install the new furnace. Not an easy task. He came up wih a great solution and was very concerned that I would be happy with how it would look cosmetically. The drain pipe had to run across he ceiling and the exhaust vent had to end up above our deck. He made everything look great and made sure we were happy with the results. We are extremely pleased. Total customer satisfaction.

Would highly recommend Jesse. We were left without hot water throughout the house for two weeks, and after getting an initial quote from Rob’s Albertan we decided to call Capitol Plumbing looking at all the good reviews. Jesse was very thorough and detailed in his inspection, and was very professional throughout. The pricing was pretty similar, but we decided to go with Jesse as he provided a more detailed explanation as to what was going on with our heater and only charged us based on what we needed fixed, no extra charges. We were very satisfied with the service, and we finally have hot water at long last!

Called in Capital in the hope they could nurse our aging hot water tank back to health. Aside from being unable to remove/replace leaking plastic drain valve, a small leak in the tank itself was discovered. Discussed options with tech, Darren, and the wife & I agreed to proceed with replacing the 20+ year old tank. While rather pricey, replacement tank was delivered promptly, and Darren did an excellent, professional installation. Very easy to deal with, and gave a complete walk through of how new tank worked upon completion of job. He also took the time to clean up his work area, which was greatly appreciated. Excellent job all around. And the flat rate meant no surprises when it came time to pay the bill. We’re very pleased with the quality of the work.

Placed a service call for our hot water heater. Good service as always. Friendly and good to deal with.

Overall a very professional and helpful staff. The receptionist asked a series of questions to try to troubleshoot my furnace issue and she clearly knew her stuff. The service tech (Daniel) that looked at my furnace was super knowledgeable and clearly explained all aspects of what he was doing and why he was doing it.

Capital Plumbing & Heating quickly responded when I called regarding issues with my Furnace. I had a great experience with Paul who fixed my furnace and was very polite, comfortable to deal with. He fixed my furnace and was very professional, informative and trustworthy.

Condensate leaking from under the furnace casing. Paul and his assistant detected the leak and fixed it very quicly. They were no stranger to us having fixed other problems for us before this. Always friendly and informative. Happy to use their service.

December 2020 - We have an older furnace in our detached garage and it developed a gas leak on the pilot control knob. Called Capital and scheduled an appt and a very skilled tradesman (NAIT grad in plumbing and gas fitting) came out and fixed it up. Tom replaced some parts, gave it a thorough going over and taught me quite alot about our furnace. Tom was very polite and respectful, neat and tidy and knew his stuff. I feel so much better and relieved that he was here. Thx Tom.

February 8,2021. Tom came out again to complete an inspection of all of our plumbing and gas appliances in our home that was included in the cost of the garage furnace repair before Xmas. I asked for him personally because I trust him, he is easy to speak to, very polite, adhered to all covid guidelines, and he thoroughly explained all the options of current and potential upcoming issues.
I like to do some home repairs myself and Tom was able to give me enough info to help me decide what I can do on my own and what I would call him back to do.

You ALL know THIS; call up some company only to find out that the model is to learn as they go. Not saying there isn't quality plumbing services in the Edmonton area but, when you need the experience, expertise with excellent follow up support, you want a company that employs at a Red seal level. I needed a new tankless water system after the freeze. I tried several over the phone and was not left with confidents! A friend told me about their experience with capital so I gave them a call. I like that there is no initial service fee.they come quickly, assess and quote. If you don't like it? No harm, nno foul. OH! No charges neither!
They offer several ways to pay including financing. Not the least expensive quote I considered but, you get what you pay for and they really know their business and back the work with a solid after-service pprogram. WELL DONE CAPITAL!

Dave was very knowledgeable about options in rerouting the plumbing for an upcoming basement bath renovation.

Our furnace decided to quit in the middle of the night, but thanks to Paul it was up and running in an hour. We got Paul's information from my parents who spoke very highly of his customer service and professionalism. My husband and I highly recommend Paul and capital plumbing & heating. The prices were not outrageous for an after hours service call, and the quality of service is top notch!
