CARSTAR Calgary Downtown

Poor workmanship and don't cover it with their warranty. I had a bumper repaired with them; it literally fell off on the highway. They told me it was "possibly" my fault, so they wouldn't cover their poor work with their "worry free warranty. " Avoid this place. Their website boasts "Quality Repairs - National Warranty - Customer Satisfaction". I wish I received any one of those promises.

Horrible experience. I ended up taking my car else wear after it sat for an entire week without having any work done- even though the parts had been ordered and arrived.

I had to request to receive an estimate multiple times. Parts were ordered without an approved estimate. I was then prompted to book my car in as parts had arrived, still without seeing an estimate…

Once I brought my car in and dropped it off, no work was done for a week. When I called to get a status report, I was told Carstar had tried to contact me “multiple times” to sign off on the work before they would start.
I had no missed calls, messages, or email. I had Carstar check my contact information on file and it was correct. I believe this attempt to contact me was a lie.

After these two events I picked up my car and brought it to another shop.

Carstar handled my insurance claim work for a recent accident. Cameron and the team were so kind and understanding and kept me informed throughout the stressful process. You can always get in touch with someone there and they are prompt, helpful and caring. My car was returned to me looking and running well. Thank you CarStar.

Extremely happy with the extensive repairs they had to do to my car. Looks fantastic and runs great. They do great work here.

The folks that work here are phenomenal. I knew that as soon as I walked in the door and was greeted with so much enthusiasm and care, that they would make the repair process on my vehicle as easy on me as possible. The ladies at the desk are so professional and kind, and in case I ever need to have anything done on my car again, I will absolutely be going back to this location. The repair quality itself is excellent - can't even tell anyone ever tried to break into my car! - and it was so quick. Didn't even have to do anything other than show up, get picked up by my rental vehicle, and wait for it to be completed. Would absolutely recommend this location!

I had an unlucky car. It was hit 3 times and then stolen and found… all that within 30 months. Each time Hilori Supin at Carstar Downtown took complete care of everything I needed - from paperwork, rental arrangements, all mechanical and body repairs, car detailing and daily updates on the progress of the works. Being en experienced, knowledgeable estimator and a very astute observer she found all damages quickly, predicted their possible mechanical consequences and had all issues checked and addressed. Hilori professional ethics guide her decisions: she judged that the scratches on one wheel were not caused by the wild ride the thieves took in my car, so she authorized repainting the 3 rims as part of the insurance claim and offered me to pay directly for the fourth one.
When I had to do a difficult and rare repair at my own expense she took the time to find a way to do it efficiently and at a tolerable cost (it’s a Mercedes, any work is extra expensive).

I wholeheartedly recommend visiting Hilori at Carstar downtown first whenever you need any post-collision work done - you’ll be in good hands and she will take care of everything for you.

Things did not go exactly as planned, and my truck ended up in the shop for 5 months waiting on a part. That's just the way it goes sometimes. But anyway for some reason I would trust the manager Hilori with my life, she is just so sincere and competent. Like, a true master of her trade (that is, I think, charming the customers and also managing the repairs).

So anyway, I eventually got my truck back and it's beautiful, looks like new.

Absolutely excellent customer service and workman ship. Made my hit and run repair so easy and stress free! Cliff and Hillary are all stars!

Price and time ended up being a little bit above the initial estimate, but the work is immaculate and the service was excellent. Will go back!

Horrible service, will never return calls. My car has been there for 2 weeks just for an insurance appraisal. No communication with my insurance company either.

What a complete farce. My insurance company recommended this Body Shop, Car Star Downtown. They’ve had it for a couple days and still no estimate. They call after a couple days to say you need to come down (in-person) to provide contact information and to point out all the damage from the accident on the car. It was made clear over the phone that there were no damages to the vehicle prior to the accident, except for a very small rock chip on the windshield. And that we could provide contact info over the phone. We were still told we’d have to come in. After a 45 minute drive to Calgary, then Cliff (the point of contact) said we didn’t say that over the phone.
I have more important things to do then to be gaslit by a bad employee, and to do the work of providing an estimate for them.
I would run, not walk, run the other way.

Would highly recommend Carstar Downtown Calgary for any body work, repairs due to auto accident, paint, etc. Carstar made my Dodge Ram look like new again. Thank you for your on time work and they even cleaned my whole truck. Great attention to detail and professional ladies at front who dealt with me and kept me posted on line about what stage my vehicle was at daily.

Carstar Calgary Downtown repaired my 2018 Golf R back to new.
The insurance company sent all my details to them so all I had to do was book a time to get an estimate for the repairs. From there Hilori and the team at Carstar Calgary Downtown took care of the rest. They worked with my insurance company, arrange a car rental, did the repairs to the car and cleaned it inside and out all in the time quoted.
The actual repair to the damage was completed perfectly. My golf looks as good as it did before the accident.
Thanks to everyone who helped with my repair. I am very pleased with the final results!

Insurance had my vehicle taken here for repairs and I'm glad they did! The team here are A one. Friendly, informative, smiling and just pure awesome! They had my vehicle looking better than when I bought it new.lol They detailed it both inside & out after it was finished with all repairs, and everything went smoothly. Regardless if it's insurance claims or out of pocket expenses, highly recommend you at least check this place out. Well worth it all!

I recently had my truck in for repairs and I am beyond pleased with the work done. Crystin and her entire team went above and beyond for me. My vehicle was returned looking better (and cleaner) than ever! I would highly recommend them to everyone I know.

I was treated so well by Car Stars. They were highly communicative, easy to work with and just over all wonderful folks. The only thing they didn’t communicate to me was that they were going to clean the inside of my car at no additional cost! To say the least it was the best surprise of all time. Very impressed with their attention to detail and overall professionalism.

Unfortunately I have had to take my car in to CARSTAR's a couple times over the last couple years but each time they have been incredibly helpful and professional. My car is always returned in great condition and on time. On downside to the location is access but outside of that they have done great work.

I had an absolutely amazing experience here, my car was broken into and Hilori had me in the shop and on my way in only a day. The staff here are so accommodating and helpful they go above and beyond to make sure your car is better than new, when they say they make accidents unhappen you'd better believe it! We had dropped off our 2019 escalade with some pretty bad key mark ups on it. Not only did they clean that up completely but also all the small door dings on our car. Now the car looks like it came fresh of the lot. The best part of carstar is their wonderful customer service, especially Hailey as she was super helpful and friendly!

My car was brought to this location for service through my insurance company for damage from two different accidents. The amazing people that work here helped me navigate dealing with enterprise and with three different insurance companies. (my own and the two companies from the two other drivers.) It was a messy situation and I honestly can't imagine how difficult it would have been to deal with if it weren't for the help that I got from Hilary especially. They were honest, courteous, flexible, professional, honestly I just can't say enough. I would recommend them to absolutely anyone in my life and if you are considering going to them, you are making the right choice without a doubt. They are the definition of above and beyond.

Brought my ford escape in to get the window replaced for a fair price. When I returned to pick up my vehicle they had washed and detailed my entire vehicle for me aswell! It was by no means a clean vehicle when I dropped it off. This kind of customer service will definitely make me a returning customer.

I stopped in to this Car Stars to get a quote on getting some scratches on my front fender repaired. I have had major body work done here after an accident and was very happy with the results, so I thought I would return. A very friendly young woman, named Hillary, came right out and explained to me what could be done to get rid of the scratches. She then went back inside returning with a bag full of small tools and a buffer. She put some cream on the scratches and buffed them out right away. After several minutes the fender looked like new, except for a few marks that were through the paint. She then showed me the paint colour number inside the car door and said I could just get touch up paint and fix those marks easily! Hillary was extremely friendly and so helpful. She refused any payment. It was a wonderful experience! The company is fortunate to have such a wonderful young person working for them! Thank you so much Hillary. I will never forget your kindness.

Mine was a damaged rear door from being hit while parked. I found the staff to be very customer sensitive and helpful. They just made my problem go away with no hassle including arranging a rental car. Work was original manufacturer quality and delivered back to me ahead of schedule. Thank you.

Terrible! TERRIBLE. TERRIBLE!
After 4 trips in to get my car ‘fixed’.
The bumper doesn’t match up, the seams are so apart and mismatched and after they ordered a new bumper, put it on, I still wasn’t happy that nothing lined up. When I leave the car to be ‘fixed’ they took the new bumper off, put the badly fitted bumper back on so they didn’t have to paint the new one that the insurance company told them to order.
Plus someone in the shop stole my bat that was between my seats but when I ask about that too, they know nothing! Go figure! But it’s been there since I got the car but mysteriously disappeared when my car went into the shop!
It’s a TERRIBLE job and Carstar should be embarrassed to call this fixed! I wish I could post a picture because then no one would go there!

Had worked with this Carstar before (it's close to home) and so was familiar with their people and their work. Was favorably impressed with the organization of the work, online progress reporting (new), the outcome, especially the very thorough detailing coming out the shop. On time; on budget, and clean as a whistle.

I can not say enough good things about CarStar on 9th! I was originally referred by my insurance agency about a year ago. The service was excellent, communication was clear and they met all their own deadlines with room to spare. Everyone I interacted with, front staff and mechanics, were all professional and knowledgeable. The work was done well and I have had no reason to return. Recently, the undershield of my vehicle was dragging. I'm not knowledgeable in vehicles and so I called in to ask for advice. Hillary took my inquiry seriously, was able to answer my questions and gave me a couple of different options. Now understanding what a small issue this was, I am so grateful for Hillary's professionalism. They are clearly knowledgeable and were able to offer a variety of practical solutions. I went in right away, they had a quick look at it and it was repaired, ready to go in 10 minutes. What I thought was a whole missed day of work, ended up being only 30 minutes late! Not once did Hillary or the team make me feel stupid or like a waste of their time. They were very respectful and kind.

Thank you SO much to this amazing team, I will never take my vehicle anywhere else. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

From booking the appointment to picking up my truck Hilori was easy to work with and made sure I understood the quote and any new issues they saw when they took it apart. A few years ago I had my car worked on by Downtown Carstar. During the beginning of COVID I noticed corrosion and splits coming from the door that was worked on. I contacted Carstar about the problem. Carstar has a lifetime warranty but they are refusing to fix the work that was done on my car by telling me that I saw the corrosion long before I claimed I saw it. Be careful as the same thing will happen to you. I would suggest looking else where to have work done on your vehicle.

This would have been a five star review. They do excellent work, no complaints there. The problem is, they broke my driver's side exterior mirror and I ended up paying for it.

Four years after having the car repaired there their poor quality is beginning to show. It appears they broke a marker light and glued it back in instead of replacing it and the paint they applied to a new original bumper is beginning to peel off in sheets. Other auto body professionals have inspected it and confirm it is because CarStar used a self etching primer instead of properly preparing the bumper cover for paint. Deeply disappointed. I'll be using CSN Lou's exclusively from now on.

Addendum: After speaking with Carstar about the damage they were not even aware they installed and painted the new bumper skin nevermind ignoring any thoughts on customer service or repairing shoddy workmanship. CarStar does NOT have a lifetime warranty so beware.

CarStar - where nothing happens.

Just last week we had a rust spot on the door of our truck repaired here. We had great service from beginning to end. We really like the automated updates on the progress of the vehicle. The most impressive thing they did was clean our truck inside and out. We had just been camping and so the truck was very dirty with dog hair and sand etc. When we picked it up it was spotless inside and out. They buffed the chrome also. It looks like a brand new truck. Thanks for the amazing service. We will certainly be back if we have any more repairs to do.

Booked appointment for hail damage online as they don't take calls. Put hail damage on the notes and you can see it in the email reminder they sent him.
Took time off work and went downtown to have this done. Once we got there they told us that there was no indication that it was for hail damage and there's nobody that can do it. My husband said can you call someone? I drove all the way here. She said no sorry he's 45 min away.
Ummm he took time off and drive to the other side of the city and in my email reminder it clearly states HAIL DAMAGE.
Waste of time and unprofessional. I feel like it was because it was a Friday and the end of the day that they did not want to do it.

Somebody had rear ended my car and this was a preferred body shop. It was in the middle of the Covid outbreak. Cynthia the person I dealt with was extremely knowledgeable, patient, and understanding. This company is fortunate to have a brand ambassador like her.

Allstate recommended this shop as a trusted partner, so I took my vehicle there for repair that was required. The work that was done, was completed properly.

But when I picked up my car, the entire windshield was cracked from one side to another on the inside (it wasn't crack when I dropped it off). I took my car back & asked what my mileage was when I dropped it off & if my vehicle had been driven or if someone had slept in my car, as the seat was reclined all the way back. 2 separate individuals (the office manager & receptionist) said my car had never left their property. They also advised they would review their CCTV footage to see if anyone had been in my car. A day later, I was advised that where my car was parked the camera could not see it. They tried to blame a chip an inch & a half away from they crack as the reason. They also confirmed what my mileage was when I dropped my car off, it was 8 KMS different from when I dropped it off. Again, they said my car had not left their lot.

I took my car to Glass Masters & asked the tech to inspect my windshield while it was there to be replaced. They said, definitely the chip did not lead to the breakage, as the windshield was in relatively good shape. They did say it could be a number of reasons, but it was likely cause by direct pressure to the windshield from the inside of the car.

I escalated my concerns to Allstate and Carstars has since come back and said my car was test driven and there is CCTV footage. They also deny that my seat was reclined all the way down.

I am an honest person, who can afford to pay to replace their windshield. Why would I make this story & escalate it to my insurance company. Insurance fraud is illegal!

All I was looking for was an apology and maybe an offer to partially compensate me for a windshield that was damaged on their property. But all I received was lies & excuses.

CARSTAR did a fantastic job with our car & everyone we worked with was super helpful and kind. They also did a great job of communicating with us throughout to update us on process and with logistics of a rental car.

Excellent dent repair - thank you. They kept me constantly updated as my car was in the shop, and cleaned the interior of my car before the return - I have 2 small kids, so you can imagine the mess the kids make! 5 star service!

I called over a week ago to get a quote on spraying a goalie mask - a simple project that would have taken little time and effort. The receptionist said she would pass the message on to her manager and she in turn would call me back.
Well, if they can’t care enough to return a simple phone call, I sure won’t bother using them if I ever need a repair.
Definitely not recommended.

This was one of the best customer service experiences I have ever had. The front office staff particular a Christine (sorry if I spelled it wrong) was always pleasant/helpful and just awesome on the phone and in person!
She was very understanding I worked nights and worked around that.
She arranged the rental for me and it arrived in no later in 5 minutes after I dropped my car off!

The work was done fast and efficiently and I got email updates at each step of the process of fixing my car (super cool thing to see!)

The car itself now looks AMAZING! They did such a great job on it and someone came out and inspected it with me and explained everything they did.

I can NOT get over at how well the car was DETAILED when I picked it up. I did not know that was a service that was going to be provided so I had left some work jackets in there and some various other stuff. My car was immaculate when I came back, they even made sure to get the back seat and the trunk where I kept most of my stuff.

The car literally looked like the day I bought it!

Competitively priced, friendly and professional staff worked hard to answer all my questions and had a quote ready for me within the hour.

The insurance sent my car to CARSTAR for an accident damage assessment. The guy took off the front bumper and decided to write it off for such a minor damage. I was furious and wanted to keep the vehicle because it is a reliable and rare car. They refused to put the bumper back as it was when arrived the facility. When got home I was surprised that the bumper can not be put back because some of panels where the bumper is mounted were missing. I sent a couple of inquiry emails but got no reply. It is suspicious that they may intentionally keep these hard-to-find parts.

This was my second visit to Carstar with my Volkswagen Jetta and I would go back again and again. The staff are extremely helpful, the update reports about the progress of your vehicle are so helpful, and the work speaks for itself. Dealing with car issues and accident repairs can be annoying, but Carstar made the process smooth and painless. Highly recommend this shop and their team.

I had a fantastic experience at this location. They really bridge the gap between you and your insurance adjuster if you are not familiar with the claims process. Really appreciated that. I had decided to not go ahead with a second insurance claim on my car after we got the estimate, and even with a misunderstanding on that front they MORE than put me back in a better position than when I arrived. They were fair, reasonable and worked with me to make sure the miscommunication was handled in my interest. Really great service from Christine and Jon!

Richelle was excellent in handling the problems I had. The body work was excellent. I couldn’t be happier with the quality of work. I did have a couple issues, but they were handled as promptly and best they could. I would definitely recommend them to anyone on the quality of work alone.

I had my car backed into with a Jeep, leaving my left front fender, driver side door and driver side mirror damaged. The team at Carstar did an incredible job replacing all parts, applying 3M to the fender, and matching the original color. The service was great and the finish was amazing. Before I drove off from their parking lot, I noticed that the front bulb of my BMW died and Carstar took it upon themselves to take an extra 5 minutes and replace it free of charge. Great Service and great finished product. Thank you Carstar!

If your insurance company suggests this place ask them for a different recommendation. First written quote was 4600. We went back after about 30days. They said they had estimate wrong, new one was 2900 big difference.made an appointment told them we needed a rental. My wife went to drop car off on the appointment day and receptionist told her she was at wrong carstar and didn't have an appointment.pretended it was our fault. TOTAL Waste of our time. Very rude and condescending.need to figure out how to book an appointment.and order parts. VERY POOR customer service, will not ever go back AVOID this place if you value your time and want to be treated with any ounce of respect
