The Big brother of malls in Calgary, still a nice go to mall if you feel like going for a walk indoors and window shop until something catches your eye.
Update: It's still the best mall in Calgary. It also means a lot of pedestrian traffic. Some stores have left, but new ones have taken their place. There's more luxury stores here than anywhere else in the city.
This is probably the top mall/shopping centre in Calgary. No other mall carries as many high-end brands as CF Chinook Centre. If you're new to Calgary, this is the mall to go to.
Inside, there is Louis Vuitton, Nordstrom, Tiffany, Burberry, Gucci, Canada Goose, Birks, Peloton, Lego, etc. Traffic is pretty busy most days, but packed during weekends.
Outdoor and indoor parking is available, though you will need to loop around during the busier days. At one point, they even have valet parking in the back near Nordstrom.
The foot court was revamped a few years ago, and it's so bright and filled with so many choices. You will find something you like!
The LRT is not far, and a sky bridge was built to make it easier for people to get to the mall from the station.
Finally, to make it even better, there is a decent theater on the south end. I have watched most of my movies there.
Honestly, if you have to go to one mall in Calgary, it's this one, bar none.
There is lots of parking above and below ground. If your vehicle is higher than a stock 1/2 ton pickup I don't recommend you try parking in the covered parking or you'll scrape the height guards. Be careful about where you're parking if you go to a late movie because many doors are closed at 9 and the parkades are locked after 11.
Love to shop in Chinook Mall. Also love going there for movies. Food court is big enough with all the varieties. Just parking can be hard to find sometimes
Chinook mall makes for a great shopping experience- with over 250 stores, they had better! Parking space aplenty, with a Cineplex attached, awesome really.
My only issue is the lack of a regular grocery store in there. Huge as it is, no Walmart or Canadian Tire or any of these grocers at all! And no, Shopper's Drug Mart does not count.
I still enjoy going to the food court and window shopping quite often though.
I love this mall because it has a lot of options. Wish they were open for a little bit longer. Due to Covid they did change their hours to minimal time open. Looks like they’re open for a little bit longer now. Love going here for the Nespresso store
They removed tons of unique and artistic props they had throughout the mall and replaced them with nothing. For example: The giant bronze dinosaur statue, the carousel, the big 3D chinese dragon, The circling flying machines in the food court, the Sphinx in the movie theatre, and more. Thanks to modernism they want to look like every other boring mall and are using the same tiling and symmetric/squared designs for every single thing. Every store and fast food counter just looks like a box now and every railing, table, kiosk, wall, and pathway are all slowly becoming the same color/texture/and design. Make the place unique from other malls by adding interesting art and designs to liven it up instead of copying every other brain dead modern design
A very large and high end establishment. Some real nice stores to browse and eventually purchase cool items. A great variety of things to look at and buy All in all a great shopping experience.
I can wholeheartedly say I prefer this mall over any other mall I’ve been to in the city. First and foremost, there is a significantly better selection of stores either in the mall or in walking distance around it meaning you’re bound to find something for yourself. Secondly, the food court has quite a larger number of restaurants, even smaller mom and pop shops compared to even cross iron which is why I’ll continue going here as opposed to anywhere else.
In and out for a movie, used the parkade mall entrance. Sadly, the up escalator was down so we had to use the stairs. We had the option of using the elevator but opted to leave that for folks with mobility challenges.
