Chapters Chinook is a perfect place to relax with a Good Earth coffee and browse the books. Super friendly staff always ready to help.

The absolute worst organization and selection I have seen. This is the third chapters/indigo location I have been too like this. The books are either only available online or the websites tells you the location has the book but the staff can't find it. I will NEVER give chapters/indigo my business again. Would rather shop on Amazon.

I always love going to chapters but I forgot my gift card at home do didn't buy anything there. Next time.

Normal chapters, nothing fancy. Reasonably fast at the till.store was clean and orderly. Was asked if I required assistance in under 5 minutes

Checked ahead for a book I wanted to take to my daughter who doesn’t live in a community with a bookstore. I checked ahead and found five books available of the title I was looking for. I walked in and couldn’t find the book so I went to the cashier as I couldn’t find anyone else working. There was a lady in front buying many items and I stood behind her for several minutes as the line behind me got longer. As I looked around, I saw a kiosk and left the line to use it. Kiosks are apparently now closed so I headed back to the line where I was now about fifth in line. I saw another employee so I quickly asked if he could direct me to the right section for the book I was looking for. He looked it up and then then waved me off to the back of the store. I went all the way to the back of the store and couldn’t find the book and I looked at several aisles before deciding to leave. I ended up going home and ordering from Amazon which I hate to do but the experience was so bad at Indigo today that I’m pretty sure I won’t go back. There wasn’t enough help and with kiosk service gone, you’re left to find what you need on your own. The two people on staff that were there were disinterested and not helpful at all. I hate that companies like Amazon are killing other businesses. But if I’m paying premium for a book, I want a bit of help and appreciation from staff.

Great store with lots of books and friendly staff. I wish they had a larger selection on adult books for arts and crafts, though. Nearly all of their crafting books are for children.

Was well laid out and reasonable selection. Did find a book I was interested in but the line to purchase was very long and only one slow person manning tills, so ended up leaving without buying.

More stuff for sale than actual books, shrinking fantasy section, and didn’t even have Brent Weeks’ new book on release. I’ll be ordering through my local small bookstore from now on - chapters has gone way down hill

We just love Indigo kids store:) There are so many amazing products for kids of all age. It also has vast collection of books. Must visit store at Chinook.

Not as much variety as I would have liked for Asian authors, so no comparison to Kinokuniya. But expected authors and manga selection on display. Loved the hidden little sales corner. Good browse!

Similar to every other chapters. I did not see a Starbucks on site which was different from what I'm used to. It was very busy and had a handful of security guards on site. Prices were the same as other stores. Lots of clearance items but nothing great. Chapter's is a good franchise.

I decided to pop by Chapters - Chinook before I started my shift (in the same mall) on July 14,2022. I was walking around looking at some books in the non-fiction section. One of the representatives asked if I was looking for anything. I replied ‘nothing in particular, man. Thank you. ’

I moved over to the fiction section and the same employee was watching me look at books. I did not take much mind to it. I moved over to the Indigenous non-fiction section and he was still watching me. After a few minutes looking at books, I walked over to the horror section and he was still watching me. He would walk by and looked at me again. I had enough of him watching me and left. This employee made it quite apparent that he was watching me.

Being an Indigenous person, I do get followed around stores by the employees who stereotype me and my people as thieves. I have reached out via twitter to Chapters for two weeks and have received no response. I unfortunately will no long be shopping at this location.

Can Chapters - Chinook please provide proper training to their employees when an Indigenous person shops at the store? We are not thieves, we want to shop and be treated like everyone else.

Hate the layout of the place if you're looking for kids books. You have to find your way through the maze of baby stuff and dolls. Then make your way all the way out again just to find a register to pay for anything you find in that side of the store which doesn't look like Chapters, but rather some babies-r-us knockoff. You'd never know it's the same store and it doesn't make sense to go through there to find books for anyone under the age of 9. Poor layout.

I think that this chapters is really missing out on not having a starbucks/coffee shop in them, the smell has changed dramatically.

Always amazed at the selections and the catchy front entrance. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Have gotten a few good staff recommendations

Went to indigo kids, William has the worst customer service. He probably don't know the meaning of customer service, he is not helpful at all. He shouldn't be working in there especially its a store for kids.

This is one of my favorite Chapters in the city because of the variety of office supplies they carry AND the staff have always been so nice and helpful. They also have cool house accessories like candles, plant pots, some kitchen items, blankets, etc. They have pretty wardrobe accessories too like hats and scarf or wallets. They have a really nice kids section that has lots of toys, clothes, and books among other items.

But honestly I come here for the office supplies and always get so amny compliments because of the unique items they sell! Of course, you will find tons and tons of books here too, always buy my books from this particular store.

Staff was available, friendly and took me to the book that I was looking for. Hannah was really helpful.

An excellent place for your book shopping needs, they have a strong selection in the store whether it be manga or a simple cook book. They usually tend to have the latest books/novels and typically always have what I'm looking for.

Such a great place for me to shop manga. They have a huge selection of manga there and alot of choices to pick, will come again!

Someone screwed up! They actually had more then a row of computer books! Only bad thing is the selection is still very poor unless you are interested in python.

After briefly checking online for availability I drove 30 minutes to get a specific book. I looked for 10-15 min and couldn't find anything, so I referenced the website to see what I missed. Mostly the entire genre, including the book I was looking for, was only available online. At that point I was pretty frustrated and disappointed (with myself not Chapters) then went to leave.

Nat (t?) stopped me on the way out, with my head down, and asked if they could help me find something. I said I drove all the way in to find out what I was looking for wasn't available in stores. After insisting, they went to look and were able to find the last copy! Could've easily ignored me, but made my trip worth while. Awesome service, thanks Nat!

Constantly kept clean and organized. I like that the hours are open earlier and closed later compared to other standalone Chapters locations. Frequently had friendly and very efficient staff.

With the Starbucks closed, the smell of coffee doesn’t waft through the whole store.

They had one of the books we were looking for! Surprised to see them carrying favuzzi there. The self serve terminals for searching are disabled which means you need to use their website or ask someone for book locations

Best book shop in town, great broad selection, latest bestsellers, magazines, gift, novelty, kids items, ebook reader, vintage area. Intellectual hangout venue

My daughter had asked for a book that I was not familiar with, someone came right away and asked if I needed helped

This Chapters still has some of the best selection in the city. That being said, several store reorganizations, and the pandemic, have added an underlying layer of chaos.

The Starbucks is not currently open and is walled off, which means the bathroom folks frequented at this end of the mall is also off limits. Many book and goods sections are also not where you'd usually expect them. For example, tabletop gaming books are not all together, nor are they with other board games and other things. Many sections are like this, taking a bit of cramped wandering down aisles to find things not where you'd expect.

First off, this is in Chinook Mall, so expect crowds as it will be super busy pretty much whenever you go in. Because of this, the staff are a bit harder to find, and many are managing the front cashier desk. Despite this, I haven't had a bad customer experience at this store, and I tip my hat to them for this. The selection is amazing, and you can find pretty much whatever you need in here. I do wish the Starbucks wasn't as intrusive as it is, and the store could almost do without it, but that's a personal opinion.
All in all, a pretty good place to find whatever book you are looking for, and maybe some interesting housewares while you are at it.

Busy busy busy. Customers aren't pleasant but that's no fault of the staff or the store. They always keep the place spotless and the displays perfect somehow despite all the chaos. I have a lot of respect for their merchandisers and CSRs!

Very clean and we'll organized, they are in the middle of renovation right now so shelves are a little empty

The customer service here is truly Awesome, very friendly and helpful. They were able to help me find a good city planning book.

Chapters is one of favorite stores to go to and this recent trip was pretty amazing. Although there were items that I did not find in which I was looking for, the staff's attitude and personality made up for it. Not only did they try to help me find the books that I need but they also offered any alternatives for me to use that I might be interested in. Also to the employees who recommended The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo to me, loved your personalities!

Staff is super helpful and knowlegeable. Awesome selection of anything in a book with extras. Their prices are pretty good depending what your shopping for but for me very affordable. Lots of ways to save money with their points cards and coupons.

Very helpful. Told me what store had what I was looking for and order books for me that weren't in the store

Staff was friendly and extremely helpful. They assisted me on how to use chapters gift cards for buying ebooks.

Very warm store. My toddler fell in love with a lady who gladly took his hand and walked with him. I felt my children were in a safe environment while we searched for my teens books and another's toys. Thankyou!

Super friendly staff who know where books are when you ask (will even take you to the section).
Large, clean store with an extensive kids section. Many kids cook books to choose from.
Checkout is quick and easy checkout - cashiers know the stores loyalty programs.
Lota of home decor type items in the store but most of the extras are geared towards women (scarfs, purses, handbooks, etc).
Large fancy card selection - papyrus ones.

Computer book section down in size, but still able to find what I was looking for, which was a book.

My kids and I love this place. Very well organized and clean. Staff are very friendly and eager to help.

Always a good place to find books on personal development. Indigo kids is a nice place for bday shopping as well.

Don't visit here too often, but I came in with a specific list of items and found everything I was looking for with ease and comfort. Will shop here again.

This is Calgary's flagship Chapters location. Great children's store connected. Love the Starbucks attached. This is a destination site for book lovers.

Didn't have any of the standard scrambling/hiking books I was looking for. I literally saw "More Scrambles in the Canadian Rockies" in a library in Qatar. I don't know why I try anything other than Amazon

Chapters sells more housewares than books these days. My shopping experience felt disjointed here, and there was not a ton of staff presence.

They have a Godiva Chocolate display, but the selection was limited.

I noticed an excessive amount of merchandise from the TV show Friends, so if that’s you’re niche, you are in luck here.

A really nice place. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and we found exactly what we were looking for.

Books! Books! And more books. Whilst i find myself tucked into the cookery section my missus is always all over the store picking out stuff. Clean, safe environment to shop in these current times.

Don't honor mask exemptions, Staff is extremely rude about it as well. Purchased my book from amazon instead

Bought a great book there this evening! As I walked thought the door I was greeted by a friendly staff member who asked me if I needed any help. They had lots of great books and the whole store was nicky Organized with a good atmosphere inside, I’ll definitely come back in the future!

I screwed up and showed up earlier than I was supposed to for an online order pickup. Kalle went out of his way to accommodate me and was very friendly while doing it. A+ job

This Chapters location is my favourite in the city! For years when I would go in, never have I been disappointed, especially with it’s cleanliness and incredible staff! Even amidst a pandemic, they have gone above and beyond to ensure the customer’s satisfaction, safety, all while still being such a joy to ask questions if any! My book was released for the first time in a Chapters store, and this location was where I wanted to see it in first! The manager Carolynn was such a pleasure to speak with, and was so supportive and helpful! Thank-You!

The customer service at this store was phenomenal! The staff is so friendly and helpful and helped us find what we were looking for. It's hard to find places with such great service, koodos to the staff here!

Love Chapters, very hard to not spend a fortune on books - they are one of my favorite pastimes and I have little self control around them

Unfortunately the black list on conservative and other authors has driven my opinion of chapers down to one star in spite of the excellent customer service.

Just left the store-worst customer service ever. Asked for help finding a Happy Birthday book. Sales associate said “oh, they’re spread all over. No duh! That’s why I asked for assistance. I’m waiting for someone she says. I’ll just order from Amazon from now on.

If you are medically exempt and cannot pull up a mask over your nose, do not go to this store. You will be asked to leave.

Make sure what is an actual discount since "up to (small letters) 50% (large) off" is usually 10-20% off.

Line ups out the door of the shopping centre entrance. There is a hand sanitizer to the left of the line and sporadically throughout the store but no health checks. Just three out and three allowed in. Long lines at the cashiers near the main entrance. Constant reminds over the PA system to keep distance and keep touching of products at a minimum. Masks are required.

If you want to buy your stuff with no line then go to the cashier in the kids section. No one knows it's there.

I love the selection of things in the store. With the cocod restrictions, everyone was clearly guided to the distance. Easy to follow directions and the checkout was easy and friendly

One of the best Chapters locations. Great selection and friendly, helpful staff. I've been going here for years and have never been disappointed.

I have a medical exemption from the mask bylaws, as per our Canadian Human Rights Commission, and the bylaw. I was told this store was going above and beyond the bylaw, and not honoring exemptions. Which is in fact, illegal discrimination through the Alberta Human Rights Commission. The manager was extremely difficult to deal with, and would not listen to a thing I had to say. She called mall security on me because of my health disability, and then threatened the cop saying that Chapters had lawyers high up who had determined it was legal for them to be doing so. It's completely illegal that they just discriminated against me, and removed me from the store refusing to serve me because of my medical conditions preventing me from wearing a mask. That is called discrimination, and that is illegal.

Always a great experience here. Just called them for some help and I know they are busy but they were more than happy to accommodate my request. Thanks chapters.

Okay, so I was looking for a very particular book for a few minutes and couldn't find it, but thankfully there were some nifty computrons to see if they had it in stock! They said it was in stock, so I asked an employee and they said it was in the back. So helpful!

They led me to a bookshelf near the "business and investment" section and pressed a tattered, ancient copy of "How to win Friends and Influence People" and the wall slid aside revealing a dark, musty passageway. The cobblestone was aged and crumbling, but I could recognize it as ancient Candarian almost instantly.

The traps weren't too dangerous (the poison darts just gave mild heartburn) and The RiddleMaster's games were laughably easy! Thanks to the helpful staff and wide stock, I am now the proud owner of a first edition human-leatherbound Necronomicon Ex Mortis, and both my hands are intact!

Huge chapters and honestly one of my favourite book store in Calgary. Right inside Chinook centre by the movie theatre. Plenty of books with a coffee shop right inside. The store is nicely organized and clean. Highly recommend this Chapters if your in the area!

This Chapters has changed my life entirely for the better, the level of customer service they provide is unprecedented and just absolutely phenomenal. The staff absolutely wonderful and supportive, on a physical and mental level. I feel as if I am a better human after leaving that store and want to ensure I bring others happiness the way Chapters Chinook has brought to me. I would like to thank God for creating the amazing people in that store and thank the employees for being fabulous.

The books in the Craft section had just been dumped on the shelves. I've never seen a bigger mess in a book store.

Hidden gem, it's one of their larger stores but isn't usually very busy for a major mall. Staff are very helpful.

Chapters is always good, just a great place to browse and have a look around, you can always find something you want or need. It's nice to see that they support Canadian authors, had a nice chat with the author at Chinook Mall chapters a couple of Saturdays ago that wrote the book The Great Divide. I bought a copy! I also like to support Canadian businesses.

Going to chapters is.like.going to the spa for me! The staff at the Chinnook location are my favorite.as they don't constantly asked you if.you need something. They offer you a bag/basket and are always right there if you have a question. They are attentive without making you feel like you are being stalked like others do at another location. Thank you Chinook Chapters!

This Chapters in Chinook is really nice and big, it also has a Starbucks inside and this location is open till 10 pm.
